Cannot Connect popup windows - How do I turn it off? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

In my house I have really bad reception. Some apps sometimes try to use my data connection to download updates. The problem is, if I don't have any reception at that time, a window pops up telling me it cannot connect.
How can I turn that off? I went through settings and notifications and couldn't find anything. I went through Schapp's Advanced Config and couldn't find it either. There must be a way to disable notification that the phone couldn't connect for data... so how do I do it?

deactivate data connection in comm manager. I use phonealarm which does it every night and have no more "cannot connect"-messages anymore.

Thanks for the reply... but that's not exactly what I'm looking to do.
I work from home so I'm home most of the day. I use my phone quite a bit to for certain tasks. I need the phone to be able to try and connect whenever it wants... I just don't want to be notified if it can not connect.

I haven't found a way to do this. However, I've written a program to handle those popups while using TomTom (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458342), but there's no reason why you couldn't have something like that running all the time. It wouldn't stop the popups, but it would auto-close them for you within a short period of time.
Do you want me to write that for you?
Cheers,
Steve.

Thanks for the reply Steve and for offering to create an app for me.
But I don't think it would really solve my biggest issue... which is having the popup show every few minutes while I'm actually using the phone. It's faster for me to just click on the dismiss button.
So it doesn't look like there's a way to disable this "feature." You'd think there'd be a registry value to edit or something.
But thank you again for offering to help.

Yes, you would have thought there would be an option for this. A program to auto close the dialog could make it so that it literally just flicks up, and then disappears, but I agree it's not terribly satisfactory.
Cheers,
Steve

What you need is to turn off Auto Connecting, but you have to do manual using some registry edit software:
Change DWORD Value from "1" to "0" in:
HKCU\Software\HTC\ConnectionSetup\EnableAUTODetect

There's no ConnectionSetup under the HTC folder.

Screen Off = WiFi Off: How to Fix?

My WiFi shuts off every time my screen blanks out. I can see this being good if I were on battery, but personally only use WiFi when plugged into A/C. Is there a registry edit that'll change this 'feature' and leave WiFi running?! Thanks!
Yeah, that fix would be nice!
I noticed that Skype by-passes idle-mode in it's software and that's one way to fix it. To bad that not all apps do that...
If you use it only when charging, you can configure your cruise to stay on when the device is charging.
Mi cruise is in Spanish, so i will translate the options as i think it must be in english.
Go to START, CONFIGURATION, SISTEM, ENERGIE, ADVANCED
And there you can configure the options to turn off the device when is on battery and when it is charging.
Hope it will be usefull.
That was an answer to a different question, perhaps someone will find your tip useful. Thanks though.
The question is how to stop WiFi from shutting off when the screen blacks out, whether or not it's plugged into AC.

Hi, Benjimen, did you check Schap's Advanced Config 3.2.0.0, there are some settings for Wifi. I haven't tweaked/tested any of them since I don't use much of Wifi. Hope it may help you.
Thanks -- I've read about that, but haven't tried it. Was really hoping someone knew the registry tweak to accomplish it, looks like I'm out of luck though
It sounds like you're 'guessing' it might be a feature? Does anyone who has tried the program actually know and care to post factual info? I took a look at the info for the software, and it does't appear to be one of the tweaks, at least not in the example screens.

I have the Schap's Advanced Config 3.1.0.0 installed and i cant find enything about that, only to shutdown the wifi if there is no activity....
I alsa didnt know that there was a 3.2.0.0 version, will try to check that out later.
Chears.
PS: sorry benjimen if my previous post didnt help...
i have downloaded the 3.2.0.0 and i also could not find anything there that could solve your problem.
Chears.
the problem is when one click the power button one dont
turn off the screen
one suspend the device power most systems down
you can get programs which just turn off the screen
which would leave the wifi on
but the device run out of batt pretty fast if it's
not suspented
In Polaris.Aserg.WM61.WWE ROM WMP plays when the screen is switched off, Probably you can check with him for your requirement.

benjimen, as was given as a tip changing the time-out is a working temporary solution.
I did something similar with a software that allowed me to make "user profiles". The "work" profile had a longer time-out just to keep my wi-fi active

Thank you 02xda2, I found a tweak in the thread you linked to, the registry entries did the trick! Here they are for anyone who might be interested:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) DWORD Dec to 1

If you need to change it back, the default entry for all of them (at least on my Cruise) was set to 4

Thanks, but I got it with just the registry entry. I've always had bad luck with the do-it-all tweaker programs, at some point set something I shouldn't and mess something up.

Does anyone know of a fix for the long lag in answering calls for the HTC Touch Pro? If you can help please write back in the simplest terms! I am just learning how to use the phone and finally learned how to download and install cab files.

What have you installed (to cause this problem)?
Do a search for "diamond tweak". There is an option to shorten the delay when an incoming calls rings. Perhaps that will help.
if you have S2U2 installed, you could try uninstalling or disabling that. You could also switch from the Diamond dialpad to the regular WinMo dial pad (the screen you see when go to the dialer). You can make this change using the Advanced Config Tool (i'm pretty sure, if not, then try Diamond Tweak).
There's also the initial delay value in the registry as mentioned in the last post.
These should all help, some more than others though.
there actually is an issue with Diamond tweak and advanced config...
if you use them to set your data disconnect time if re writes a registry value that makes your phone fritz when trying to answer calls.in reg editor go to HKLM/comm/connmgr/planner.
Look for a entry of suspendresume. change that to #777. shold cure your issue. while you are there if you want to help out your battery change the Cachetime value to 60. that will kill your data afret 60 seconds of no use.
weird.....suspendresume on mine shows ~GPRS! as a value??

thanks for the suggestions and how do I fix the hang up lag?
The slow delay in answering calls was a problem right out of the box. When I installed the slide to answer function the phones responsiveness greatly improved. There is also a huge lag from the time I end a call to the time I can go back to my home screen. Any suggestions for fixing that lag?

no idea, but i have the same thing
No luck with the tweak mentioned in post #5. However, after I replaced the HD CallerID with the default WM one (which is not that bad!) the phone responds rapidly :
1) Zero lag between first caller's ring and screen respond.
2) Almost zero lag between first caller's ring and bluetooth handset ring.
3) Less than 0.5 ring before the device starts ringing.
Only a minor problem : The bluetooth icon does not show any more on the taskbar although the BT connections works fine !
Ok, where do you change to the default caller ID? I tried the registry edit and changing to the default dialer skin and had the same problem. This is so frustrating! About 50% of the time when it rings I hit the answer button and nothing happens. It even takes about 10 seconds before the screen changes from the home screen to the phone screen when it starts ringing.
How big a file for the ringtone are you using? The bigger the file, IMHO, the longer it'd take for the phone to load it...
Delete your call history and the lag after hanging up should disappear.
Htc Diamond Regedit
Hello,
I have a problem with my HTC.
I used PHM Regsitry. I found the Suspendresume key, and it wrote GPRS!
I clicked the key, and because I did not know who to change the value, I just wrote #777.
Now when I try to go there and change what I did, when I click Settings in regedit, it is emty or the program crackes.
Please help.
Paches and fixes
Goto HTC's website. There is a patch to resolve the issue for the delay in sound when answering calls.
Regarding the delay after the phone cal has been discontinued use "Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3" (search this site). There is a setting that you can change to resolve it (default is 3000ms[3sec])

This hangup delay is one of the first settings I changed when I got the phone. Almost everytime I scroll through contacts phonebooks, the phone would accidentally dial, so I press end end end repeatedly, but by the time it hangs up, the other party already had my caller id, and would call back asking why I called.
Why is this 3 sec delay built-in? There must be a reasoning behind it.
And while we're on the delay issue, why did they set the camera up with a 3-5 second delay to shoot? Is it for the autofocus? I got rid of the reg setting, now the camera is faster, and no autofocus issues... so why were these delays there to begin with?

its in Schaps Advanced config 3.3 under Camera. But i digress...
it still begs the question, from an engineering standpoint, why did they set up these delays and lags?

I don't know if you resolved your issue.
You just have to erase "~GPRS!" and type in "#777"
No quotes of course.
I use Dotfred Task Manager 3.1
Same problem
I recently got this problem with the answer lag, I was using the same rom, same applications, same everything for the past few weeks. I am not entirely sure what caused the problem.
What would happen is when I get a call and I hit the answer key, the phone stops ringing and vibrating but it would still be flashing and has the phone number shown, I also have the slider installed and when I slide it, the same problem comes up!
In my reg editor, I do not have HKLM!
Any advise would be appreciated, this is getting annoying for both sides of the call.
Thank You
UPDATE
I actually may have found the solution, I removed the wireless manager shortcut when holding the answer button, and so far it's been working very quickly.
Go to settings -> Buttons and switch "button 1" from w/e u had to "<none>" I didn't even restart my phone...
2nd Update
Nope, just got an international call and it's holding it up... maybe it has to do with caller ID ?
HKLM is HKey_Local_Machine

Internet Connection Software

Not sure if the title is right but i was wondering is there any type of software or tweaks or even settings that will disconnect the internet over a certain period of time or in activity on it? I only use the internet on the phone to check facebook and to update the weather. I sometimes browse the internet when im on a train etc... but thats not very often.
I have a 500meg limit per month and im scared for example it updates the weather and i forget to turn the internet off manually over a certain period of time say a few days etc... i will go over my limit.
There's a spot in Advanced Config that does this; but it's not on the main page - I believe you have to go into something like options-advanced options.
I've got mine set to 2 minutes inactive.

Any Way to stay in keypad mode during call?

My screen goes crazy. During a call up to my ear it flips to horizontal, changes out of key pad view and not always to mute/speakerphone... keys view, sometimes to contact info, and can be a nightmare to get back to "end call." I've found times when the caller hung up but the TP2 put them on hold and kept my time going.
Any programs and or reg hacks to:
1) stop the horizontal flip when placed to an ear, and
2) keep it in keypad mode or general call mode?
Real pain when dialing into a system that requires keypad responses. Everytime I put it back to my ear I have to go through a crazy sequence to get back to the key pad.
This is my only complaint wth this phone, it's not easy to use as a phone!
Thanks.
I have the same problem when dialing into VM, or into any call queue. I looked through the registry a bit. Didn't see anything obviously labeled.
yeah me too. Only thing I could find was using Gyrators' exception list to not rotate the phone, but it wasnt 100% reliable. I would *LOVE* to find a way to stay in keypad mode too.
Hi All - I guess I'm just jumping on the bandwagon but I have the same issue and find it annoying. I loaded the 'incall screen tweak' but that didn't work. Any help more seasoned members than I could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!!!
I had the same issue too, whenever I put my phone up to my ear (left handed) it would go into landscape. The fix is simple but you have to edit a registry setting. I'm going by memory here, so please forgive the vague info
1) make sure to backup your reg info
2) using your favorite reg edit program, goto
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\Whitelist
3) now this is the part I kind of forgot, you need to find a string with the DATA value that includes "phone" or "dailer"
4) delete that string
5)soft reset and give it a try, the phone shouldn't go into landscape whenever you turn it during a call.

OK, I went where you said, but no dialer, and only phone entry is:
Phone/Lock/Compose/Picture
String= Dialog
And deleting this stopped "lefty" in call flipping? Doesn't make sense to me. Doesn't seem to only control dialer or phone.
Please confirm or anyone out there please help. I don't want to delete something don't understand.

That's it! forgot what the process name was, but yeah, deleting that stopped the phone from trying to change to landscape during a phone call. Deleting that will tell the G-Sensor not to change the orientation of the phone's screen during a phone call, however it also tells it not to change the orientation during a picture (which wasn't a big deal for me cuz I can change it when I view them in windows). You can always look up the process in google or even the forum search tool if you're still scared.
If anyone else is interested I tried a "partial" delete of the suggestion above. I created a new string leaving out the Phone.
Lock/Compose/Picture
String= Dialog
deleted old string with phone/....
So far no more "lefty" crazy problems, and pictures seem to appear in landscape.
Here's hoping all is OK!

Awesome, good job!
I installed Gyrator 2. Just create a new event with the phone as the application. Nothing for orientation, nothing on stylus, and rotate screen for actions. Then promote the event to the top. Highlight your new phone event and select orientation, it will have a check mark and a number one next to the event. It hasn't failed on me yet and I use the key pad all day long with my job!
I just upgraded to the Verizon official WinMo 6.5 and the registry hack doesn't seem to work anymore, and I'm having issues getting Gyrator to work, has anyone resolved this issue for WinMo 6.5?

I haven't had any of the issues with the 6.5 upgrade that were mentioned with 6.1. Haven't needed to add S2U2 since the screen lock is built in and the phone is much more responsive when placed to the ear and then moved away to access the keypad. It's not perfect but vastly improved over 6.1...
I guess my point is try it the way it is with 6.5 and see if you thinks its better. leave gyrator and reg hacks aside for a few.

When you create a profile you put in different tasks that for example turns of data and etc. And lets say i have LTE active and mobile data before i turn on the profile. And when i turn the profile off the LTE and mobile data is supposed to go back to how it was before. This happens with GPS and Auto Sync.
So no LTE is kinda not correctly enabled/disabled

Actually, you both are correct. Tasker does not act consistently between the items you two are comparing. Some things, like Bluetooth, it will revert when the task is exited. But it does not always act this way.
It should always act the same way across the board. I hope it's a bug, because it's definitely bad practice to code in this fashion. Especially with a programmer's tool
But, as @PhilipTD said, just make an exit task to revert settings.

You will create a new task, implementing reverse instructions. So, If you turned LTE on for the entry task, the exit task will turn it off.
When that is complete, go back to your profile and expand it, long press the green arrow (entry task), and pick select exit task. Choose your new task.
Does this make sense?

Thank you, make perfectly sense. Didn't know about exit task thingy. The problem i had was also that i can't click on 2g/3g in tasker. So i used gravitybox.intent.action.CHANGE_NETWORK_TYPE and entered networkType:9 (for LTE)
Appreciate your help
FYI here is a complete guide for Tasker.
