Sooooo Since we have a ROM dump of the MOTO "DROID", is there anyone out there working on a build with the 2.0 system?
Can you guys stop with this asking about ports lol. post in the q&a...your question doesn't contribute to development what so ever. when its done you'll see it posted.
Only thing you could probably do is follow the tweets from the devs we have on here. Or you could always wait it out and see if someone does end up posting a alpha version to work on the G1.

Agreed.
Lock this thread? Yes. I believe it's time.
Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or simply search.......Final result will be a ban for you up too 3 days.
Thanks

I've googled about donut firmware and it seems to me that alot of people know alot about nothing. Can't find a release date or some say donut has this and that feature, then others say it hasn't. I've read that it's only coming to the newer android phone like hero and above.
Can anyone shed some light on the donut firmware?
Thanks
You could check out for your self in the donut release tree. There you will see all the features and whatnot. New might come, since it is still in the development.
Also wrong forum dude. General section is where this should go. Thread repported.

Can someone tell me the reason why i need 10 posts to post in developer forum?
Greets
Probably because they don't want people creating accounts and spamming those forums right off the bat. Keeping the dev forums more focused on getting things working than general chat and I need help etc. Just my view on it.
I thought it's stupid too, but after I realised how stupid people can be, I think it's a good idea. Just answer for a few questions here and you will have the 10 really soon.
thanks for posting this question so I can add another post to sum up to 10 or more posts to finally be able to participate where I would like to Rhobuntu on HTC TP2.
So silly - now they move from Ubuntu to Debian squeeze which is what I have running on my computer and next week I should have an HTC TP2 available for development only. Just - I cannot post !
Oh and I forgot the 5 minutes rule...

Don't tell me that!!
I've been posting around Q&A to reach those 10 posts because I want to ask and help on dev forums... :-(
Well, almost there, let me see what topic I can participate and then, if I keep being "blocked" off-of the dev forums...
There are very good reasons why the 10 post rule has been set up, a couple of which have been said above.
Why do you need to post in the dev section anyway? Are you a developer? If you arent and you create a new thread (question) it will probably get moved here.
If you are asking a question, the Q&A is the place
#justsayin
is right to by like this
I meant NOT right
I have 10 posts, why I still cannot post in the dev forum? need to aks about my issue

Because your ten posts were not helpful, they were spammy. And if you have a question, ask it in Q&A NOT Development. How hard is that to understand?
well, the question concerns a curtain app, so I would like to ask in the dev forum , where this ALREADY HAVE BEEN discussed in a special thread.
You might find that some of us here are quite knowledgable and therefore your answer could be easily obtained here without the need to post in the dev forums
Why dont you give it a go and ask here ?
Also, if your question has already been asked, there is in all probability an answer there; so eed to re-post the same question?
I can understand the rule but not your argument. What if he has been using an app that has its own topic in the dev forum and he wants to post a bug report or ask a question that hasn't been asked before. If it's about that specific thing it should go in that specific thread.

yes, you have a valid point. However i was trying to put forward the notion that far too many people post in the dev sections without properly researching first, hence the requirement for the 10 post rule.
Of course the OP may have a very genuine bug to report, if this is the case then can the OP let me know if he still cant postin dev and ill look into it.

not 100% true. I mean, when you use a ROM sometimes you want to exchange ideas with other users, make questions and even report bugs / make suggestions. you may not be a developer but in some way, everyone can be a beta tester! it doesn't make sense to star opening Q&A for CyanogenMod7 if you have a proper place in Developers Forum... And that's why I had to answer 10 things around (useful answers!) to use that section of the forums...
by the way, i don't know if the posts have to be useful, but i had access immediately to the dev forums...
hi, i'm a new user from spain, i need 10 posts to write on developers forums, where is in that forum the noobs place! thanks
I think it's a good idea. Learn your way around before posting/rambling on a devs forum. Think before you Speak.
well guess the builder of this forum tried to keep people stay here longer...or what else?
q. why cant i post to a threat that i have questions about because im new?
a. this forum sucks, thats why. full of stuck up douches who create garbage and then yell at people to" keep reading". thats because they have no clue how to fix the crap they put out.... yeah you magnus.

They do know how to fix it. Chances are, you didn't read the OP, or there are obvious compatibility issues. Common sense goes a long way.
Assholes like you that contribute nothing, don't look for an answer, and then ***** to someone that has put days, weeks, months worth of work into something, then give it away for free, are the ones that pollute this forum.
You hate the forum? Fine. Go away, we don't need you here. Grow up, learn to do a search & spend more than five minutes on it, then come here and post that question if you can't find the answer elsewhere.
This is a great forum, and while some members are assholes, most are very helpful. However, if you come off immature & hostile, you're going to be met with hostility.
Oh, and the real answer to your original question... they don't want people not knowing what they're doing, posting in the Dev section. You should try answering some questions in Q&A and help people out for a change.
I have to agree! I have been reading the developers section for months, and read peoples questions and actually have the answers!!!! I DO read, but still it tells me I have to post ten times before I can post in the developers section!! What a load of crap!! How can I contribute if I have my hands tied???

Come here, to the Q&A section and answer these questions. Answer the questions in the Q&A section for your device. You can post there. That's what I did, and still do. I'm just tired of people complaining about the rule, when instead they could be doing something about it instead of spamming the forums and whining.
Thread closed. I'm sorry to say but you have got the whole idea of XDA-Developers and it's ethos wrong. Maybe if you'd have searched and/or read more about this forum you would not post this flame thread.
Please don't repeat it. If you think this forum is garbage you are free to stop visiting it.
as of yesterday it was to be within the next 72 hours right?
it'll be available tommorrow, and yes it will help with development.
FYI - wrong forum dude

Don't post much, okay, maybe never, maybe it's because people seem to love to be jerks around these parts
Common sense would seem to dictate that a question about the development of a custom ROM would fit in the...wait for it...DEVELOPMENT forum. You know, because the release of open source code for developers as it relates to development would fit in the development forum. Just saying.

So prior to posting, I decided to read the Announcements post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=1665). Apparently, I'm wrong.
"Development Forums (ones with the word development in the title)- For developers to post release threads e.g. ROMs, Kernels, and mods."
Ugh, I hate being wrong.
Yeah it helps to read the forums rules first. I still don't understand why this dev forum allows probationary users to post in it.

Well not everyone who's writing helpful things in the dev section is a dev or a recognized contributor.
Lol what is a probationary user?
probationary = less than 10 useful posts. it was implemented a while back to keep noobs from posting in the dev sections, although the rule doesn't seem to have been applied to this sub-forum. i imagine they did a blanket apply and any new forums created since then don't have it.

i assumed that since it was a question about future development, it would be reasonable to post it here. geez, sorry
Excellent.
Moved to the correct board....
To move to the topic at hand... Yes, I believe the release of JB will boost custom development. Source? I don't know, just a gut feeling. They will strip down the TF700 JB and work from there, compared to porting to JB from another model.

Keep an eye on the asus firmware site for the new kernel source.
Once that is released things should get interesting around here.
I don't get why the D850 General thread has so many Roms posted in here. Can the Moderators please clean this up? Much appreciated.

The threads in the general sections are all the porting efforts of a non native English speaker who solely created an account to share these roms with us, as he typically only uses Google+, and others were having trouble posting for him. I imagine he didn't realize they should be in the other section. That all in mind, i agree the moderators should probably consider moving them to the development section. But it's not really hurting anyone, as this forum is a bit quiet of late anyhow. If the mods haven't deemed them worthy to move yet, there is probably a good reason for it. Just, try and ignore it for now, ehh?
And do we really need a thread stating the obvious...as stated above the dev speaks Spanish and has did us a favor. I am sure movement will eventually take place.
