How's your sliding mech. holding up? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

It seems that lately, when the phone slide is closed, I am able to separate the phone from itself by about 1mm to 1 1/2 mm...seems as if the sliding mech. is losing its hold on the phone (even by a bit)...
when I use the screen to type, I hear it clicking/taping against itself--
anyone else having this situation arise?
Slowly evolving into a tilt here...

Same here, it sucks. I will probably sell it before it is too much and then buy a Touch Pro 2. But Mine is loose on the side where there is no slide (left), it is still strong on the right side.

Mine's still good and pretty snug. I baby it tho. Still wondering for that first drop. I hate dropping my babies. Lol.

yea, mine is doing great,
Ive dropped it a couple of times, yet it still seems as strong as it was when i got it. I also have a snug fitting plastic cover on mine, so that helps it even more.

Service Manual for the HTC Touch Pro/Raphael
Mine got a bit funny too - after it came back from HTC service center for screen replacement. However, I'm planning on dissmanteling my Raph and check for loosen screws.
If you guys wanna give it a try too, I'm attaching a link for official Service Manual for the HTC Touch Pro/Raphael - it's a hardcore, step-by-step how to dissmantle Raphael down to the smallest pieces ....have fun!

i guess if push comes to shove I'll rip this baby apart and see if I need to tighten up some of the lose parts-IF it gets bad.
I baby my phone as well, and have only had it for 4 months.
Eh, if it's put back together, and it works, then that means these extra screws weren't that important to begin with.

First was buggy, now cool
My first fuze made a weird sound but i replaced it and I haven't heard anything from this one

I don't think screws would be the culprit. The slider is on rails isn't it? So the fix would be to bend/tighten/replace the rails?
Mine is getting a little sloppy. I hate having the volume buttons on the top screen portion too. Every time I try to press it, the phone will more apt to try to open then press the button in.

sometimes my sliding mechanism is a bit slow to catch up with the body i.e it can slide out ok, but if you look at the back of the screen when the kb is open, there's a small rectangle i guess where the ?cables go. sometimes mine stays there for a few seconds, then goes down. if this makes sense to people.

my fuze rattles

When the screen is up to expose the keyboard there is a rattling sound. When the keyboard is down, no rattle.
who else has experienced this?
Do you think I should return it? If not, do you know what it is that rattles?
( this is not the "spring noise" that I have been reading about, at least I don't think it is)
mine does that
when its slid open there is a piece on the screen part on the side with the camera that can b moved
duno if its normal
Do you mean to say I can see the cause of the noise if I take the battery cover off, or did you disassemble your phone to find it?
no no
just slide the screen out
turn it over
when u look at the back ul see an indent that can be pushed in and out slightly it rattles
well at least now I know what is rattling, thanks
np
but i would like to know if everyone has this

I see the same thing. looks like a cover plate for something.
Yeah i noticed it, too.
It isn't too bad but it is a little annoying.
If you slide that piece enough, you can see a ribbon cable.
It's the ribbon cable that connects the two halves of the phone. There is a little trap door there that covers it up while in the open position. If you watch it as you close the phone, the door opens as you slide it closed. But as it does that, it put tension on the spring, the tension keeps it tight when the phone is closed. When you open, no more tension and it has a little play in it. They should have spec'd the spring to have a little tension on it even in the open position so it would hold it still like when it's closed.
Oh well, probably some reason for it. Nothing to worry about at all though.
I was talking to my buddy at ATT last night. All the Fuze's have the rattle including mine. Nothing to worry
as long as it keeps the damn white screen away im happy
as long as it keeps the damn white screen away im happy
ya I was checking that out, it does look like all they needed was to keep a little spring tension on the door even when its all the way out

Mine rattles when closed. annoying
It's a little annoying, not because of the sound but because it makes it seem that much less unfinished. For our money we shouldn't get rattling phones.
My Fuze never rattled til now...
Well, this seems to be a big issue. On mine, the spring doesn't seem to keep the trap door on the back of the display shut at all, its almost "jamming" sometimes when you close the keyboard. I shouldn't have to check to make sure nothing is in the way when retracting the keyboard.
I almost want to scotch tape the black trap door shut to keep it from moving around.
There is a "silver" rectangular metal plate connected to the tension spring that seems to have come loose somehow.
The black door can be slid back and forth freely, as there is "nothing" holding it shut.
I don't like lose metal parts moving around inside my electronics that aren't connected to things they should be. Not at what we paid for this thing.
I see dust problems in the display in the future. I wonder if its time for warranty action?

[AT&T Fuze] Control plate coming loose?

I have had my Fuze for about a week and I notice today that the control plate (D-pad, call, end call, etc. buttons) is loosening. I can push the right side (end call and back buttons) up and touches the edge of the screen. The left side is still pretty tight. I am wondering if that much free play on the left is normal or not. All the buttons still work, but kinda worry when this happen on a expensive device after just one week of usage.
I have had 2 and had the AT&T store open up another 2 for me to check. The first one I had for 24 hours and the screen was tight, my new one the screen is loose and the 2 I had them open were loose. I guess its just a trait of the phone.
Thanks for the info. Nothing is perfect I guess.

Anyone tried replacing the screen?

I'm don't actually want to replace the screen. But I would like to get behind the screen so I can glue it down some.
My problem is the right side of the screen is not flush. It's a bit above the chrome. I kinda lifted it up when I was trying to pull off the screen protecter, but accident pull up the screen instead. I can press on it back down, but it goes right back up.
So I just want to be able to accesse the back/side of it and add a tiny bit of crazy glue to keep it down.
I took off the two screws from the back of the screen (nothing came off) ...nothing came loose.

sorry for my reaction but this kind of shocking information combined with bad english feels really funny. I can almost imagine a VERY foreign guy talking really fast at nighttime on some alley in downtown and lashing with fuze like ti would be like an old Nokia brick.

How are your phones holding up?

I've noticed that the slider functionality of my phone, possibly due to user-abuse, is starting to slide off the rails*. I've also noticed that the top is beginning to extend over the bottom... on the side with the PTT button. Is this my fault, or is everyone else having the same problem.
*To define: hold the phone in your hand, and place your thumb on the bottom-left corner of the top "slider-part", (could someone give me the word that should be used in place of "slider-part") push toward the right... Does the bottom, of the top, of your phone slide out by itself? Mine only moves about an 1/8th of an inch, but I'm curious if everyone shares this problem as well.
My phone slides out about the same 1/8 as yours, but i think it was like that even when it was brand new.
Yes it does happen to me, nothing perfect...it's just the sliding mechanism moving on one side and not the other..
I have the same movement on mine. My fuze is 7 weeks old, I use the sliding mechanism, on average, 3 times a day.
When I received my phone I double checked the sliding mechanism - the same movement was present when new. Based on other posts, this appears to be normal.
Other than that, my fuze is doing well. I purchased the ATT store cover (rubberized cover in two pieces) which is really good (although expensive ). I do find that the rubberized cover makes it difficult to put into my trouser pocket, thus I tend to carry it everywhere I go...
I've had that issue since I got it in Nov last year. Other than that, it's working and looking perfectly well. I should also note that I have an invisible shield that's working wonders for the phone. With it installed, I get a better grip on the phone (doesn't feel like I'm going to drop it), obviously no scratches, and fingerprint issues are far less severe.
My first phone slid off the rails too so I called AT&T and they sent me a reconditioned one. Now the slider on the new one actually pulls away from the main body. So I called AT&T again and they are sending me a another phone. Fingers crossed......
The play in the rails seems normal... I do about 4,500 texts a month... so slide open, slide closed over and over again... still holding strong had the Touch Pro since November of 08
My first kaiser (tilt) had that overhang when closed. It bothered me a lot. AT&T wouldn't exchange it, so I superglued a thin, tiny square of vinyl to the bumper at the end of the track to act like a shim, leaving the top and bottom flush when closed. The next two warranty exchanges I got (for other issues) had no such issue, and thankfully, neither does my fuze.
im uber careful with my phone but its so fragile its just breaking apart. the hard keys are coming up, the slider is now over like everyone else, there are small scratches everywhere, and kinda weird is the camera glass is broken around the edges.
My phone is holding up well with the rubberized cover
Holding up well to date, but seldom use the keyboard as have grown accustomed to using FITALY on the Fuze.
Also am using Capdase BiFold case for general protection + top shell of Innocase to help ward off the laminate separation that some users have complained of. (Also helps keep things from resting on the screen.)
May be Overkill, but hope to have this unit for some time....

Has anybody found a video for reassembly?
(x-posted from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863898&page=2)
Phew. Just replaced my digitizer using the latter video. Putting it back together was fairly straight-forward by just following the video backwards, though a 'put back together' video would be convenient.
A couple minor caveats:
They skipped showing some phillips screws holding the motherboard in place (near the end). I think there were two of them. They're fairly obvious if you know to look for them.
I attempted to reuse the existing adhesive by reheating and applying pressure. This sort of worked, but the digitizer seems a tad loose. I don't think it's going to fall off, but it'd probably be better to remove the old adhesive and apply some fresh adhesive. Anyone know where to get a suitable adhesive?

The comments on the YouTube video say that 3M adhesive works, or buying the adhesive for the iphone and cutting to fit.

I got the kick in the balls feeling today BEFORE watching the video:
My wife calls and says, "I dropped my phone.... (pause)... and shattered the screen..."
I'm going to order a screen and bust this out soon. Not going to be easy as I fractured my left pinkie metacarpal a couple weeks ago. Needless to say, dexterity is a bit low right now and that video doesn't give me the most confidence.
I guess she'll be back on a G1 (CM6) for a while. At least its still Froyo

Guys I need some help here please
Completely tore it down took 2 broken phone to make one completely working great.
The problem I am having is putting the rear plastic frame on correctly.
Either it's on but volume button are depressed or all buttons are functioning but the 2 bottom corners will not stay in place I get one to snap in & the other pops out or booth pop out.
Can someone please direct me to some pics or a video on how to correctly replace the rear plastic frame.
Thanks
I might just do this for my sister, she dropped her mtg4 and broke the glass screen. Hopefully it works out for her.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Anyone have issues after replacing the screen? I've got an issue where the touch sensitivity is all jacked up. Sometimes it recognizes my touch sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes when pressing something it acts like im pressing somewhere totally different.

Clear plastic piece and settings button info
I had to fix the screen for my niece's phone. Go to imgur and type 'QW7TI' in (I am not allowed to post links as a new member). Where does this go? I have looked at numerous tutorials and cannot find what it belongs to. Second, when I put the phone back together, the settings button does not push down. It seems to be fine until I place the back cover plate on. Then this puts pressure on the area and the tactile click does not work and the settings do not come up. I need this finished by five for her birthday. It was her mother's phone and she had shattered the screen. Any help would be awesome! Thanks!
Niceee, I need to tear mine down someday to clear all the dirtiness
