I know I'm super late but today I managed to play with a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. Honestly that phone is hands down the best WM6.1 phone to have come out in 2008. I fell inlove with the interface. Is it possible to put that interface on the ATT Fuze? I would LOVE my phone if it was possible.

i feel like teh fuze with spb 3 is AMAZING. beats the iphone in terms of UI (now taht the portrait landscape bug is apparently fixed). try that? it has a carousel which you can configure to work like the tabs that the x1 has as well

yeah i played with one a month or two ago and it was fun
i don't tihnk there's any way to unless you flash an x1 rom? I don't think this would be all too stable thoguh...i haven't seen any apps or skins or shells for this though. IMO SPB MS3 comes teh closest to that experience, but it's not teh same, i know

Hi, I guess, that's the newest beta of Wisbar Advance Desktop 2.0 Beta 2 (http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=59), which has the ability to "slide your today screen". You can have many today screens with different plugins on them. It looks like someone made a very good looking theme for it . I'm not sure about the slide to unlock thing, but I think it could be done with Wisbar Advance Desktop as well.
Does anyone know this "slide to unlock thing"?
search for s2u2 its made by A_C
S2U2 0.99p is the latest

dude slide to unlock had been around for a while.
plus i dnt want those things. if i wanted an iphone i would have bought one which is much cheaper than the touch cruise in nyc. if i wanted an even cheaper iphone i could have bought a hiphone which is the clone to the iphone and is twice cheaper. i dnt want no iphone so i dont wont my cruise operating like an iphone.

I agree, I really don't see what the skin my WM phone to look like an iphone excitement is about. The iPhone is cheaper, bigger, and has less capabilities than our phones. Besides all that, the last thing I want is to lose the ability to see upcoming appointments, tasks, and such on my home screen. Losing that, so I can have Iphone icons on the homescreen completely defeats the purpose of having a PDA in my phone.
I'm all for eye-candy, but seriously, the iPhone has great transitions and animations, but its homescreen is not sexy at all.

Wow - a truly great today screen. It's the sliding today that I'm after just like in the video. Wisbar Advance Desktop doesn't have obvious instructions....does anyone have this nailed yet that I can just download?
its slide to unlock pro. i know where u an find it but its at that place where we need not mention in this forum. no hackers allowed. try www.freewareppc.com or pocketpcfreeware.com or u know what. that thing people use alot: oh oh i know GOOGLE!!!
My mind has been stuck on this question for weeks. Im still getting the money to purchase one of the devices, i just cant decide which one. Ive even got the pdadb.net comparison sheet set as my home page. I cant decide for my self which one i should buy. I want the G1 because i really like android and from what ive seen at the T-Mobile stores, its a pretty solid phone. But the Xperia is a very loaded phone, and i want windows mobile because im so used to my applications, and im just very adjusted to it. But Android seems very innovative, i just think id like it. Im not exactly in love with windows mobile(but then again, who is?!?), i just dont want to get something totally different and not know how to use it. Honestly, im still using the device that started my love with mobile technology. My HP iPAQ hx2495b. Sometimes i feel like im being lied to, because even though TCPMP says the clock speed 520Mhz, it dosent feel that way AT ALL. Anyways, the whole point of this is to help me decide, HTC T-Mobile G1 or Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. Im looking for a straight answer. Thanks!
Simple answer. If you want win mobile, buy X1. It's easier to flash/change/modify/connect to pc, bigger app support and etc. If you want to experiment with new OS, buy G1. It's interesting, but in different way Or wait for new T-Mobile G2
I'd go for the xperia (in fact, thats what I got) simply because android still has a long way to go.
anyways, the xperia is ****ing fast. those hp hx2xxx are the ****. I got one also and is slow as hell... tried lots of roms, differente winmo versions (2003, 5.0, 6.0) and all are slow.
also, when applications start using the 3d chip support, they will be faster (core player next version)
G1 is still too "beta" imho. I would go with the X1. Good luck!
Agree G1 is too beta now
I´ll take the X1, but there are better options than this ones: HD for example

Yep!
09 can bring us some very nice surprises!
Perhaps HD Touch Pro......
Cheers,
Yhea, i was hoping that the Touch HD Pro would come around, but it might be WAY too expensive for me. If the Touch HD is 800$ then the Touch HD Pro will probly be into the thousands. Nothings really holding me back, other than funding issues.
Hey guys.. I just got the New HTC Whitestone a.k.a Imagio from VZW... Is there gonna be a sub forum for this phone?
It's under the TOPAZ section. The CDMA section there. It's basically a reskined Topaz with a bigger screen and antenna. (So They Say)

I'm wondering the same thing!!! I'm seriously considering taking it back and getting the Verizon Touch Pro 2. I love this phone and the Imagio (Whitestone) and the camera is better than anything I've ever seen on a celli! But then I haven't touched anything in the past couple of years other than iPhones and a few Blackberry's. I'm just tired of coming to this site everyday and watching everybody flashing these beautiful LEO ROMs! It's killing me!!! So what do we do? You're the second person I've met with an Imagio (Whitestone)! So tell me! Are you as frustrated as I am?

Well, no CDMA users have LEO ROMS yet.... I mean, they do but they can't flash them yet as the unlocker hasn't been finished.

ehhh.. patience my friend.. it takes time.. this is the best verizxon has ever offered from htc.. beleive me.. the developers will jump on it pretty soon..
I have faith in this comunity
I think I'll still go ahead and switch to the touch pro 2. Just having a hard time getting used to typing on the keyboard. the letters are incredibly small. Plus the touch pro 2's screen automatically rotates when you open the keyboard and I can't get the screen to rotate when I'm using skyfire. Its kind of frustrating watching video on websites in portrait mode! Actually it sucks!! Any ideas on a way to fix that?

Like I said in post #2 the Imagio is in the TOPAZ forum under CDMA TOPAZ.
Skyfire does not rotate automatically. Search for an app. I think it's G-config, I think. It will allow you to make almost any app auto rotate. The keyboar with the big screen should be easy to use. The buttons aint small and I use a TOPAZ. So the Imagio buttons aint small. I got no nails and big thumbs. You will get used to it and typ fast. Give it a few hours of typing if not then give it a week. Some peoples learning curves are higher.
The imagio is basically the CDMA touch HD. The true topaz/diamond 2 (AT&T Pure) has a much smaller screen, no media flo tuner/antenna, different version of TF3D without location based weather on home screen. The imagio has the exact same specs as the HD. Fundemental differences between the topaz, and whitestone.
Please recommend me a new handset as I'm getting the bug for a new one again and I'm a bit out of touch.
I've had just about every handset HTC has ever made since the very first XDA I.
I'm not put off by size (I love and still use my Athena)
Must be fast and good at playing video/divx etc
Prefer some kind of flash.
I kinda like the Pro2 but worried its just a pretty face and no big performance increase?
Also concidering a Hero but worried about Android. Can I transfer all contacts, calender etc over ok?
Suggestions on a postcard please
The HD2 LEO is the latest and greatest with Snapdragon! See it's section for details:http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=532
But if u want a keyboard, then the TP2.
Touch Pro 2 is the best hardware keyboard device!
We always want more!!
Snapdragon in a few years will be nothing and we still want more speed, more performance......
I strongly recommend you to buy Touch Pro 2. It is more than just a pretty face. It has a tilting screen. It allows for optimum viewing angle when typing, it allows you to easily watch a movie without holding your device, and it's great if you're using GPS navigation in the car.
Thanks guys, any comments on the Hero?
Are they easy to mod and transfer contacts etc from WM?

All HTC devices can be modded thanks to XDA!!
All can be done (almost all )
Motorola Droid is announced tomorrow.
It'll blow the pants of anything we've seen yet.

Hey orb, maybe there will be no keyboard and just visual & voice interface!
Also, there will be Kryptonite Batteries that go a year w/o a recharge!
don't worry about Android. I am a long time WM user, and had a G1 phone for almost a year now. Android is a very very nice system with a lot of software in the Marketplace.
That being said, I just got myself the new Acer neoTouch.
1 GHz Snapdragon, good amout of RAM, nice 3,8" WVGA screen, WM 6.5, configurable accelerometer, nice design, good build quality.
I would say, if you don't need a keyboard and don't want to wait for the HD2, this is the best device today. it is very speedy, has good usability and seems reliable so far.

Yeah mate, you are right
Maybe this phone exists somewhere but if so, I haven't found it - and not for lack of searching. It all started with a 2007 Shadow. I loved the slim size and slide-out form factor, could live with WinMo if I had to but hated the 2.0 mp camera and non-touch screen.
I've tried the Incite, the Kaiser and currently use a G1 for day to day but none of them made me as happy as my Shadow. Part of it's because if I need to make a call I don't like the touch screen dialer. Another factor is the Blackberry-like keyboard arrangement on the Shadow - I really liked it. (I could never master texting using the usual numeric keys.) It's too cumbersome to pop out the G1 or Tilt keyboard, especially dealing with stupid automated phone systems.
I like HTC phones a lot because of the community but am beginning to wonder if somewhere out there is a phone better suited for me. I'd like to stay in the Android fold but does anyone have any suggestions? Has to be GSM and unlockable because I use a weird local carrier, too, although I might consider going back to Sprint (gag) for the perfect phone.
Terry
The Palm Pre might suit you...although there is always more to get out your device when you are running WinMo or Android on an HTC device. WebOS is fantastic but you're stuck with what they give you.

I played with a Pre at a local kiosk and was impressed by how nice it was but not enough better than the G1 to go back to Sprint. Now if the GSM version becomes more affordable and available, maybe...
Thanks,
Terry - now if I could just do a camera transplant on a touch dual
It would be something like this:
VGA 4" screen
From factor like HTC Universal
2ghz processor
1gb RAM
Hardware keyboard
Slim nice design
Made by HTC
A mix of Universal, Rhodium and Leo
I guess I have to wait till 2011 or 2012...
I remember reading that android was working quite well on the HTC Nike a while back. That's the same slide format as the shadow.

It is so very close, but I'm spoiled by the ability to do bar code scanning with the G1. AFAIK, the 2.0 cameras can't do that - which is why I made the comment about the camera transplant. I guess I could look into the port a little closer to see if they made it work or not.
