[AT&T Fuze] Control plate coming loose? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I have had my Fuze for about a week and I notice today that the control plate (D-pad, call, end call, etc. buttons) is loosening. I can push the right side (end call and back buttons) up and touches the edge of the screen. The left side is still pretty tight. I am wondering if that much free play on the left is normal or not. All the buttons still work, but kinda worry when this happen on a expensive device after just one week of usage.

I have had 2 and had the AT&T store open up another 2 for me to check. The first one I had for 24 hours and the screen was tight, my new one the screen is loose and the 2 I had them open were loose. I guess its just a trait of the phone.

Thanks for the info. Nothing is perfect I guess.

Home key rubbing against screen.

Hey guys, does your home key rub against the top screen portion? Mine is probably slightly angled by less than .5mm and it causes the home key to rub against the button part of the screen. You can feel it, it feels different than pressing the back arrow button.
I had quite similar home key issue as the glossy cover on it started to roll up from the upper left corner (which is near to the top screen portion). The rolling area was smaller than 1 square mm and the good thing was that it was not elastic at all so I just pushed it down again with she stylus
If it is just the cover then maybe try coaxing it back (not the button, just cover of it) with some finer instrument than the stylus that would fit to the slit. The material IS quite pliant!
No mine doesn't rub at all. how long have you had the phone? I'd return it, and get another that doesn't rub.
I'm with sprint and had the same issue with the first two TP's I had. I used my 30 day no questions asked to return them.
This third one I got day b4 yesterday is sweet. All the issues I had with the other two are gone. Phone is nice and sturdy and is a great quality build.
I'd swap out for sure.
Yeah I would get another one, but the thing is, I got an unlock code for this one through ATT. I personally don't have ATT myself but paid a friend to get it for me. So if I get a replacement, I don't think ATT will give out another unlock code. I have had it for about a week now.

How are your phones holding up?

I've noticed that the slider functionality of my phone, possibly due to user-abuse, is starting to slide off the rails*. I've also noticed that the top is beginning to extend over the bottom... on the side with the PTT button. Is this my fault, or is everyone else having the same problem.
*To define: hold the phone in your hand, and place your thumb on the bottom-left corner of the top "slider-part", (could someone give me the word that should be used in place of "slider-part") push toward the right... Does the bottom, of the top, of your phone slide out by itself? Mine only moves about an 1/8th of an inch, but I'm curious if everyone shares this problem as well.
My phone slides out about the same 1/8 as yours, but i think it was like that even when it was brand new.
Yes it does happen to me, nothing perfect...it's just the sliding mechanism moving on one side and not the other..
I have the same movement on mine. My fuze is 7 weeks old, I use the sliding mechanism, on average, 3 times a day.
When I received my phone I double checked the sliding mechanism - the same movement was present when new. Based on other posts, this appears to be normal.
Other than that, my fuze is doing well. I purchased the ATT store cover (rubberized cover in two pieces) which is really good (although expensive ). I do find that the rubberized cover makes it difficult to put into my trouser pocket, thus I tend to carry it everywhere I go...
I've had that issue since I got it in Nov last year. Other than that, it's working and looking perfectly well. I should also note that I have an invisible shield that's working wonders for the phone. With it installed, I get a better grip on the phone (doesn't feel like I'm going to drop it), obviously no scratches, and fingerprint issues are far less severe.
My first phone slid off the rails too so I called AT&T and they sent me a reconditioned one. Now the slider on the new one actually pulls away from the main body. So I called AT&T again and they are sending me a another phone. Fingers crossed......
The play in the rails seems normal... I do about 4,500 texts a month... so slide open, slide closed over and over again... still holding strong had the Touch Pro since November of 08
My first kaiser (tilt) had that overhang when closed. It bothered me a lot. AT&T wouldn't exchange it, so I superglued a thin, tiny square of vinyl to the bumper at the end of the track to act like a shim, leaving the top and bottom flush when closed. The next two warranty exchanges I got (for other issues) had no such issue, and thankfully, neither does my fuze.
im uber careful with my phone but its so fragile its just breaking apart. the hard keys are coming up, the slider is now over like everyone else, there are small scratches everywhere, and kinda weird is the camera glass is broken around the edges.
My phone is holding up well with the rubberized cover
Holding up well to date, but seldom use the keyboard as have grown accustomed to using FITALY on the Fuze.
Also am using Capdase BiFold case for general protection + top shell of Innocase to help ward off the laminate separation that some users have complained of. (Also helps keep things from resting on the screen.)
May be Overkill, but hope to have this unit for some time....

How's your sliding mech. holding up?

It seems that lately, when the phone slide is closed, I am able to separate the phone from itself by about 1mm to 1 1/2 mm...seems as if the sliding mech. is losing its hold on the phone (even by a bit)...
when I use the screen to type, I hear it clicking/taping against itself--
anyone else having this situation arise?
Slowly evolving into a tilt here...
Same here, it sucks. I will probably sell it before it is too much and then buy a Touch Pro 2. But Mine is loose on the side where there is no slide (left), it is still strong on the right side.
Mine's still good and pretty snug. I baby it tho. Still wondering for that first drop. I hate dropping my babies. Lol.
yea, mine is doing great,
Ive dropped it a couple of times, yet it still seems as strong as it was when i got it. I also have a snug fitting plastic cover on mine, so that helps it even more.
Service Manual for the HTC Touch Pro/Raphael
Mine got a bit funny too - after it came back from HTC service center for screen replacement. However, I'm planning on dissmanteling my Raph and check for loosen screws.
If you guys wanna give it a try too, I'm attaching a link for official Service Manual for the HTC Touch Pro/Raphael - it's a hardcore, step-by-step how to dissmantle Raphael down to the smallest pieces ....have fun!

i guess if push comes to shove I'll rip this baby apart and see if I need to tighten up some of the lose parts-IF it gets bad.
I baby my phone as well, and have only had it for 4 months.
Eh, if it's put back together, and it works, then that means these extra screws weren't that important to begin with.
First was buggy, now cool
My first fuze made a weird sound but i replaced it and I haven't heard anything from this one
I don't think screws would be the culprit. The slider is on rails isn't it? So the fix would be to bend/tighten/replace the rails?
Mine is getting a little sloppy. I hate having the volume buttons on the top screen portion too. Every time I try to press it, the phone will more apt to try to open then press the button in.
sometimes my sliding mechanism is a bit slow to catch up with the body i.e it can slide out ok, but if you look at the back of the screen when the kb is open, there's a small rectangle i guess where the ?cables go. sometimes mine stays there for a few seconds, then goes down. if this makes sense to people.

My phone is touching itself :(

Hi folks,
Long story short, when it wants to, my phone is touching itself.
More specifically, the top right hand corner of the screen.
So, sitting on the home screen it's constantly clicking and re-clicking the system tray item.
When keyboard is slid out, the button in the same corner is the bloody Start button, so it's constantly clicking Start!!!!
Not a constant problem.
Sometimes I can use the rest of the phone alright but sometimes the screen is just unresponsive to touches.
Any suggestions?
I have 7 months left on my plan and its driving me insane.
Cheers

lol is ur phone on ecstasy, lol i was dying with laughter when i read ur subject
same with me but sorry, i have no idea how to help u with your problem
sounds like you have a bad spot on your digitizer.
Yeah this sounds like a typical Digitizer problem. You could buy one on eBay or DealExtreme for just a few dollars/euro's (10-15). Good luck with it!
Would you, by chance, be using a Snap-On Shell/Protector on your device?
I know I bought a couple Snap-On Hard Plastic shells for 2 of my Fuzes.. and both Cases constantly tapped the Taskbar opening the Notification Screen.
^^^What he said. It could be as simple as that. I've had two different snap-on protectors and my phone did that. It took me to get the second case (and about 2 months) before I realized what was going on lol. If so, go grab some sand paper and go to town. I eventually just took mine off. Hope this helps.

[Q] Screen appears loose in the top left corner of Nexus S

Hi,
I've had my Nexus S for less than 4 weeks, and I just noticed today that the top right corner of the screen seems to have some give when you press on it. It apparently just started happening now... Anyone else have this issue with their phone? I'm wondering if I should just run to Best Buy and have them exchange the phone for me before it's too late...
Thanks,
Mike
I don't have that problem with mine but in your case looks like you might have to take that trip to best buy
Sent from my Nexus S
if you look at it, does the surface of the top corner part raised a bit compared to the other corners or sides?
I ask because I tried to press gently on the corners and also the sides and there's a very slight give. It maybe because of the type of screen (plastic?) causing the give when pressed?
yeah it appears to be ever so slighlty raised, and has a very slight give...
any word on if this is normal? I have the same issue with the bottom capacitive side....it is noticeably lose sometimes, I can push it then it becomes tight...then the capacitive buttons wont work unless I turn off the screen then turn it back on.
My 2 week old Nexus S just started doing this. It feels like the screen is attached with glue and the screen has separated from the frame. I can press on it and it sticks for a moment, but if press a minute later it clicks again.
My phone had the same problem.. Upper right screen was lifting ever so slightly. I was passed my thirty days so i couldn't bring it back to bestbuy. My only option was to send it to samsung for repair. The problem was that they had it for almost three weeks and when i got it back the screen was still lifting up. I had to send it back out and almost three weeks later (again) i got it back and it was fixed. They ended up replacing the PBA. Not exactly sure what that is but the phone is fixed.
