Change "FROM" field in Pocket Outlook for Exchange account? - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I am using Pocket Outlook, which I have synchronising with my Exchange server, on Windows Mobile 6.1 Prof (Touch HD).
I need to be able to send email from two different email addresses (i.e. change the "FROM" field). I can't see a way to do this in Pocket Outlook. Would be grateful if someone could tell me how; I can't imagine such a straightforward feature has been omitted? I can do this fine within normal Outlook, connected to the same Exchange account.
Ideally, it would automatically select the correct address when I am replying to a message so that it matches the address to which the originally message was sent. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Richard.

Hi RIchard,
You can indees send from any account you wish. On you message tab on touchflo, select the account you want to send from, then just press the new message tab next to the envelope. Or go into inbox from any account, selct the account you want to send from, then menu and new message
btw, the touch hd is so tasty!! yh?

I dont get what your problem is? I have my main email via Exchange and 2 addtional pop 3 mail accounts. On the home message tab it shows 3 envelopes on the right hand side of the screen, one for each account. If i want to send an email from a pop3 account, i just press the envelope and it will send an email from that account?!?
You cannot sync email via active sync if you have an exchange mail set up, but that is your only limitation, as far as i know....

Hi,
I think that the problem is as follows (well at least I have this problem )
I use google sync to give me push mail and forward my company email to google (to get it pushed).
If I reply to this email on my PPC (from the outlook mail account) then the recipient will see the reply coming from the google address rather than my company address.
So, I need to reply to the mail on PPC using my Outlook account to get the original subject and the original mail and then change the "from" field on the email to send from my company account (also setup on the phone).
Even a registry hack would do; to always send from the company account when in the Outlook exchange account.
I've done a lot of searching and found no solution to this.
In need of help !

outlook is POINTLESS!!

seriously the only reason i use it is because i can sync my contacts and appointments.. itd be nice if i could recieve emails on my phone but you have to have an exchange server to do that... So honestly whats the point of it because not too many people i know have one and its just makes sense that if i wanted to send and email on the go i could but no if i type it, it will be sent when i sync the phone with the computer... Is there anyway to get mail without a exchange server? I know if i add an email i could get mail that way but itd be nice to sync everything in outlook...
I don't use an exchange server and I can send and get emails fine.
how is that possible my send/recieve button is shadded out... the email i have set up with it is my comcast.net which is a pop3... what is yours?

You can set up your comcast.net account on your phone just fine, just add a new pop account to your phone and go from there.
i know but i cant have both my outlook and add the same email to send and recieve can i? im just saying i should be able to do it without having two of the same accounts you know?
Dont worry about Outlook.....just use your comcast account...I don't understand what you are saying....I have the same setup as you. What I don't understand is why anyone would sync with Outlook.....maybe once....the first time to get your Outlook contacts on the phone...but after that - why bother? I get my mail wirelessly....and now all my contacts are on my phone...no need to sync anymore.
I just autoforward all my work email to my gmail account (2GB). Then I set my phone to check that email. The only workaround that I have found since my company is too [email protected]$# cheap to get me a balckberry even though I am part of IT....
Anyway.... hope that helps.

I'm using outlook, to sync tasks, contacts, calendar events, notes, to have a backup for any unforeseen events.
For mailing I use a gmail account whith IMAP access (way better/secure than POP), and for sending mails google's SMTP.

Send mails from "Outlook E-mail" account

Hello,
Is it possible to send mails from the "Outlook E-mail" account which is synchronized with my Outlook from Windows mobile phone ? When I want to answer to a mail, it is saved in outbox and then after next sync my Outlook sends it. so i always have to use my own configured mail account there. and answering on a mail from "Outlook E-mail" is not possible...
Hi,
for doing this, you need to configure your mobile device to fetch e-mail directly from your isp's mailaccount via pop3 or imap. that's something completely different from active sync.
be aware, if you configure pop3 you need to leave a copy of the mail on the mailserver for pop3 downloads messages. in that case you'll get your mails only on one device (mobile OR pc/notebook). the solution would be imap.
so you need to configure your mobile device just like your outlook account on you pc/notebook (server, username, password).
Plus, you'll need to have a look on your data transfer. if you access you mailaccount directly, the mails charge your dataplan. so take care of size limitations while configuring your mobile device (only headers prob, and limit size of attachments unless you do not want to download huge mails).
Hope this helps,
tsfnet
No other way?
I have my outlook account, synchronised with all mail downloaded at the office and an imap account to retrieve emails on the go. As the imap account is cleared after office download, there is no archive inside. Both accounts are linked to the same email address.
I would like to be able to work on my mails (outlook account) and then send replies thanks to the imap account.
In office 2007 there is an option to enable you to select the account to be used for repling or sending emails. No such option in WM6?
Thanks
Michel
Ps. On top anyway to retrieve several emails accounts in one go?
I think you are looking to sync your company email. You will need your IT dept to set up Exchange for you to do this:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...ketpcphone/email/company/exchangeoverair.mspx
Thanks.
Sadly I'm not using a Microsoft Exchange Server.
Outlook is directly retrieving emails from my imap server (sync with my Kaiser). When I'm roaming, I retrieve mails on the imap server directly.
I'm not able to reply to mails previously sync (outlook account) when I'm not at the office - This is an issue as I'm consultant and I stay days without coming back to my home base.
Thanks for your help
Michel
Message up.
Sorry & Thanks
hey man i hated that too i thought that m$ didnt make this a thing you can do out the box.. just download emoze or another similar app that will push everything to your phone and from your phone to your comp.. if i were you when you do this dont have it push your contacts because when you plug in to active sync it doubles
Thanks - I will give it a try.
But it is weird it is not possible to select the account to be used when sending/replying to emails.
I tried to copy/past my answer from my outlook (sync) account to my roaming one and this is not even working.
Any other idea?
Thx
M
No solutions?
Maybe using another email client?
thx
M.
pocket outlook is gimped without exchange... also, exchange 2003 has push enabled if it's up on service pack but lacks html email and some other instant sync capabilities that 2007 has...
if i didn't setup my own server i would def say paying for hosted exchange is worth it... ive messed with all those other sync/push clones but nothing comes anywhere near to the functionality/ease-of-use of having direct sync with exchange.
I will check for an hosted exchange server.
As a temp solution I will try FlexMail 2007: It is possible to reply to sync mail with another account.

Would this fix your problem? Set Outlook on your PC to "Leave a copy of messages on the server", and have your Kaiser retrieve all your messages from the IMAP server directly, whether you're in the office or not. If the Kaiser is connected via ActiveSync, it will use your PC's internet connection anyway, so no extra network charges.
That way all your emails are in one account on the Kaiser, and you could even turn off Outlook mail syncing in ActiveSync and reply directly to emails from the IMAP account on the Kaiser.
If you can't find "Leave a copy of messages on the server" in Windows Outlook, on my version (Outlook 2003) it's under Tools/Email Accounts/View or Change/Change/More Settings/Advanced (well hidden).
Can't confirm this option is there for IMAP - I use POP3 myself.

I haven't done too much looking at exchange hosting solutions but I think $10/month is the minimum you'll find... mail2web appears to have good hosting solutions.. you can try out their free service but it requries you to use their email address unless you upgrade to the $10/month plan.
Hi I just downloaded windows live onto my verizon xv6800, but when i go into setup new email account in outlook and enter my email address and select automatically get settings, it then says found settings for msn.com, but then it just transfers me to windows live. I cannot get outlook to send and recevie messages. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreicated.

WM and forced Outlook E-Mail?

Hey all,
I'm pretty satisfied with my Touch Pro and there is a small point Maybe someone here knows the answer...
I use activesync on the phone and Windows Mobile Device Center on my desktop, to sync everything except e-mail because I have a full email bundle with my telco so I poll mail on my phone as well as on my desktop, leaving email on the server. That way I'm always aware of email I receive.
Now, when I put an appointment in my calendar on my phone and I invite someone to that appointment, it wants to send that person an email. The problem is that it tries to do that via the Outlook E-Mail account which I don't have and the messages just stay in the Outlook E-Mail outbox forever.
I can't find any setting on my phone, to change the default account used to send these emails.
Does anyone here know how to get this working the way I want?
Grtz,
Patrick
Go to calendar -> tools -> options
Go to the appointments tab and select your desired account under 'Send meeting requests via'
Thanks, it turns out to be a very simply solution

[Q] Calendar invites?

Can you chose the default email account to send calendar invites and if I accept an invite? In 6.5 I could go to calendar options and select the drfault account.

not working for me
someone who has an idea how to get multiple calendars from a exchange account ?
bumper the bump
As it is now when I accept they all go through Hotmail instead of the account they came from. I can accept them and not send an email stating I accepted but for business I really need to send one.

[Q] why are emails deleted

if i go into emails it downloads them no problem, next time i go into emails it deletes the ones already there, yet i don't receive these emails on my PC either .Why is it deleting them and is there any way to stop it
Are you using the GMail client or the other one ("Email")?
If the latter, are you using POP/IMAP, or Exchange? If it's not Exchange, I'd suggest you embrace your GMail account - you can configure it to collect email from other accounts - and use the GMail app. This has the extra advantages that you have a central contacts list, and can view your emails on any computer with a browser too.
use the other email and its a pop account ,so are you saying use g mail and set up my pop account on there, already have my g mail account set up on the email appr
There is most likely a setting to remove the mail off the server when you pull it into the app, thus deleting it off your regular mail server, and why you aren't seeing it on your pc. I'd poke around the settings a bunch and see what is up.

I set up a few POP accounts in the appropriate client, but I think the only 'delete/remove from server' option was only when emails were deleted locally. I'm not sure about the default behavior - whether it is 'download and remove from server' or just 'download a copy and leave on server'.
checking in the client settings, it's under Incoming Settings, and the options are only
"Delete email from server -"
and the two options are 'When I delete from Inbox' or 'never'.
That tells me the client should NOT be removing/deleting emails from the server except possibly when you delete a mail from the inbox. IIRC, the default setting was 'never'.
Combat, do you perhaps have a client running on a computer somewhere that may be periodically checking and removing the mail from the server? This is a common thing with email servers - someone leaves an email program running on a computer which is set to download and remove mail from the server... then the mail doesn't show up on their phone.
Incoming setting were set as never delete mail from server so unchecked it and rechecked it again ill see what happens

There's probably a setting in the Email app for leaving mail on the server, but personally I get my GMail account to pick up mail for all my POP accounts.
You can configure GMail (through the web interface) so that you can send emails out as if from your other accounts too.
For example, if someone emails me at [email protected] then it gets picked up by my Gmail account. If I then hit reply, GMail will use [email protected] as the 'from' address. If I reply to an email sent to my gmail.com address, the reply will come from my gmail.com address.
So you don't have to mess around with 2 different apps, you have all your email in one place, accessible from anywhere, with a single contacts list. Win/Win.
