Updating ROM in my Qtek S200 screwed up everything.. HELP

Hi, I got my Qtek S200 aka Imate Jamin yesterday and I tried to do a ROM upgrade. I followed the instructions given in the website http://kimpeacocke.blogspot.com/2006/06/how-to-perform-rom-upgrade-on-your-i.html
I got the upgrade from this site at ftp://xda:[email protected]_022021_Dopod_PDAMobizEdition_v101.zip
I followed the procedure given in the website given above. After I upgraded successfully everything on the phone was wiped out. Since there was no instruction to backup the files, I did not do it. Now all that I see is a four colored screen saying RUU in the top right corner, IPL 2.09 in the top left corner and SPL 2.09 below it.
Does anyone know how to get my phone working again? Do I have to install all the applications including windows mobile 5.0?
If yes, please tell me where to get the softwares for the Qtek S200 and info on how to install it.

Hi julian_me.
If you are new at this ROM updating stuff, you should use official release by the OEM from their site. Those will warn you about full battery and the need to backup your data.
Now to your problem:
You do not need to reinstall WM5 as it is part of ROM. The screen you are seeing is the bootloader. You should soft reset using the reset hole (at the bottom of the device).
If you still don't get in to windows, you should try reflashing with an official ROM.

Thanks for the help. I tried the soft update. It didnt work. When I checked the Qteck S200 folder from my PC I dont see any folders. It just shows up blank. Would that be an issue? Where can I get the official download of the Qtek S200 rom update? Does that bring back all the folders and programs. Sorry to be bothering you with all my questions. I am new to the pocket pc.

It's no bother, but you might be in over your head.
1) The official ROM update should be available on the QTEK site.
2) Not 'soft update' - soft reset, it doesn't update anything, it just reboots the device. Strange that it still boots to bootloader. Are you sure no buttons are pressed while the device boots?
3) You won't see anything on your PC until the device is synchronized. For that it has to boot up properly, and it seems to be stuck in bootloader.
4) If you manage to download and flash the official ROM your problem should be solved, if not you may have to send your device to the lab for repairs.

I have had a similar issue I think...
When the ROM upgrade ahs finished sometimes you need to remove the cable before the software resets (there is a small note on the screen to this effect). For some reason this ballses up the restart.
As levenum said - always best to download the ROM from the official website, which should provide an adobe instruction sheet too.

I tried both the soft reset and hard reset. When I did the hard reset, I got the message "Press Send to restore factory default, Other keys to quit". I pressed the send button. I get Format FAT partition. etc. When I powerup, I get the "Qtek" screen and then it goes to the bootloader screen and it gets stuck there. Any ideas??

Have you removed the cable after the reboot?!

Yes, I did remove the cable. I also tried to reflash using the official ROM update. When I run the exe file, all that happens is that a window opens and then closes. Nothing happens after that.

The only time I have encountered this problem (and I have had XDA 1, II, IIi, IIs and an EXEC) is when something has been running or trying to run on the PDA as the upgrade has gone through.
If, as you say, once the download has completed you have removed the USB cable (before the reset), and no buttons are currently pressed then I do not know why the ROM isn't re-booting.
My only remaining advise would be to contact the vendor of the device and show them the problem you are having.

I had the same issue when trying to upgrade my ROM. For some reason I were not able to use any pdamobiz ROM. I successfully switched from FR to EN using that ROM :

Help with Error 260 on Wizard update

I have Wizard G3 with TNT 5 Touch Flow and tried to update radio T-mobile UK 2.19 Radio Only. update went OK but now on loading I see HTC boot screen then it moves to TNT 5.0 screen and then fades in two minutes and starts back with HTC boot screen. It then circulates like that for ever without passing to the Today screen. On connection with PC for new update with any rom it shows: Error (260) update error. What can be done?

it's a case of bad flash,did anything during flash happened like lose usb connectivity,pc crashed,battery discharged or something like unusual ?
Try to soft reset and see if it works,otherwise you'll have to reflash to official carrier's rom in boodloader mode,
1. Disconnect your phone from the usb cable,shut down any firewall,disable any Anti virus,Reboot your PC.
2. On your Desktop PC, open Microsoft ActiveSync, then go to File >Connection Settings >Remove the Selection from “Allow USB Connection with this desktop computer”
3. On your PC Open windows Task Manager...>Tab Processes...>wescomm.exe...>End process
4. Power off the phone completely (Not stand-by,shut off completely),or you may take the battery out for few seconds
5. Make sure your phone is not Connected to the PC via USB cable and remove the dummy Sdcard or mini-Sd card
6. Get your phone into Bootloader mode (Multicolor screen) by pressing camera button + Power on button
7. Reconnect your phone to the Desktop PC using the USB Cradle and the Charger MUST be Connected to the Cradle (Be sure that your battery is charged over 70%)
8. "USB"will appear on the bottom of the screen of the Bootloader (Multicolor screen)
9. Run the Upgrade again and it will work fine without any problems.
10.Never use Bluetooth sync for the Upgrade
While upgrading, the ActiveSync program will not go on, however the upgrade is running.Please be patient when you're flashing your device, even if 98%. It can wait a little bit, 5 ~ 7 minutes.
Don't cancell the flash or get the phone off the usb cable till it confirms "Congratulations" or stops with an Error!!!

Hi, this is the first time i saw a Paki guy on this web. I know there is alot of talent in IT profession in Pakistan. Anyway its good to see u here and i got a relief that with the help of a senior member like you i can get my phone work again.
To cut the chase, I have X01HT by Softbank Japan. It is Herms200 by HTC Japanese WM5 ROM. I have installed Asukal's English MUI and it was working fine for me. Now i'm planning to visit Pakistan this month so i though to unlock the sim and i used Prof v3a to unlock. I've successfully unlocked the sim and i guess CID also. When i use some other carrier's sim, i can receive the calls but cant make the calls out coz Softbank rom has a security which comes at screen and ask for password and dont let me do anything on the PDA. After studying alot on this forum i figured that i need to change the rom to get rid of that password message. i used the Olipro's Hard SPL and got bootloader 2.10 Olipro. I checked the other necessary stuff and when satisfied i started rom update. I end up with the same message of Error 260. Now my phone has no OS and it starts at bootloader. i tried everything possible like i make sure to remove all firewalls on my PC, used all the versions of Activesync and everything possible that i could. I trust that there is nothing wrong with the ROM etc but it is with connection.
Now if i update to the original ROM, i'm afraid that it will also upgrade my Bootloader and could never be able to flash english rom. I'm really depressed for the last three days and loosing sleep as well. I trust that you or any other senior member can help me with this.

8125 rom update
i have tried to do a rom update on my 8125 g4. i recently purchased it off ebay and i have two problems. the reason i want to update it is because when i try to enable the wifi my device freezes. the other problem is that i can not seem to get the phone into boot loader mode. i have tried :
-turning the phone off and holding the camera button as i turn it on.
-holding the camera button and pluging it in to a usb port.
- using wizard service tool to enter boot loader mode.
after each of these different attempts i had to either remove the battery for 3 secs or hold the reset button for a few seconds before i can turn it back on. the phone still turns and just i can not use the wifi

Help with a "Bricked" Tilt!

Any Help Appreciated. Anyone ever seen this type of "Brick"?
After flashing a new ROM (Tilt XDA-Live v1.0 - fully flashed to 100% and said finished), the device won't boot. It just gets stuck in an endless loop. It trys to boot, shows the AT&T screen, then reboots/resets back to the beginning before getting to the Windows mobile screen.
The only way to get it to stop the loop is to pull out the battery. Put the battery back in and power on and you get the loop again.
I have loaded HARD SPL (1.0.OliPof).
I can get into Bootloader mode by pressing power/camera then reset.
In this mode, I can get it to reflash the ROM (and even other ROMS) but it still ends up in the same loop.
I have tried flashing the Official ATT WWE ROM from this thread but it still loops at boot.
I did the "original/problematic" flash using Vista. Could that be the issue? I have done subsequent "recovery" flashing using XP to no avail.
I have flashed several ROMs to my Tilt in the past (Mostly Dutty ROMs).
I had a Hermes before and flashed that a million times no issue so I'm not a complete noob.
Any ideas? I'm stuck with a brick!

What ROM did you flash that started the problem for you?

dutty's touchflo rom beta for the tilt. i was on dutty's hybrid rom version 3. after flashing the OEM at&t ROM, i'm out of ideas. stay in touch if you find a fix. i'll keep searching.

Anyone else seen the issue with a Tilt stuck in a "boot loop" after flashing (see first post)?
Paypal reward for anyone who helps me recover - otherwise I'm going to have to go buy another Tilt (which I could live with but worse yet, I may be stuck with the stock ROM because I'm too gunshy to go back to my flashing ways)

Tried all day to find a fix. Think I made things worse. Read up on some threads using the mtty tool and ran a command (task 2a) that cleared the flash. But now it doesn't even boot to a splash screen, and I can't get back to bootloader mode.

This might sound a bit stupid, but I have taken note that my device upon flashing the new at&t rom actually held some of the information, you would think that a hard reset is performed after a rom flash, but that just wasn't how it worked out for me, anyway I had a radio that wouldn't come up, but would after a hard reset, this was directly after flashing my tilt...

Yeah, I have heard in several places that you need to hard reset after a flash to clear out all the settings from the old ROM. Seems odd since you just overwrote ROM - I think of it as a format (HDD mindset) but I guess it's not a clean format.

Sorry to hear you went backwards. I stopped flashing my Tilt for the same reason - worried about getting farther in the hole without some expert advice. My next step was to try the MTTY tool just as you noted. Guess I'll go that route as a last resort. If it's any consolation, I seem to remember reading about plenty of people recovering from a "brick" that won’t go into bootloader mode.
Hopefully someone trolling the waters will see this thread and take up the offer for a Cash Reward (Paypal) for help recovering this Brick!

ill put up some paypal $$ for a fix as well. i'm at the end of my rope on this one. i'm subscribed to some other threads so hopefully we'll get some feedback.

It is not so serious as you think! Try the following way:
1- Download the original rom from AT&T (the 1st rom was installed on your device)
2- Turn your bricked Tilt to bootloader ( http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Resets )
3- Start flashing your Tilt with the above AT&T rom.
Evething should be OK after that! (but your device need to be installed Hard-SSPL before!!!)

and DEFINETLY download the ROM, flash it. Once it's flashed,then ya can reflash any ROM ya want. Get the newest stock ROM from the sticky and reflash it (if ya want the ATT ROM)
That will fix it.
(I reflashed Tilt XDA-Live v 1.0, and it's working GREAT.)
I did the same thing to my Tilt.

Problem is I can't get to a bootloader screen now. I press Camera+Power+reset, but all that happens is the green LED goes off then on, and then the screen is blank. Anyone know any other tricks? I think I may have erased my bootloader using mtty command 'task 2a'.

Hate to say it, but if after hours of searching on the forum you can't find an answer, i'd pm a pro like pof. I don't know if that will work, but their advice is the only thing i'd listen to.
Don't forget to give a lot of detail and maybe mention what you've tried.

****, I should have replied after someone posted all those links to Hermes unbrick procedures, to never do a task 2a from hardSPL. It reformats entire flash including SPL and the problem with hardSPL is that you can't flash another SPL, even if you would have tried before rebooting
Anyhow, your only chances to unbrick your device are to try to enter radio bootloader (there is a radio bootloader running on the mARM (ARM9)) and then to flash it. However, only service centres have such flashx utilities I'm afraid. Furthermore I'm not sure if radio bootloader can be entered directly, usually you can enter it via the normal CE SPL. You can try to first connect USB and then press reset with the stylus while holding the Voicecmd key. If you are in XP, then three new devices should be found (composite USB, a modem and a diagnostics port). Download the Motorola "Q" usb drivers, these will work just fine. In this mode you will have to authenticate to the radio bootloader before you can start entering commands. We'll get to that if you manage to connect. Your other chance to unbrick is via JTAG. I know the kaiser has JTAG points scattered on PCB.

Ok here's what happens:
1. downloaded Motorola USB drivers (32-bit) from their site, installed and rebooted.
2. plugged in Tilt via usb cable, 'found new Hardware wizard' starts.
3. clicked next to auto-search for drivers, but the wizard fails with 'cannot install this hardware' message. I have 3 yellow question marks in Device Manager for 'Data Interface' devices.
4. held down Push-to-talk button and hit soft reset. No change, no leds are lit, screen is off.

Not bad at all. Apparently your phone is in Qualcomm DIAG mode, probably as a consequence of task 2a Now you can forget about rebooting with Voicecmd pressed.
Either you've got the wrong drivers or you don't install them in the correct way. Go in device manager, right click one of the 3 and update driver, then 'install from a list or specific location (Advanced)', then check 'Include this location in search' and enter the driver path. I'll take a quick look if I can find the drivers for you, I vaguely remember they were on mobile-files dot com.
EDIT: found the drivers, attached. The VID and PID of the found usb devices should be VID_05C6&PID_6000. Take a look in the device's advanced tab in device manager.
PS: Although diagnostics mode sounds great, I haven't yet found a way to flash the device. Perhaps it works with that Hermes radio flasher MaUpgrade_NoID.exe
Guys with a working SPL can enter radio bootloader DIAG mode via "rtask b", exit MTTY and install drivers. It would be great to know if someone has a htc/qualcomm radio flash utility (perhaps MaUpgrade_NoID.exe is what you need)

Massive Problem--Help?

Alright so for some reason my phone would not flash roms fully they would always stop at like 89 percent or somthing...
So i thought maybe i should update my hard spl...
So i flash a new hard spl on my phone and now for some reason a htc pocket bios screen comes up and i cant even attempt to flash anything now...
Someone help?

Go get the official rom for your phone. Make sure your phone is in the bootloader screen (tri color) and it shows USB. Activesync will NOT connect (thats fine). Now run the RUU for the official rom (ignore where it says to make sure activesync is working. As long as the phone shows USB you are fine). Once you flash to the official rom, you should have a working device again.
At that point you need to verify if you have any type of hardspl installed (post what your phone says on the boot loader screen. You can get back to it by holding the camera button and doing a soft reset. Then just do a soft reset again to get the phone to reboot).

stuck during boot, do not know what to do

Some years ago, I have flashed my polaris from o2. i then got myself an iphone and some new computers (using vista now instead of xp), so that I do not have any of the old files that I used back then to flash the phone. my father was using the xda for quite a while now. however, suddenly the device is not working any more: if you turn it on, the boot screen will appear, but then it is stuck and nothing is happening (even no rom info in the lower right corner). also a hard reset doesn't help to overcome this problem.
what I am trying now is to flash it, because I guess (and hope) that this might help. But, to be honest, I completely forgot how this works. I downloaded an original rom from this website today, but I cannot flash it to the device (stuck at 0%, getting an communication problem error). If I turn on the phone with camera button pressed down, the tricolor-screen appears reading POLA200, SPL-3.13.0000, CPLD-2. what am I doing wrong? your help is greatly appreciated.

Try flashing the rom from the tricolour-screen just make sure at the bottom of the tricolour-screen it say's usb not serial.
You will only be able to flash official roms as you don't have a stock spl not hard-spl.

however, I now downloaded the rom from the original o2-site and it is at the moment in the process of flashing it - let's cross fingers.
damn, it did not work. I mean, the flashing succeeded, but the problem still persists: if I start the device, the start-screen appears, but that's it - nothing happens afterwards, and after some seconds, the device turns itself off again.
what could that be?

Could be the battery if the device turns itself off,try booting with the charger or usb still in.Or flash hard spl and try a different rom.

hi all friends if you are stuck on 0% and u cant install spl then do this ,,,
You can try this:
1. Stop ActiveSync
2. Open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete) on your PC and
stop these two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
3. Plug in your device via USB. Your computer should be asking install a driver. Install and continue.
4. Now Run mtty and choose USB in 'PORT'
4. type "set 16 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
5. type "task 8" to get your device formatted.
6. Now unplug your device and manually reset it.
