Dutch T Mobile MDA compact : Upgrade gives only error codes

Hi everybody,
Tried the search instrument all night (even google) but there is something wrong with my mda compact or with me (or both)
I followed the instructions by nemesis and others;
Hmm lads, lets all get back on track I have covered this in previous posts
I recently upgraded a colleagues MDA compact (an untouched TMobile 101 build) with the 112_172 build its actually the Orange MDA build from Holland. But very good.
Bear in mind keep your programs that you installed handy as you will need to re-install them .
- Extract the shipped ROM.exe files to a folder for instance MDA112, this will leave 6-8 files in the folder with radio.nb1 etc. This can be done by WinRAR or WinZip
- Connect to ftp site ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/
- Copy the MA_upgrade_NoID file from the ftp site (Tools folder) to the MDA folder on your PC/Laptop
- Plug in USB connector to MDA
- Backup your relevant contacts etc
- Disable ActiveSync USB connections
- Go to bootloader mode Camera-Power-SoftReset All 3 actions together, USB will be displayed , very faint, on the MDA screen
- VERY important: Run the MDA UpgradeNOID.exe file(this will ignore country code errors that you will receive normally) in the MDA folder you created and deposited the extracted files from the ROM image
- wait 20-30 minutes and
- hey presto you have a new ROM on the MDA.
- re-enable ActiveSync USB connections
but i get get the error code 150 over and over. About four roms ive tries wich were mentioned in the fora but :-(
I tried it with renaming the UpgradeNOID.exe file and starting with the original upgradetool but it seems to go wrong all the time..
please help or give me a tip

Does ROM flashing need ActiveSync?

I am having lots of problems getting ActiveSync to work. I can transfer files using Bluetooth.
Do I need a working ActiveSync connection to flash a ROM?
The Hard SPL pages talks about connecting the ActiveSync cable, but does not say why this is necessary.
I have a 4 Gig MicroSD card installed. Can I simply load all the necessary files onto it and go from there?
Perhaps a non-Orange ROM will solve my ActiveSync problem (not the reason I want to flash, but a possible good side effect).

Yes, you need activesync or the vista counterpart.
Try this - go to Settings | Connections | USB to PC | UN-check Enable Advanced network functionality and see if that helps

ActiveSync will tell your Windows XP that the connected device is a Pocket PC and not something else. (Drivers)

ROMs can be flashed with SD card. But the method and the files are different. Usually this is not on a first priority choice for cookers. And I dont remember Hard-SPL through SD. Though, going through a PC is always best as flashing ROMs are quite dangerous and if anything gets stuck in the middle, you shall try again from the PC but not through SD when your device doesn't even boot!

Original(shipped) ROMs are always best. They dont give you much errors. People recover their device using original ROMs in case if they bricked their device using a cooked ROM! Original ROM can be flashed direct from Bootloader screen most of the times but would still require ActiveSync be installed.

Also you could try and put your phone into the bootloader mode by hand (instructions here > http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Resets ) that should work also as your computer uses a different set of drivers when flashing

XDA Zinc reflash help

Hello all!
I have Zinc allways with screen just like this
mars II eboot ver......
h/w version v1.4
******** usb loader ***********
diskonchip g4 128mb
start downloading image...
pleas plug-in usb cable...
I tried soft and hard reset and no effect.
All o2 zinc upgrade software are working with active sync and available os and i can't use them.
I've extracted binary filles from update exe, larger of it i've rename to MarsII_G4.ABI and put it on SD.
But after insterting card and restarting nothing happens
How i can install new rom?

have you downloaded the official rom from seeo2? ... i think u can just plug ur usb via activesync & just execute the official rom exe

I have seem problem with hayova when I try to upgrade new WM6 rom that downloaded form seeO2.
And I try this way

steps
0) run ollydbg and load the rom upgrade file in ollydbg
1) plug the healthy ppc to your desktop via usb activesync v4.5
2) make a text file in your desktop and name it DeviceSpy and set it attribte to read only
2) transfer it to \windows dir in healthy ppc...
4) change the suffix from .txt to .exe by resco explorer or any other file explorer now you have DeviceSpy.exe
check it attribute and be sure its readonly...
5) press f9 and zinc upgrader will run...it suppose to installer ignore the differ
6) tap all ok or next buttons and in dialogbox with update button beware
7) most important section : tap update button and eminently click on ollydbg title bar to make it active window
and watch the activesync icone .it quickly will chang and make activesynk disconnect and you have to hear
a notification tone and ppc will restart...
8) quickly press f12 to break ollydbg process then unplug healthy ppc and plug your zinc and wait for notification tone
9) press f9 and enjoy the new rom....
that healthy ppc is still healthy but your dead zinc now is alive...

But not success.
Now my Zinc is in black screen and red light when I connect to PC.
Can anyone help me ? My Zinc is dead. (

do not use olydb
just when the healthy ppc restarted replace it with zick quickly.

use a dos app instead of text file and rename it to devicespy.exe with readonly

What if I dont have another PPC???
I am going thru the very same problem...
What if I do not have another healthy PPC???
Also, will the settings be the same if I am using a Windows Mobile Device Center rather than a ActiveSync 4.5???

ActiveSync sync problems using USB

Hey all. Sorry if this is in the wrong forumsection, feel free to move it if so.
I am having problems syncronizing my TyTn II with my PC. I am using Activesync 4,5. I read somewhere that this can occur if you change the usb port from the one you were using the first time, and i think that is what i might have done.
Has anyone else had this problem? What can i do to fix it?

Thanks mate, that seems to be a solution to the problem. Only problem now is that as far as i know i dont have a regedit program on my phone. Which one should i use and how to i go about using it? How do i get the program onto my phone when i cant use Activesync?

MrVanx is right, that could help but it will limit your phones capability. However if my method fails that may be your only option short of reflashing the phone with some other ROM.

Thanks for the tip there, sook. I just tried it and it didnt work for me.
I did all the steps except for these:
5. Open Device Manager and select Network Adapters
6. Uninstall the Windows Mobile Device
The thing is i cant find my mobile device anywhere in the device manager or in the network adapters subcategory. Any ideas?
Is there any way to edit the registry on my phone without having to download and install something? Like a built-in program or something..

Download through wlan or copy it to the memory card with pc...I used TascalSoft TRE:

[Q] HTC Touch Pro 2 no connection to PC(WinXP, ACtiveSync) and cannot flash ROM

Hello everybody,
I used ActiveSync on WinXP for a long time, but i installed and reinstalled some Software on my phone - it does not work anymore (cannot set up a data connection to it via USB) I tryed hard reset, disabling the checkbox in activesync about the speed but no success.
So i had a look here

and tryed to flash via the SD card. I downloaded a ROM from HTC site and renamed to RHODIMG.nbh. It says "loading", but after some time "not allow" - So - do i have to do hardSPL before? And if yes, how to do without functioning data connection? is it also possible via SD-Card?

i made the flashing: i had to format the sd card and then one of the offered htc roms worked.
but still no connection to the PC - and the standby consumes as much power as switched on - so full charge in the evening - no use in the night - empty in the morning
What can it be? and for the connection issue - can i debug the USB connection somehow - if something is sendet at all??
