[Q] Anyone have a good app for bluetooth tethering? - HTC Sensation

I'm looking for a phone to replace my old T-Mobile Touch Pro 2. As clunky as old WM is, the wireless options are awesome. I currently use BT networking to share an internet connection with my laptop when on the road. Now I want to switch to using a credit card processing company that allows me to use a swipe tool that connects to an Android phone - not available for Windows Mobile. This is the perfect opportunity to get a Sensation but I'm concerned about not being able to tether as easily (and free of charge) with the Sensation as it was with my TP2. I know I can do wifi sharing but not sure how easy that is to use and if it's free or not. Someone please shed some light on this for me. What is your experience with tethering/internet sharing?

BlackBerry Connect Data Connection

Hi All, is there a way I can hack into the BlackBerry Connect windows mobile data connection so I can use Opera Mini and Google Maps using the free 250mb allowance I have with the BlackBerry data service? Would be so cool if this were possible! Many thanks.
Anyone got any ideas?
This is just in theory. If you phone only has one internet connection (Blackberry Connect) then all data will use that one. Case in point. I have had a PDA phone with the Blackberry personal plan only. While it was the unlimited plan I'm certain that all data was used via the subscribed internet plan.
One last way to be sure is to disable (delete) the media net connection. Assuming your on ATT

Dean, I am looking for the same thing. With Pocket IE the blackberry data service is not worth it for me.
I'm suprised nobody knows a way of doing this! Some website just don't load with Pocket Internet Explorer but load perfectly with Opera Mini or Skyfire. If I use these browsers a new data connection is established which adds cost to my bill rather than using the BlackBerry data connection which costs me nothing! Please help!
Yeah it would be great if someone figures this one out. I use Opera Mobile which makes for a much better browsing experience, and with it u can download large files which seems to be n limitation on Pocket IE.
I cannot believe a hack would be that difficult especially as there is a download version of Opera Mini for BlackBerry devices! I so would love someone to work this out and wish I had the talent to even attempt it! Here’s hoping some bright spark can help!

HTC HD2 Apps: Loudtalks v0.9.0.70

Turn your HD2 into walkie talkie with Loudtalks.
Loudtalks is a push-to-talk application for Windows and Windows phones. It's lightweight, easy to use and extremely fast. Better yet it's free and will always remain free for personal use.
Features:
Fast - Loudtalks conversations are nearly as fast as face-to-face and possibly the fastest way to communicate online.
Easy to use - To start talking you just push F7. It works even when the application is minimized.
One to many - With Loudtalks you can voice message two, three or even a hundred people simultaneously.
Voice history - Re-play your conversations when you want from the voice history.
Lightweight - We hate bloated software. Loudtalks setup for Windows is under 2 Mb and the program takes up little system resources and memory
Automatic - In the most cases you don't have to configure anything to start using Loudtalks
Loud - Unlike traditional VoIP applications you don't have to use a headset with Loudtalks. Just plug-in a microphone (or use a built-in one) and play the sound via speakers. That's much more convenient.
Portable - When installed on USB thumbdrive Loudtalks will recognize that and will work in portable mode leaving no trace on host computers.
Mobile - Use Loudtalks for Windows Mobile to turn your handheld into two-way radio!
Multilingual - Loudtalks has been translated to 11 languages. More translations will be added over time.
3G and EDGE compatible - Loudtalks works great over WiFi and 3G, and even could be used on GPRS and EDGE.

Pretty much what I was thinking, this app is amazing.
Wonder what the battery usage is on it. Anyone know if it's a bat killer? I just got it. Also, anyone try this for gaming yet?

ive been using this app since its first public release. it is a major battery killer concidering it is in a constant send/recieve mode. overall this app is cool but you should use it while the charger is plugged in.
cool app works good (not nextel) battery killer though
I have been using this app for several days on touch pro 2 it works good as long as you dont go to "options" in menue and try to change anything in "control' the phone crashes and battery needs to be removed. However it works great if you dont mess with control in menue options
And there is a new version uploaded on loudtalks.com a while ago. Version 0.9.0.77 is the actually one (see my signature)

GPS Interface Development

I have an IPhone 4 and I am a Xcode developer (Can write and installed Iphone Apps), so I could write a program to run on the Iphone 4 and/or 3GS to output the GPS readings via USB or Bluetooth. What I am looking for is someone to write the android side so that we can have Real Time Navigation on our beloved GTablet. Is there anyone up for the effort?
If there already is a way to do this (Short of a USB Dongle), please let me know
Theres already apps to connect to a bluetooth gps! Also, there are apps (android based at least, dont know about iOS) to share your gps via bluetooth. I have used it already, used my evo and streak to use gps on the gtablet! lol

Hi - there is a way to do this using apps when going android to android device. Is there a similar app on iPhone?
On my Nexus One I use ShareGPS app and on my tablet I use Bluetooth GPS Provider.
If you have a similar iPhone GPS sharing type app, then you should be good to go.

[Q] Is there an app for that?

Does anyone know if there is an app out there where you can take one android device and remote control it from another android device. Preferably via a bluetooth connection.
I would like to be able to use my current Android phone and remote control my old android phone. This way i can just leave my old android phone hooked up to a set of speakers and use my new android phone to change the music.
It would be nice to be able to browse the media library off the old android right from my new android device with out having to put that media collection on my new phone.
So, i guess idealy im looking for a remote desktop app for android from android
I didn't read the whole page but I'm pretty sure this is what your looking for.
Clicky Here
any chance do you know a way to do this with out having a network in place? Or could i use my new phone, set up a hot spot and then proceed to use my phone hosting the hot spot to control the old phone?

I'm not entirely sure, its worth a try. I haven't done this personally, I'm just a search warrior lol.
Thanks a lot! This is the exact idea of what I'm looking for conceptually. Now to find a way to week the network settings!
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
No problem, let me know how it goes.
I found mixing PlugPlayer and Bubble UPNP (apps) together allow me to obtain the actual results of what i want to do with the two phones. All i need to do is get the Wifi tether to create a local network without affecting my actual data service.
well done sir

[Q] Will SHAREit & SuperBeam work without WiFi Direct?

I have been searching a lot about different file transferring apps. After googling a lot I kept stumbling into three apps; Xender, SuperBeam & SHAREit. I found that Xender can trasnfer file with just WiFi (without WiFi Direct) by using Virtual Router & Client concept. But I couldn't find anywhere if SuperBeam & SHAREit can do the same... All my SmartPhones have WiFi Direct & so do my friends' SmartPhones. So there is no way of checking if they work without WiFi Direct. So can anyone please confirm or verify, if SuperBeam & SHAREit apps will work wihtout WiFi Direct?
I have a small question, will Xender work with just Bluetooth (without WiFi & WiFi Direct)?
Hi Satya,
Xender uses Wi-Fi direct technology which means that it can transfers data up to 50 times Bluetooth speed, Most of the Smartphone today have Wi-Fi
There is no reason to use Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi direct so Xender never carry Bluetooth functions.
Thanks
Firstly your question does not belong to this forum
And answer is superbeam can also use hotspot to send files, for that you need to go into superbeam's setting and then go into sending and select preferred direct mode as hotspot (instead of auto)

I asked about Bluetooth compatibility because I wanted to cover all bases. And thanks for clarifying that. But don't you think it will be cool if Xender was able to send file even when wifi and wifi direct facilities are unavailable?
I've been messing around with file transfer apps myself. On the play store there's "WiFi...." by app dev dubloo (I think) its been a bit since. Anyway, that app allows files from device to a computer with an easy to use interface via web browser. I guess the app acts like a server. If you are interested... ICE COLD APPS have *Servers*/*Synchronize* "Ultimate" by way of the play store. Plus, there is a support or feedback thread for each here on XDA. If you were looking at using superbeam I would recommend picking up the pro key as well. The main app functions well on its own, like, the pro key adds just enough at the right price to say heck with it and pick it up for $3 or so. There are a couple different options to choose from before starting a file transfer, too. And I'm pretty sure+don't quote me+ that each option has a brief description of the way the files move from device to device. Also, there is a windows app to compliment. Last, certainly not least -SimPfile(also on play) I think using WiFi direct. Like, both devices need to be on the same WiFi network. Less options than superbeam, no pro key. And for what you pay for it, its free, BTW... It gets the job done if you are looking for a straight forward app without the bells and whistles. And just to name drop, FX file explorer has a small pay once add-on for media sharing also. Feeling adventurous? Tired of of the run of the mill apps? Give that a shot.... Its been in production and updated since either the end of GB or the beginning of ICS. Each of those apps has been good to me.✌?
just an edit - browsing xda app section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55878697
