You probably have something set up on your device forcing the connection to search for an update or something. Check your weather settings to see if it is setup to grab updated weather information automatically every so often - Or it could be another program looking to update or gather information automatically. Other than this, I do not know. I have never experienced this. It might help if you gave us some more information - What device are you using (Touch is very vague) do you have Touch Vogue, Elf or Elfin, Pro, Diamond etc..., ROM, Recenty installed apps etc... Have you recenly flashed a new ROM

I know this app is out there somewhere, but I'm unable to come up with the right search terms and I'm hoping that someone reading this thread will know what i'm talking about. So here goes:
I need a program that basically acts as a scheduler for which services will be turned on and off.
For instance, If I know that i walk to work between 7:30 - 8:00am, I'd like Bluetooth=On, Wifi=Off, Phone=On, etc. Once I get to work between 8 and 5, I might want this program to turn the bluetooth off, turn 3G data off, etc, but then once I get home turn wifi On, Bluetooth back on, etc etc. You get the idea. Basically a program that I schedule when certain connections should be available, which is really just a way to conserve maximum battery power. I saw a program that did exactly this during the waiting for the fuze to come out, but I must have forgotten to bookmark that page.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Hi,
You could try Communication Manager Pro (shareware). It can be found here http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Enhancements/Communication-Manager-Pro-CommMgrPro-37327.shtml
I tried the previous version 2.3 and it had some issues with randomly disconnecting bluetooth so for me it wasn't a keeper. Maybe current version has this bug ironed out.

Check out SPB Phone Suite, it has a lot of scheduling features for com and sound settings
I use SPB Phone Suite, and it works as a dream.
You can also set a profile that is linked to your calendar, so you can make the phone silent when in a meeting.
It also support hardware-triggers, like turning on a profile when charging, another when headset is connected and so on.
Thanks for the replies gents. I think SQB might have been the one I'm thinking of. If there are others people use, keep them coming. If there's a free tool that will do this, even better, but i suppose $20 might be reasonable depending on what else the software does. I'll check it out.
There is a free tool: WirelessTime.

No, not used yet. If you use it, let us know how it works for you.
I am not sure if this has been discussed before but searching didn't help much as I am not sure what keyword to use.
I have a Fuze (Touch Pro) without the data service and would like the phone to periodically get the mails over WiFi. I am posting it here assuming this would apply to all WinMo devices. If not, please enlighten me.
In default settings, the phone disconnects WiFi as soon as it goes to sleep. I used Advanced Config to enable WiFi even in sleep, but now it stays connected all the time even though Pocket Outlook is configured to run every 15 minutes. For last several months it has been working this way but it drains the battery very quickly unlike my iPhone, which lasts the more than a day because it connects only to check mails when inactive.
I know with 3G service I don't have worry about it but wondering if there is any utility or setting in registry that would connect periodically for a minute or two so that PO can check for new messages.
Thanks.

Thanks powersupplyzzzz. The interval is already configured in ActiveSync/Pocket Outlook, but it doesn't connect to the WiFi unless it's already connected. Does it work for others? I mean does it connect to WiFi automatically when ActiveSync is ready to sync?
Wondering if I posted in the wrong forum or I am asking for something not possible on WM at the moment ...

AFAIK what you are asking is not possible, unless you ask someone to write you a script or there is an app that does this, but i havent come across one.
Thanks timmymarsh, this is what I was afraid of. I guess the old iPhone still has some use for this advantage.

What you need is a car battery that you can strap to your back which will boost your battery when required
I'll have a fish around for a real solution.
Just changed to the new WM 6.5.3 stock rom~ but im finding a few problems with power consumption. Then I realised its cus my Wifi is always turned on! In previous roms I could set wifi so that it only connected when I update my weather or browse the internet, however with this new rom I find that Wifi will always try to connect if there is a connection nearby. So I thought I'll use TD2 Tools 3 to turn it off, but then the WLAN On Demand tab inactivated so I couldnt change it~
so is there anyone out there that knows a registry or have a cab so that I can turn this tab on? or even better just make my wifi on demand?
Welcome to the club I have exactly the same problem. With my previous ROM I used G-trigger application to toggle wifi, bt and some programsn but with this new ROM G-trigger doesn't want to work. I get an error message as soon ss I try to launch it. I've come up with some workaround but haven't tested it yet. There's a small wifi toggle program which I want to use and place a shortcut to it on home screen. A bit annoying but should work untill somebody comes up with a better solution.
Fixed problem with g-trigger: downloaded it from author's website, installed in main memory (device) instead of storage card and it works - can toggle wifi, bt and control other functions with just a simple shake

This solution created by me will solve all your problems:
[CAB] [WM6.5, WM6.5.x] [HTC] Wi-Fi On Demand for Custom/Official Roms
Actually, I was able to find a nice cab with task manager somewhere else on the forum, but still good work and thanks.

Thanks to this forum, my less-than-2months-old Verizon TP2 (Rhod500) phone has internet sharing working and some great apps, although I'm still on the stock 6.1 rom (my phone didn't come with 6.5 and the forums seem to show that Verizon's rom is not the greatest). I'm not brave enough to flash.
However, I've a couple of 'general' questions that I can't seem to solve.
1. When syncing (ActiveSync 4.5), I now have an error showing 2 unresolved files. As far as I can tell, I haven't lost any files. Is there somewhere that I can look to find the list of what is/isn't being synced? When I click on the error message, it just tries to resync and repeats the error. My old IPAQ used to allow me to see what files were unresolved but that doesn't seem to be happening here.
2. Since enabling internet sharing (Tom_Codon), my backlight dims but never completely goes dark. My Settings > All Settings > Power > Advanced has Battery - Turn off backlight if not used for 1 min selected but no sleep mode selected. I think that sleep mode was selected before the internet sharing was enabled, but I'm not sure. Is this so that the internet doesn't cut out? Should this change?
Any advice will be greatfully appreciated. (My Verizon service center people know NOTHING about the TP2 - ask them about mediaphones and they're great. And it seems like nobody has asked these questions before, or my forum search just isn't working well.)
Moving this to the CDMA sub forum.

Do the ROM upgrade! I too was afraid but so glad that I did. It fixed a lot of glitches that I had with 6.1. Then head over to the forum "Software worth installing on the TP2" and knock yourself out! Especially Cookie's Home Tabs! It's a must have. (You'll also need CHTE...Cookie's Home Tabes Editor) Look for Touch X Manila Tweaks too. (if your device uses Sense 2.5 after the ROM upgrade) It will tweak the device to speed up the Sense 2.5 user interface and cut down on the memory used too, I think.
Q1. Not that I'm aware of. But, maybe you changed a a couple of files in both the device and the sync folder located in your PC's "My Documents"?
Q2. Tom Codon's WiFi should run if you enable sleep mode. If not...well, I guess you'll have to disable it. I just know that my Sprint TP2 runs this program even after it shuts off.
I'm still a bit of a nube too but I hope I helped.
Hey,
I have a HTC Touch Diamond and i tried out today Android. It looks good, working with it is like under WM. There is one thing that makes me angry. During the installation it has established automaticly a connection to the internet. It is okay, if i want it. I found after 30 min. of search no function or setting to disable the automatic connection and that made it not really trustworthy. Any idea where i can find a Setting to deactivate that ?
Thanks for help
On android handsets you hold the power button, then it gives options to turn off phone, put into plane mode, and turn off data connection.
