Hi Touch pro user,
Will be getting my touch pro soon. Any program to share to check for dead pixels?
What is the standard number of dead pixel then i can request to change a new set?
Thanks!
Is that possible? That's almost like asking the phone to check for flaws in your case. Dead pixels are a hardware issue not usually a software issue.
I think he asks for a programm that shows colored screens, so that he can visually check if all pixels work.
Maybe some single-color pictures would do the job, viewed fullscreen in HTC Album. Just one black, white, red, green, blue one in 600x800 each

Oo any reason to use that res ? TP is 480x640 so would be enough, no ?

Sure 480x640 is enough, I was already thinking about another topic while typing
I made a small utility that displays the colors enumerated by stan23.
To run the program, .Net Compact Framework 3.5 has to be installed on the device.
I know this is an old post but I think I just spotted one dead pixel on my unit :-( its a very tiny pixel but still, I was able to notice it.. damrnit! You think I can return this unit?

It is a success, however it is a screen replacement of zpad not gtab, sorry for that since i thought the two is the same last time i post this, but they are very similar in hardware,so you maybe still want to see this

thanks for paying attention and i am not the person who did this
but they still do not have good ways to get the screen
on the original thread Bigideas also said that ten point multitouch IC replacement and tweaking is also on the way.

True but not available as of yet. Once it is I will certainly be in line for one of these. If the specs are correct, that just puts the gtab over any other tablet on the market.
Is the file below your first post the re-hash that big idea made? Because I can't make heads or tails of the chinese site.

Well if you bother to go to the site he linked, then you can see that google will translate it for you, but which button do you press to download the file?
The one I thought it would be asks for a user name and password.
Which takes me back to my ORIGINAL question, is the file the OP linked the file needed to change the resolution on the g tab if a new higher resolution screen is installed?
Sorry for not response. Time is different i went to sleep. If you visit the orginal site you will find a link which leads to exactly the same datasheet i gave in attachment here. no rom available since big ideas did not give. As she said she had borrowed the screen from a friend and get it work with a selfcompiled rom. but drop it to the ground and break it later. She asked for another one but only got only the datasheet of the screen
Attachment is a pdf so please extract it and read it. It is not something to change the res in rom.

I downloaded the pdf file of the original thread by big ideas and put it in my attachment.the hash do not meet the hash in the file name.
If you search LP101WH2 TLA2 on alibaba.com, there are many suppliers. Don't know whether its thickness fits though.
quick update now. in the original thread bigideas said she just order 5 of this kind of screens via a friend in HK. SO this thread is closed and we will wait, they may come to xda to tell the result themself.. thanks for paying attention.
i'm just seeing a slight issue here. The G-tablet's 1024x600 screen is a 16:10 display, whereas 1366x768 is 16:9.
Are the pixels on the high-res display non-square, and if so, is there any correction being done somewhere along the line?
EDIT; i checked your specs and nope, they're perfectly square. The g-tablet on the other hand DOES have non-square pixels and a physical aspect ratio close to 16:9.
This panel will be magnificent in the g-tablet

Maybe that can be a issue. but we will wait until bigideas post picture or video of the detail of screen replacement and the final effect and then make the decision wether or not it improves things and then i will follow them to buy the screen. there will be the need to flash into the rom bigideas has finished specially for the screen ,which may solve the problem of ratio, the rom is not posted now . the people on ezpad think the screen can give a better experience with the coming honeycomb which maybe still a little faraway so we pay a lot of attention to the thing. chenglu and bigideas are the legend of ezpad and i am only a ordinary user who loved xda and ezpad and wants to help.
sounds a lot like the new screen of A10. I believe they are the same.

lets hope the screen fits and works with our tablet. If we had a good screen, this thing would be perfect

I emailed the sales department for recomendations ans confirmation on fit for the G tab...of course i'm clueless on what firmware/software mods would be needed. Just ordered mine from amazon so obviously I need to have a plan to gut the poor thing before it shows up

Thickness is the priority when you choose your screen, most laptop screens are 5.2mm and the original screen is 3.6mm, our guys tried something made by lg and plugin with no change of software and it is thicker and only backlight on and nothing show up on the screen at all, when you are going to change the res i guess there are adjustment in something called timesequence or timegraph, you need to change things in driver in the rom,the thing you can see from a datasheet,i do not have experience with those things so my guess may be wrong. i can not tell you whether your screen will work or not, you can have a try if you like. i am also only a ordinary user who are waiting for the result, but i think this is the most promising attempt ever because bigideas seems to be capable of doing such adjustments.this is not yet a fit since no promised result and no detail pictures is released, you do not need to make your decision based on the information above whether you try your own screen or not
so let me see if i get this right?
an order has been placed for 5 screens that should "just work" upon install. correct?
they should have better viewing angles, higher res AND correct thickness?

If I'm reading this right, there has to be a ROM that addresses the screen resolution. It's not plug and play, but in theory it should work.
Hi,
I have found tons of topics about changing the screens density but thats not what is mean, I want to change the resolution, I want to lower it, and I want th density to stay the same, so that not my full screen is used anymore. For example: if I have a screen of 100 by 100 pixels, I want to change it th 100 by 50 pixels so that half of my screen is used, and the other half is just black. Is that possible?
Thank you
I have not heard about anything what could help you.
But that is very interesting problem, I wonder what do you need it for. Can you please write some background?

I need it because I want to make an android device that looks like a nokia 3310, but that phone only has a 2 inch screen. There is an android device with a 2 inch touchscreen but thats 200 dollars, while a have an old android phone lying here that would be perfect if i could make it use only half the screen. the rest of the screen would then be going under the keyboard.
I've lost my touch

My touch sensor went dead out of the blue on only a quarter inch of the right side, so i need to "squish" the screen over to be able to use what would normally be on that section of the screen.
Bump for yhus topic, my touch sensor also dead at both side, i would like to find a way to squeeze everything to middle so i can use is without the dead sensor part.
Hey all. Thought I had an old account here from my HTC Hero days, but can't seem to remember the details if I did. ANYWAY...
I recently purchased a Nexus 5 from eBay, as an upgrade over my Nexus 4. Device was brand new and no issues at all with it (admittedly I haven't used it a huge amount yet), and the seller was excellent. However, I was messing earlier with some settings and my homescreens and I noticed a small white(?) like on my screen. I removed the temporary screen protector thinking it was that, but it stayed.
I've tested it on a few colours and it seems worse on anything lighter, with grey making it most visible. I've attached some photos, that aren't the best but should hopefully give you an idea of what it looks like. I'm hoping someone will be able to identify what it actually is and if there are any fixes? While I'd rather not have to go through the fuss of getting a replacement (hopefully I can still do that with Google despite buying through eBay?), I will if necessary.
So, yeah. Basically what can I do to fix it? If I can't do anything how do I go about getting a replacement from Google? I know it's only a minor thing but it'll irritate me more time passes. I can provide more information if anyone needs it.
Many thanks!
Looks like a dead pixel. If I remember correctly, there are some apps in the Play Store that "fixes" dead pixels. I can't post any links, but do a quick search in the Play Store and a few options will pop up. I think I used "Dead Pixel Detect and Fix". Hopefully that fixes your problem, since replacing the screen will be expensive since the glass is fused with the screen. Also, I believe that I read somewhere that LG only has a warranty for the original purchaser of the device.

Dead pixels can`t be fixed as it is a hardware issue (display), sometimes pixels don`t unlock and get stuck and then you can try such app as you suggested. Display Tester is a excellent display test and `fix` app.

Thanks to both of you. If it were a dead pixel surely it would be black and not white as it is? Anyone able to confirm which of the two they think it is?
Not sure if it's my imagination but it seems to have a slightly different tint to the right of it depending on the colour surrounding it.

Depending on the panel, a dead pixel is either white or black. If it's stuck, it's usually a color. I had stuck pixels on my Droid X before and it was red and white. That was fixed with the app. But when I had a group of dead pixels, they were all white and couldn't be fixed like gee2012 said. I was confused with my terminology
I have a yellow band at the bottom of my screen and one spot around 1 inch at the top.
How did it come there ? Is there an app that can give this issue ? (I have a screen protector:maybe the cause?)
edit: it's a burn-in issue.
Maybe the screen has burned-in (amoled) ? Seems not rom related.
It can very well be a screen issue.. However if it is a burn in issue, then switch to white background and confirm.. There's apps available on the play store that might help reduce burn ins. This is a problem that plagues most of the AMOLED screens..

thanks! Now I actually saw three signs from icoyote, an app I sometimes used for hours, so it's a burn-in problem. Which tools should I use (found one app) ? Does the ips screen have the same issues (using the oneplus one as a second phone for work) ?

IPS have the standard RGB matrix when it comes to each pixel, but the AMOLEDs use an pentile matrix, i.e. they share blue pixels per red and green (you can read up more on it or check Erica's channel on youtube). Because of this, the blue pixels die out faster hence giving the burned effect. This happens when the screen is on for long and on the same app or notification bar etc. The burn in tool is supposed to help, but haven't had the problem so can't really vouch for it. I'm attaching a few links which might be useful for you. :fingers-crossed:
Hope I could be of some help to you.

Hi all,
i got a problem with my display.
The brightness/illumination on display when displaying content with white background is from what I see not correct.
A certain part in the middle of my display is clearly more illuminated then the rest. But only when showing the color white.
I did the diagnosis test in the menus and here it occurred again.
Does anybody have the same issue?
Is this a display problem so I have to change my phone? Or is this just a calibration problem?
Thanks in advance
I have the same problem on my z5 Dual. White backgrounds and the screen brightness increases. Not sure why this is.

You got a bright patch in the middle too - interesting. Maybe you could take this picture again vertically (without tilt & finger smudges) in a dark room ? I never saw 100% uniform white on any LCD & Amoled mobile screen, but yours don't look acceptable.

But this is definitely a defect screen. The bright patch in the middle is really annoying when scrolling
I returned mine today, the bright patch in the center together with all other issues was just too much. Got an S6 Edge+ instead, same weight but much larger and much better looking screen.

I'm in Singapore and on my second Z5 and there is still this unevenness in the backlight. The first set was more obvious and in the middle which was really irritating. This second one has two minor spots but they sort of form a line to the middle of the screen. It's kind of disappointing that the QC level of this product is so ****ty. Two straight out of shrink-wrapped boxes!
They are also from two revisions; the tray is different on both of mine... on the first set it was stupid with the microsim and sd slot on opposite sides meaning you had to slide one in half way to keep the sim card in before putting in the SD card. The second one made more sense with both the sim card and sd card on the same side.
I'm still pondering if I should bring it down to the telco to make another change...sigh.
guys my z5 had display but no backlight, I have bypassed the "V" and "A" both fuses still theres no backlight can anyone help?
