Midget v0.1 Vanilla Crossbow Rom (Based on Helmi's Unreleased Rom)

Unknown to me, the 'clean' source i was given to make this ROM was actually heavily customized already to fix some major bugs and flaws by Helmi_C. He deserves the main credit for this ROM, but i will continue to keep it up to date - no hard feelings?
Hi, as you may know I've been here (xda-developers) for quite a while, In this time i have been learning the art form that is rom building, my teachers (at least i think of it like that include maimach (How can he be human?), Tuatara (God of all things WM5 on BA), Lt.Cmdr.Ivan, Helmi_c and many others (thanks everyone, sorry if i didnt mention you)
Finally in December 2006 i had a chance to use this knowledge i have gathered when i acquired a pre-release version of WM6 from a good friend (you know who you are ) Since then i've spent days tweaking and fixing bugs in this rom, i wanted to wait until it was perfect to release, but due to recent event s i think now would be the best time, so i present you with My first ROM for Universal and my First Crossbow rom...

Video Calling doesn't work (im working on this - thanks bepe)
In REALvga mode (addon cab) if you have owner information or password set to display on boot then you will hang your device, hard reset needed. im stuck as to what is causing this, anyone got any ideas?
Occasionally after flashing the phone will reset into bootloader - not load OS. a quick "set 14 0" in mtty fixes this (again anyone got any ideas?)

so basicly its a modify to vanila version and added vga functionality? well, if u dont mine send me ur default.hv let me see what difference that u make my friend...

I found one more problem. I tried to use oZVGA mode in this release and most of the icons disappeared. The taskbar became blank.. i couldnt see the start button. oZVGA doesnt work with this release of crossbow it seems.
Please try to fix that Midget.

I said 40?! that would be nice lol, must have been a typo
bear in mind that some of the tweaks are separate in the cab file i linked to.
try the comm manager too, its MUCH faster

did you read what i wrote?
you need to install my vga mode cab (i wanted to save space so i dnt include it) this install the icons etc and ozvga

reshacker to change the interface (new background, the buttons are still in the making - each button has 5 part so it takes time) to make it fit in with wm6 and upx

Why do I only get 26 of free mem?

Extended Rom is seen as a drive and Outlook use it to store mail attachment (impossible to change the storage used) For other office program you can use SD CARD.
And it's impossible to hide Extended Rom
So I use an empty extended Rom

I'm having issues to flash this rom.
When I click "Upgrade" button, my uni reboot, and i can't upgrade it.

I have tried to put into bootloader first, but I cant upgrade. I included the RUU.conf.
I'm not using a usb hub also.
Maybie a old bootloader version?

Ok, I got it.
Flashing the rom now.
After i get the version of the rom on the upgrader I put the device on bootloader and press "Upgrade".

where to find WM6.0 with no extras?

Help me out guys. Tell me if it's a good idea to install a fresh WM6.0 ROM into my JASJAR with no extras at all and then install only the software i want?
If so, please tell me where to download an uncooked/unmodded version of WM6!!

also, look around, and keep a watch for "Vanilla" ROMs, these are the ones that only have the system core, and some essential software, without which the system would be pretty crippled.
Beasty is going to release a new Vanilla edition of the Beasty&Leo Amalgam ROM, so far the best one

I've tried almost all of ROMs available here - "Mo3ulla CE OS: 5.2.1933 Build: 18533.0.7.0 [v1] extreme fast vanilla" is THE BEST (for my UNI with all soft I use). Thank you Mo3ulla.
There is one small problem with Cyberon Voice Speed Dial - after I push the button activating the program it does not wait for voice tag but starts dialing itself any number from Contacts list.
Anyway not using voice speed dialing - I haven't found better ROM for me

I've updated my JASJAR with your Windows Mobile 6.0 (CE OS 5.2.1933 Build 18533.0.7.0 ROM 2.11.09 G4M EROM Unknown RADIO 1.18.00), installed the Broadcomm Bluetooth Stack and updated the WiFi service.
Everything is as beautiful and fast as can be expected. Really a great great ROM.
I do have some minor problems though, i think you can help:
1) I need to change the hard keyboard from Russian to English and don't know how to edit the registry on my JASJAR. Could you help me out with this?
2) I need to change the bootscreen ... WoW really isn't my thing I tried editing the welcomehead.192.png file but it isn't letting me update it. Any recommendations?
3) I need to remove the Alt-Tab application and Solitaire. How do i go about doing that?
4) After installing BroadComm BT Stack and WiFi service, i've got only 29 MB storage memory and 21 MB program memory left. Is that how it's supposed to be?
Out of curiosity (and no offense, really!! the ROM is the best i've seen so far), are you planning to update this ROM with all the above mentioned stuff fixed?

2) The rar extraction idea was great and worked perfectly!
3) Again, sorry for the noobness asking to delete these apps. Removing them from Windows->StartMenu->Programs works perfectly fine as well!

What's the battery life compared to the (other) WM6 ROMS?

Downloaded, flashed - works good! WPA-TSK (TKIP) works without problems for me. So far this is the fast one but let's see who stable it will be...

Pdaviet WM6.1 really fast
This rom is really fast, it seems stable. Just 3 little problems so far, plug ins for spb diary do not show except defaults, pocket player skins do not show, always keep default skin. Bluetooth audio is not recognized, only handfree.

A2DP doesn't, neither WPA-TSK (TKIP) for me...

SD card problem
There is problem appeared: SD card (2gb) keeps on disconnected on no obvious reasons. Have to slide out then in again and it works. Could be that Wisbar advance&desktop creates problems. Otherwise so far so good. Tested WPA-TSK (TKIP) on various occasions (3COM and Linksys wifi routers) - no problems. Even after automatic turn off it connects without problems

Same Problem ... SD 2gb disconnects itself & sometimes it shows only folders (without files) in the storage card.
I'm not running Wisbar softwares on my device but I've SPB Pocket+ installed !
Other than this problem, I find this ROM to be fastest of all..!

Looks like there problem with SD driver.... Was trying to find "Storage Settings" ver 2.0 from HTC - Does anyone has cab file?...

I think you will find THIS PAGE has the file you need and I can confirm it works on mine. BUT put it onto a clean ROM before anything else. I tried to put it on mine once I was having problems and it didn't work then. I'm into my third day on this ROM and the SD card shows every time.
Also, The fault on the camera buttons is cured well by reassigning the camera button back to the camera, even though it is already. Not everyone had this fault I understand,

Thanks for the head up. My storage card completely disappeared but when I installed this app everything works fine again.

This was the best ROM so for for me. I have been using Jwrightmcpsrom and this one was ten times faster and more stable
Only problem I have and its a big one for me is I use T-mobile trigger plugin. I could not get it to get the email automatically. I would have to hit send and recieve myself. I guess saying that I have to return to Jwrightmcps latest rom.

otherwise i didn't add .net 3.5 so it won't work

i don't know why my Dopod 577w runs out of battery so quick ? With WM6.1 Standard, it lasts around 2 days but now with this WM6.1 Pro, it is only 1 day.
Another bug is the wrong in battery status report. Sometimes it said the battery is about 70-80% but just a call (around 5 minutes), the phone is off because no battery left

i didn't notice this bug
let others test for a while and if they report the same bug, i will try to solve it

For 2-3 hour to navigate on wap,menu and connection settings it's disappared entirely! :hmm:

i need a sdhc card user for testing sdhc driver
i will try to implement the driver if it works
please send me a pm

but first i want to implement sdhc driver, but i don't have sdhc card, i need some help

if many people use office, i won't remove it

actually, it doesn't increase storage memory as what i expected(actually it seems not a single byte, probably i'm doing something wrong )

no i didn't put in this rom but i will send the cab file of driver
if it works, i will implement, if not i will try to find another driver

I love your v8.0 ROM. I think the only thing I add to your ROM is PocketCM (which I believe can't be added because of updating etc) and GPRS programs (Route66 etc).
However if I go into settings/system/about, I notice the memory differs (the ROM memory, not the free stuff). Why is that? Is is possible to make a ROM with more Memory?

After loading your roms I usually add:
TouchFlo_v1.4.1 + FTouchFloConfig_v0.9 -> without any graphics, i use this to enable finger scroling in all windows apps, like file explorer, comboboxs, lists etc
BatteryStatusExt.1.05 -> i only select the second row (Indicators) to see in the home screen and in windows bar the cpu usage, to know if the universal is working or not , i would like an app that only puts in the windows bar the cpu usage and the ram available (Wasn't that good to have one of our light indicators flashing when our cpu reaches 100%? almost like our PCs with the disk light? This is possible, one program that set the SD card like a usb disk used the lights to show activity...)

Video Call (One idea, since we can't have VC in wm6 why not use a rom from wm5 and add the latest things? I know some things come with windows, but we could have a wm5 rom up to date)
One thing I would ask too is a counter of the kbs that we use in gprs/umts, we have a time counter but we are not paying by time but by kbs... (and better better was a way to filter msn traffic since here in Portugal we have free messenger 8) )
I'm happy with the black theme, but yes it would be good to be able to change
All and all I would like a Rom with the least things in RAM but with all the minimum features installed or in cabs (installed if there are tweaks fot them)
The most important thing for me is to use the pda with fingers and without precision so i can use it while walking, riding the train etc

I agree.. sorta.
a more vanilla ish rom with nothing except things like tie sync sd settings advanced config arcsoft mms..
that way people can add the things that they want after.. the things I listed are usually needed to set up the device. actully just mms and sd settings are really needed since cabs for everything else exist.. and arcsoft doesn't really like to be installed after the fact.

I like the idea and your rom releases, maybe you could improve 7.7 and make 7.8 Its a very good rom already, maybe just need some more enhancements posted at the 7.7 thread.

download arcsoft 4.2 from here
first install 1_install_cert.cab and then 2_dattad_ArcsoftMMS_v4.2.8.1.cab

And multilanguage if possible

I would be happy with 7.7 minus MyMobiler, WkTask Manager, Bubble Breaker, PIE, WMP and other similarly useless bits and pieces that take space. So yep, 7.7 or 7.8 in vanilla would do me fine. Got everything else in .CABs anyway - Opera, Conduits Player, TouchFlo, All Black .tsk, Diamond apps and now testing SKYPE that works for 8.0 on 7.7.
And, of course, Video Call is on my Christmas wishlist....
