Hello everyone,
I tried to update the ROM, using imate website. I downloaded the latest version available in their website, but the phone turned off in the middle of the update process, and showed USB V1.0 on the screen.
Need Help !!!
another thing, When I soft rest the device it shows a screen with Serial ( V1.0 ).. and nothing happens... I don't see any progress !
then, and in order to turn on the device again, I have to take off the back cover and place it again and then press on the power button. after that, when I start the device, it goes all the way with a loading process until it shuts off by itself. for no reason. any ideas what's going on ?
one more info. I tried to hard reset the device but it still shows Serial V1.0, and USB V1.0 if the phone was connected to PC.

try to run update again, you shouldn't have any problems with it.

Hello all,
Yesterday I tried to update my MDA Compact to qtek 1.06 and I saw to executables in the package:
getdevice.exe and enterbl.exe
I runned getdevice.exe for getting the device data for in the change.bat. That went oke, but out of curiosity I had to run the enterbl.exe, which made me go to the boot loader immediately. And now I'm stuck at the boot loader!
Whatever I do it won't boot to WME anymore! Soft reset, pressing the camera+power+reset, everytime it goes to the "Serial V1.00"screen.
When I remove and put back the backcover of the device (where the battery and sim are) it will go off and after a press on the power button it will boot to WME. But when I manually reset the device or when it automaticaaly reset itself after installing the ExROM tools, it goes back to the boot loader (Serial - V1.00) screen!
I even dumped the ROM with mmty to the SD card and flashed the device with that ROM again, but after it says Checksum is OK and I press reset it just goes straight to bootloader again.
I'm really out of clues of what to do. Can someone please help?
EDIT: When removing and putting back the backcover I can reset the device and it will boot back to WME so I can use it. But still when I softreset (with button or through software) it goes to boot loader. :-(
So using the backcover as a reset button is possible and does work, but it isn't very handy/usefull off course.

Yes, you are still in bootloader mode and it's actually getting ready for you to flash.
Donno which part of it goes wrong, mine also have the same issue. What you need to do now is to restart your desktop pc / laptop (from the info I gathered from the forum). Then run that update thing again. This time, the same screen will appear saying it's trying to get the device data. Difference is, this time you no longer see the current version of ROM (as the Magician is in bootloader mode now). And you will see it show you the ROM that you going to upgrade to. Just follow the instruction, everything is straight forward. Hope this help.

It is working now, here is what I did (as told by cyberjaya):
- Rebooted my laptop
- Connected the MDA to the laptop
- Started the upgrade program of the qtek 1.06 ROM
- It didn't found my version, but it would let me update it to 1.06
- Flashing....(15 minutes is a LOOOONG time if you have to wait )
I did reset it a few times and it just boots normally!

Am using laptop to flash also. Likely it's the USB hub thing (which listed in the "hardware devices" list). Read it somewhere, it's not recommended to flash using USB hub. Enjoy your new ROM!! .

I had a thought:
Isn't this the way to do a ROM upgrade without editing the ROM files?
Because it can't detect a different ROM and it will do the upgrade...
Or am I missing something?

I got the upgrade from this site at ftp://xda:[email protected]_022021_Dopod_PDAMobizEdition_v101.zip
I followed the procedure given in the website given above. After I upgraded successfully everything on the phone was wiped out. Since there was no instruction to backup the files, I did not do it. Now all that I see is a four colored screen saying RUU in the top right corner, IPL 2.09 in the top left corner and SPL 2.09 below it.
Does anyone know how to get my phone working again? Do I have to install all the applications including windows mobile 5.0?
If yes, please tell me where to get the softwares for the Qtek S200 and info on how to install it.

If you are new at this ROM updating stuff, you should use official release by the OEM from their site. Those will warn you about full battery and the need to backup your data.
Now to your problem:
You do not need to reinstall WM5 as it is part of ROM. The screen you are seeing is the bootloader. You should soft reset using the reset hole (at the bottom of the device).
If you still don't get in to windows, you should try reflashing with an official ROM.

Thanks for the help. I tried the soft update. It didnt work. When I checked the Qteck S200 folder from my PC I dont see any folders. It just shows up blank. Would that be an issue? Where can I get the official download of the Qtek S200 rom update? Does that bring back all the folders and programs. Sorry to be bothering you with all my questions. I am new to the pocket pc.
It's no bother, but you might be in over your head.
1) The official ROM update should be available on the QTEK site.
2) Not 'soft update' - soft reset, it doesn't update anything, it just reboots the device. Strange that it still boots to bootloader. Are you sure no buttons are pressed while the device boots?
3) You won't see anything on your PC until the device is synchronized. For that it has to boot up properly, and it seems to be stuck in bootloader.
4) If you manage to download and flash the official ROM your problem should be solved, if not you may have to send your device to the lab for repairs.

I have had a similar issue I think...
When the ROM upgrade ahs finished sometimes you need to remove the cable before the software resets (there is a small note on the screen to this effect). For some reason this ballses up the restart.
As levenum said - always best to download the ROM from the official website, which should provide an adobe instruction sheet too.

I tried both the soft reset and hard reset. When I did the hard reset, I got the message "Press Send to restore factory default, Other keys to quit". I pressed the send button. I get Format FAT partition. etc. When I powerup, I get the "Qtek" screen and then it goes to the bootloader screen and it gets stuck there. Any ideas??

Have you removed the cable after the reboot?!
Yes, I did remove the cable. I also tried to reflash using the official ROM update. When I run the exe file, all that happens is that a window opens and then closes. Nothing happens after that.

The only time I have encountered this problem (and I have had XDA 1, II, IIi, IIs and an EXEC) is when something has been running or trying to run on the PDA as the upgrade has gone through.
If, as you say, once the download has completed you have removed the USB cable (before the reset), and no buttons are currently pressed then I do not know why the ROM isn't re-booting.
My only remaining advise would be to contact the vendor of the device and show them the problem you are having.

I had the same issue when trying to upgrade my ROM. For some reason I were not able to use any pdamobiz ROM. I successfully switched from FR to EN using that ROM :

I have Wizard G3 with TNT 5 Touch Flow and tried to update radio T-mobile UK 2.19 Radio Only. update went OK but now on loading I see HTC boot screen then it moves to TNT 5.0 screen and then fades in two minutes and starts back with HTC boot screen. It then circulates like that for ever without passing to the Today screen. On connection with PC for new update with any rom it shows: Error (260) update error. What can be done?

it's a case of bad flash,did anything during flash happened like lose usb connectivity,pc crashed,battery discharged or something like unusual ?
Try to soft reset and see if it works,otherwise you'll have to reflash to official carrier's rom in boodloader mode,
1. Disconnect your phone from the usb cable,shut down any firewall,disable any Anti virus,Reboot your PC.
2. On your Desktop PC, open Microsoft ActiveSync, then go to File >Connection Settings >Remove the Selection from “Allow USB Connection with this desktop computer”
3. On your PC Open windows Task Manager...>Tab Processes...>wescomm.exe...>End process
4. Power off the phone completely (Not stand-by,shut off completely),or you may take the battery out for few seconds
5. Make sure your phone is not Connected to the PC via USB cable and remove the dummy Sdcard or mini-Sd card
6. Get your phone into Bootloader mode (Multicolor screen) by pressing camera button + Power on button
7. Reconnect your phone to the Desktop PC using the USB Cradle and the Charger MUST be Connected to the Cradle (Be sure that your battery is charged over 70%)
8. "USB"will appear on the bottom of the screen of the Bootloader (Multicolor screen)
9. Run the Upgrade again and it will work fine without any problems.
10.Never use Bluetooth sync for the Upgrade
While upgrading, the ActiveSync program will not go on, however the upgrade is running.Please be patient when you're flashing your device, even if 98%. It can wait a little bit, 5 ~ 7 minutes.
Don't cancell the flash or get the phone off the usb cable till it confirms "Congratulations" or stops with an Error!!!

Hi, this is the first time i saw a Paki guy on this web. I know there is alot of talent in IT profession in Pakistan. Anyway its good to see u here and i got a relief that with the help of a senior member like you i can get my phone work again.
To cut the chase, I have X01HT by Softbank Japan. It is Herms200 by HTC Japanese WM5 ROM. I have installed Asukal's English MUI and it was working fine for me. Now i'm planning to visit Pakistan this month so i though to unlock the sim and i used Prof v3a to unlock. I've successfully unlocked the sim and i guess CID also. When i use some other carrier's sim, i can receive the calls but cant make the calls out coz Softbank rom has a security which comes at screen and ask for password and dont let me do anything on the PDA. After studying alot on this forum i figured that i need to change the rom to get rid of that password message. i used the Olipro's Hard SPL and got bootloader 2.10 Olipro. I checked the other necessary stuff and when satisfied i started rom update. I end up with the same message of Error 260. Now my phone has no OS and it starts at bootloader. i tried everything possible like i make sure to remove all firewalls on my PC, used all the versions of Activesync and everything possible that i could. I trust that there is nothing wrong with the ROM etc but it is with connection.
Now if i update to the original ROM, i'm afraid that it will also upgrade my Bootloader and could never be able to flash english rom. I'm really depressed for the last three days and loosing sleep as well. I trust that you or any other senior member can help me with this.

8125 rom update
i have tried to do a rom update on my 8125 g4. i recently purchased it off ebay and i have two problems. the reason i want to update it is because when i try to enable the wifi my device freezes. the other problem is that i can not seem to get the phone into boot loader mode. i have tried :
-turning the phone off and holding the camera button as i turn it on.
-holding the camera button and pluging it in to a usb port.
- using wizard service tool to enter boot loader mode.
after each of these different attempts i had to either remove the battery for 3 secs or hold the reset button for a few seconds before i can turn it back on. the phone still turns and just i can not use the wifi

Some years ago, I have flashed my polaris from o2. i then got myself an iphone and some new computers (using vista now instead of xp), so that I do not have any of the old files that I used back then to flash the phone. my father was using the xda for quite a while now. however, suddenly the device is not working any more: if you turn it on, the boot screen will appear, but then it is stuck and nothing is happening (even no rom info in the lower right corner). also a hard reset doesn't help to overcome this problem.
what I am trying now is to flash it, because I guess (and hope) that this might help. But, to be honest, I completely forgot how this works. I downloaded an original rom from this website today, but I cannot flash it to the device (stuck at 0%, getting an communication problem error). If I turn on the phone with camera button pressed down, the tricolor-screen appears reading POLA200, SPL-3.13.0000, CPLD-2. what am I doing wrong? your help is greatly appreciated.
Try flashing the rom from the tricolour-screen just make sure at the bottom of the tricolour-screen it say's usb not serial.
You will only be able to flash official roms as you don't have a stock spl not hard-spl.

damn, it did not work. I mean, the flashing succeeded, but the problem still persists: if I start the device, the start-screen appears, but that's it - nothing happens afterwards, and after some seconds, the device turns itself off again.
what could that be?
Could be the battery if the device turns itself off,try booting with the charger or usb still in.Or flash hard spl and try a different rom.

You can try this:
1. Stop ActiveSync
2. Open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete) on your PC and
stop these two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
3. Plug in your device via USB. Your computer should be asking install a driver. Install and continue.
4. Now Run mtty and choose USB in 'PORT'
4. type "set 16 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
5. type "task 8" to get your device formatted.
6. Now unplug your device and manually reset it.

Does anyone know how to recover and unbrick a Samsung Ace from a bad flash. My friend tried to upgrade to WM 6.1 using the official upgrade available from samsungusa.com.
All went well, so he says, and the device reset. Instead of loading up it became stuck on a bootloader screen which dispays the samsung logo and www.samsungusa.com.
All attempts to hard reset:
1. hold soft keys
2. press power button
3. press left soft key for clean boot.
have proved futile.
when it is connected to the USB cable it does not recognize the device.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I do not think that a call to Sprint Help center will help so I will have to find a community assisted solution.
first advice: after a flash, the initial boot takes very long compared to the normal boot - so let the device sit for 5-10 minutes after switch on, leave the room, have a coffee and wait.
Not sure about the upgrade process for Samsung, but the normal sequence is anyway that the device enters the bootloader when loading the new software.
So as long as you have the bootloader (are you sure it is the bootoloader and not some splashscreen?) nothing is really "bricked".
First make sure you put the device in bootloader mode, then you can just retry the flash with the device connected via USB sitting in boot loader. AS will not find it in this mode, but the flash program should after a while and then continue with the flashing.

But first my apologies for my newbie-ness. I did leave the room, went to be, got up and still no change. I am attaching a pic of what I see on the phone. It seems to be the splashscreen.
I am still able to access the hard reset screen using the procedure as shown in the original post, but this takes me nowhere either. Doing a hard reset takes me back to the logo screen with text : "Clean boot mode" included. this also sits for hours.

Sorry, cannot help any further here as I do not have this device. If the flash process from the PC does not recognize the connected device in this mode, try to disable USB connections in AS and retry flashing. Normally the flash-SW on the PC will terminate AS so this is not required - but just in case...
