AT&T "Bloat-ware" - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Does anyone know where i can find a listing of the at&t cab files in the windows directory that are installed during the initial start-up? Im just looking to see which cab files install was, such as the mall, or music, for example. Not that i plan on needing them but after searching the internet for a couple days now it would be nice to learn how to bring the phone back to at&t specs. Thanks.
Greg

You can hard reset and not skip the bloat or you can go into the windows directory and sort the files by their type.

But what if you want a couple at&t programs on there?

1. Open up File Explorer
2. Go to the /Windows directory
3. Sort files by type
4. Locate the .cab files
5. Choose which apps you want to install

If you are trying to bring the phone back to ATT spec (to sell or to send it back for support), the best way is to flash using an ATT stock ROM. They are posted on the ROM development forum, here is one on the front page. Since its an official ROM you dont have to mess with HardSPL or anything of that matter, it should just flash the phone.
If you are trying to get the best performance out of your Fuze, I would suggest flashing your phone with a custom ROM.

Unlock help really needed

Hello people,
I bought an Imate SP5 from ebay and its from Orange. Now I need to application unlock it.
I know I know, first thing you will say is search older topics, which I did and its driving me crazy, here are the things I have already tried and nothing worked-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330291
In archive three files.
The names begin with 1,2,3
In this order start all three
Attached Files
File Type: zip HTC.Device.Software.Unlock.zip
http://robertpeloschek.blogspot.com/2006/03/howto-application-unlock-your-windows.html
1) Simply put the *.zip file with the regeditSTG.exe in it with ActiveSync into a folder on your phone (but not onto the memory card).
2) Unzip the file with the *.zip program that comes with your phone.
3) Now start regeditSTG.exe and change the following Registry Keys...
I even downloaded an external registry editor and manged to change the registry values but it still did not unlock the phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352749&highlight=application+unlock
Download this application.
1: Run program htcunlock cvs on PC
2: Find program that is created on your phone on the startmenu in on device
3: Run exe and cross fingers (It changes settings in registry, wait for the Smiley!)
4: Powerdown and Powerup!
And any other SPV Unlock applications. But they all fail since its pretty tightly locked. I can't run any third party applications.
I think the only thing left is maybe do a ROM update but I have no idea which one to use and how to go about doing it.
Please advise me on what I can do or send me in the right direction. I will be really grateful!
Thanks.
OK, I don't know what was it, but I tried running SPV Services and it ran successfully and let me set the SuperCID and I was able to update the ROM.
So I guess one of those earlier methods did work!
Thanks anyway and just want to say that I really appreciate the members of the community that work so hard to make our phones much better and more useful.
Here is a big vote of THANKS for you guys!

nuePower/nueBattery

ok im kind of a newb still when it comes to HTC/wm and i've search around and cant find the answer.... anyways i've been tryin to find out how to install these for my HTC TD2
the link to it is - http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/page/nuePowernueBattery.aspx
any help would be appreciated tyvm XD
It seems to me that file inside archive should be renamed to battdrvr.dll and placed into Windows folder replacing original one. But I don’t want to experiment with my device.
that cant be the only thing i have to do right?
It’s pretty weird to make something then have no installation instructions because I have no idea how to install it correctly >.<
It says on the site that there are 2 one for CDMA and one for GSM phones so I downloaded the GSM one since my provider is rogers = GSM/3G which came with a dll but is that all I need for the 1% increment and the FastCharge mode? Do I need to install the nuePowerCPL? And I tried installing the cab but nothing appeared so I downloaded the OEM package and dragged it into program files but that didn’t do anything either so I’m very confused.
anyone?
You have to put .dll in windows directory (and to be sure in app's directory) and install CPL (cab version, OEM is for ROM cooks).
theres also a batt dll in that folder i forgot the name but its not the same as the nuebattery one do i replace that one with the nuebattery dll or just copy it in?

How to downgrade with official desktop updater!?

Hey,
I tried to pot my Treo back to WM6 from Vodafone with the original updater, but it keeps telling me that my device is not supported because of language issues (Right now there is WM6.1 working on it in english and I need to flash the German WM6). when I open the installer with WINRAR I can see a couple of *.nbh files (cheeimg.nbh and cheeimg_fw.nbh). Is it eventually possible to just take one of them and flash it? or do they anyway require to have a preinstalled stock ROM to update with them? And why are there so many other files in, when i usually actually just need one nbh file as a rom?
Thanks for helping me understand my phone
bump
i d like to know that aswell. did you fixed the issue by now?
If you want to use the official updater you need to modify the payloads.xml file.
You can find it by opening the official updater, but don't start the upgrade. Opening the updater will extract a bunch of files to your TEMP folder. The payloads.xml file will be in one of the subfolders. The folder is called something random so you'll have to seach for it, but you'll see a bunch of Palm icons in it so you'll know you're there.
You can edit the payloads.xml file with any text editor. Notepad works fine.
If you are changing carriers as part of the update, you will probably need to change the carrier code to the one matching the currently installed ROM. This is AT&T, for example.
Code:
<carrier_codes>CNG,ATT</carrier_codes>
I think Vodofone is VF, but you'll have to do some searching to confirm that.
Then you need to change the revision range to allow the downgrade.
Code:
<revision_range>
<low>1.13</low>
<high>3.00</high>
</revision_range>
Save it when you are done, and then start the updater. It should work. If not, there are plenty of posts here about downgrading ROM's, so search around until you find something that works for you.
And yes, you can extract the ROM's from a desktop updater and flash using the SD card method, assuming of course you have successfully HardSPL'd your phone. You need the CHEEIMG_FW.nbh file, but must rename it to CHEEIMG.nbh before putting it on the SD card.
You don't need to Hard-SPL in order to flash official Palm WM ROMs from a MiniSD.

[Q] Better guidelines for flashing vox

im a noob so theres no way ill manage to flash a vox phone by just reading wiki so help me out here pls.
1.i understand that i need to cid unlock my phone. but first of all i have to connect the activesync. activesync comes in varity or can i just download one from any site, do i need drivers for the phone?.
2.then i need an ApplicationUnlock.exe-file from a folder. OK so i run the exe file from my computer or do i send to the phone trough activesync and then run from there. do i have to put the folder with the exe file in the phone och the file is just enough. where in the phone should i put the folder or file.
3. what will the screen show so i know im doing the right thing here.
4. after that i should have a VOX_USPL folder with a spl_116_jockyw.bat file that i need to execute. so what do i do with this folder where do i put it, i mean should i execute it from my computer or phone?
5.so if i make to this point i should ok right? btw any reboots along the way i should be aware of? am i forgetting something more steps maybe?
6.so then i need a cooked rom right? like a folder with a bunch o files right? one of this files should be a flash.exe-file. so do i execute it from the folder in my computer while the phone is conected via activesync or do i put folder in somewhere in the phone and execute it from there. what do i do with the other files in the folder?
all this questions makes me confused about if i should or not. i just want to update the phone to 6.1 or higher, is there any official rom update that will go smoother?
The sequence of actions is a little different than you stated.
You need to application unlock the device as it is to allow subsequent actions to succeed.
You must temporarily (or permanently aka "Hard-SPL") put a bootloader on the device that ignores the CID lock. The device is NOT CID unlocked afterwards, but the "ignorant" SPL allows you to flash a cooked ROM nevertheless
Once the above is understood, reading the WIKI should give you the rest of procedures.
hi thanks so much for clearing that out, i think i kind of understand the purpose.
but as you see the wiki left me with so many specific questions regarding to all the necessery steps. if anyone can make or point me to a guide for dummies like me without skipping things that leaves me with questions like the above i would be most greatfull

[Q] Load Programs?

Ok, new to all this. I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 CDMA. I flashed to an Energy Rom, looks great. Now... How do I load other software... games and such? I have looked around here, thinking it would be part of the first post, I was wrong. Perhaps this site is too advanced for that? If so, point me to a newbee site and off I shall ride. Thanks in advance for your help. This phone is awesome, and the Energy rom I loaded, looks sweet.

well. there is the microsoft marketplace. or .cab files.
.cab file instructions...
one. download application's .cab file. suggested list of applications can be found here.
two. move the .cab onto your phone's storage card.
three. on your phone, navigate to the .cab file with file explorer, or other like program.
four. open .cab file.
five. choose installation location. device or storage card.
six. select install.
seven. enjoy.
and i havent ever used marketplace before...
i always find the .cab file.
sh4d0w86.
Not to make fun, but it is pretty surprising the you are able to unlock the phone and reflash the OS, but can't install software.
If you search this site, Microsoft Marketplace, or just do a Google for "Windows Mobile freeware", you'll find many thousands of apps. Find the app you want, copy or download the .CAB file to the TP2, and execute it.
For example, Google "Google Mobile Maps", download the Windows Mobile .CAB file, and run it.
Thanks
Well, the instructions to flash a phone are detailed and many. One problem I had was I was dropping the 7zip file onto the phone. Also, I could not unzip the file with the extension of 7z because I did not have the correct unzip manager. Another issue was I was trying to Sync the programs to the phone. Thanks for clearing it up. Is there a logical place to put them on the phone to make them run fast? Thanks in advance.

Installing to main (internal) memory is much faster than installing to the SD (external) memory. Installing large programs to the SD card is the general rule of thumb for obvious reasons. It's up to you where you prefer to install them.
If you mean where should you put the actual *.cab files, then you could always delete them once they've been installed. You don't need them again unless you're going to flash constantly. It's always good to back them up, so storing them on your PC or the SD card would be preferable.
Thanks a bunch!
well, check out this thread..........
cabs just load on the phone and run like any program, just find the file and click it. exe's need to run from windows (regular computer) and install through activesync.

Excellent Thread!!!!!!!! I too made all those mistake and diddn't know how to load .cab files. This is my first foray into modding phones so this thread was quite informative.
