Help with pantech duo threaded sms... - General Questions and Answers

My friend recently gave me his Pantech Duo after I broke my Tilt. I unlocked it and it works fine, although I am really missing my Tilt. The thing that is most aggravating is the absence of threaded sms. Does anyone know how I can get this? I know I can update to 6.1, but in the user agreement it said after I upgraded, my phone would only be usable with an AT&T contract. I didn't know if this was true or not, but I didn't want to run the risk (I have tmobile). I'd be fine with WM6 if I could just get threaded sms, but apparently you can't run cab files like you could on the tilt. Any help you guys could give me would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thats because the phone is put out by att, therefore the liscense was given to att, which they then pass to you (as an att customer) You will be fine. You aren't going to get much help around here though, this site is htc.

750v in Japan

man, i never said i was the smartest, I spent like a week in the hermes forums looking for info that I could possibly be using on my treo!!! First question is there any 750 users in Japan? Hopefully there are, I just picked mine up in HK and have been using it here in japan for about 3 weeks, I love the phone just can't seem to work the mms bugs out of it, hopefully some members are using theres in japan on softbanks service.
Hello Etriess
I been thinking of getting the 750v and have had the X01HT by SB but the unit was too slow.. Window... How is the speed of the 750V? do you have software slowdown issues? and what provider are you using? Docomo ? SB?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Catfish
Hey catfish,
I am using SB service, so I didn't have any issues when it was unlocked. I have now unlocked it and still working fine, I have not used anyother sim card except SB's. As far as speed is I haven't had another WM phone so really nothing to compare it to. I do like it, the speed to me is fine, I like my phone software to be fast, that is why I would never use a samsung phone again the software is just to dam slow, so sorry couldn't help with that question.
etriess,
I just brought over an unlocked treo 750 from the US to Japan and using with with a SB sim card. The one problem I'm having is that I can't access the internet with the phone. The direct push/email synch is working for me, but for some reason I can't access the internet. I'm currently using the Vodofone Access Point and I tried the new *99# access point, but nothing is working for me. Supposedly "open.softbank.ne.jp" used to work, but it was shutdown at the end of April. Do you information on an access point that works with the Treo 750?
I just moved back to Japan, and I have an unlocked Cingular Treo 750 (WM5). I also subscribed with Softbank, with their unlimited packet internet plan. Can anyone tell me the settings they are using for their treo 750 if they are using it with their treo? How did you configure your access point settings? I have been able to make phone calls, but I have not been able to get any data portion to work. I tried some of the suggestions on the Hermes forum, but I could not get the password necessary for the AP to work. Are you using the old cingular/vodaphone settings? Are you being billed per packet?
Thanks.
Yukster,

Opensoftbank AP Password conundrum
I am working on the solution to this problem. I think the answer lies in the WIFIwake.exe program that is available on the Hermes and Universal forums. There are three ways this problem could get solved:
1) Edit the WIFIwake.exe so that it can be used with other devices (possible I assume, because the Hermes WIFIwake is a slightly changed copy of the Universal WIFIwake) This will probably prove beyond my capabilities.
2) Get the password by looking at the code of WIFIwake.exe. I have managed to open the exe with a debugger program and there are some likely contenders. I am in the process of trying them now. Trying them all will take some time.
3) Find the guy who wrote these programs and get him to write another that is either universal or that can be used on a Treo 750. I, personally, don't want a 750, but there are more than a few Japanese users I have seen that would be interested in getting this to work.
Anything in here anyone can help me with? I need it.
it works in japan. tested by myself. (in tokyo at least)
@SirJeannot, can you be more specific? I know the 750v should work in Japan as it has the right radios, but the question is what access protocol is being used.
Can you access the internet using a softbank simcard? If so, what access point name are you using? Is it open.softbank.ne.jp? Or is it something else?
Also, can you access Softbank MMS?
Sorry, no solutions as of yet... I have temporarily given up, and bought a Sharp EM One when works on the E Mobile network. I also got a regular Softbank cellphone, (Toshiba 911T) and is patiently waiting for a solution. Right now, the Windows mobile situation is pretty bleak, with the X01HT being sold out, and its replacements being delayed for over 2 months. The solutions from wilcom is expensive and slow, being stuck on a 256 kbs PHS network, and expensive, with its unlimited data plan at over 12000 yen. At least the EM One is pretty capable, but large, and has no phone capabilities.
There is no debate that you can use the Treo 750 in Japan... I have roamed several times with it when it was with AT&T. I have put the softbank sim in, and it works fine, but the data portion did not work.

htc 6.1 voicemail problems!!

I am having problems recieving voicemails. it just says the caller you are trying to reach is not accepting calls. and when i hit ignore it gives a busy signal!! any ideas? i am running the htc wwe 6.1.
there is no problem with your rom. This is a problem with the caller you are trying to reach. Usually, they get that when they didn't pay their phone bill.
Could you give us a clue as to your country/operator? It sounds like something that needs enabling on your account with them.
well i was really worried it was my rom cuz it just started when i did that but for some reason att just dropped my voicemail????? pretty dumb but thanks.

HTC Fuze - Unlocked.. need help to understand a few things

Hi,
So I'm a completely new user, and a "noob" as you would call it to hacking phones. I'm on T-Mobile, and I've had quite a few phones, and I think I've narrowed it down to this phone.. the HTC FUZE (Raphael... I'm also still considering the HTC Touch HD, however, I've never even held or seen one in real life).
O.K., so here's my question and what I'd like to accomplish here. I'd like to understand how to get the most out of this phone.. IN A BASIC WAY.. What I mean by that, is until I understand custom apps, interfaces. etc WHATEVER.. I would just like to take an unlocked HTC fuze and use it on t-mobile.
Here's the deal. I just tried out an unlocked AT&T Fuze, and everything seemed to work fine, however when I tried to use the INTERNET, I couldn't connect (and I don't want to have to rely on wifi, so I expected to get the EDGE connection, since I know that 3g doesn't work with this phone on t-mobile.. no 1700/ whatever).
Please let me know what should/shouldn't work on an unlocked ATT HTC Fuze on tmobile.. and then, from there I'll work on getting rid of the "EXTRA" ATT app that suck the life out of this guy
THANKS IN ADVANCE...

Upgraded Apace won't activate on Sprint, WHY!

I just upgraded someone else's Sprint PPC 6700 to WM6. I followed the instructions and it upgraded with no trouble. I made a *2 test call and got Sprint customer service. However, when this guy tried to activate his phone (it was bought off eBay) Sprint said that it couldn't be activated. They said it had been flashed to another network, but I don't see how that's possible. Should I have run a carrier CAB file or something on it? Please help, I'm fairly new to this. I upgraded my sister's HTC Dash with no trouble, but I'm afraid I ruined this guy's phone.
So...
1. Why would Sprint think it was flashed to another network?
2. What can I do to make it work for Sprint?
3. Is there anyway I can reverse the process, maybe flash it to the original ROM (and where can I find that)?
Thank you so much for your help.

[Q] MMS Messaging - O2 uk

Cutting a long story short, I lost my last phone, and replaced it, via EBay, with a touch-pro 2
I was hoping for a uk unbranded, but alas, my money saving skills meant I wound up with a US Cellular TP2
I've had the phone a few weeks now, but am totally unable to get MMS working in a satisfactory way. I've tried a few ROMs, and the best success i had was Mighty Rom - initally no MMS software meant it just ignored MMS's totally - which I was first aware of when a friend asked me why i hadn't replied to one. Eventually with Arcsoft i could send MMS, and I could kinda recieve an MMS - but there would just be blankness - an no contact details - so now i knew I'd be sent an MMS I justn't didn't know what, or by who. Handy.
I had one rom which could recieve MMS's fine - but took 4 hours to pick up SMS messages - not good! So I know it can be done. I just need the ultimate package.
Anyway, I'm fairly Tech Savvy, though i have limited knowledge of all this rom cooking that goes on, but I'm capable of flashing roms etc.
What I want to know is are there any O2 uk customers out there sucesfully sending and recieving MMS messages on their CDMA Rhodiums? What ROM are you using? What hacks did you need to put in place? How can I get a similarly awesome experiance?
Any help much appreciated
