Dear all,
I bought HTC Touch 3G from Singapore based Ebay seller. Now the handset is connected to Australian mobile network. In the left lower corner of 'Today' screen - there is 'StarHub TV' button. Probably the phone was originally ment to be on this Singapore network.
DOES anybody know how to get rid of this to make sure button 'phone' appears instead of 'StarHub TV'.
Thank you!
Ivan
You could change it with a registery tweak or get this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279544

Can someone tell me if it is (and how) possible to disable all other providers except for your own.
So when passing over the border preventing the htc wizard to select another provider (roaming).
I know it's possible to manual select a provider, but when it has no range it will (automatically) select another (roaming) provider.
I want only my own provider and if it's not available I want none at all.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to do this?
(windows mobile 5, HTC wizard)
hi
Sorry to bring back this old thread, but got exactly the same problem, and I didn't found an answer yet.
I leave in Switzerland, near the border with France.
As in Switzerland GSM transmitter have lower power than in France, my HTC Touch switch very often to french network and don't come back to home one.
So I want to completly disable roaming (any way can be used), and when travelling, I can switch roaming back on.
Any one can help me ?
Thanks

Hi
Nope, sorry it doesn't work.
I already set network on manual, but when "home network" is not available, phone switch to foreign one.
That's why I was asking if anybody got a solution.
Greetings.
HI,
I unlocked my Treo 750v and I'm now using it with Orange in France. The annoying thing I have noticed is that no matter how hard I try to change the voicemail speed dial button on the Today Screen it always reverts back to the voicemail number for SFR in France.
Anyone figured out how we can change that number so we can actually use the speed dial on key 1?
Thanks,
smmonla
This is all due to the service/app called PorkPie... Its the Network (settings)database engine, when a SIM is entered, it looks at the IMSI and provisions the relevant settings for that network to the device (GPRS, Voicemail etc).
Check the regkeys :
HKLM/Software/Palm/Varnish & HKLM/Software/Palm/Porkpie
I can only guess that when you enter a french SIM it then automaticly uses SFR (they are Vodafone right?)
HI,
thanks for you reply.
SFR is the vodafone partner in france.
How can I acces the regestry.
thanks

Hi
I have an HTC Touch Cruise that I bought over the Internet. It has worked perfectly with the phone operator that I have been with for the last 5 years.
I changed my phone operator: Changed the SIM card . I see the name of the new company on the screen (top left). I can use the phone, but cannot send SMS's. On the Connections Tab in the Settings I accessed the Connection Setup and the name of the original opertor still appears. In the Comm manager I went into the Phone Settings and on the Services Tab I pressed "Get Settings" for all the services. On the Network Tab the Current network is that of the new operator. I pressed on FIND Network button and the SET Network buttons and it seems that the current network is that of the new one, yet a message appears "Connection Setup. The operator does not exist on the database. Please contact your operator for connection settings. Connection setup will redirect you to the Connections screen". This message has appeared from the moment I changed the SIM card. The new operator does not not know how to help me. Can someone point me in the right direction? What does it mean that the "operator does not exit in the database"? How can I make it appear on the database?
Thanks
Brian
I suggest you state your current operator and country. Maybe someone can share the settings you should key in. Another option is too google something like: youroperatorname internet or gprs settings (that's how I did it for my wife last month). I remember there is a specific thread here at xda dealing only with these kind of settings. Another option is to look for the lastest version of htconfiguration tool in case it is already there (maybe you use an "old" rom). Good luck
Hi Cruiserrr
Thanks for your quick response. The operator is Orange and the country is Israel. I'll Google what you suggested. I'm using the original ROM.Can you remember the thread?Where do I find if there is a new version of the htconfiguration tool and how will it help my situation? And how would I use it/
Thanks
Brian
I typed in google "gprs settings orange israel" and had lots of links. eg here at xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=218329. Maybe the first one does not work since the link maybe old. Try a few posts and you should be up and running in a few minutes.
htcconfiguration tool ??? I think I invented myself the name. I am referring to the same app you mentioned connectionsetup (htc made)-
this is the part of the forum where you should look for gprs settings http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=262
Cruiserrr
Thanks for the info. I'll check out your leads in the morning and I'll let you know how it went.
Once again, Thanks

hello there guys, i had my moto x pure edition for about a day ago bought it from US, i plugged a simcard and it was working pretty well but i was not getting LTE, i thought maybe could be settings.. so i dialed *#*#4636#*#* to go change settings from there, so i selected LTE only and still couldn't get LTE there is an option at the top right corner that says select radio bands and there are three options (USA,PCS,CELLULAR) what i did is select USA band and from there my phone says no service, tried changing simcards, tried factory reset none seemed to work, i can see the simcard detects but still says no service just a blank network bar icon. so what could be wrong here please help as it was working perfectly fine, Currently i live in East Africa. sorry for my bad English hope im understood
anyone?
Hello,
I hope my title will help to find this topic.
In fact, I'm looking from year a solution to force or help my phone to choose the operator / Carrier I want.
Before, I had a phone plan without roaming and my phone (Samsung Galaxy S7) alway search to connect to my home operator and drain the battery !
Now I have an internationnal phone plan and even when I am in the other country my phone continu to connect to my home opertor even if the roaming opertaor is better.
The automatic search take time and finish with the same operator that before most of the time. And the manuel search take to much time (during that I can't use my phone) and when I came back at home, my phone loose the connection of course.
So is there a way to use easely a phone near a border ??
I think that Xposed could help me but I read the description of the module (https://repo.xposed.info/module/net.caze.roamingcontrol) and it doesn't change the way that the automatic search works or create a list of prefered operator ordered.
15 year ago I had a phone from Philips witch offer this functionnality, I'm quite optimist that a solution is possible.
Thanks in advance for you help.
Regards

Samsung Galaxy S7 should have the feature to automatically switch the mobile network provider.
Check settings - connections - mobile networks - network provider ... select the option to automatically switch.
Hello, of course you can choose the automatically switch in S7 but it doesn't work. When you choose this option (and you have to do manualy) if you a provider is avaible the phone will keep this one even if it's not your prefered or the most powerfull. The automacally connection works only when you have lost your actual provider.
