Latest firmware version download from ? - G1 Android Development

Sorry may be this post is off topic:
Can some one tell me where to download latest firmware for G1 (i think 1.1) ? mine is RC28
Thank you,

the fact that this isn't your first post is quite unbelievable.
there's a search button for a reason.
or perhaps even just look through the stickies at the top of the Android Development forum.
Or are you after the official firmware? in which case, your phone should auto-update if i'm not mistaken.

You can find the official firmware on XDA or other websites such as AndroidEvolve.com, just make sure you update them in order. But as Meltus said you should auto update which I believe is usually 3 days after activating the phone. Also use the search feature next time to search before posting!

Thank you afoulke,
and Meltus I am using that phone Pakistan so no autoupdate

Yeah everything should be available via androidevolve.com

autoupdate works everywhere... even over wifi

afoulke: The site is very helpful only one mistake i took many time i was giving space in "mount -o rw, remount", although the tutorial said "mount -o rw,remount"
Thank you for you help
PS: neoobs: even after one week of use, no update

i have adp1 in India i had rooted my phone to rc33 soon i came to know that adp1.1 was being pushed over the air so i went back to adp1.0 and after a little while say 2 hours i got a pop-up saying update is available so i say updates are available over the air throughout the world... but maybe only for adp & not rc versions...

android update on rogers!

i have to get to work or i would write it again see here
If you dump it ill check it out. HTC released an update recently with some bug fixes which they may finally be releasing ota. Also logcat the download so we can find its source.
Apparently it is just a market update, I still haven't got it to reappear yet. I took down the post so as not to lead people astray.
so newer than: 1.86.631.1 ?
I can't seem to find the link to the update. Can someone point me to it?
i can't find the update either, i skipped it for the time being and now can't get it to pop up again. i didn't click the notification, just ignored it and restarted to backup .. thinking it might be a firmware thing, it was early and only coffee number one.
**edit: if you mean the link in my original post, that was a post on my blog but after realizing it might not be an android update i removed it.

Hi, if you want to go down the rooting path to install non-official custom ROMs
the best place for you to start would be here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567610
later on, if you feel you want one of the 'bigger' ROMs be sure to read and understand this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625886
how can i get a legit update without rooting my device?
I remember when I first got my G1 on T-mobile here in the UK which was still on 1.0 I did something to force the phone to check for an OTA update because I didn't want to wait around ages for it to find Donut.
I can't remember what I pressed though nor have I had any success with google. There is a way to force an OTA update check on old versions though, I'm sure someone here will remember it...
cheers, this is what im looking for.
on my about phone it has no system update. but if someone knows this, this would be great help
Is this at all helpful?
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=OTA_Updates
You should be able to use these without root.

yeah I remember I had no system update section either when I was trying to force an update, the option appears after 1.5 I believe.
I've been trying to find what ever I did to force an update check but it's been a while now and anything I can find on google refers to more recent updates.
What network is the phone on by the way? I'm not even sure any one other than T-mobile pushes out updates for the g1
I found this over on phandroid.com
You can ask your G1 phone to do a force “Check for Update”
You need AnyCut app from the market.
Create a shorcut on the desktop using AnyCut
- Select Activity
- Select Device Info
On the desktop select the new shortcut and scroll to the bottom. There is a button that will check for an update
Hope it helps

I knew someone would know here, this is what I did on my 1.0 G1 to force an OTA update
it said checkin success, what happens now should it jsut start downloading??
sorry to be a pain
You can use this file if you don't want to wait:
android.clients.google.com/updates/kila_eu/signed-kila_eu-ota-15632.a5e2aac2.zip
This is the euro full update to 1.6.
Copy to your sdcard, rename to update.zip and flash in recovery.
that link isnt working, nothing seems to working to update my phone.
link worked fine for me, don't try to download it on your phone (if you are), use a computer
Is this a new G1 bought directly from t-mobile, or did you buy it from someone?
i bought if from someone, starting to think this was a bad idea tho
Are you sure it hasn't been customised already?
Start the phone with [camera]+[power] then [home]+[power] and post what you see.
Also.. do you have a data plan?
i get unlimited internet on my device.
on and pwer:
drea110 32b
hboot-0.95.0000
cpld-4
radio-1.22.12.29
when i press power, home it says
e:// cant open/cache.....
maybe thats y the sd updates arent working
omg thank you so much everyone, it finally managed to upgrade via that link you gave thank you so much love you.
ohhh try searching google for "any cut force update" or something like that. I used anycut to check for updates. It's how I updated to cupcake before I rooted =)

Hi folks. I need to change my sig. My Korean SGS was destroyed and ended up with a korean Motoroi xt720 for cheap. I am in Korea. I can read a few computer terms and for anything else have easy access to people who can read more.
Anyway, I made it through the upgrade process. However, it didn't give me a rom file, rather it actually flashed the phone from the web page. There's a chance I can find the rom file somewhere on my hard drive.
I had to do it twice. The first time it seemed like it was installing some upgrade manager tool (but I was clicking ok pretty fast). There was a yes or no question that I didn't bother to try to translate any further even if I could. Yes allowed the continue button to pup up.. but then the computer rebooted. I did it again though and the second time after hitting the big orange button.. it rebooted the phone and flashed it.
Let me know if I can help with something, and let me know if you know of any big things to watch out for if I'm taking advice from the U.S/EU threads. Obviously, not using those ROMS is the main one.
By the way, rooting by adb with rageagainst the cage worked fine for me as expected.
update: so I checked the ahrd drive. The file isn't there. With a somewhat similar samsung process I sometimes had to kill the program just before it flashed, then I could find the file. Unfortunately, it won't do it again, because it detects that I'm already upgraded. Of course I can just tar up my /system directory.

Can you post your kernel version and configuration strings (S/W version etc)?
model XT720 (but korean one of course)
S/W version STSKT_N_79.33.50R
android version 2.2.1
kernel version 2.6.29-omap1
Did I miss anything?
I am capable of extracting and probably unpacking a kernel image, assuming it doesn't go too differently than for the Samsung. I would want hints on what block device to get it from though.
Another possibility is flashing back to an older rom, and trying to upgrade again, but I'd need to find an older rom. I wrote down my original ROM version somewhere, so I can try to search for it.
I'd actually like to have this too, because it's nice if I mess something up or need A/S, to have a clean ROM to fall back to.

I think that's the same as what we have. You can download the sbf here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881801 Thanks!
Ok thanks!
One thing you could try change your build prop to the motorio but this could be dangerous.

[Q] Model does not support S/W upgrade?

I tried to update through the LG updater software, and while it initially said that my phone could receive the update (which it didn't say when we first discovered the update a few days ago - I'm on a refurb) but after I ran the updater for a minute or so, it said "model does not support s/w upgrade." Any idea why I'm getting this problem? Or any solutions? I apologize if this has already been asked, I may not have combed through everything that's being posted. Thanks.
yea lol probably cuz u have a refurb! u answered your on question do it with the kdz file and updater should work search around here u will find it
Last week when the updater first got the update, it said my phone was up-to-date - now it says there is an update available, but when I actually run it, it says model does not support.
yea its something with refurbs i noticed

This is what you need to make it work. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine. I just did it on mine the other day and it worked like a charm. I am also with LGP999DWP phone. Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183168

[Q] Reviving an old phone

Back in February of 2014 I rooted my phone and I went through and started deleting some of the software that came preinstalled. No one likes the preinstalled bloatware anyways, but in the process I deleted some core files that were important to basic operation.
I figured no big deal I'll just get clockwork and find the ROM online and no big deal. Well... That didn't go so well because I had already accepted the secure boot over the air update.
Phone currently turns on and I'm able to get into the boot loader and a normal boot tells me to take it into Verizon (only for them to say there's nothing we can do).
I came here for answers and never bothered to make a post. All I found were people saying I'm screwed and two tutorials, one for a true bricked phone and the other that's image did not work for me in ODIN.
Now with a new job right around the corner and them requiring me to have a phone, I'm in a pickle. I'm coming back and while I can find some answers now most of the links have been removed.
Where can I find a copy of the stock rom so I can once again use my phone and which ODIN version should I be using (and where to get)? - if I can even remember how to use one since it's been so long.
I did find samsung-updates[dot]com/device/?id=SCH-I535 in a youtube video description from another post on XDA but 12 hours for a download doesn't seem practical especially if the file doesn't even work.
Also there was an ODIN post on XDA that had links for a download that Chrome will NOT let me download. When I say "will not", I actually mean I can only dismiss the notice that chrome says this file is malicious. There is no proceed anyways option and it comes with a "do not enter" icon. Other compressed versions of ODIN download fine but no clue what version I'm after.

Use a different browser to download your files, sometimes chrome won't download things properly.
Use this guide to fix your situation:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586319
You can use that file of you're on 4.3, but if you were on 4.4 you need a stock 4.4.2 image. Everything you need is in the sticky in the development section. All downloads are available and guides for figuring out which version you're on.
Thank you!

Much appreciated,
... I'm really bad at hitting the submit button. I've already called my dad to tell him happy birthday. (It's 2 AM and he has to be at work at 7, totally worth it)!
