BlackBerry Connect Data Connection - General Topics

Hi All, is there a way I can hack into the BlackBerry Connect windows mobile data connection so I can use Opera Mini and Google Maps using the free 250mb allowance I have with the BlackBerry data service? Would be so cool if this were possible! Many thanks.

Anyone got any ideas?

This is just in theory. If you phone only has one internet connection (Blackberry Connect) then all data will use that one. Case in point. I have had a PDA phone with the Blackberry personal plan only. While it was the unlimited plan I'm certain that all data was used via the subscribed internet plan.
One last way to be sure is to disable (delete) the media net connection. Assuming your on ATT

Dean, I am looking for the same thing. With Pocket IE the blackberry data service is not worth it for me.

I'm suprised nobody knows a way of doing this! Some website just don't load with Pocket Internet Explorer but load perfectly with Opera Mini or Skyfire. If I use these browsers a new data connection is established which adds cost to my bill rather than using the BlackBerry data connection which costs me nothing! Please help!

Yeah it would be great if someone figures this one out. I use Opera Mobile which makes for a much better browsing experience, and with it u can download large files which seems to be n limitation on Pocket IE.

I cannot believe a hack would be that difficult especially as there is a download version of Opera Mini for BlackBerry devices! I so would love someone to work this out and wish I had the talent to even attempt it! Here’s hoping some bright spark can help!

tmobile browser question.

Hey you guys I have a question that hopefully one of you fine people can answer If I HAVE THE UNLIMITED INTERNET AND APPS ADDED TO MY PLAN CAN I USE A DIFFERNENT WEB BROWSER WITHOUT TMOBILE CHARGING ME OR DO I HAVE to use theirs?
i dont now but why dont unlock it
What I meant was can I use a different browser like Opera instead of the
T-mobile browser without being charged extra?
You should be fine.
I believe you mean Tmobile USA. If so..,
As long as you have unlimted internet, be it 5.99 Tmobile web or the full version, you can use any application to extract data from the internet, and they cannot charge you extra.
Only pain is using an opera browser with the slow speeds of Tmobile.
THANKS!!! you guys for the answers I guess I'll use Opera mobile for now until Skyfire becomes available for everyone.
Why dont you try Opera Mini? Opera Mobile with tmobile's speeds can be quite a pain in the $$$. And with opera mobile's habit of trying to reload pages for no apparent reason, it will be quite some time before u can actually start reading something off the screen. IF you do a page up/page down, well, its starts all over again.
Try using Opera Mini. Use it with the latest Esmertec Jbed java version which allows decent fullscreen and do the FIX for enabling internet access without asking everytime. You will be much more happy that way

Tmobile, internet sharing and warcraft login

Here's my problem...
I have a windows mobile 6.1 smartphone (new Dash 3G) with tmobile voice and data service. I travel alot, so I like to use the internet sharing option on my smartphone to cruise the internet on my laptop (I turn on internet sharing on the smartphone, then plug the smartphone into the laptop via a usb cable.) It works rather well, especially if I am in a 3G area. However, I cannot log into warcraft when using internet sharing on my smartphone. Every time I try to log in, it says "Unable to connect, please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact customer support."
Any thoughts on how I can login into warcraft on my laptop while using the internet sharing option on my windows 6.1 smartphone?

I have no problem connecting using my Fuze w/ WM6.1 on AT&T and my Windows 7 laptop. Latency is a little high, but it's quite playable if going solo.
Maybe T-Mobile blocks the ports that WoW needs to authenticate.

Strangely enough, I can log into the official WoW messageboards via internet sharing on tmobile. I believe those forums use the same login server as the game.

It may be the same server, but IE and Firefox use Port 80 for communication. The WoW Launcher does not.

I use Google Chrome.
The WoW launcher will take me to the login screen, so will running wow.exe. Regardless, if I use the WoW launcher or run WoW.exe, I cannot get past the login screen.

Google Chrome applies as well. What I meant was that web browsers use Port 80 for HTTP traffic, but the actual WoW executable does not use Port 80. T-Mobile might be blocking the port WoW needs to communicate with the authentication server.

wifi router apps

What are some good, freeware WIFI router apps that generally work on win mobile devices? I've been searching and haven't found anything worthwhile. You all are always reliable on recommendations so thought I'd ask...
Search for HTC Wifi Internet Sharing, I've been successfully using it on my Kaiser for months, and it works great, especially for freeware. But, if you want to do more interesting stuff, WMWifirouter, by our own member Chainfire, is an excellent payware solution.
+1 for HTC's free app
I don't use it all the time, but when I have needed to provide my own wifi to my laptop it has worked flawlessly.
The internet sharing app doesn't seem to do WIFI broadcasting. I'm trying to get this going before a deploy so that it will be much easier to have internet access whenever I want to email home.
I'm not so into advanced WiFi stuff, is there a chance you can set up a WiFi network on your phone and then connect to with your phone?
Right. That's what we have established... A program is available from another forum member but it costs some money. I'd like to know how to do it in some free fashion though.
I have tried the paid program and it is very nice, I just don't know that it's really worth the expenditure.

[q] App like NoData for Android?

Hi guys!
I searched this Forum for NoData, but not a single thread turned up. :/
I want to test Android (SD Version) on my HD2 soon and need a App like NoData for it because I don't have a mobile internet flat.
If NoData doesn't ring a bell: It's a simple WinMo App that doesn't allow any app or system component to access mobile internet.
Is there a similar thing for Android? (I'm thinking of running a 2.2 Android version)

Put it in Airplane Mode
Just disable mobile data in settings.
DroidWall if you want to select certain applications.

And it works and stays off? That would be great! On WinMo you can only cancel a established connection with the stock software.
Try superpower from market and here on xda. 3gwatch turns your 3g off like nodata. There should be a simple cmd line for turning off 3g but don't remember it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Or you could just create an empty profile and select that as default...
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
I'm using apndroid. simple but affective
NoData like app for Android
A little late to post but for anyone who has been looking for a WinMo NoDATA like app then I've been successfully using APN on-off widget by Pedro Maicas.
i too looked for No Data, but then i found that going into the settings and just unchecking works all the same =)
Hello I am in the same situation
I upgrading from HTC HD windows mobile to Samsung Galaxy note this christmas , and probaly Nexus later...
On HTC HD i have the NODATA is very useful cause the flat internet i have is not good, have a prepay card and everytime a widget conect to internet company charge med 3 Euro a day even if i Surf internet or not ....aweful
So i installed NOdata on HTC the moments i not used internet and saved a lot of money
Now on Android i need a similar solution for Galaxy note and nexus
Reading this thread i understand there is not a NO-data version for android
but there is 4 options
1. Just disable mobile data in settings
2.DroidWall if you want to select certain applications
3.3gwatch
4. apndroid
Can anyone tell me how i disable mobile data in settings on a Galaxy note i just got it yesterday
What is the difference between Droidwall,3gwatch and apndroid
and which of theese perform most similar to Nodata.
What i want is simple ZERO transfer of widget updats without my permision
cause that means 3 euro and if i dont plan surf internet that day i am not going to pay those 3 euro
I might find it less useful when i move over to another company and better flat fee but for now i realy need a No data app

[Q] Anyone have a good app for bluetooth tethering?

I'm looking for a phone to replace my old T-Mobile Touch Pro 2. As clunky as old WM is, the wireless options are awesome. I currently use BT networking to share an internet connection with my laptop when on the road. Now I want to switch to using a credit card processing company that allows me to use a swipe tool that connects to an Android phone - not available for Windows Mobile. This is the perfect opportunity to get a Sensation but I'm concerned about not being able to tether as easily (and free of charge) with the Sensation as it was with my TP2. I know I can do wifi sharing but not sure how easy that is to use and if it's free or not. Someone please shed some light on this for me. What is your experience with tethering/internet sharing?
