what do I need to read and write chinese on this phone.

is there a program which will let me read and write chinese on the Tornado? I have a Imate sp5 rom. I dont want to flash a different rom on it, just something so I can read or write chinese. anyone knows thanks.

as far as I know there is no good Chinese Plug-in for windows mobile 5 smartphone.
There is only one file you can install for you to read Chinese in Directory. But not in IE.

This is the file...if you are using WM5 you need to change the registry
HKLM\software\microsoft\Fontlink\Systemlink\
Nina
change "\storage\windows\font....." to
"\windows\font....
HKLM\software\microsoft\Fontpath\
(there is only one string value here)
change "\storage\windows\font....." to
"\windows\font....
Then restart....
If you want to uninstall it, you have to use remove program first. Then go to \windows\font\ and change mshei.ttf nina.ttf to mshei.tt nina.tt. Then move them to direstory other than \windows\ and restart.
then delete those two files (otherwise those 2 files can not be deleted)

copy chinese font file(for example:sunfon.ac3) to your /windows folder
modify registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]
"Tahoma"="\windows\\sunfon.ac3,SC_Song"
"Courier New"="\Windows\\sunfon.ac3,SC_Song"

how do I modify the registry?

I have monster chinese (WM5 ver) with my reg code
too bad it's wasted (it's supposed to use with Dell X51v, but WM5 sucks)
mactiontech told me the monster chinese (core) for pocket pc can be used on smartphones
all I need is able to read Chinese on IE, WMP, and GSPlayer (WM5 ver can be used on SDA)

T9 romanian and english?

anyway i could get T9 to be romanian and english? anyone know how to do this?

- unzip files
- copy the files to \Windows\
- Import the "~import_registry.reg" file with Resco Explorer with Resco Registry plugin (resco.net)
- restart phone

Operating Change

I have the HTC Touch Cruise bought and wanted some change. The device but says that I do not have enough rights. The files in the Windows folder are all protected and can not change. Is there a program that allows you to edit the system files?

the files in ROM (system's files) you can not to change/delete

Download Total Commander for your pda, it's free.
With this you can change the file permissions and then you can access them.

Thank you for the tip with the Commander. However funtioniert it is not my problem. I wanted the file "animated.gif" exchange. This is, however, as "ROM". It is neither a change nor a rename the file attributes. Question of what else can I do?

Hi guys, I have this ambition to change the symbols in call history with ones that are colored.
I know that for this some Manila files should be changed, but I don't know where to start the search and what exactly to look for, so any advises would be more than appreciated. thanks

Hi there, files you're looking for are into windows directory, unfortunatly are marked as "read only" and the easiest way to replace them using Resco Explorer. Althought you can find .cab file here here.
Installing this you can keep original files into backup folder end restore when needed.

The cab is also on XDA forum but it replace the icons on phone menu not in the history...so I assume that the file for history is another one...this file I'm looking for but don't know how to find it...

You have to find and change some graphic file in windows directory. I'm using dutty's R5 so can't help you better.

Those files are located in phcanOverbmp.dll

I'm sure, but you need Unsigner.exe and ResHacker to replace/extract those files.

Ok, I found the dll and the resource files inside but I believe that this is for WM phone call history not the Manilla call history right...?

Keyboard layout returns to US

On my Maple, I have installed the 3VO ROM, and am very happy with it. Just one issue: having set up the German Keyboard layout, the phone returns from time to time to ths standard (US); no way to set German again with the Keymap config, i need to flash the ROM again, which is rather annoying.
Someone has any hint ?

You could always try to replace the US-keymap file, which I did to get my Swedish keyboard working, and softreset. The file is placed in the \Windows directory. First I renamed the original file (eT9.Maple.wwe.kmap.txt) and then copied my modified file from the storage card. I used Total Commander. Not shure the rename step was needed though...

Which program did you install? Is the keymap changed for only that application or the whole phone after installing that application? Have you tried to replace all the eT9.Maple.***.kmap.txt files with the German one (might not be best practice)?

tack! not used to smartphones without touchscreen. had a tp and hd earlier. Will try make a rom later on when i have more time on my hands.

Thank you for yuor interest, i reverted to the original WM 6.5 but am rather disappointed
The Keymap file is still there, and it seems to be the correct one as well. I think the problem arises when i install the Sygic Navigator, in Italian.
