Hi, I got my Qtek S200 aka Imate Jamin yesterday and I tried to do a ROM upgrade. I followed the instructions given in the website http://kimpeacocke.blogspot.com/2006/06/how-to-perform-rom-upgrade-on-your-i.html
I got the upgrade from this site at ftp://xda:[email protected]_022021_Dopod_PDAMobizEdition_v101.zip
I followed the procedure given in the website given above. After I upgraded successfully everything on the phone was wiped out. Since there was no instruction to backup the files, I did not do it. Now all that I see is a four colored screen saying RUU in the top right corner, IPL 2.09 in the top left corner and SPL 2.09 below it.
Does anyone know how to get my phone working again? Do I have to install all the applications including windows mobile 5.0?
If yes, please tell me where to get the softwares for the Qtek S200 and info on how to install it.

Hi julian_me.
If you are new at this ROM updating stuff, you should use official release by the OEM from their site. Those will warn you about full battery and the need to backup your data.
Now to your problem:
You do not need to reinstall WM5 as it is part of ROM. The screen you are seeing is the bootloader. You should soft reset using the reset hole (at the bottom of the device).
If you still don't get in to windows, you should try reflashing with an official ROM.

Thanks for the help. I tried the soft update. It didnt work. When I checked the Qteck S200 folder from my PC I dont see any folders. It just shows up blank. Would that be an issue? Where can I get the official download of the Qtek S200 rom update? Does that bring back all the folders and programs. Sorry to be bothering you with all my questions. I am new to the pocket pc.
It's no bother, but you might be in over your head.
1) The official ROM update should be available on the QTEK site.
2) Not 'soft update' - soft reset, it doesn't update anything, it just reboots the device. Strange that it still boots to bootloader. Are you sure no buttons are pressed while the device boots?
3) You won't see anything on your PC until the device is synchronized. For that it has to boot up properly, and it seems to be stuck in bootloader.
4) If you manage to download and flash the official ROM your problem should be solved, if not you may have to send your device to the lab for repairs.

I have had a similar issue I think...
When the ROM upgrade ahs finished sometimes you need to remove the cable before the software resets (there is a small note on the screen to this effect). For some reason this ballses up the restart.
As levenum said - always best to download the ROM from the official website, which should provide an adobe instruction sheet too.

I tried both the soft reset and hard reset. When I did the hard reset, I got the message "Press Send to restore factory default, Other keys to quit". I pressed the send button. I get Format FAT partition. etc. When I powerup, I get the "Qtek" screen and then it goes to the bootloader screen and it gets stuck there. Any ideas??

Have you removed the cable after the reboot?!
Yes, I did remove the cable. I also tried to reflash using the official ROM update. When I run the exe file, all that happens is that a window opens and then closes. Nothing happens after that.

The only time I have encountered this problem (and I have had XDA 1, II, IIi, IIs and an EXEC) is when something has been running or trying to run on the PDA as the upgrade has gone through.
If, as you say, once the download has completed you have removed the USB cable (before the reset), and no buttons are currently pressed then I do not know why the ROM isn't re-booting.
My only remaining advise would be to contact the vendor of the device and show them the problem you are having.

I had the same issue when trying to upgrade my ROM. For some reason I were not able to use any pdamobiz ROM. I successfully switched from FR to EN using that ROM :

Now it just works fine !

Hello all,
Yesterday I tried to update my MDA Compact to qtek 1.06 and I saw to executables in the package:
getdevice.exe and enterbl.exe
I runned getdevice.exe for getting the device data for in the change.bat. That went oke, but out of curiosity I had to run the enterbl.exe, which made me go to the boot loader immediately. And now I'm stuck at the boot loader!
Whatever I do it won't boot to WME anymore! Soft reset, pressing the camera+power+reset, everytime it goes to the "Serial V1.00"screen.
When I remove and put back the backcover of the device (where the battery and sim are) it will go off and after a press on the power button it will boot to WME. But when I manually reset the device or when it automaticaaly reset itself after installing the ExROM tools, it goes back to the boot loader (Serial - V1.00) screen!
I even dumped the ROM with mmty to the SD card and flashed the device with that ROM again, but after it says Checksum is OK and I press reset it just goes straight to bootloader again.
I'm really out of clues of what to do. Can someone please help?
EDIT: When removing and putting back the backcover I can reset the device and it will boot back to WME so I can use it. But still when I softreset (with button or through software) it goes to boot loader. :-(
So using the backcover as a reset button is possible and does work, but it isn't very handy/usefull off course.

Yes, you are still in bootloader mode and it's actually getting ready for you to flash.
Donno which part of it goes wrong, mine also have the same issue. What you need to do now is to restart your desktop pc / laptop (from the info I gathered from the forum). Then run that update thing again. This time, the same screen will appear saying it's trying to get the device data. Difference is, this time you no longer see the current version of ROM (as the Magician is in bootloader mode now). And you will see it show you the ROM that you going to upgrade to. Just follow the instruction, everything is straight forward. Hope this help.

It is working now, here is what I did (as told by cyberjaya):
- Rebooted my laptop
- Connected the MDA to the laptop
- Started the upgrade program of the qtek 1.06 ROM
- It didn't found my version, but it would let me update it to 1.06
- Flashing....(15 minutes is a LOOOONG time if you have to wait )
I did reset it a few times and it just boots normally!

Am using laptop to flash also. Likely it's the USB hub thing (which listed in the "hardware devices" list). Read it somewhere, it's not recommended to flash using USB hub. Enjoy your new ROM!! .

Isn't this the way to do a ROM upgrade without editing the ROM files?
Because it can't detect a different ROM and it will do the upgrade...

I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with this problem:
I tried to update the ROM on my O2 XDA II Mini (purchased in Australia). I downloaded the Mini ROM (May2005) from the SeeO2.com website.
When I was flashing the ROM, the process failed on Stage 1 (the Radio upgrade). It asked me to reset the phone and run it again. I ran the ROM upgrade again and it succeeded.
Upon reset of the Mini, On the Splash screen, it displayed "NO GSM". The PDA worked OK, its just that the phone function didn't.
I tried re-flashing the ROM, but encountered the Wrong Country ID error.
After researching on here, I extracted out the executable files from ROM upgrade .exe file and then downloaded the MAUpdate.exe (or something like that) from here, I started the Mini into the Bootloader mode and ran the upgrade executable. On the screen it showed the current radio version as blank.
When proceeding to flash the radio, it would hang on 0% and eventually fail.
Can anyone help?? I just want to get it working, even at the factory ROM level so I don't need to send it away for repair

I've now got another problem.
I can't turn the XDA on at all.
When I connect it to my computer via USB, the LED comes on RED.
I can't turn it on using any of the buttons, even the soft reset, hard reset or bootloader key combinations.

LED RED means battery not exist or dead
Try to take off battery, and put it back again.
Yeah, thanks. After leaving it connected via usb for a few minutes, the LED went from Red to Orange, and I could turn it on again.
In my testing to get the Radio Stack reloaded, I took out the Radio NBF file and the other two stages of the ROM upgrade process completed successfully. When run in isolation, the Radio upgrade process still fails..

all of a sudden my o2 XDAII mini started loading with "no GSM"
and i check my device information and there is no radio version
so when i try and update, well i guess there is nothing to update. so there is an error.

I've tried different methods to try and upgrade or even reload the Radio Stack. I believe its a corruption as when I isolated the different ROMs and ran them separately, it upgraded successfully. it would show that the other components (CE and something else) were blank but that didn't stop the utility upgrading it.
I've just sent my phone off to MPS in QLD to have the ROM refreshed.
www.mpsqld.com, they are the only authorised O2 repairer in AU.

I've tried to install skype ona my cingular 2125 and now it doesn't work.
the phone just stuck on .cab extractin screen and i restart it.now the only thing it show is the cingular startup screen and that's all.I have the cingular rom update uttility but it says that the device is not connected to the pc using usb,and ask me to check the connection.

Try turning off USB connection in activesync. With the phone turned off, if you hold the camera button when you plugin the usb to phone (already connected to PC), it should start up in the bootloader.
Other method to get the bootloader is to hold the camera and the comm manager button and turn on the phone.
You should be able to use the ROM update utility with the bootloader.
Look at Karhoe's guide in the stickies at the top of this forum...
Maybe hard reset will be enough ?
Turn off Your phone. Press and keep hold of both soft keys, press the power button for approximately 0.5 to 1 second, phone will ask U if U are sure, press 0.
hard reset is a lot safer than reflash...

thank you for all the advises but unfortunateli non of them helps.I've trie everything and it still shows cingular's wellcome screen and that is all.after that the only thing i can do is to remove the battery because nothing else work.I put the original rom from cingular and everything was OK with the setup, but after that -the same.I've tried with this hard reset- the same.probbably the nezt thing that i will do is to hit it into the ground )

Our goal was making Your phone alife again.
None of mentionated procedures could help with some unknown to us bug in Your version of 3-rd party software
The latest skype works perfectly for me, in WM5 and WM6, since you are going to hard reset, why not perform a WM6 upgrade?

I was tried to reflash with the original aku2 rom from htc/cingular (the flash was successfull)but after that the phone is still not working.allways the same- cingular's startup screen and that's all.also try with hard reset with no success.I doubt that this phone will ever work again.or if there is another way to "clean" the whole memory?!is it possible to hardware reset the phone?
Format BINFS and reflash, that will clean everything except the IPL and SPL

During install it asked for a Softreset, which i did...
After that i refused to boot and keeps hanging at the o2 Bootscreen.
It totally freezes, regardless if i pull any cable, remove the sd-card etc..
So i thought i'd a hardreset once again, but that one didnt work at all.
The Restore lasts maybe 10 secs (with and without sc-card), then asks for another boot and im again where i startet, the o2 bootscreen.
Any chance i get it working again?
Like somebody else recommended flashing it with either another rom or the original one, which i might d/l somewhere.
Then again, any Flash-HowTo starts with an ActiveSync Connection.
Since my Device wont boot at all, the ActiveSync Connection wont be established...
Any helpful Advise highly appreciated :-/

You should be able to manually put it into the boot loader. I'm not familiar with you phone so you will need to research that.
***Update**** Try this; "turn your phone on press and hold the two buttons on the upper left and right side from your naviwheel and press the resetbutton with your stylus"

Manually getting into the boot loader will allow to establish a link to your PC in order to re-flash. Like I said, I'm not familiar with your phone....
yup, i noticed some more users here own an Orbit2.
So i hope somebody is able to enlighten me, before i brake my fingers while trying to press all buttons same time and then somehow hit the reset button, hehe.

I have an Orbit 2,
To Hard reset and delete everything from your phone and then let the rom reload everything back to factory settings, do the following.
1. Remove SD card
2. Hold down the 'Windows Icon' Button and the 'OK' button at the same time and keep them held in.
3. While still holding in the above 2 buttons, use the stylus and press the reset button in and then release it but you must still keep the 'Windows' button and the 'OK' button still in until you are prompted with a menu.
4. Once the menu appears: press 'Send' button to reset and reload rom or any other button to cancel.
I have done this procedure a few times now and is quite safe, especially after loading a crap piece of software that totally knackers up my Orbit 2.

Tried that before and it worked out before also.
This Time the complete recover-process lasts only 10 seconds and then the Boot doesnt work anymore either.
Dunno why the hardreset aint working anymore.
Regarding the Flashing:
I managed to get into Bootloader and see the following Information:
POLA200
SPL-1.25.0000
CPLD-2
Serial.
Then i plug in the USB-Cable and start the Update-Utility.
After following each step i get the following error:
Error 262: Update Error
Saying it has encountered communication Errors and asks me if i want to recover...
Im running VistaSP1, maybe thats a reason?
Try this for your Vista issue. It worked for me the first time. Although I don't know if SP1 has any effect.

I have a Kaiser which I updated a while ago with WM6.1 official Belgian dutch. Since it became way to slow, I wanted to hard reset the device. Since a couple of hours, it has been stuck on the green WM screen saying The device is erasing the memory, Please wait...
I have been looking through the forum, but have not found the same issue.
It does not come up in acctive sync, so a normal relaod is not possible. Any ideas?

manually go into bootloader if you want to reflash the rom, if phone is powered on hold camera button in and the softreset button at the same time! it sounds like you possibly have had a bad flash, OR you had a bad download!!!
Not possible to flash anything
what I've tried so far:
- activate active sync to install hardSPL. Not working
- install HardSPL through microSD. Not working
- install ROM through SD. Not working
I tried a non HCSD for a change, and then I see the loading scree flashing up, but quickly says No rom found and returns to the bootloader screen.
The only thing that works is load the bootloader (red green blue white) into a screen that says:
KAIS130
SPL-3.29.0000
CPLD-8
Serial
When connected to USB, it says USB, but no disk is showing in Explorer or any connection is made to AS
The only thing I've done in the past is flash the 6.1 rom through the system provided by HTC with a file called RUU_Kaiser_HTC_NLD_3.29.404.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship.exe

put it into bootloader, connect it to the computer and then flash one of the htc roms. make sure its an htc rom, you cant flash a custom rom cause you dont have hardspl
I have not been able to find the original rom, only the exe from htc which says Connect with active sync. Do I have to set it in bootloader and then execute the program?

Just want to let you know I sorted it out!
Flashing the original rom does not need active sync, the bootloader USB connection is sufficient.
After this, the phone restarted in 'Erasing memory' mode, but was able to finish it and reinstall the whole rom.
I believe I got the taste of it and will start testing some other roms...
