tmobile browser question. - HTC Tornado

Hey you guys I have a question that hopefully one of you fine people can answer If I HAVE THE UNLIMITED INTERNET AND APPS ADDED TO MY PLAN CAN I USE A DIFFERNENT WEB BROWSER WITHOUT TMOBILE CHARGING ME OR DO I HAVE to use theirs?

i dont now but why dont unlock it

What I meant was can I use a different browser like Opera instead of the
T-mobile browser without being charged extra?

You should be fine.

I believe you mean Tmobile USA. If so..,
As long as you have unlimted internet, be it 5.99 Tmobile web or the full version, you can use any application to extract data from the internet, and they cannot charge you extra.
Only pain is using an opera browser with the slow speeds of Tmobile.

THANKS!!! you guys for the answers I guess I'll use Opera mobile for now until Skyfire becomes available for everyone.

Why dont you try Opera Mini? Opera Mobile with tmobile's speeds can be quite a pain in the $$$. And with opera mobile's habit of trying to reload pages for no apparent reason, it will be quite some time before u can actually start reading something off the screen. IF you do a page up/page down, well, its starts all over again.
Try using Opera Mini. Use it with the latest Esmertec Jbed java version which allows decent fullscreen and do the FIX for enabling internet access without asking everytime. You will be much more happy that way

BlackBerry Connect Data Connection

Hi All, is there a way I can hack into the BlackBerry Connect windows mobile data connection so I can use Opera Mini and Google Maps using the free 250mb allowance I have with the BlackBerry data service? Would be so cool if this were possible! Many thanks.
Anyone got any ideas?
This is just in theory. If you phone only has one internet connection (Blackberry Connect) then all data will use that one. Case in point. I have had a PDA phone with the Blackberry personal plan only. While it was the unlimited plan I'm certain that all data was used via the subscribed internet plan.
One last way to be sure is to disable (delete) the media net connection. Assuming your on ATT

Dean, I am looking for the same thing. With Pocket IE the blackberry data service is not worth it for me.
I'm suprised nobody knows a way of doing this! Some website just don't load with Pocket Internet Explorer but load perfectly with Opera Mini or Skyfire. If I use these browsers a new data connection is established which adds cost to my bill rather than using the BlackBerry data connection which costs me nothing! Please help!
Yeah it would be great if someone figures this one out. I use Opera Mobile which makes for a much better browsing experience, and with it u can download large files which seems to be n limitation on Pocket IE.
I cannot believe a hack would be that difficult especially as there is a download version of Opera Mini for BlackBerry devices! I so would love someone to work this out and wish I had the talent to even attempt it! Here’s hoping some bright spark can help!

browsers shutting down need help

when i click on certain links on certain sites like ebay googlemail and recently freeware site the browser shuts down automaticly.i use opera even with internet explorer the same thing happens.im using tmobile sim.i was wondering is it the network.
might happen because of video plugins
Hi, it happens to me when the page in question has embedded video. Not necessarily all the browsers will automatically shut themselves, so far only happened to me when using Opera
i have understood the problem i changed the sim to another network it runs fine.
because it was originaly launched as contract i had problems using a pay and go sim.this depends on the network how well there service is.i think contract sim is best to use .i tested certain networks
It happens to me with some sites even via WiFi, so I think it's site related.
Nick
It might be better with the Skyfire browser

Verizon User - Opera vs IE

I've had my phone a week now. For some reason, my internet experience on this phone is much worse that when when I had my XV6800 with IE.
I assume that Opera is the default browser on the TP2. I've found that page loading speed and navigation is much, much slower than my prior phone. Everything I read prior to purchasing this phone said Opera was a marked improvement.
Did Verizon do something to hinder Opera? Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
I looked through the 5 pages of posts within this forum for suggestions, but didn't see any. I was not sure if any of the fixes in the general forum would work on the Verizon TP2. Thanks!

If you download Opera Mini it does a better job IMO. I don't know what they did to make Opera so crappy on this phone. I can't wait until it's unlocked so I can get all this garbage off of it.
Which version of Opera is loaded by default by Verizon?
the build shipped with the PT2 is V9.5 16730. I don't think its that bad, I actually find that IE on this is slower than it was on my hacked Vogue and has scrolling issues.
If you don't like the opera shipped with the phone try the beta 9.7 version, it has flash (though a poor implementation IMO) and turbo mode to load pages faster. Skyfire isn't a bad option either, especially if you enjoy hulu and the likes
Anyone know how to get the shipped opera as the default browser for links rather than IE?

Please Help....Opera Keeps Crashing

Every time I try to visit the pocketnow website on my TP2, my opera browser crashes and closes. It has done this ever since I got it from Verizon. It still does it after a fresh hard reset and with no memory card inserted. Please help me. Thanks.

Have this problem with several websites. Finally gave up and went back to Sky Fire. Much more stable, it is for me anyway.
That's what I was afraid of. Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the Opera 9.5 that is on the phone? I read somewhere that the Verizon version shipped with a older version of Opera 9.5 than the Sprint and T-mobile TP2. I am not really interested with Opera 9.7, because I want all of my Touchflo links to still work. I really like Opera and if at all possible, I would like to stick with it rather than switching over the Skyfire or Opera Mini 5.
i believe the problem is the amount of flash ads they have running on their page
You may also want to try Opera Mobile 9.7b (still beta, but free public download). I also use Skyfire, but I like some of the features on Opera Mobile. I just wish I could get the zoom bar to work on these other browsers...

Internet with full flash ?

Just to make sure, it is really not possible to have a internet navigator which allow full flash ? Or do i only need to download/install a other one than opera and internet explorer ?
Thanks,
Ulysses
try to install skyfire
There is nothing with full flash, Skyfire is as close as you'll get currently.
Adobe is releasing Flash 10 in the next couple of months, sometime soon after that we should have full flash (along with every other major OS besides iPhone).
Skyfire supports flash I love it, give it a try.
Great, thanks for you answers. I will try Skyfire and lets wait for the release and see
WARNING !!!!!!
If you do not have a flat rate be careful with Skyfire. It automatically connects to the internet per telephone network. It even managed to throw me out of Wireless Lan and continued with a connection - cost me €35 in one go. As its full screen you don't see whats going on and it does not ask. Ensure that if this is an issue that you have an application like NoData installed or set up a dummy default connection. I'm sure you'll find more details in the forum about it.
Thanks for the warning.
I have a contract that include 1GO of data... so I think I should be safe. But thanks anyway.
I've never had trouble with Skyfire using a connection I didn't want it to. As long as Wifi is fully connected before opening Skyfire it's fine. My favourite browser. Prefer it to Opera.
