Data connection messed up? Proxy issue? Help! - Touch Pro, Fuze General

OK, i've done literally about 40 flashes today and I seek help from the wonderful guru's of XDA. Yesterday out of no where my data connection would not connect. It showd it connected by opera, youtube, weather, etc would not connect to any website. I did a hard reset and it went away. Now my connection holds for about 5 minutes before i get an "Error - No Network" on opera or a "Connection Failed!" on youtube. The problem persists for about 2-3 minutes and it kicks back up again. Sometimes it only does this on youtube which led me to believe it was a proxy issue, but i assure you its disabled and i ran da_g "remove hidden proxy tool". I've flashed 6 different radio roms and the proble persists. I also flashed romeOS v1.70.3, da_g 2.06, 2.07, and proven 1.14a all had the same issue. Any ideas? I called ATT asking if they were doing something in my area (Ithaca, New York) and they said no.
I have a HTC FUZE with Cingular, and I'm using the $15 cheapo internet.

Can you connect via activesync and/or wifi?

I can connect through wifi, not sure what you mean through active sync. If I try to tether then my laptop cannot connect either.

I had the same issue this morning, but turned out it was a major data outage on ATT's part. http://blog.dataoutages.com/2009/02/02/texas-area-outage-020209/
My data connection started working around 3:30 PM. hope it was the same for you.

I like in Los Angeles
the exact same thing happened to me last night. opera wouldn't work but youtube and skyfire did.
Today I can't get anything to work! I called and they want me to do a hard reset, but I'd rather wait it out.

I've heard that AT&T will block your internet if they find out you're using a smartphone with the cheaper internet plan, I have a feeling this might be the problem. GL!

This thread should have been posted in raphael software or in the Q&A thread in the raphael forum. Unless you want all of the chefs to stop cooking please keep this forum clean for development.

maybe it was att cause oddly enough everything is working as of 2 hrs ago, woohoo
P.S. sorry for the post didnt quite know where it belonged myself

This thread should be moved to another forum, since its here I'll answer it, ATT had major network issues over the last 48 hours (across the country) some areas had rolling black outs other were just out (EDGE/3G) your phone could see it but not connect to it. The issue is now fixed (ie chances were it was not an issue with your phone/settings)

It appears the issue is hitting in VA right now. I've had the issue since around 2:00pm EST today.

It's 8pm here, and I still have problems here in LA

I'm still down, anyone else?

tmobile uk email issues

Ok 2 days ago I started to have a problems with email on my kaiser, it just displays error synchronizing and thats it, opera, ie, weather works fine on gprs, 3g and hsdpa but email simply doesnt work...
I've rechecked settings 10 times, soft reseted 10 times and nothing...
its runing l26 rom but I don't think it matters because it was working fine for a long time before and just suddenly stopped. the only thing that has changed that morning is that I tried Android on it but it shouldn't affect anything after soft reset, am i right?
any ideas?
in account set-up go to "advanced server settings" and make sure "network connection" is set to T-Mobile internet instead of "the internet".
any good?
no luck, one account was set as internet, other as tmobile internet and none worked, changed both to tmobile internet but still no joy...
strangest thing is that if i turn on wifi it works instantly, just over gprs... could tmobile restrict pop/smtp/imap traffic on my account? but on the other hand if that would be the case i think it would even try to connect and time out but now it just displays error instantly when i select send/receive....
have you tried changing settings to t-mob internet and then soft reset??
it sounds like the exact problem i had setting up my new diamond and that was the culprit.
does the "error syncronising" come up as soon as you send/recieve? or does it try to connect first?
yes, i have done soft reset after changing settings. error synchronising comes up as soon as i press send receive, and then second later popup baloon msg that cannot connect with these settings, please review settings and try again....
ultimately if i cannot get this to work before next week I'll slam new rom on it and see if it works...
all i can suggest is to delete accounts and start again?
Not to rub it in but ive just done a send/recieve on mine using t-mob internet and its working fine so at least you know its a handset problem!!
thanks for a little brain storming... i did add one new account from scratch before posting here and it hasn't solved the problem.
i think it must be a software glitch... i planned to update to a newer rom anyway so I'll just do it next week...
Gosh, Ihope it won't happen to me..
just a follow up to this problem, yesterday, for no apparent reason my emails started working again, I woke up in the morning, quick look at my mobile and hey presto! 17 unread emails... very bizzare... maybe tmobile had some networking issues locally but I'll never know...

WiFi - Not working at all HTC Touch Pro

Hi,
Having some really odd problems with an HTC Touch Pro....
It was working fine, IMAP a bit slow over WiFi but nothing I couldn't put up with, I was using: 1.66.405.1 then today the WiFi just disappeared... Nothing
Whenever in comms manager I clicked on WiFi I got the whirling WM icon and then nothing
I faithfully backed up and reflashed in case it was something I'd done... No nothing..
I've since upgraded to 1.90.405.1 and still have the same problem!
Does anyone have any bright ideas to how I can get WiFi working again.
I should add that in the Wireless LAN settings screen it says:
Wireless LAN is OFF. Turn on Wireless LAN (but clicking the link has zero effect!)
touch pro wi fi not working
i have the same problem pls someone help
Try to upgrade to ROM 1.90.456.3, I hope you will get rid of many problems in Touch pro.
htc touch pro
can you pls tell me how am i going to do this PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I'm quite happy flashing ROMs (I've installed enough on this one!!!)
But can someone tell me where I might find ROM 1.90.456.3 (it's not in the Wiki)
Or any ROM people believe will fix my WiFi problems?
This is really frustrating!!
I'm having issues too. Wireless had been working fine then out of the blue last night I couldn't get connected back to my wireless LAN. Now its been a day and still cannot. I rebooted my router and one of my access points. This is driving me nutz...
Does your wireless icon even come on, or does it just sit there with the rotating icon and nothing happens before it goes back to the comm manager?
I'm going to reflash this again - can someone suggest a stable ROM that might solve my WiFi problems?

The wireless adapter was active and could see the networks, but it could never authenticate.
I did a hard reset and it's working again but I have to say the connection is a bit flaky in that it drops frequently even though I have a strong wireless signal.
Currently I don't even get that - it just toggles back to the "off" position after whirring for a little while!
I flashed it with the Elite ROM still nothing.
Took the battery out overnight, lo and behold this morning turned it on and the wireless icon appeared, the device promptly crashed!
After the reboot the aerial icon flashed up "network detected" and I nearly jumped for joy as I entered my password, only for it to crash again.
On this reboot the aerial icon was alive with the arrows going left and right as if it was trying to pickup an IP address, but nothing and when I went into comm manager or the settings menu it said wlan was not active (and wouldn't let me activate it!).
I've just reflashed it again with NATF Rom and still nothing, don't tell me I have to leave the battery out for 12 hours to get it?!
Settings>Connections>Wireless LAN>Power Mode - make certain that the slider is all the way to "Best Performance". With the slider anywhere else, connection will be difficult. Drove me nuts for a few days until I discovered a thread for other HTC machines on another site.
Surely I have to be able to turn on wireless first? I can't even do that!
I too have this issue, and have never been able to find ANYONE who can fix this issue, flashing to the latest rom version from AT&T to see if it will work then, if not, i think i might set my phone to factory and claim my insurance/warranty on this phone to get another one since almost nobody is having this issue and those that do say "search the forums" i have, and have found tons of people with it, but no fixes!
I have exactly the same ... because i use wm 6.5 (my own cooked) i thought is me did something wrong so flashed again with a new build, then nothing i went back to 6.1, still nothing seems the wifi controller is totally disapeared from the system unable to comunicate with the controller all progs i tried came back "The pipe is being closed" what is that i cant even see any wifi controller related in the system....
Someone please.anything works fine except WIFI
any recent developments on this issue?
I just recieved a BRAND NEW Fuze from HTC and im so pissed that the wifi isnt working......
I have the same problem ... i have flashed some ROM, some RADIOS, but the wireless still not working ...
Any ideas

Verizon Users Getting Stuck in 1X --- PLEASE READ!
For those of you who have the plaguing problem of your data connection dropping to 1X, I'm trying to spearhead this issue with Verizon and need your help.
Everytime I open a ticket, it get's closed stating that it's a signal issue with a specific location. We all know that this is not the case. I finally have got ahold of a Tech supervisor who gave me all of his contact information so that we could ALL direct our issue to him. He would then get it elevated through the proper channels and then hopfully they can find a fix. It's my hope that we can all email or call him and explain our issue. He was very nice to work with on the phone and said he is dedicated to getting the problem resolved. I think he's looking at this from a global look rather than an isolated one like every other tech I've spoken to.
Here is his contact information:
Kevin Drakeford

Charleston, SC Call Center
Please email or call him with your information and make sure to inform him all of the steps that you've tried that have been unsuccessful (new phone, hard reset, etc etc).
I will try and follow up with him later in the week. Msg here if you contacted him. Hopefully we can get this fixed and be left with just an awesome working phone!
I emailed the guy, it happened once a week when I was on the VZN rom.
dezoris, what rom are you using now? does it not get stuck in 1x?
just curious...
I had this problem on stock VZN ROM and still have it on MightyMike ROM...
Sent Kevin a message
I sent him one!
I haven't had my phone 2 months & this is pissing me off!
I have also had a complete loss of data connection period! Grrrrr
After doing the *228 & option 2 to sync with tower. Got WORSE!

I haven't had any problems like that with my Verizon Touch Pro 2, that goes for the stock Verizon ROM and the MightyMike one I'm currently using.
This has happened to me a couple of times. It is VERY annoying. and i KNOW it's not a signal issue. What kind of "debugging" should i do before i email the vzw manager guy? I don't want to send an email without doing a little debugging work. That way i seem like i know what i'm talking about.
PS. i agree, this is probably not an isolated issue.
I work at a large international airport in a metro area. It goes without saying there is a ton of cell capacity in the area.
Yet I continually drop to 1X when on a data connection. I always thought this was just "one of those things" or something to be expected. You are saying it is not but a bug in the product/ software / rom, etc?
Happens to be about once every other day. And I just soft reset and it goes back to normal.... Sucks I know.
Just stumbled on this thread and thought I would comment -- my TP2 is actually on Sprint and not VZW, but I've seen this problem fairly frequently even going back to my old Mogul/Titan, so it seems to be a legacy CDMA issue. I think there are two kinds of problems, though, so I am curious to know more about what people are experiencing.
First, as you know, incoming calls or SMS must drop the phone from EVDO to 1X -- this isn't usually a problem because it should snap right back to EVDO after the 1X packets are done. However, I have seen many occasions where it "sticks" on 1X *as long as the phone is still trying to transfer data* -- such as Exchange push or streaming Internet radio. If the phone keeps trying to access the data connection, it will stay in 1X indefinitely most of the time. If the data connection goes dormant for more than about 20 seconds, it seems to finally revert back to EVDO.
The other circumstance is where it seems to just drop to 1X and stay there, and not even cycling the radio on/off seems to make a difference -- you have to soft reset.
I guess what I am wanting to drill into is how many instances are of the first time and how many are of the second. It did take me a while to realize, for example, that if I got an SMS while listening to streaming radio, the data connection was going to drop to 1X and stay there until I closed the streaming radio app. Similarly, I often get as many as 2-3 emails a minute during peak times of the day (I know, my company needs to take some valium), so the constant Exchange syncs never give the data connection a long enough "break" to get back up to EVDO. The main point is, the first type of problem is more or less a CDMA protocol issue that we're probably stuck with, while the second type seems to be a definite bug with either the radio or the OS.
I notice the issue too, but worse it will go into and endless loop of popups letting me know of the situation and the only way to make them go away is to soft reset. Dismissing the popup just makes it come back again over and over. Calling this a legacy CDMA issue is bull as none of my other phones or Blackberries, even my piece of junk Storm have ever done this. Windows mobile needs to give us a decent radio to fix this. The only Verizon EVDO capable Winmobile device I have had that did not have this problem was the XV6700 so this has to be something to do with more recent devices. It has happened on HTC and Samsung devices, so it can't be manufacturer specific. It is the primary reason I moved most of my lines over to Blackberry. I got my wife one of those new Android phones, 1st the HTC one and when she decided she wanted a keyboard, the Moto one and neither one does this.
1x stuck
Same issues as everyone else here to.
i have found when i go to start/settings/connections and launch the comm manager, do do anything just launch it it corrects the issue.
thats strange but it has worked everytime for me.
Everyone whose having this issue on Verizon. Please please please email Kevin on post #1. Having one person as the sole contact on this issue WILL help get it worked out through Verizon. Kevin was very helpful and is a Tech Support Supervisor. Thanks!
Ok verified work around that works for me I'm on day 4 and im still on a EVDO connection.
1. Com manager
2. Press 3G connection and set your network type to auto.
3. dont press ok.
4. Press the X in the top right corner.
5. Soft reset.
So far this method has "fixed" my issue as of 4 days ago. Previously I would go 1 or 2 days before seeing the issue again.

I can't seem to find "3g Connection" as an option or setting under the com mananger. Am I looking in the wrong place? Which OS/ROM are you running?
I am on stock Verizon WinMo 6.1. Thanks for any help.
Sorry your right. Im running the CDMA energy rom. Yours should be stated as Data connection.
You should really consider upgrading your rom. I held out for a long time and just gave in.
I'm actually on verizon with tp2, Verizon is well aware of this issue(as far as i;m concerned). When I put on a custom rom, it showed up, however I needed to put back the default rom from verizon it went away. I put the energy rom back on and it's back. If verizon knows how to ship phones with that annoyance turned off can't we get a fix for the popups?
That pop up is most annoying!

Posible fix for stuck in 1x!
I'm going to go out on a limb here.
I posted in a coupl eother places and got no response on this which was original phone settings before I flashed
Same normal Phone settings for #777
BUT, the other read as follows:
VZWEmbedded
Log on: emsgsm.vzw3g.com
Pass: vzw (I tried our regular password & it worked)
In networking don't select on setup ie just your #777, set it to auto.
Here's my point:
No longer receiving multiple popups for: your device is registering on a voice line
More bars Show up now
Stay in 3g longer and now the phone calls up 3g for when data needs processing and data connection goes live as it should at this point.
Was using engery rom's nov 9 stable, worked with this switch
Now using Energys 6.5.3 28002 rom & working even better.
Running the same radio that came with phone version 1.88.
While i will drop periodically to 1x it does recover on it's own and isn't staying stuck.
Don't want to even look at 1x, update weather lol it works. So I am not to sure it's a hardware issue per say (maybe both who knows) since I have gotten rid of my popups. I'm not a programmer but sounds like a programming issue since it needs the 2nd set of connection strings.
What won't fix the issue is if you are in a bad area with very poor reception. I'm in the middle of a oak grove forest at the bottom of a hill and this is working for me.
Make sure you keep the 3g push in setting on and set to auto
Give ity a try!
Any thoughts on this?
oK AFTER much confusion on ppcgeeks, I need to calrify a few things.
This is a 2nd connection that you need to add.
The GSM is data, normally phone operates in cdma but it is making use of the gsm when over seas for email. It also uses gsm locally for data.
Since adding the 2nd connection all popups are gone. data connections are better on new rom then on stock rom.
If you've made use of JMZ Provisioing you already have the 1st connection under My ISP. Just add the 2nd as noted above and under select network make sure it is set to auto. This allows verizon to switch as needed.
This has been happening to me for about the past 2 weeks. I just e-mailed Kevin. I plan to take it to our on campus Verizon store next week.
I am running a stock ROM with SPB Powershell 3.5 on top of it. EVDO comes can goes. Usually once I try to use an app that requires data (Pocketwit, Opera or even ActiveSync) it drops me to 1X and never connects. I have also gotten several PPP (error code 11) errors. Before this time, the phone had been rock solid with EVDO.
Now my ActiveSync wont even work when I am at home. It only works at work due to being plugged in via USB.
Hope Kevin can help us get to the bottom of it.
I was stuck in 1X for the last few days. My problem was resolved by dialing *228 and pressing '1' to program.

Usb Tethering Problem

I have a tp2 running the jun 11th energy rom on verizon. Every 30 minutes or so while tethering it disconnects and displays the message "The remote party has ended this connection". Is there anything that can be done about this or is this normal? Its making it a real pain to stream movies or download large files.
Thanks
Any luck on the issue?
I have the same issue as well. But with a newer version of Energy Rom. Jan 26th version to be exact.

Normally this is an issue with your connection to the cell phone company's DNS dropping. It's happened to me once before with T-Mobile. I simply called them up and asked them to reset my connection to the network. After that, no more connection issues.
I've had that same f'in problem for almost 2 years now with my Sprint TP2. No matter what rom I'm using, and I've been on almost every rom out there, my phone constantly disconnects randomly all the time I'm currently on the March 15th, 21916 version of Energy Rom and the same b.s. is happening. I did have Sprint reset my connection, but that does'nt last more than a few hours to a day at the most. And I've tried that trick numerous times over the last year. Nothing seems to stick Glad I also have my Epic 4g, no problems tethering there
The cause of my problem was since only one application on the phone can use the data connection at a, every 30 minutes or so my weather information would update and give me the error. Fixing it was as simple as turning of weather updating. I used mortscript to change the value in the registery to automate this.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
dont know if this will help, but we had MAJOR issues with disconnection when vision first started about 12-13 years ago, heh it was 2G then, lol
anyway to solve the problem back then, once your connected open a command prompt, (start->run cmd or click on dos icon under accessories) and type this exactly as is
ping yahoo.com -t
then hit enter, this will send a small constant ping to yahoo keeping the connection active all the time. like i said, it helped way back when
cheers,
disco
But won't that drain the battery?

[Q] A couple of issues regarding 3G

Hi there.
Just got a new HTC Titan on WP7.5, and it has come to my attention that annoyingly, whenever I try to download anything from the Marketplace through 3G, it sticks on the "Downloading..." screen. However, when I attempt to do this via WiFi, it downloads without trouble. I've had a look at a couple of threads with this same problem and there doesn't seem to be a true fix available for Windows Phone users. I've tried hard resetting the handset to no avail, and it's worth noting that the content I'm attempting to download is under 20mb.
Secondly, I seem to be having a problem connecting to Facebook/WLM Chat; on 3G, it connects successfully, displays online contacts and receives messages. Only problem being that, given about 30 seconds, it will randomly disconnect me. This leads me to have to resync both my Facebook and Live account for the chat to work again... for another 30 seconds.
Again, this works flawlessly when done through Wi-Fi - so you're most likely thinking that it's down to the network, right? Well, the browser works just fine on 3G at all times, so I'm unsure whether to blame the ISP for this one.
Any help would strongly be appreciated.
