Qtek 9100 Exchange GPRS Active Syncissue

Firstly thanks to you all for the great help I have gotten from this forum.
I wonder if anyone can help me with an issue I have.
I have a Qtek 9100 and am syncing to an Exchange Server (SP2) using SSL. Everything is working fine, I have my certificate installed on the phone etc..
The phone sycns without fail when connecting via USB however when syncing Over The Air via GPRS about 20% of the time the phone errors. Support Code 0x85010014 . When I look in the log I can see the HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error
A good proportion of the time it works but sometimes it just errors straight away. I don’t think it is a problem on my exchange server as it errors too quickly for it to even have connected to the server. The log also supports this theory.
I also have a i-mate sp5 and this works perfectly without fail every time. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problems and could help.

Internet Sharing with the at&t rom

I feel like a newb asking this question, but the Tilt doesn't have Internet Sharing like the roms for the 8525. The Wireless Modem utility doesn't work worth a chit. I've search for an hour to find a cab for installing Internet Sharing but I can't find it. Surely some of the masters here has come up with one.
Or could I just grab the exe file off my 8525 and run it with any "installing"?

SWEET! Thanks!!
Advantage? So far it is the best option for tethering my laptop. PDANet worked like a charm, but with Internet Sharing it's not need anymore.
I was trying to get the Tilt to work like a modem for a couple hours last night and it would disconnect every time it got to "Registering computer on network". I saw that Internet Connection Sharing (post 30) and gave it a go. Tethered like a charm, 768kbit down ~125ms latency.
The file \Windows\Internet Sharing.lnk contains this text:
41#:MSINTERNET_SHARING?:intshruiapp
And I just copied it to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and can run it from there or the shortcut I created in the HTC Home plugin. You don't have to do anything on the PC to use it either, except have ActiveSync (I think it requires even less because activesync automatically disconnects when this is in use).
I cant get ICS to work on the Tilt. I get "cannot connect for unknown reason" error in ICS window. Any ideas?
Is your "Network Connection" set to MEdia Net? I have two things on my list, that and "AT&T ISP GPRS". If I try that one, it tries to connect a bunch of times then dies with the unknown reason thing.
It gave me that same message if I end-tasked ActiveSync on the PC, so I'd say make sure they both say connected before trying to connect the internet sharing.
Yes, its set to Medianet. Do I need to be connected to my laptop for this to work? I didnt think so.
swweeet i got it working thanks everyone

It won't work if it isn't connected to the laptop. that is what it is for!
help with tethering
Hello everyone I did some of the applications last night on trying to setup my tether to my tilt but its not connecting. I could not find internet sharing to change those setting on download needed cab for it. My phone is set media net and have the correct ip and subnet gateway so what am I missing??
It seems AT&T was pretty successful in killing Tilt Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) with the introduction of 6.1. It was seamless until the upgrade, now it is not. Lotsa complicated workarounds been posted here for the past year and a half. I wish someone who is doing it successfully would post a set of step by step instructions. We novices keep sorting through all these posts on the subject and if there is light at the end of the tunnel, it needs a new bulb!! With data plans getting more and more lucrative for the carriers, tethering is getting more and more important, anyone got a simple answer?

Stop WinMobile establishing data-connections without asking

Hey mates!
First of all I wanna wish you a hapy new year
Ok, now to my question.
I've got a HTC Touch HD a week ago.
I recognized that it establishes a data-connection without asking me.
When i'm using Wifi - no problem.
But as I don't have a data-flat that gets quite expensive, if I can't use Wifi (most of the time no wifi available).
Is it possible to set up Winmobile so that it asks me BEFORE establishing an data connection?
I didn't find any solutions, google didn't help me, too.
Of yourse I could just change the adresses in the settings.
e.g- "internet.t-mobile.de" to "internet.t-mobile.deXXX" ---> no connection possible.
But i want to receive and send MMS at any time, so that would not be possible any more.
I hope you can help me, thx.
greetz
try nodata
this should do what you need....i think
http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility-nodata/
thx, but not really what i need.
With this programm i still have to close connections by hand.
I just want WinMobile to ask me BEFORE it establishes a connection.
For example: When I open an programm which tries to download something, a popup should appear
--->
Establish data-connection?
[ ]Yes
[ ] NO
I hope u understand my problem
greetz
No one with the same problem here and a solutuon?

I have the same problem with my Touch 3G (Jade). Turning the Data Connection off in the Main Touchflow settings tab helps but doesn't stop it completely. The worst thing is that doesn't seem to download anything but just connecting is enough to start costing.
I spoke to HTC today and they gave me a solution to this problem. Go to Settings, Connections, Connections, Advanced and then Select Networks. There you should find a drop down tab with something like ******GPRS, where ****** is your network. Now now choose New and create a new connection name like "No GPRS" for example. Click OK.
You now have a title but no settings so when you select this one, the phone can't connect to the internet. It might attempt to connect but it won't go through. Don't worry about MMS as this uses a different set of settings and works perfectly (for me).
Hope this helps, Woolly.
Find what apps are creating the connection so you can prevent it. Spb Monitor should be able to show you that.
Using Modaco NoData (link given above) will just do the same saving your time (you don't have to create a fake connection set).
What schlitzohr1812 wants is a way to make WM ask for permission to connect. I haven't heard of anything like this, but if you assign a shortcut to NoData it's almost as easy as what you are looking for. By the way, despite the name, NoData will prevent WM from opening connections, not only to exchange data over them.
Just remember that if you disable the connection while it is already open, you still have to close it manually. Also beware that if in your Comm Manager you have an enabled "Data connection" button (on some phones it's always disabled when the connection is closed, on others it can be used to open it), that button WILL open a connection even if they are disabled.
Thx for helping guys, but "Black Antitoon" is right.
That's not exactly what I was searching for but better than nothing.
I'm used to my old nokia phone (N70) which asked me before.
Incomprehensible why Windows Mobile does not have such an option...
greetz Timo
anybody wrote an app for this data permission yet please?

GPRS under control. is it possible?

Hi,
when the wifi signal is lost or activesync is dsconnected, my HTC TouchPro automatically tries to switch to GPRS connection. like when i start browser or messenger application it turns GPRS by default.
My question is: have anybody seen the application or tweak that would show the dialogue window BEFORE the gprs connection established, something like
"application XXX tries to use GPRS connection. and two buttons: Allow|Deny"
that's actually all we need to control GPRS expences, especially when in roaming. (yes, i know about "no data in roaming" app). sometimes it goes like this: you're sure you're online using wifi, and browse or download a film or music. BUT, in the middle of the process the wifi connection is lost, but you didn't notice it, the device switched to GPRS automatically without notice and questions, so the rest of your download becomes golden for you.
if there were such an app with a simple two-buttons-dialogue, life would be easier for all of us... is there?
I have been dreaming for the same thing for like years
actually i had the same problem,
i was browsing comfortably using wifi, but unknown to me, when the signal got interrupted, it switched to GPRS...
actually we would know if we look at the icon, but it's absurd to look at the icon every once in a while...
so, my solution was... to call up the provider, and have them terminate the GPRS service.
it might not serve you any good, since you probably still need the option to be able to go online when there's no wifi, but it served my purpose really well.
So, as i can see, it's not just my whim - it's really necessary add-on. are here some advanced members, coders who are able to solve it? afaik, this feature is not available in winmobile itself, but somehow implemented by Nokia, for example.
Got IT!
guys,
i found the solution. it appears much easier than i expected: just check the
start/settings/sounds and notifications/notifications - connection established. [i have localized WM version, menu strings in english version may vary from my translation. so, just find something close by meaning]
that's it!
good luck.
Yes, I always set it like that so I know it connects with GPRS/3G but I won't still ask me if I want to connect or not, the notification is only good way to try to disconnect it quickly... if I am the one using the phone but if someone else is using it, it's just worthless.

CoPilot trial and internet connection

I've searched in the forum but I didn't find anything about it.
I've just installed the trial version of CoPilot for TD2, but every time I launch it I see a message that sounds like "CoPilot needs to confirm your trial period by accessing Internet every time you use it".
So the question is: does it really connect to internet every time I start the program? I'm going abroad and I was planning to test it, but if it is going to use internet it will cost me a fortune!
Thank you
Bruno.
I used the trial and as far as I can tell it does try to check each time its run, try an experiment, block your data connections (NODATA) then see if it runs, I did have a situation where I didn't have a data connection (bad signal area) and it did start up, it might not need to check every time??
I did have some issues with Copilot though, if I went find a destination from a Contact section, as soon as I selected a key on the keyboard (to go to a contact) it crashed out. Also it had trouble with several contacts in finding a street location for them.

I had a big arguement with CoPilot support about this - the software does in fact require internet connection to verify your status everytime you start it - I pointed out to the guy at CoPilot that this was ridiculous since on their start page they say that "Copilot doesn't use mobile internet for sat nav" .... but you do need it everytime you start it so without internet connection, you can't really use Copilot even though it might not need it for the satnav part!!!!
But, whilst trying it out, I think (but no guarantees) that once you log on to start Copilot, it might place some kind of tag about the expiry date and if you then block your data connection, you may still be able to use it by clicking on cancel on the welcome page of Copilot that tells you it needs to verify your license.
So give that a try and see if it works .... good luck and happy travels
Not a problem for me
Hi all
I used Copilot during the trial period and since buying it and it's never asked for an internet connection when the wireless is off. It's version:
7.8.0.351
Cheers

What map version do you have? In trial it's only 0804.
0804 maps
Hi
Yep, 0804 maps. You don't get anything extra when you buy it.
Cheers
