Press Call + Menu + Power to restart. There's nothing wrong with your phone so don't worry. Double check that DREAIMG.nbh is not in any folders on your SD card, then try it again. The "serial0" is normal, we all see it when we enter the bootloader by holding down camera + power.
try to reboot into recovery(press call+menu+end and immediately press and hold home) then from there you can enter the terminal and make sure that DREAIMG.nbh is listed when you typre "ls /sdcard" if not then you can PM me and i can walk you through what to do
Rooted once more!
I figured it out. For some reason it wasn't reading the DREAIMG file, it was corrupted or the SD Card was lose or something. I used a different SD Card and dropped the DREAIMG file there and started the process over and it worked. Thanks for the help guys ^ ^ I appreciate it much.

While in the Bootloader the PC doesn't detect the phone
i can't seem to get it to switch to USB, it keep on serial
i am going to do some more testing with img on SD when i get home
Where are the debugging drivers for software dev, i didn't see them in the SDK
Good progress, we need usb support
That's the bootloader there, funny, looks the same as the other htc devices. Would this mean that firmware uploading G1 -> windows and other htc devices-> android would be easy?
The hang up button is the reset button. Just hold it for a few seconds and it will give you the option to shut down.
Very strange, once in boot loader, hitting the back button refreshes the screen. Normally it says serial0 but i plugged in the USB hit back and now there isn't a serial0. Must be in USB mode, but nothing popped up on my screen.
I love just how fast you guys get to work on hacking into all the phones you get your hands on.
ooooooo..... wonder if we can put other radios on it to get better battery life (like with the tilt)
Update
Update: DREAIMG.nbh on a sd card has no response
pressing the camera or back buttons seems to refresh the screen
but if a usb is plugged in the serial 0 goes away (no usb device detected)
if you press home and back while turning on the unit you get the hard reset screen (i haven't tried it yet)
btw i experience a error during one of the boot cycle that gave me a exclamation mark next to the phone, but after a reset it went away.
Try installing the usb drivers. Maybe that might make a difference.

I can get to this on the G1. Here's the menu I see:
Code:
Android system recovery utility
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Home+Back - reboot system now
Alt+L - toggle log text display
Alt+S - apply sdcard:update.zip
Alt+W - wipe/data/factory reset
It seems encouraging that it's checking for a file named "command". Anyone know if /cache is on the SD or the internal ROM?

My phone is stuck at the '!' mark screen:
I had removed the Updater.apk and Updater.odex from /system/app like JesusFreke had suggested in this thread in hope of preventing the RC30 update. The only other changes I had made were to install busybox in /system/bin and I made a copy of sh named shroot.
A little after 2am Sunday Nov 9th Google pushed me the update (I'm assuming). It didn't give me the option to accept or delay it, or if I did I didn't notice because I wasn't using the phone at the time, it was just sitting on my desk. I looked down at the phone because the screen had lit up and saw the unboxing/unpacking icon. Then shortly thereafter the '!' triangle screen appeared.. well sh*t, that can't be good.
I tried pressing back and home to reboot, it reboots but keeps going back into the '!' triangle screen. Tried taking the battery out and turning it back on holding home and power to boot into recovery mode, but it still goes to the '!' triangle mark screen.
When in the '!' triangle mark screen it shows up as a usb device (using lsusb in linux) but not as a device in adb so I'm unable to open a shell to try to fix it that way. It will boot into SPL mode if I hold power and back while turning on. In SPL mode the phone isn't even showing as a USB device attached to the system.
Also, my phone had previously received RC29 as an OTA update.
Any suggestions besides returning it to T-Mo for replacement?
Try flashing it with the RC30 update from the sdcard.

I'm unable to because the phone wont allow me into recovery mode.
When I hold home + power it still boots up to the '!' mark screen.
You aren't allowed to press alt+L in the screen? or alt+S or even alt+W?

You saved my arse neoobs. Thank you very very much.
Didn't realize you could do that from the '!' mark screen. I was expecting the text to be there. Boy do I feel dumb.
I was able to recover to RC29 from the sdcard. Now I will try updating to JesusFreke's modified RC30 and see if I cant break it again. I guess google is right, some people shouldn't have root. lol
Again, neoobs, thank you.

Keep in mind, upon first reboot, it will take a min to stop displaying the ! screen. Be patient
Well, the jacHero ROM has been working pretty well for a few days since I've upgraded it.
FASTBOOT screen:

----------------------------------
Then earlier today, I tried to "hard reset" it by pressing "home+back"+"power". The expected menu didn't show up but the screen kept showing me with HTC and HERO logos alternatively...non-stop. Seems the ROM is not good for hard reset.
I could not turn on the Magic like normal. The same HTC/HERO logo screens showing in turns.
So I tried to boot into the FASTBOOT mode to re-flash the same HERO ROM again in the hope that i could let me boot into HERO again...
Here's what I did.
1) pressed "back"+"power" and booted to FASTBOOT screen
2) connected Magic to computer with a USB cable (drivers installed previously)
3) Magic shows "FASTBOOT USB" and I could hear a sound from the computer showing that it actually detects the device/connection
4) The problem now is that I can't see the drive for the MicroSD card! so I can't do any further flash ....
in Device Manager, I could see the "ADB Interface"->"HTC Bootloader" when the Magic is connected. Just the drive letter doesn't show in Windows Explorer...
I even changed to another MicroSD card, but it's the same..
In the FASTBOOT mode in Magic,
n FASTBOOT mode.. There's an option:
<VOL DOWN> HBoot Mode
---
I tried to press the Volume Down key, it shows:
SD Checking..
Loading... [SAPPDIAG.zip]
No Image!
Loading... [SAPPDIA2.zip]
No Image or wrong image!
Loading...[SAPPDIAG.nbh]
.....
I'm not sure what all these mean or if they're related to my problem...
Can anyone help? it's a 4-day brand new phone.
Thank you very much for your time!
Boot into recovery and re-apply the update.zip. If you dont have the update.zip on your sdcard, in recovery mode do an adb devices with the phone connected to your computer. When its recognized you can push the JacHero update.zip to the sdcard.
This happens to me when I hard reset as well, it's kind of annoying to have to do that each time. Theres no way to get around having to do this before the hard reset?
Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or i will be forced to ban you for 3 days or till you learn.
Thanks
Thread Trashed!!
Good evening everyone,
I have been searching numerous threads for months on this problem, so I am hoping someone can finally help me, as I do not see any resolution yet to my problem. I have a MyTouch 4G that is booting into 'FastBoot' everytime you turn it on. I pretty sure the problem is when I went to unroot my wife's phone to send it in for warranty report, I forgot to undo the ./gfree method I used to root her phone.
The phone is acting kind of strange, so I am going to describe the problems and weirdness I am seeing:
* I can press [Volume Down]+[Power] to get into hboot. No keys work though for selection.
- If I have a sdcard with my pdimg file on it, it does get detected and I can use the volume rocker keys to select yes or not.
* I can not hold any keys and power it on, but boots into FastBoot. No keys work though.
* I can plug a USB cable into the phone, Windows sees the phone as Android 1.0 device. The screen on the phone will change depending on what mode I am in: [FastBoot USB] or [HBOOT USB PLUG]. No keys work still.
* ADB does not see the phone when USB is plugged in.
* I placed the pdimg.zip file on the sdcard, selected yes to update, took about 5 to 10 minutes, and pressed power to reboot, nothing changed. It only said skipped on one item, rest was OK.
* I pressed [Volume Up]+[Power], phone vibrates three times, status light blinks off and on with a blank screen.
Info about my current setup that I see on the eng screen:

Have exactly the same problem with my HTC Wildfire ...
Was even able to flash a shipped rom through my PC, but still the phone gets stuck on fastboot with no working keys or hboot (Vol Down + Power) with no working keys either ...
Haven't found any threads to follow in order to get the phone back working again
OK I left my phone and when I went back and got it the touch screen wasn't working. I think the idiot there tried to put the operating system on his desktop because he was asking me if I had a disc with one on it. .......
When I restart while pushing vol down, the screen shows:

I tried using a RUU my pc recognizes the evo , checks the version which is 3. 17. 651. 4 asks if I want to update to 4. 13. 651. 4 goes to screen that says rebooting to bootloader right after that the usb connection is lost and the screen says waiting on bootloader..... the phone screen is black with silver HTC logo in middle, the computer pops up with message that the last USB device you connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize. The RUU shows error 171 no USB connection and exit button. The USB connection is gone, the black screen HTC logo stays until I restart the phone then I have lock screen no touch screen workings and usb connection working and message at top of screen usb file sharing . I did download minimal fastboot adb and when I tried to use it, I could get the phone to show fastboot usb, but it didnt have the usb connection active. Obviously I am noob please advise.
