The ROM upgrade to 6.1 went well and it looks great (outstanding work!).
I have no sound at all now.
Vibrate works.
Speaker is on etc but no ring, sounds, anything.
Any ideas?
Also - is there a way to get rid of the start-up flash that shows TEST ONLY, NOT FOR SALE ?

1. Click on the link in my sig. go to radios folder, then 6.1 radios, d/l one and flash it. you are using a 6.0 radio and it wont work.
2. while there, pick a splash screen and flash it as well.

Also, its a harsh world here at XDA and the regulars like people to do some reading and research before asking questions (unfortunatly, you asked a question that has been answered about a billion times over the last few years and lesser men have been kicked senseless for asking the same question as you).
We all loved dutty but he's gone. Its time to move on and find someone new.

Here's what's truly ironic about the OP's bump, is that just before posting it, he flamed someone here.
Anyway, using my magical powers, this thread will never be bumped again...
Asked a few times on Dutty's April thread and also sent a PM (although I didn't expect a reply from the PM)
My question is/was:
Is there going to be another Dutty ROM for the Kaiser? or is the April one the last. As there was a few minor problems with it there was mention he was going to do another but no one seems to be saying least of all Dutty - course I did read he was chilling for a bit.

If you want to know what the cook is making for dinner then ask the cook. Asking the people in the super market won't help. If the cook doesn't answer you then just wait to see what he puts on the table. Unless your paying for the meal then be polite and don't bother the Chef. In short one would assume by your question that you have your pants custom made due to the sher size of your balls and I would bet their brass as well.

He did say in one of the threads that he was getting a new device so development might slow down on his kaiser roms. If I was reading between the lines I would guess he's looking to move on. But I'm not a mind reader and so will take whatever he says literally, but really it's none of my business whether he continues or not.
If you'd have read the threads properly you would have noticed him mentioning this, he has done so more than once. Anyway, take it easy, but really this goes against the grain of the community, i.e. 'giving', none of the cooks owe us anything so we shouldn't be chasing them up with whether they're releasing a new ROM not.

Ah ok...well if we are going to discuss something worthwhile... then by all means.
MY girlfriend and I have gotten into watching alot of asian horror, and have branched out into other countries as well.
Check out "El Orfanto", The Orphanage, a very good ghost story from Spain.
If you haven't seen Pan's Labyrinth, or really anything by Guillermo del Toro, you should check it out.
I must say that most of the asian horror is sort of "out there" and doesn't make as much of an impact to western sensibilities... good acting, pacing, but much left unexplained. One that isn't exactly "horror" but just an awesome, messed up story...see Oldboy, a korean film.

I never said it was my business, and maybe it 'goes against the grain' but it was a perfectly legitimate question and was asked clearly with nothing other than, I'll wait if there is another on the way.. rather than install the 'last' ROM.

Best thing I can tell you, before you get flamed for that post, is read. Also, you need to be more specific with your issue. If you want someone to hand hold you through the process, your probably not going to find the help you are looking for. Reading and searching are your friends. I am not being mean in anyway. People have gotten flamed in the past for a post like that. First, you didn't say if you've already searched. Second, you mention very little detail of your problem. Third, you don't mention which rooting method you are using and where you are in the process. Just on the last point alone, I think you are trying to have someone walk you through the process. In which case, you don't need to root if you won't take the time to read, read, and read again, and try the process yourself. Not trying to jump on ya, just from your post it seems like you are not even trying to help yourself first. If you have a genuine issue, please, give us more detail to make an effort to help you.

Because you didnt discover it was useless until it was too late, like, after 31 days of having it?
Don't blame the phone for your inability to do what 90% of the people in these sections of XDA managed to do just fine.
Now, maybe you should go do a little reading.
Then, if, after you've made an honest attempt to figure it out using the plethora of resources at your disposal here, you still run into problems, and are willing to provide a little more insight into the nature of your specific problem, people might be a bit more willing to lend a hand.

Man rooting an inspire is not that hard. You just need to follow directions. Read up on the root methods available watch the videos choose your preferred method read the tutorial and watch the video AGAIN then do it. 99% of the time it will work. I used the hack kit But ive heard bubbys works great too. My inspire was rooted 20 mins after I got it. But I read and watched the videos long before it arrived. It really isnt something you should just decide to do on a whim. You should really understand the process and what each individual step does before attempting.

Oh geeze, here we go, everyone here at xda is omnipitant, not everone knows every aspect of this site, if he/she doesnt know how to root why would you expect them to know where/how to search and what to read if they did, some people do deserve a break hes just frustrated.

Hes right,
The main part of being successful with these devices is everything he said, you really shoud read,read,watch whatever it takes to be totally sure about the process. You must be very careful if its your first time, and at the same time, ive learned, you cant let it intimedate you, it will be much harder and that much easier to mess up. If you do all these things and are still not sure or dont feel right about doing it, find somone close to you that can.

Well, for one thing, if by "omnipitant" you mean *omnipotent*, then you probably *really* meant *omniscient*, so I understand what you meant. I think.
What I don't understand, however, is why you think that someone who doesn't know how to root shouldn't be expected to know how to search for information about rooting.

Alright, now that I understand what you are saying a bit better, I agree, people won't ever stop asking for help, or being ignorant.
And as long as I have this phone and am otherwise able to, I won't ever stop helping people. . . but not if they post out of frustration, *expecting people here on XDA to be "omniscient"*, knowing exactly how to fix their problem with only the vaguest of details provided.

Think of him as an infant, a new born. He doesnt know any better. I dont think he posted out of frustration, i think it is more of a cry for help.
but besides all that, hopefully we've all learned something today. I know I have.
For years i've thought i knew what "omnipotent" means lol! Learn somethin knew everyday.

Scott has always been helpful to me. And I have always seen him helpful to others that have made the effort to learn and couldn't figure something out. There's a reason his thanks meter is at 52.

Sad thing is though if he searched he would have seen everyone else getting flamed for this exact same question and type of post. Then he would have known better and how to ask the question and seek help. And Scott I'm going to make a damn sticky on how to search. This they didn't know how to search and cant get past the clutter thing isn't an excuse.
coming from the droid incredible and hero before it.. the inspire is alittle more difficult to root. but if u say take 30 mins out of your day its not that bad.. just stay focused and read and go slow and you will be on your way..

It probably looked like I was jumping on the guy because I was. A little. Thin skins don't do well, here, though.
There's nothing wrong with defending someone, when appropriate, I've done it I think, maybe a total of 3 or 4 times, all cases where a user was unfairly blamed for something or was made to feel like they weren't a worthwhile contributor or called a name because they weren't able to answer someone's question to their satisfaction.
All I'm saying is that XDA is less noob-centric than other forums. That's not to say noobs shouldn't come here to learn...I lost my basic noobness here (and I say basic, 'cause I don't know half the **** some people here do) ... Just that there's an expectation to fulfill some prerequisite familiarization with one's device, and to be at least a little proficient in problem-solving on one's own before posting.

I was just waiting for it to come down to this. I get the feeling I'm one of the few that read every post in the threads for Incredibly Re-engineered, The Perfect Storm, and Gingeritus up until the holiday weekend began. It's not like the guy just had a bad day. It's more like for a couple months now people were getting way outta line with him about how he built his ROMs. Go over and read the thread for IR. As long ago as last year he was dealing with slugs that didn't read the OP. One of the reasons he put the wipe script in there was because of all the idiots flashing without wiping, then posting how his ROM sucked and had all kinds of issues, like it was his fault. I've flashed his ROMs onto many different phones, flawlessly, and everytime I hand the phone back to the owner they're like "Wow! This thing is FAST!" Yeah, maybe this subject is a dead horse, but it really bothers me how folks treat one another sometimes, especially when the bad attitude comes from a moron directed at someone basically giving gifts away. The mere thought of doing what these guys do makes me want to sever major arteries in my body. But, I'm sure glad they like it because I like the results! I could gripe about how the home screens are full of icons and widgets nobody would use, or the lack of some features like wireless tether in some ROMs, or the screen brightness, or the kernel he packed with it, but is there a point? No. I'm some nobody that stumbled across his work one day and thought "Gosh! This is top drawer work!" When someone puts there heart and time into something and applies the skills acquired over years, it shows. It shows in Chingy's work all the way back to Re-engineered for the EVO. I completely understand how he'd feel reading some of the posts on his threads. I would probably have done the same thing, except sooner. Sometimes I wonder why there aren't as many devs here as I'd like to see, especially for kernels, but I don't need to wonder long. I've screwed up my phone before. I've gotten pissed because it looked like some dev couldn't do anything right, but the reality is if his work was that bad, it wouldn't have been posted long enough for me to download. So I point the finger at me. Sometimes trying to get something to work just pisses me off because I'm not a dev, or even that wise to this stuff in general. Restore a nandroid and keep on having a good day. Pretty simple. It's hard to believe that's too hard for everyone to do! I feel bad for Chingy. More than a couple folks have gotten ugly with him over a long span of time. Gingeritus 1.1 is out now. I'm gonna go get that and continue enjoying how CHINGY, and ONLY CHINGY, believes a sense ROM should work.

Dude, you are a dev yourself. Why would you make snide remarks about a fellow dev? You have the temperament of a pregnant rhino and expect your peers to take **** while you go about posting comments about them in their threads like you did with virus? What is wrong with you?

These same "fellow" devs say the same snide remarks towards me. There is no code of honor.
That said, if you cannot stand the pressure of some dickhead users, then hang up the title belt. That goes for any dev, including myself. I mean I could get mad and retreat to my own forum because you called me a catty old lady, but I don't have that thin of skin. Sorry.
As for the virus issue, that was effing ridiculous because the dev jumped on me, and he didn't even take the time to read ahead of time and see what the deal was, and that I was dealing with accusations of kanging. QUITE the different issue.
Deving anything in the android community requires thick skin. Sure I get mad. But I have not yet picked up my ball and gone home. The day I do, it won't be for reasons that a user got butt hurt for not reading.

I need to make an apology. Another dev had to do this earlier and now it is my turn.
He was right. We are all a bit angry at people who are posting unnecessary things, but that is no excuse to be rude. I still maintain that this forum has one of the best communities, and I will not let anyone tell me otherwise. I started on this forum in april of this year. That is 4 months ago. Look what I have accomplished. I am nowhere near the level of some of our other devs, but I am so much better than I was then. I WAS a N00B. I was that person with a million questions.
I remember the first time I soft bricked. It was late at night and all of a sudden that beautiful boot animation that I just realized cold be changed started repeating itself after I tried to flash an update to scv5. I panicked. I opened up the lifehacker article on unbricking, posted a new thread with a stupid question, and I started to realize I had no money to buy a new phone. Bottom line is it was the end of the world for me.
But, thanks to all the wonderful people here, i got it fixed. My heartbeat was probably 200 while the fxz flashed, but I got it done
I now bootloop every other day practically. restoring is no problem. ICS was a whole different story, but that is not for here. That is when I had my first hardbrick. but once again thanks to the help of others I am now on scv7 with some mods to it.
To all of you who have posted stupid unnecessary things, and yes there are many I am sorry. as the Moderator Moscow Desire said in a PM after me posting a rude response that lead to me writing this "n00bs will always be at XDA. This is a fact of life. Yes, they post stupid things sometimes, and yes, they will always NEVER do a search or read other posts. It's always been like this. And yes, it gets frustrating at times."
We know you are out their. and we can try to stop it, but there will be people who do dumb things. But that is not an excuse for any of us to be rude to them. My mom always told me in school that there will always be bosses you hate just like your teachers, and coworkers you hate st like your classmates, so you might as well learn to get along with them. Let me start this by saying i am still a N00B, saying that Initially i was also annoyed with all those questions people were asking.. i myself started a new thread trying to clear few basic questions.. but as the time went by realised that the senior community was more harsh than anything else.. the more we teach the more we learn thats what say in my part of the world.. but i believe all is well, all that is needed is that you guys get into serious ICS development once the OTA arrives.. and <3 you guys..

I guess one just has to realise that there are ppl here with different tech capacities. So knowledgeable ppl like u and the other magnificent devs should have a little more patience with us , the eternal the omni present n00bs... u guys are doing a great job !! keep it up!!! We ask stupid questions coz we are scared that the beloved fone will brick...we want to be 10 times sure that flashing will not render it useless...but still we do it ..coz everybody loves a kick!!!! I guess.. my take on this....

Yeah, but on the other side of the coin, if you are on XDA that means you are looking to experiment, you want to try new things, you need a fast and functional ROM or that mod you like so much or simply want to root it and then there are few who are here just to learn.
But for all this you gotta have few attributes
1. Guts
2. Little knowledge
3. Able to go through few threads before starting anything
4. And last but most important, knowing where the search button is.
This still a n00b saying this, dont get me wrong. I am here to learn, i am getting into it slowly but surely. Thanks to the devs.

Well it is really not patients that is the problem that we are all having at the moment. It is the fact that everyone now seems to think they are the ONLY one with a certain problem with x, and rather than posting in the thread that deals with x they make a new thread, and then when you ask why they did not search it is always "I searched, and none of the threads deal with MY exact issue".
The issue with this is that is shows a lack of respect for everyone in here, that might be working on an issue, and that person just bumped another thread that might have that or a similar issue in it, and now everyone is reading that new glowing orange thread on the board.
The next issue is that people have to trust us.
Next, it seems we have a new rash of noobs that don't want to listen and then still post a new thread when their issues is not solved in another thread and then keep bumping that thread if no one replies.
Again these are all thing that show alot of issues and lack of respect to your dev team, we are here to help, but the more you guys all help us, the more we can help you.
P.S. I had to post this same thread a few weeks back, because of all the frustrations as well.... see a pattern here.

I just joined XDA not long ago and I too have noticed a lot of pointless threads. I admit I did post a stupid question before, but I found the answer myself and went back and changed my question. But I did not go and make a new thread about it. I think the issue is A. people are lazy in general, and B. There is so much to try and wrap your head around, and no one wants to brick their device. I only have 1 device and I would love to try experimenting with different ROMs and things, because I am constantly wanting a new phone. I have had the A2 for about 9 months now and I am bored with it. But I have that fear of bricking it and then I am screwed. So for now I will continue to search through different threads and try to learn as much as I possible can before I jump in and try flashing ROMs. I notice some people just try flashing ROMs without really any knowledge then post new threads with the issues that they have. If they would just take the time to read through threads prior to jumping in there would be less of this issue. I just want to Thank all the Devs here that put so much time into all the work they do here!! Definitely the best mobile dev community out there!!

dude i had the same ROM for 9 months before, without a single wipe, and i never got close to bored, the hw buttons messed up so i had to sell. your phone isnt your game console or gf ... its a phone, no offense
