HTC Touch Pro - Email

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can help.. I have a HTC Touch Pro and have email setup to come straight through to my phone... i can send and recieve emails fine but once i've recieved them and they're in my inbox... after a while they automatically delete themselves..
Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere which allows you to have the option of keeping the mail in the inbox until you delete it yourself?

Does it actually delete from your email account or just not show up on the phone? I think it only looks at recent emails, that's why they disappear.

Nah it doesn't delete them from my email account it just doesnt show up on the phone.. but sometimes when im out and busy and get an email i leave it to reply for a while but it has gone from the phone...

I'd help if I still had mine... Sorry.

Mine works fine with POP3 configuration. Do you use IMAP?

How many days did you select in the email settings? You can select 3, 7, and unlimited I believe...
The TP will only show the messages based on the above selection...

I'm actually using POP3 aswel..
and joeltje, in "Download Messages" I have "All Messages" selected.
The emails i send stay in the 'sent' folder until i delete them.. i would just like the recieved messages to stay in the inbox until i delete them..

Anyone?...

How big is the total amount of messages? Maybe your memory ran out?
I know I can't get my whole inbox on this phone, it simply won't fit

do you only use your phone to get your emails?
if you use another program such as outlook or outlook express, then the emails will be removed from your server and placed in your local inbox on your PC (if you have this setting enabled). Then when your phone syncs with the server, since the emails have been removed, they are removed from your phone.

Re above: Certainly that was what was happening to me. I download emails separately into the phone whilst out and about but had the 'remove from server' option enabled in outlook. Therefore as soon as I opened outlook on the pc they all vanished from the phone - look in account settings and disable this option. You then keep both local copies. This option also exists in the Touch Pro email account settings, if enabled then any emails deleted from your phone will not appear in outlook later!

Are you guys using gmail by any chance? If so, you need to make sure that pop3 is enabled for all messages, otherwise they will be erased off your device if they've been read.

Mine dont....and Im set up as imap

I'd like to know a solution to this too. My Pro seems to retrieve the latest messages and delete older ones from my inbox.
Is there any setting misconfig here. I set mine to 7 days.

Now I have seen the setting but now that I read this thread I cand find it. It has to do with Active sync.
There is option to clean mail box on active sync or WDM I f I find it I will update it.

If anyone is having this problem with gmail, type in "recent:" before your gmail username in the settings and it will go away. The only side effect is that your sent messages go to your inbox too. Not the perfect solution, but better than not seeing any messages at all.

what is the email account? sounds like you're using pop.

No sorry i did not solve the problem..im playing around with it to see if its something in the settings but no having any luck as yet...
Its hard for me to find a solution because sometimes it works fine sometimes it doesnt..

[Q] Mail on phone/Outlook Server

Have been trying to figure this out for some time. It seems from my on-line searches, others have too! I just purchased a Samsung Mesmerize after being a long time Blackberry user. I was hesitant as first, but almost immediately was hooked!
So on to the question: Has anyone figured out how to delete outlook emails from the phone without deleting them from the server? My Blackberry had a function to delete emails only on the device, when I would return to my desktop the emails would still be there. Haven't really found an answer anywhere other than it can't be done...

when i delete an outlook email on my phone it doesn't delete it on my outlook account, what email client are you using

I log onto my work email through an outlook exchange server (i.e. mail.xxxxxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/exchange). I set the email up through the Mesmerize mail client.

mine is the exact same way, and I dont see any settings that even give you a way to change that settings like on black berrys.. so I'm wondering if its set like that on the server side at your work

although, I did set up my outlook account through account and settings, which still uses the default email client, but that's the only thing I did different than you.. it's worth a shot...

Ok, so i just double checked to make sure that mine does not delete off the server which i was sure it didn't... Turns out I was wrong. Mine does delete it off the server, I swear I thought I tested that out when I first set it up and didn't think it did...
Sorry about the confusion...
Also, I'm sure you're aware but when you delete it from your phone it does store it in your trash can on your server, just in case it's something important...

If you use touchdown, it gives you this option, I don't think i'ts free though.

@elijahblake No worries...I have it set to only show emails for 1 day so it's managable. In the big scheme of things it helps keep me organized!

Hotmail/Live settings with custom domain name

I can't find anywhere how to set a Hotmail/Live account that has a custom domain name. On Windows Mobile, the Windows Live app set up seamlessly. If I had a @hotmail.com domain, it would be easy. But my 'Live' email doesn't use the hotmail.com domain.
I need some better search wurds...

Sweet! that did the trick, at least for the email part. Everything I was reading had me trying settings for and Exchange email. Just about every page I found had me tweaking hotmail.com settings, and one combination I tried sync'd my calender and contacts, but only downloaded one email.

OK, went back to the Exchange settings over the pop3. It was working correctly before, I just didn't realize it doesn't back sync earlier emails.
My company email is [email protected][I]xyzcompany[/I].com and I used m.hotmail.com as the server and it seems to be syncing correctly.

OK, this thing won't keep any email that is more than two days old. No matter what number of days I select. It syncs contacts and calender just fine tho.
*scratches head*

SI don't know that it would help but they just released an official hot mail app in the market. I know it isn't the greatest solution but it may solve your problem.

Hey thanks buddy. I searched the market for an 'official' MS app. I was looking for "Windows Live" as my search words, and all I found were 3rd party apps.
It seems to work pretty good. And handles multiple hotmail/Live email accounts.
Now if I can just keep all my contacts straighten out. This phone like to sync toooo dam much info, and I've been deleting duplicates and redundant info for days now! Ah.. gotta love the learning curve that comes with a new (to me) OS.

syncing school edu email w/ phone (?)

Searched but didnt find anything that worked.
Its a google apps email but from a .edu email address. for some reason everytime i try and add the account it says the username or password is incorrect (they are correct). is there a simple fix for this? ive tried manual set ups but can not get this to work. Thank you for any help/suggestions

what I did is add another account to my gmail so that my gmail receives all of my emails and then sorts them into folders so I get them in generally one place. You can do it from settings on a computer. Worked for my ucla email which is a g.ucla.edu

yes it is an edu through gmail. i can push it to my reg gmail account but when i reply it would be coming from my personal gmail and not my .edu email.

You can set it up so that you will reply from the same email within the thread on the same settings page I believe. But also in the from field you can switch between email accounts

Let me clearify. I think I have an answer but I need to understand. You want to make it so that you can reply from an email sent to your school mail from your personal email? Or is it set up that way now and you don't want it that way.

No. i would ultimately like to set up the school email on its own but i am having problems getting the email to sign in and add it as an account. as a temp fix i have my school emails being pushed to my personal email. The issue now is that when i reply to the email i just got to my .edu account, it replies with from my personal email. thanks for the help. let me know if anything is unclear.

Well with my school email I can set it up through my gmail app as any other gmail address but if I want to set it up through AOSP Email or through Outlook I have to specify specific Ports and use SSL

Stock email app issue

So I use the stock email app. But for some reason it loses authentication of all my accounts constantly. When it does it asks me to retype in the password. But it won't actually let me do it. When I click in the text box it just disappears. The only thing i have been able to do is delete the accounts and re add them. Anyone have a fix?

use outlook for android, its a fantastic email program. i also like nine email

I think the stock email is the best email out there (except apples mail app on iOS). So I don't want to is another. But I have this problem too, or something similar. It's just stops syncing and the only way to get it to restart is to reboot or go to account settings and force a resync by going past 'enter password'.

Im trying to decide between stock, gmail, inbox, email by easilydo, or anything else, and I need help! haha

I find it smoother and faster to work with than any of the third party packages. Just my opinion.

Actually I had the same problem with Outlook, which uses OSS authentication, what I did, it was to revoke all permission on my accounts, then clean the cache on the app.
Another way it's to use IMAP settings.
