Mods, if you agree feel free to move this thread. Personally though I feel it belongs right here. There's no better place to announce the impending release of a beta that alot of us have anxiously been waiting for.
EDIT: Oops, just a bit too late lol

I dont think this will be released in 2008. They just released Alpha 2.

Android 2.0 Rom?

Sooooo Since we have a ROM dump of the MOTO "DROID", is there anyone out there working on a build with the 2.0 system?
Can you guys stop with this asking about ports lol. post in the q&a...your question doesn't contribute to development what so ever. when its done you'll see it posted.
Only thing you could probably do is follow the tweets from the devs we have on here. Or you could always wait it out and see if someone does end up posting a alpha version to work on the G1.

Agreed.
Lock this thread? Yes. I believe it's time.
Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or simply search.......Final result will be a ban for you up too 3 days.
Thanks

omg he created a new thread,,, lets beat him senseless,, dood grow up. lol. did you need to actually reply to this thread?
this is a user end question about a rom that already has a dedicated thread full of similar questions which is where they're meant to be. if every single question like this was asked in a new thread then no one would ever find the threads on roms and development that are the reason this forum exists. general user questions either go in the general sapphire forum or go in the existing threads. end of, move on.

You think with 9 posts under your belt it would mean your saving them for posting something useful....obviously I'm wrong!

He's right though. If people at least post redundant questions in the right thread, then they don't clutter up threads where they shouldn't have been asked at all.
It also makes it easier to find the answers if the questions aren't spread everywhere.
In this case, however, confusion easily arises when the Cyanogen thread is in the Dream forum and you own a Sapphire. Not immediately obvious where to ask relevant questions.
My own strategy is to provide a concise, clear, useful answer to the immediate question and also add ad vice about how to handle future questions. I don't really understand people who posting in response and neither help nor provide useful advice. That IS a waste of time.
wow was it really that big of a deal what a welcoming community
thanks to you guys that didnt give me **** and answered the simple question. I'll be more conscious of where i post next time

People, including me, are a little bit sensitive about the development forum. This probably should've gone in the Q&A section as its not directly development related...also the cyanogenmod wiki is a very good resource that it seems a lot of new users don't know about.
You shouldn't be afraid to ask questions and I apologize that it has become like that. This community really is amazing.
Google, read the wiki, read the thread, post in Q and A, hit up #cyanogenmod on freenode, etc. There is a ton of support available - maybe steer clear of the dev forum - it gets ugly, as you've seen.
Welcome to XDA

will the release of the asus jellybean help out with cm10 and the likes?

as of yesterday it was to be within the next 72 hours right?
it'll be available tommorrow, and yes it will help with development.
FYI - wrong forum dude

Don't post much, okay, maybe never, maybe it's because people seem to love to be jerks around these parts
Common sense would seem to dictate that a question about the development of a custom ROM would fit in the...wait for it...DEVELOPMENT forum. You know, because the release of open source code for developers as it relates to development would fit in the development forum. Just saying.
</endrant>

So prior to posting, I decided to read the Announcements post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=1665). Apparently, I'm wrong.
"Development Forums (ones with the word development in the title)- For developers to post release threads e.g. ROMs, Kernels, and mods."
Ugh, I hate being wrong.
Yeah it helps to read the forums rules first. I still don't understand why this dev forum allows probationary users to post in it.

Well not everyone who's writing helpful things in the dev section is a dev or a recognized contributor.
Lol what is a probationary user?
probationary = less than 10 useful posts. it was implemented a while back to keep noobs from posting in the dev sections, although the rule doesn't seem to have been applied to this sub-forum. i imagine they did a blanket apply and any new forums created since then don't have it.

i assumed that since it was a question about future development, it would be reasonable to post it here. geez, sorry
Excellent.
Moved to the correct board....
To move to the topic at hand... Yes, I believe the release of JB will boost custom development. Source? I don't know, just a gut feeling. They will strip down the TF700 JB and work from there, compared to porting to JB from another model.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T
Keep an eye on the asus firmware site for the new kernel source.
Once that is released things should get interesting around here.

Rant..

So like...I have been a long time lurker on xda...but never post due to finding my answers by searching...and I bought the premium app and every day it seems I have to post 10 new posts just to be able to comment in a specific forum...pretty dumb...my time is more precious than $1.50 - considering getting a refund

These may count towards your 10 posts, but not if the mods decide that you are simply spamming to get your 10 posts - then they may delete these instead.
I don't agree with your perspective at all. I use TapaTalk to access XDA when I'm mobile, but I bought the XDA app to contribute to the upkeep of this great forum and to say 'Thanks' for all the help I've received from here, both before and since signing up as a member.
As for the refund - I think you'll find that you only have something like 15 minutes to apply for a refund through the Play Store.
Awesome...so you do agree, whether you are aware or not. I also purchased this app to be more efficient while mobile and to support this forum for all the help I have received.
My opinion is this though, I have been on this site long enough and with lack of stupid questions that can be found with a simple search...not to mention I've donated...therefore I think I've earned the privilege of being able to ask a question on a dev topic.
Thank you for helping to contribute to my posts. Without you, this may not have been possible.

Oh and as far as the refund goes, obviously I am not that worried about a buck fifty. This topic is titled 'Rant..' for a reason.
SGN2. Jedi X14. XDA Premium. Jelly?
By the way, what is your opinion of tapatalk? I used to have it a couple years ago, but didn't use it much back then...I may be incorrect but can't you access more forums than just xda on it?

You haven't "earned the right" to post anything in a Dev thread. If you have a question then you should ask it in your device's Q&A forum - that's what they exist for. Your 'opinion' carries absolutely zero weight towards anything on here.
If you really want to make your 10 posts then go and help out some other users - show off your knowledge rather than your attitude.
And considering that this post was a question you asked in a Development thread you obviously have no understanding of what development threads are for.
Lmao. Man, you are one easily worked up individual. Chill before your blood vessels burst.
This thread is under the general discussion topic which is under general discussion...and I believe we are generally discussing.
Now, why have you chosen to be a **** instead of telling me your opinion of tapatalk?
SGN2. Jedi X14. XDA Premium. Jelly?
I just looked at that post you linked to... it was meant for the developers of that particular rom and it was a question that would vary based on how the rom was designed. How is that seen as an incorrect place?
SGN2. Jedi X14. XDA Premium. Jelly?
If you had simply registered and then made a few posts helping people in your devices Q&A, maybe reading a few guides along the way, this wouldn't have been an issue. This topic has been brought up repeatedly and the answer is the same. Rant denied.
