OK I left my phone and when I went back and got it the touch screen wasn't working. I think the idiot there tried to put the operating system on his desktop because he was asking me if I had a disc with one on it. .......
When I restart while pushing vol down, the screen shows:

I tried using a RUU my pc recognizes the evo , checks the version which is 3. 17. 651. 4 asks if I want to update to 4. 13. 651. 4 goes to screen that says rebooting to bootloader right after that the usb connection is lost and the screen says waiting on bootloader..... the phone screen is black with silver HTC logo in middle, the computer pops up with message that the last USB device you connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize. The RUU shows error 171 no USB connection and exit button. The USB connection is gone, the black screen HTC logo stays until I restart the phone then I have lock screen no touch screen workings and usb connection working and message at top of screen usb file sharing . I did download minimal fastboot adb and when I tried to use it, I could get the phone to show fastboot usb, but it didnt have the usb connection active. Obviously I am noob please advise.

Well, the jacHero ROM has been working pretty well for a few days since I've upgraded it.
FASTBOOT screen:

----------------------------------
Then earlier today, I tried to "hard reset" it by pressing "home+back"+"power". The expected menu didn't show up but the screen kept showing me with HTC and HERO logos alternatively...non-stop. Seems the ROM is not good for hard reset.
I could not turn on the Magic like normal. The same HTC/HERO logo screens showing in turns.
So I tried to boot into the FASTBOOT mode to re-flash the same HERO ROM again in the hope that i could let me boot into HERO again...
Here's what I did.
1) pressed "back"+"power" and booted to FASTBOOT screen
2) connected Magic to computer with a USB cable (drivers installed previously)
3) Magic shows "FASTBOOT USB" and I could hear a sound from the computer showing that it actually detects the device/connection
4) The problem now is that I can't see the drive for the MicroSD card! so I can't do any further flash ....
in Device Manager, I could see the "ADB Interface"->"HTC Bootloader" when the Magic is connected. Just the drive letter doesn't show in Windows Explorer...
I even changed to another MicroSD card, but it's the same..
In the FASTBOOT mode in Magic,
n FASTBOOT mode.. There's an option:
<VOL DOWN> HBoot Mode
---
I tried to press the Volume Down key, it shows:
SD Checking..
Loading... [SAPPDIAG.zip]
No Image!
Loading... [SAPPDIA2.zip]
No Image or wrong image!
Loading...[SAPPDIAG.nbh]
.....
I'm not sure what all these mean or if they're related to my problem...
Can anyone help? it's a 4-day brand new phone.
Thank you very much for your time!
Boot into recovery and re-apply the update.zip. If you dont have the update.zip on your sdcard, in recovery mode do an adb devices with the phone connected to your computer. When its recognized you can push the JacHero update.zip to the sdcard.
This happens to me when I hard reset as well, it's kind of annoying to have to do that each time. Theres no way to get around having to do this before the hard reset?
Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or i will be forced to ban you for 3 days or till you learn.
Thanks
Thread Trashed!!
Good evening everyone,
I have been searching numerous threads for months on this problem, so I am hoping someone can finally help me, as I do not see any resolution yet to my problem. I have a MyTouch 4G that is booting into 'FastBoot' everytime you turn it on. I pretty sure the problem is when I went to unroot my wife's phone to send it in for warranty report, I forgot to undo the ./gfree method I used to root her phone.
The phone is acting kind of strange, so I am going to describe the problems and weirdness I am seeing:
* I can press [Volume Down]+[Power] to get into hboot. No keys work though for selection.
- If I have a sdcard with my pdimg file on it, it does get detected and I can use the volume rocker keys to select yes or not.
* I can not hold any keys and power it on, but boots into FastBoot. No keys work though.
* I can plug a USB cable into the phone, Windows sees the phone as Android 1.0 device. The screen on the phone will change depending on what mode I am in: [FastBoot USB] or [HBOOT USB PLUG]. No keys work still.
* ADB does not see the phone when USB is plugged in.
* I placed the pdimg.zip file on the sdcard, selected yes to update, took about 5 to 10 minutes, and pressed power to reboot, nothing changed. It only said skipped on one item, rest was OK.
* I pressed [Volume Up]+[Power], phone vibrates three times, status light blinks off and on with a blank screen.

From the forst menu if i select recovery i get the htc white screen and after a while (10-15 sec) he get turn of, then is vibrating 7 times....and remain closed(stuck i belive). I have to remove battery to can turn on again.
If i select factory reset he get stuck in that menu(i have to remove battery)

I hope is not the same problem with the internal memory or at leaast to verivy this...if some one can provide me steps to do this....
Thanks in advance,
P.S. sorry for my poor english...
You need to get adb working and then use revolutionary to s off and root and install clockworkmod and then use that to install a custom rom.
Instructions for all these steps are in the forums, just search ...

Hi sadsac,
interesting advice. I'm in a similar situation (link), and would really appreciate a hint on the details of your solution.
How exactly do I get adb working with respect to our S-On and locked situation?
Thanks for any help
Rgds
Patrick
Adb works when stock and s on. You need working adb for revolutionary to work. U know it's working when u type adb devices in the command prompt window and it lists your device serial number.
Use the adb set up guide threads to set up adb. Search xda or Google.

PLEASE HELP! I had a problem recently when trying to run an update on a cell phone/scanner Model ES400 (SYM 400E SXT). While running the update the phone threw an error message, which I cannot recall what the message stated, the phone became stuck in the error mode. I removed the battery to reengage the phone boot but it keeps getting locked up in boot image mode. I have tried re-installing the basic software from the MicroSD, power button + camera button, but it still locks up. The boot message is as follows:
OS Boot !
Enter Image Mode !
CPLD v13.1
IAC Ver. 120007-S1-2028M
When this device is connected to the computer, Windows Device Center does not deploy because the device image doesn't load.
Any suggestions?

I just can avoid a lengthy post because i need to explain my situation clearly
I was using a wifi with the phone as well as playing movie when i discovered that the battery was weak. I Stopped the movie but not the wifi, then plugged the phone to a charger and went to sleep. I woke up next day trying to put on the phone but NO. I immediately sensed it might be a drained battery. Plugged it in, now with the red LED flashing and then the phone was on automatically but off again when it gets to the HTC logo. It repeats this process again as long as the charger is still connected. I plugged it to PC same result. Then I left it that way hoping that it will soon charge up.
However, with the boot loop I can still get to the bootloader/fastboot menu pressing the VOLUME down button. I managed to run the latest RUU.exe (AT&T ONE X 4.2.2, hboot 5.18) that i was using before this trash happen BUT the phone will no longer connect to pc as MTP device. It does connect as fastboot USB when in that mode and I tried using that mode to run the RUU.exe but it fails again (USB error message) when it gets to 'WAITING FOR BOOTLOADER' since the phone will start to boot loop at that instant. THE BOOT LOOP A HEADACHE!!
No matter what I tried, its same boot loop (stops at the HTC Logo and reboot). I even tried to unlock bootloader to enable flash it with a custom rom BUT after selecting YES to unlock from the fastbook screen, it reboots to htc logo and starts loop. When I checked my status, it still shows LOCKED.
That's my problem. pls I need HELP! Somebody help me, I loosing my work & best friend.
