Why flash radios? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

What is the purpose of flashing a different radio?

Do radios help wifi signal strength?

Anybody???

#1: Better reception, less battery consumption, better GPRS/3G connection quality... lotsa reasons
#2: Nope, don't think so

well whats a good radio for att fuze?

I want to try the xperia radio but I haven't heard back from olipro. wish I had a way of donating to him but I'm only 14

Google Checkout or Paypal accept debit cards.
I'm sure as you've got a Touch Pro you could afford the £15 and use your parents card to pay and then give them the money.
The radios can affect WiFi signal strength, too. But IMO it was definitely worth it flash the Blackstone radio which gave me much better battery life. I'm testing the Xperia radio now.

Hey all can a radio flash improve or strenghten ear speaker amplification and overall sound quailty through the ear speaker?
tia

bump, anyone?

A radio can improve (or degrade) the sound quality during a phone call or the bluetooth quality f.e. But as far as I know not the overall sound output.

Hows the FM Radio?

Well my pair of fuzes should be arriving on Monday or Tuesday so I'm beginning to wonder about some of the other hardware parts. I keep reading that the FM Radio uses the headset as an Antenna. I have a Hermes and the included abysmal headset that came with that, and I have so little intention of using the one that I'm about to get it might make small children cry, so heres the question of the day:
Does the FM Radio work acceptably without the headset? If not, does it work with an adapter and *REAL* headphones?
Not a deal breaker either way, but it would be cool to know.
Hi, I've a Touch Pro on Vodafone UK flashed with ROMeOS² Italian Rom (just to let you know ). I'm using on it the headset controller that i had with my previous phone, an O2 Stellar (Tytn2) and a Sennheiser CX300. Absolutely no problem, and the sound looking great!
Now on your other questions.FM Radio is not working without headset, so you have to put them in the plug, and then FM Radio program will start. Otherwise, if for you is a problem having headset inserted in the phone, you can buy an headset controller (on ebay have a really low price!).
About the headset quality, I had before of Touch Pro, a tytn and a tytn2, and can confirm that the quality is the same, so I never used those!
PS: sorry for my english, I hope you undertand what I'm saying!

Thanks alot! that actually answers everything.
Dont worry, I've read my fair share of very broken english, you're miles ahead of many people.
I've had trouble getting stations in clearly using a variety of headphones, but it does work.

I live fairly close to New York City, so this may in fact be a YMMV. How far off are most of your radio stations?
better then the diamonds radio
Radio program works great for me. It just depends on what kind of area you are in like the poster said a few above me with buildings in NYC. Headphones are ok that I got with my Hermes.
The other route to take of course is streaming radio but that will probably take more battery life than FM.
i DL the one for the fuse and my headset doesnt work as an antenna..... i wonder if i used another phone headset if i could pick up any other radio stations????
is there a cab file for the fm radio?

I recently was passing by Phoenix AZ and picked up an FM station when I was about 150 miles away and held it until I was 150 mile past Phoenix. Maybe the conditions were just perfect, maybe my headphones are a very effective antenna but whatever the reason, I was impressed with the performance.

It works great, you need a adapter for your headphone though. It comes with the phone.

same thing here. i live on the outer edge of houston and can barely get my 2 favorite stations with my car but with my fuze its loud and clear full signal. ive been thinking of ways of hooking my phone into my car just for fm radio. poor iphone users dont know what they are missing.
Got my Fuze, Loving the hell out of this thing but the FM Radio isnt quite what I had hoped. Its not awful, its just not great either. Oh well.

Strictly speaking that's not true - mine works fine on 'speaker mode' with just one of these in it.
I use some retractable ear buds (also from ebay) & it works fine. I get a good signal on most UK stations of note.
I also stream world radio from the links posted here here, which is fine for talk radio even at GPRS "2 bar" speeds using Windows Media Player and in comparison of course, the FM player is much better.

Can anyone boost the FM radio volume through the earphones?

Please, my eyes bleed from reading in the forum, but as far as I can tell noone has succeeded...
I am looking for a tweak or cab or ROM or anything that can boost the audio output of the FM radio through the earphones!
I have tried everything and nothing works.
It is important to me because I ride motercycles and I want to be able to listen to the radio.
Thanx to everyone for the great work you are doing here!
Link
And you might search for a lesson in googling as well
I ride a motorcycle as well, and I think listening to the radio while riding a bike is just outright dangerous. But that's just me
Ouaou thanks! You are great!
But none of these work.
Audiopara increases all the sounds except the radio through the earphones. I have tried it.
If you could use your skills in helping people rather than making fun of them you would be much appreciated.
currently no one has been able to increase the vol on the FM radio i think that it is more of a hardware limitation than software, i could be wrong and yes all volume boast cab, and audiopara files does not work on FM Radio, i guess we got to to wait and see
I guess a setting in audioparam3.cvs can change volume for FM raido.
Some version of Energy ROM has very low FM volume and very loud mp3 volume but it has been improved a lot.
Thank you both for the answers.
So flywhc are you saying that if I change ROM, since I am currently using ENERGY, the radio might be louder?
Because the stock ROM was equally low volumed as ENERGY ROM
I believe it is related to some settings in the ROM so some ROM has louder volume some has lower.
I guess settings are written in audioparam3.cvs

You should consider one of the Bluetooth helmet headsets, like the Parrot SK4000, or the Cardo Scala Rider with Radio.
I have the Parrot and it is awesome...
Thank you, but its a rather expensive solution, although much safer...
Besides I use 3 different helmets, according to what I am driving and the outside tempereture and weather, so it would be a lot of trouble to adjust the bluetooth to another helmet every time!
I tried itech clip radio bluetooth that was cheaper but it was impractical and had a very poor sound quality.
After all apart from me many would benefit if someone could come up with a solution.
search this forum and play with that audioparam3.csv you may get a solution.
alternatively you can change a better 3.5mm earphone. I am using SonyEricsson w series phone earphone. It has much better quality and loud. It may be dangerous for driving because it blocks noise!
Thank you. I started messing with audiopara and I will see if I can make anything out of it.
I also use 3.5 mm earphones. Sennheiser, noise canceling also!(I know it is stupid and dangerous, but I am addicted!)

I also use noise cancelling earphones (senheisser). I know it is stupid and dangerous but I am addicted!
Thank you. I have started playing with audiopara but my hopes are down...
I also use a noisecancelling set (sennheiser). I know it is dangerous and stupid but I am addicted!

in the start. poor gps. great fm radio. now. decent gps. poor fm radio

my phone is stock. never altered. nothing cooked or unlocked.
in the begining i had poor laggy gps. and that was the only down side to the phone... for me anyway lol.
now the gps is considerably better 10 satalites and spot on.. not 50 feet to the north. however my fm radio used to work perfect. now it only picks up parts of one station. and the quality of the ear speaker is garbage. not sure if the changes happened all at once or one at a time. i have never altered the built in radio all stock attt fuze rom and software.radio cab and thats it. recently hard reset to see if it would help... nope. i cant understand people. the ear speaker quality is so bad that i have to use speaker phone to talk sometimes.
any suggestions. thanks guys.

Headset bluetooth connection problem

Hi friends, i bought yesterday a bluetooth samsung hm1500 headset (2.1 bt + edr)
http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/samsung-hm1500-bluetooth-27371p.html
and i can't connect with tg01. The phone cannot detect it. I tried everything for hours , tried with all available roms but still nothing.
Can anyone help please ?
Use the traditional problem solving procedure
1) Test your new headset with another phone (friend, relative....)
2) Test your TG01 with another Bluetooth device
Good luck! Tell us the results
Motorola are the best
Bluetooth headphones are real fussy. Motorola's pretty much work with everything I've found.
Thanks friends for the replies, i send it back, doa, i tried with 3 other mobile phones and nothing with noone conected only with my laptop was possible to connect, very special bluetooth.
Has anyone found a bluetooth headset that one can have a decent conversation with others without having problems of not being heard loudly? I have two headsets, a cheap ebay hong-kong one and a Nokia BH-215. People complain hearing me very low with both. If i get away from the phone but within the bt radius things get even worse and don't get better even if i get close to the phone again. I think it's because of the phone and not the headset.
Did you try SRS 3 cabs install?
No but i used it once and i remeber that it messed up my bt connection. But that was back in 6.5.x rom. Maybe i''l give it a shot now that i'm on 6.1.

Kevin i bought one but still connection tends to lose sound quality with too much "noise garbage" in it. Can you tell me with which radio have you been using it with? Is it the 1600 of the rom in your signature?
Thanx

Hi Jonous,
I'm using it with the other radio - what was effectively the 'Italian' stock radio 0300.76
It's difficult to compare notes with this sort of thing remotely... but I'd confrm that there is 'some' degree of background noise present even on this high-end BT headset device when compared direct to a hard wired uUSB connection (into the same earphones - per my sig). Like any audio device, I'd recommend keeping the volume level on any element in the chain to < 60% in order to keep noise down.
DEspite the above, I'd regard the MW600 as a quite capable piece of kit in conjunction with the TG01 giving extra flexibility - but it is a trade-off to some extent with quality.

Hehe i feel like an idiot, i enbarked on an endless journey of flashing and flashing different radios and trying out the sound quality of each one cause bt headset is very important for me. When i got to 0300.76 suddenly sound was crystal clear! On the 1st test call. On the second call i was bearly heard, crappy sound again. Then it it struck to me...I remembered that sometimes when you press the answer call button of the headset the sound is transfered to the phone...I thought "no it can't be...if this is it i'm a real idiot!!!" And yes, when i pressed the button again sound was transfered to the headset and sound was magnificent! So the lousy sound i got with all other roms was because i was trying to be heard through the phone's micrphone which was some 2-3 away from me hahaha so other end of line heard little or nothing.
Well enough said, this headset is brilliant, loud n clear sound, caller id, fm radio everything! well almost, i wish it had vibration too but don't care, i'm happy with my buy! Thanks again

You are most welcome - I'm delighted you are up and running and happy with the S-E MW600 headset. There are so many variables with these things as well as the subjective element wjhen it comes to perceived audio quality that it is difficult to translate one person's experience to another. Great news
the Sony MW600 is really great !
But don´t forget to increase the bitrate of the streaming codec.
I modified/added this values in HLKM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings
BitPool 65
MinSupportedBitPool 65
MaxSupportedBitpool 65
SampleRate 48000
SubBands 8
Blocks 16
Allocation 1
UseJointStereo 1
Unfortunately Track names are not submitted like with SE or some HTC phones
Hi Friends!!!
I have also the same problem with a BT car.
And the problem is like it´s been described (sound very loud in the microphone)....
I remember that in my I780, I changed some settings (don´t remember if it was in Hardware or registry).
Anyone had a solution?

Then, use intenet radio.

Actually, I misspoke. I was thinking of digital radio, which many stations are now supporting and is gaining some popularity (as far as broadcast radio goes) in the US.
FM radio is a dying breed in the US, not just because of MP3, but because FM stations have been hijacked by corporate radio (i.e. Clear Channel) which limits stations to tightly playlist controlled "formats" - Emetic Easy Listening, Soporific Soft Rock, Headache Metal, Un-hip Hip-Hop, The-Same-30-Songs-You-Heared-3000-Times Classic Rock...

yes i thought that...
you could use Tune-in Radio form market. Radio inet online without antena
If you want to listen to FM radio, you need an external antenna I think
You know, its funny, but i had a $99 LG prime, prepaid phone from att. It has an fm radio and doesn't need the head phones as an antenna. So it is possible. I don't know why all phones don't have it..... that was the only good feature about the phone, and its reception was awesome.

Because it's ineffective. Having an antenna equals more signal strength in radio. If you live in middle of a city, then I would not think that we need an antenna.
Looks like the 20 last years of my life the technology did great things but unfortunately the IQ of ppl drop dramatically.
The only thing that mobile phone companys should do is to create cellphones with build in antenas of the best quality materials and make those antenas able to extend. ffs. U can do it easy and ppl will buy easier.
