Last friday I got a touch pro to replace a broken titan.
After I got it the data connection seemed flakey (it downloaded weather but I couldnt get the web). I called Sprint and they said I needed to call back on a different line. Before I could do so the data connection started working fine.
Shortly after I unlocked the phone via SD, and flashed to Juicy's 6 rom via SD. (I have previously flashed my 6700 and 6800)
The flash worked fine but at some point my data connection stopped working. I cant say for sure if it was before the flash or after.
I spent the last 3-4 days messing around with it, with tech support and by myself. After flashing back to stock and relocking it, I brought it into a Sprint store and they couldnt fix it either.
Sprint gave me another Touch Pro and everything is working fine, but I really like the rhodium calendar! but I am hesitant to try flashing it again.
So my question is: Did flashing mess up my original TP? So I have any concerns flashing it? Like I said I have flashed my 6700 and 6800 a bunch of times and never had a data connection problem.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I've flashed many times and never had any problems with data.
Did you hard reset after flashing to the ROM?
Or it could just be the ROM. Was it for Sprint?
yip Derek is right, had many flashes and never had data problems.... thats just your service provider
btw, and this is a general suggestion.. for every device you'll ever have. if there's a problem with a specific ROM, it's 99.9% certain that someone had stumbled into the problem you experienced before. you should always go to the ROM's thread and either search it or ask people if they've experienced the same problem - if they did, it's probably the ROM, if not, it's probably your device. the cooks in xda-devs are usually HIGHLY aware of how things work and they receive tons of feedback.. which works well for everyone.

Half the time when I try to go to a website the Fuze just times out. Loads forever and times out.
When it doesn't time out, it's slow as molasses.
I can throw my SIM in either of my other two 3G phones, sitting in the exact same spot, and everything flows just fine.
Anyone else having this issue?
I'm about ready to take this back, after months of waiting for its release, because the data connection is so unreliable.
have you tried tweaking it and maybe flash to another rom?
or maybe you just have a lemon. Get it exchanged and see if problem persists.

Have already returned it for a different one. Exact same issue. Actually I've posted a lot of details about this, if you look at my other posts.
Many others are having this same issue. Many others in the threads on here, like the HSDPA / 3G Fuze threads. Here's a guy on ATT forums with the exact same symptoms as me: http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=108522
I do not want to flash to a different ROM because I saw someone in another thread post that they tried flashing back to the stock ATT ROM and it didn't work. Haven't seen anyone post saying that it DOES work for this specific phone to the ATT ROM.
If it was just "kinda slow" I would mess with tweaks and other ROMs, but the fact that it's literally unusable makes me want to just give up and possibly re-buy the phone if and when a REAL fix for it comes along.
The frustrating thing is it seems like about half people are getting awesome speeds on this phone, and the other half are getting abysmal, unusable speeds. I've seen a lot of posts on here of people saying they're just returning the Fuze as it's useless. I'm so disappointed, I really wanted this phone bad.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm actually on my second Fuze right now (returned the first one for some stupid reason). Both phones had around the same speed. It's not stellar, but at least it's not doing terribly worse than my friend's iphone 3g, which I use as a comparison cuz we all know they're the connection hoggers.
Have you tried calling AT&T tech support? They've been extremely helpful with some of my questions.
Lastly, why not just flash it? May people are having a bit of a problem getting stock ROM to work after flashing it back, but if you're going to exchange it, who said the stock ROM has to work flawlessly? Besides, someone will eventually find a way to fully re-flash stock ROM soon, not that I'd ever understand why anyone would want to do that aside for warranty purposes.
I would bring your phone to AT&T store, talk to the manager (chances are someone working there also has a Fuze). Tell them your problem and ask them to do a comparison. Cuz right now I can only think of two possibilities:
1) you got 2 lemons in a row
2) Stock ROM really sucks
Good luck
Thanks man. I might just try a flash and see. I have not called tech support yet even though I've been thinking about doing that for days, because it's such a hair pulling experience, i just hate going through the phone systems and then getting people who don't have a clue what your'e talking about.
I did email the manager of the store, mainly about a different issue I had with the process and the associate (who lied to my face repeatedly, but i wont go into details) and mentioned the problems i'm having with my phone and the fact that the replacement is the same way.
I also live in OC (southern cal) and have heard others are having issues w 3G in general here. However the fact remains that my other two 3G phones work perfectly for me.
Hi,
I've had my Touch Pro for about a month and I've had enough of that stupid Vodafone start-up screen and everything!
So I've been reading up on this forum and downloaded Total Commander, Advanced Config and RegEdit and I haven't seen anything on here about ROM's on a Vodafone Touch Pro...........and I'm a bit scared of bricking my phone!
So has anyone got an idiots' guide to getting a decent ROM on my Touch Pro? I mainly just want to get rid of all the Vodafone branding and then maybe start playing about with it more!
Thanks
I've just got a Vodafone one too! And was wondering the same thing
I'll await answers from the masses
I have the UK Vodafone Touch Pro and have just changed the ROM to ROMeOS 1.40.1. The speed difference is substancial, and I would recommend it if you are willing to risk your warrenty.
Just make sure you follow all the posted advice regarding flashing your rom.

I've never had a signal problem, so I wouldnt think so. Its just an OS change, not the radio.
I have a vodafone rom and I thought the slowness was normal (I mean how would I know and different?) :S If there are alternatives, I too am interested.
I had the phone for about a month before I decided to look into the other ROMs, mainly because i'd got into the habit with my old v1606 (Hermes).
After looking at a few I eventually decided to try the ROMeOS one first, and so far I havent regreted it. It seems much faster, and the changes that have been made seem to improve the operation.
You still get the initial Vodafone boot screen then an alternate ROMeOS one, however even the boot seems much faster to me (I haven't actually timed it)
The only thing I will say is that if you like to modify TF3D then uninstall the 'HTC Manila Enhancements' using Remove Programs before you install any other mods or you may get a clash as I did.
I should add that I have only flashed ROMeOS in the last 24hrs so a full 'workout' has not been given to it yet.
Also make sure you read and follow the beginners guide in the ROM Development folder before you attempt the flash.
I have my Vodafone UK Touch Pro for 2 months. Yesterday i decided to change the ROM.
There is sooo much hype about bricking the phone but all the tools out there made it very easy for me, actually i only used 2 tools!
First download and install HardSPL
Then install the rom of your choice using the supplied .exe.
Simple, where abouts you based, could poss do it for you if you want?
I did manage to change my ROM - to the afour mentioned ROMeOS ROM - which is awesome. I did download Elite ROM but it was loaded with way too many programs for me!
It is a simple process, but I still get worried!!
I would like to change my Vodafone branded device to the Romeos rom if possible but want to know how I can make a dump of my current Vodafone ROM so If for any reason the device needs to be sent back I can shove that ROM back on?
Also, when changing roms, Is there a way to not lose your text messages?
Thanks
Regards,
Neil
Yeah - use a program called PIMBACKUP. I've backed all my stuff up about 3 times now with no problems.
You can save your original ROM, I never did as you can download the stock ROM's from here.
Read the Flashing For Newbies topic - it's invaluable. It ill have the links for the downloads you need
Touch Pro's Worst Rom
Just wanted to add my vote for hating this ROM. The red theme is horrible.
I thought I would wait a bit before flashing after shelling out £370 but this ROM was totally ruining my experience. Flashed within 12 hours of the phone arriving!!!
Can anybody who has successfully removed the Vodafone Rom and installed a new one shed some light on how they managed to do it. Ive flashed roms dozens of times on my Kaiser and the Hermes and had no problems at all but so far ive had no joy with the Touch Pro. No matter how i try and install hard SPL (either via the pc or using manual install) i never get past the black screen stage and 0% progress and then when the phone restarts nothings changed and i can no longer connect to Active Sync without hard resetting the phone and restarting the computer. I cannot use the Vodaphone Rom its so awful so im desperate for some advice.
MagicAlex - I flashed my TouchPro twice and had no problems either time. I basically followed the step by step guide which is stickied to the other ROM Developement forum.
Sorry I coudn't be more help, but that's how I did it, thanks to this wonderful forum
oh yeah ive flashed mine three times now. it turned out to be some mysterious issue with my pc. after two days of getting nowhere using Vista32 i plugged my TP into my girlsfriends laptop running Vista64 & it flashed first time. I have no idea what the issue is as i flashed my Vario2 & 3 dozens of times on my pc with no problems at all. very strange!
Hello, I have an Axim X51v that I bought off someone who didn't want to deal with it anymore. Anyway when you turn it on it hangs at the dell logo or sometimes at the windows start up logo, rarely it makes it into windows but it freezes up after a little while. I've tried flashing several different roms on it (so did the previous owner) but each time it's the same result. I've checked diagnostics mode (record+power+reset) and everything seems to check out (flash has a green zero) and every time I flash a rom it makes it through without any problems. Also the bootloader is a10_g3 is this version known to be unstable? Could it be flashed wrong? That's the only thing I can really think of.
You know this forum is for HTC devices?
Im not familiar with Dell PDA's but i cant imagine flashing roms willy nilly will work on a dell which are designed for HTC devices. Give me a link for the ROM which you are currently trying to use.
Have you tried flashing original rom back on, thats wm5 yes?
Yeah I know it's for htc devices (this is where I get roms for my kaiser). But I've also seen roms for the x51 here too and I assumed someone may know something about em here. Anyway I have the "stock" wm5 rom flashed right now (flashed with sdloader) and it's pretty much in the same shape.
We don't frown upon answering questions for other devices. This forum is meant to help people. If you can get your answer here.. cheers on that.. hope you will.

sorry wasnt meaning to sound sarcastic, ive had some experience of axim but mostly wm5, just wasnt too clear on ur issues, what exactly happens? you say it freezes but what do you do that makes it so?
Well that's the thing it freezes randomly, even just sitting there it will freeze. I want to say its the flash but every time I check it the test comes out clear. So the the only thing I can think of is the bootloader is messed up.
Ive just been to the dell support site and wow, alot of un happy people, i can see why your friend didnt want it anymore...
After doing some reading there i can only suggest you download their official rom and rom updates and see if you can get it running normally. What i dont understand is flashing a new rom should clear everything, i dont think it is the bootloader if the system boots up fully correctly, it has to be a rom issue (or hardware of course).
check out these sites, doesnt make good reading im afraid :

http://en.community.dell.com/forums/3530.aspx?PageIndex=2
good luck and let me know how you get on.
Well as I said it takes several tries to get into windows (sometimes it wont work at all until I leave it without the battery for an hour or so) so its not booting up normally at all . Anyway I had the wm5 a12 rom on there for a while but it still has the same problems (I used sd flash since I really cant sync and flash with the way it freezes). So yeah I'm not sure what I can do
mmm.....
If youve had several different roms on it, including official ones, it could mean a hardware problem too.......
Im no chef, but i would have expected a bootloader issue to be resolved with a known working official rom?
How old is the Dell? Just a thought, have you tried the online help with a technical rep from Dell, they were good when trying to sort out an issue with my 4 year old laptop? Sorry but im running out of ideas........
Hey I think I got it! Seems the previous owner modified the battery latch. After messing around a bit I stuck a toothpick on the "button" that is depressed when the door is closed and it seems to be running perfectly stable! I even did a few resets and each time it boots just fine. Thanks to everyone who replied and offered advice.
hoorah! saved by a tooth pick, now ive heard it all haha. congrats!
Please forgive me, as I have not searched the forum extensively for an answer, but I'm in a bit of a time crunch as I am leaving on a trip tonight and need to get back to some semblance of a working phone.
Some time ago I flashed some rom (I think Paranoid Android; I don't remember. I liked it enough to keep it, then I didn't worry about it again after that.) Little by little it started getting slower and buggier, but for the most part it worked fine, so I ignored it. For the last couple of weeks it started losing signal and data constantly, with no change to the phone. I kind of just lived with it because I could usually restart my phone and I would regain signal, but as of a couple of days ago, it would just drop off and not come back until it wants to.
I had the day off to prepare for my trip, so I decided I would try to go back to stock; there's almost nothing that I do that requires a custom ROM and I had no data issues on stock, nor does my wife on her Note. I looked around for a bit for instructions to restore my phone, and found some, but out of the handful of pages I went to, each one had at least one link that was dead, rendering the method useless, to me, a layman, at least.
I then decided I would just find a Stock Rom, thinking that might be the next best thing. I found Clean Rom on here and decided to try to flash that. I made a backup of my system, wiped everything, and then flashed it. Except something is wrong with the zip and keeps giving me an error message. I then tried to restore my back up that I had just made to try something else, but something happened to that, and it also wouldn't open. I tried the backup before then (quite old, as I haven't done any tinkering with my phone for quite some time) and it worked, but it tells me that my sim card is disconnected, so I have no data or signal. As it is an old restore, I'm not sure what the name of the ROM is, but I can provide all of the information needed, if someone needs that to figure it out.
Anyway, long story slightly shorter: I need to fix this today, and like as soon as possible. I will give ten dollars, count them TEN DOLLARS, to the first person who can provide a set of working links and very straightforward instructions as to how to get back to stock (or if there is a good working ROM that will give me FULL functionality with no flares that would be easier to do. Easy and fast are the key components to this request). I'm not dumb, but I am no longer immersed in the lingo of this community, as it has been a few phones back that I really cared about actually experimenting much with my phone, so non-technical language would be nice. I know what flashing and wiping means. Most of the rest, probably assume I don't.
Thanks.
Your best (easiest) option is probably to flash another stock ROM, or stock-ish ROM. There are quite a few options in the Android Development section. There are a couple of stock rooted at&t ROMs in the first couple pages, also a stock rooted Telstra ROM.
You didn't mention which carrier you're with, whether your phone is branded, or any of your important details, like your firmware/hboot details and whether you're s-on or not. If you wanted to go back to completely stock, I'd need to know those details. Going completely stock can/will be a longer process though.

Okay, I'll try another one. I'm not sure why Clean Rom didn't work, but if another one or two don't work I'll come back here and I'll have you talk me through getting back to stock and I'll throw you a digital Hamilton.
Thanks.
Well, I tried another couple of ROMs. They installed correctly, but it says that I have no sim card, so I still have no signal. Maybe I some how deleted my radio when I did a system wipe while trying to install one of the ROMs? I'm not sure.
Anyway, for "more details" I'm on AT&T, I'm not sure what you mean by branded, but it's the HTC One X, the current ROM is 4.1.1. I haven't done S-On/S-Off, or anything like that other than unlocking the bootloader a long time ago. The kernel version says 304010-g240d4d5, the baseban version is 0.17.32.09.12_10.86.32.08L The Build number is 3.17.707.1 CL134054 release-keys.
I'm not sure which of that information is relevant or not, but that's everything I can tell you.
Never mind that last post. When I said in the first post that I'm not dumb, apparently I lied. My phone fell off a table this morning, and I guess it knocked the sim card loose, but it coincided with doing the factory reset stuff, so I thought they were connected. I pushed it back in, restarted, and now the stock ROM I'm using works great.
Thanks/Sorry!
Well, it turned out to be an easy solution (Occam's Razor FTW yet again).
But this thread made me think . . . why the heck does it seem so many people lately flash ROMs without doing a nandroid first? Its a no brainer to me. If you are trying new ROMs, and not sure how they will perform, why would you not give yourself an easy way to simply revert to your last known good config?
I couldn't agree more, but there's plenty of not-so-smart practices on here, so I'm not at all surprised.

Yea. Nandroid ftw

So I had a P9000 that got the screen smashed.
I liked the phone, it was stuck on the 6.0 with the OTA issue, but everything worked fine for me... so I went ahead and bought a new P9000 (which should be faster than getting the part and repair the older one... which I planned to do anyway and keep it as a spare in case of another accident).
It arrived with a 6.0 installed as well, and everything seemed to work fine.
While setting up the phone, installing stuff etc... it got automatically updated to 7.0
THE ISSUES:
I can barely hear anything when people call me. I've read is a pretty common issue.
I've tried every possible solution I could find online... nothing works.
The only option is to put the call on speaker... which is not so handy for EVERY call EVERYWHERE.
-
I just went on a trip and realized data roaming is not working either.
I get phone signal, data and roaming options are both active (I tried both cards), checked the APN with the providers... all options again. No way to get it to work.
As soon as I landed back it worked without issues.
With the other phone/ROM I never had issues.
SOLUTION?
I've read some time ago that rooting 7.0 on P9000 is kind of risky or doesn't work altogether.
Is this still true?
Do you recommend any specific instructions to do it? (I've rooted and installed ROM's in other phones, so not newbie but no expert either).
Which ROM would you recommend as of today?
I keep the phone pretty app-light, I use for work only... so these issues are really bad for me. And the Elephone customer care has been a total deal breaker.
I won't be buying from them anymore that's for sure, but I'd like to don't burn cash either and get some use out of the phone.
Thanks in advance
