Tmobile, internet sharing and warcraft login - General Topics

Here's my problem...
I have a windows mobile 6.1 smartphone (new Dash 3G) with tmobile voice and data service. I travel alot, so I like to use the internet sharing option on my smartphone to cruise the internet on my laptop (I turn on internet sharing on the smartphone, then plug the smartphone into the laptop via a usb cable.) It works rather well, especially if I am in a 3G area. However, I cannot log into warcraft when using internet sharing on my smartphone. Every time I try to log in, it says "Unable to connect, please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact customer support."
Any thoughts on how I can login into warcraft on my laptop while using the internet sharing option on my windows 6.1 smartphone?

I have no problem connecting using my Fuze w/ WM6.1 on AT&T and my Windows 7 laptop. Latency is a little high, but it's quite playable if going solo.
Maybe T-Mobile blocks the ports that WoW needs to authenticate.

Strangely enough, I can log into the official WoW messageboards via internet sharing on tmobile. I believe those forums use the same login server as the game.

It may be the same server, but IE and Firefox use Port 80 for communication. The WoW Launcher does not.

I use Google Chrome.
The WoW launcher will take me to the login screen, so will running wow.exe. Regardless, if I use the WoW launcher or run WoW.exe, I cannot get past the login screen.

Google Chrome applies as well. What I meant was that web browsers use Port 80 for HTTP traffic, but the actual WoW executable does not use Port 80. T-Mobile might be blocking the port WoW needs to communicate with the authentication server.

BlackBerry Connect Data Connection

Hi All, is there a way I can hack into the BlackBerry Connect windows mobile data connection so I can use Opera Mini and Google Maps using the free 250mb allowance I have with the BlackBerry data service? Would be so cool if this were possible! Many thanks.
Anyone got any ideas?
This is just in theory. If you phone only has one internet connection (Blackberry Connect) then all data will use that one. Case in point. I have had a PDA phone with the Blackberry personal plan only. While it was the unlimited plan I'm certain that all data was used via the subscribed internet plan.
One last way to be sure is to disable (delete) the media net connection. Assuming your on ATT

Dean, I am looking for the same thing. With Pocket IE the blackberry data service is not worth it for me.
I'm suprised nobody knows a way of doing this! Some website just don't load with Pocket Internet Explorer but load perfectly with Opera Mini or Skyfire. If I use these browsers a new data connection is established which adds cost to my bill rather than using the BlackBerry data connection which costs me nothing! Please help!
Yeah it would be great if someone figures this one out. I use Opera Mobile which makes for a much better browsing experience, and with it u can download large files which seems to be n limitation on Pocket IE.
I cannot believe a hack would be that difficult especially as there is a download version of Opera Mini for BlackBerry devices! I so would love someone to work this out and wish I had the talent to even attempt it! Here’s hoping some bright spark can help!

WMwifi router app NAT settings for XboxLive

Has anyone messed around with this app and figured out how to properly adjust the NAT settings for xbox live? I know the ports that need to be opened are
TCP 80
UDP88
UDP/TCP3074
UDP/TCP 53
I dont know if those numbers need to be under local or destination port or what to put for ip destination. Any help would be appreciated.
Xbox Live will connect under the strict NAT settings if left unmodified but I was hoping to make a "OPEN" with some NAT settings and tweaking.
Also this is not the HTC WIFI APP I am using it is the WMWifi app.
Thanks again.
So no one has messed with app.
Please any help would be awesome.
In my opinion it is impossible to open ports via GSM (hsdpa, gprs, .....).

Sorry I haven't but I wouldn't imagine xbox live would be much use through mobile internet anyway. The only use i could think of would be messaging but you can do that through the xbox.com site. Hope you find an answer though so you can find out if it is any use.

That's what I thought but this WMWifi app has settings for opening ports and adjusting NAT settings.

Actually with a strict NAT playing online doesn't use that much data. Well at least games like UNO, Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 & Madden '10. There is hardly any lag (at least for me so far) but the downside is voice chat is basically unusable. Sure it works some times but more often than not it really doesn't. And also it is a good idea if you let your friends host and try not to on your end, lets just say the results are not favorable.
Now downloading videos or game demos takes a toll. Netflix seems somewhat manageable. Just don't expect to stream a HD netflix movie.
**If anyone else knows if this app actually lets you modify ports and forwarding please let me know.**
***Also as a sidebar question, does anyone know of a wifi app that the PS3 will recognize and connect to? I have tried:
- Tom Gordon WiFi app
-HTC WiFi app
-And this WMWiFi app***
if u have vista or win 7 theres a sidebar gadget that lets u change ur nat settings over wifi very easy.. i use it almost every day cause i play on all 3 regions and i wont let me open those ports 4 all ip adresses that means have 2 switch it quickly woud really love a programm like this on winmo and who is fkn gaystation

So your saying all I have to do is hook up my HTC HD2 to a computer running either Vista or Windows7 OS and there is a sidebar gadget that will change the NAT settings on my WMWiFi app on my phone so I can then wireless tether my HD2 to my Xbox360 and get on XboxLive with "open" NAT.

Remote desktop client

Hello guys,
i'm looking for a decent RDP client.
I have tried the WM6 RDP from finster869 but i can't connect to any server.
I have tried also the ms_rdp_v6.5.cab downloaded somewhere in this forum: this one works but once switched to full screen i loose the keyboard and i can't digit anything.
I don't understand why Toshiba has not delivered a such important app
It's ridiculous, I've tried finster but it just doesn't work. The only one that works for me is MochaVnc as the viewer on my phone and I use ultraVnc on my desktop as the server, but I think at the moment, I've only been able to get it running over wifi. If someone manages over 3G, please please let me know.
But I haven't got a clue why finster doesn't work. Wanted to try it out .

If I'm not wrong, This kind of software only works in a intranet , so only WIFI is available as wireless connection (no 3G possibility)
I use VNC server (on PC as Mobile). If any interested I can link the apps.
the ms_rdp_v6.5.cab works on 3G too. The problem is that full screen mode hides the keyboard.

Any steps to get it working?
It works on 3G to? Compared to what other software do you mean? I've tried the microsoft one and the finster, but just never connects, even in wifi mode. I find it completely useless. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I'm going to holiday in a few days so would love to get this working on 3G
I have tried the free RDP client zaDesktop 0.98b: same problem of Microsoft RDP.
It connects perfectly to the servers using the 3G/HSPA connection but when the application goes full-screen, the keyboard icon goes away.
have you tried Remote Touch? It is very simple ... you can try it with wlan very quick ... it just takes 5 minutes to download, installing and testing. If you want to control your PC via 3G you just need an no-ip Account for an DNS address.

I cannot install 3rd party unauthorized services on the business servers. RDP is the official method to remote access the servers.
I have choose a Windows mobile device because of this; i could not image that RDP on TG01 was such a pain.
I can't correctly access a Microsoft server platform with a Microsoft OS phone and a Microsoft application and probabily i will have to use 3rd party software to resolve the problem. In fact, i am going to try RDM+: a commercial software, availiable for WM and many other platforms included Android and iphone.
What a big defeat for Microsoft (and Toshiba too).
RDP worked for me
For me RDP works without any problem. I use Nokser's newest build from 30.05.2010. I think it is a Version of Finster pre-installed.

Here you are: VNC® Server Free Edition 4.1 for Windows
The ZIP is the VCN server,to be installed in your PC
The cab is the VCN viewer, to be installed in your TG01
On viewer, you have to write the IP and port in this way (example): Server: 192.168.1.11:5901

Internet sharing question

I tried to play online game on my pc using the internet sharing from my Touch Pro2, but I got an error that said I am behind a firewall. Any solution for this? I tried using wifi rounter in the rom, didn't work either.
Moved as not software release.

Most 3G networks use NAT, which gives you a form of firewall to give you an internal IP Address, and then translate that to one external IP Address.
Basically lets one IP be shared by loads of users, but it also means that you appear to be firewalled for most games.
Standard DHCP is ON SHUT iT OFF
Standard on WinMo DHCP is ON and I hate it for obvious reasons!! Port forwarding and DHCP is a #%$&^@. Therefore I used S-K-Tools to shut it off
Then I installed Schaps Network Plugin,
http://www.allshadow.com/files/Schaps_NetworkPlugin_1_0_30468_1.CAB
and am a happy camper now! I do know I can use S-K-Tools to see the Network in Explorer too, though I already had Schaps Network Plugin installed, before I stumbled over sk-tools...
By the way I recently posted a thread here on xda-developers with this info;
NbtstatCE
Nbtstat for the Pocket PC. Written in Embedded Visual C++. All versions of Windows CE have a file explorer which can not view windows shares easily. Nbtstat allows the user to view netbios shares on all IP addresses in a subnet.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/nbtstatce/
Maybe its of use to you too. Have a nice day,

Can Anyione Assist With VPN Set Up?

Hello everyone,
Currently my lappy uses Nortel (XEAN) and a grid card to connect. I called my company support but they are not interested in helping me.
At this writing, I have been lappy-less for the last 3 weeks. There are 2 tasks that I cannot perform and this is one of them.
I was going to try Cisco AnyConnect ICS+ from the store and see how that goes.
Any and all comments or assistance is welcomed!
Thank you and Regards,
would like to know how you progress
We also uses VPN to connect with home pc/laptops to the office but I would LOVE to use my note 10.1 instead.
So, if you make any progress, please let me know.
THanks

If you want a home personal server, and have a spare android device lying about, you could try "servers ultimate" from the playstore with "openvpn"by openvpn, from the playstore, i sucessfully tested a connection between my tab and my phone, server on the phone, client on the tab, simple enough, servers ultimate after setting up the vpn server profile, it lets you export a file with the settings needed for openvpn, it was quite easy to setup.
I dont know if this is what your looking for, and im pretty sure the secure connection was over network only, as im still to unknowledgeble on these things, all i know is, apparentky there is a way to put an "internet" ip address on a vpn server profile, so that if you connect to a public wifi network like you find in stores, you can vpn to your android device at home acting as your vpn server, making an encrypted connection through the public wifi, to your android vpn, and then your vpn server would pass through YOUR home internet, while protecting your connection on the public wifi from any prying eyes who may be using apps that sniff the network data, i believe, like the apps on android that "sniff" out facebook sesions....for instance, not something i use personally
A benefit to this is that your not paying an unknown vpn to pass a "secure" connection through THEIR systems in between, you control, that in between, or at least, better control, over your own private property......i dont think its able to spoof ip address, if thats what folks might be looking for, but the servers ultimate app is pretty extensive, and my knowledge withese things is limited, so for those looking, who knows what their doing, might be worth checking it out (i wouldnt mind a small setup guide, if someone manages that)......if it makes a difference, your also able to setup a proxy server, although i never did figure out how, hell, aint to sure what it does ...........
well, hopefully this helps
