Very nice shot and panorama stitch but please... there is no such thing as fuze photos. There might be mobile photos and pro photos, there is no point to focus on brand/model specific photos

Fire Training
Here is a pic I snapped at a Firefighter Survival training I attended.

I took this picture off a customer's balcony, great view in Dawsonville GA looking south toward ATL

Yes, there is a point to focus on brand/model specific photos.
The idea is to share photos made with the same device, to compare quality and find the best camera settings.

I think he was saying it should be TP not Fuze. I think the only TP that has anything dif about the cam is the Sprint one and its just the lack of the filter over the lense because the battery case is sealed.

damn these pics look good...I forgot that this is armed with a 3.2mp camera until now haha.

Just thought I'd ask a friendly group here, since you guys have your panorama working. When i switch to panorama on my phoneand attempt to take a photo it says, "Camera: Unable to capture photo. Disk full." I'm using 3GB of my 8GB card, so I know there is room on my card. I also tried saving it to main memory with no luck. I also tried switching it to the lowest quality and resolution, all with the same results. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone know whats going on? I am having the same problems

Could it be that the new rom update messed up the Panaroma function?

Cant be, because when I flashed it I could still take panoramic pictures after, something happened recently that I cant figure out

the picture quality on this phone is amazing. Camera phone has come a long way since the Nokia American Idol version...lol

OIS & Hand Held Pictures

I'm not too sure how this is supposed to work. I can get my camera to take some really sharp shots IF I hold my hands extremely steady - usually resting on something. Otherwise, the pictures are simply not as crisp. Isn't OIS supposed to help with this?... is it possible my OIS isn't working properly, or is it just a fact of having to be perfectly still for a perfect shot regardless? And my hands aren't "shaky" by any means.
I have shaky hands and am yet to take a crap photo with my N5, so I assume the OIS is working as intended.
Either that or knowing that the phone has OIS is a placebo cure for my unsteadiness

You're not alone. The vast majority of N5 owners have noticed the ridiculously long shutter speeds. Action shots are almost impossible with this phone, but it will take excellent photos with lots of background light.
Maybe I'm spoiled coming from a Galaxy device but Samsung's shutter speeds are instantaneous.

What is the correct way to take a pic on a phone? Landscape?

Hello,
For all the pro's out there. How do you shoot the best pics? Landscape or? I know its a dumb question but I just want to know how you all shoot?
Thank you

What exactly are you asking? A camera is a camera, so photography basics are the same. Choosing landscape or portrait orientation depends on the subject and composition.
As for best camera settings, some of us are still trying to figure that out. In general, you want as much manual control as possible, but some of the "PRO" setting settings are proving to be poor/inaccurate, which is unfortunate as that looked to be the best way to gain control of the camera. Luckily, the AUTO setting tends to make good choices, but I'll continue to test other modes.
BUT... always take VIDEOS landscape/horizontal. Just say no to vertical video.

Which is a rather ignorant answer, if you are trying to take a portrait of a person, capture a still of a tall landmark, or one of other hundred of reasons to take a portrait oriented photo.
And just because our field of view is ~equal to a 50mm lens, does that mean we should only use that, and never experiment with wider or telephoto lenses...?

Obviously there are exceptions to every rule, but he didn't ask about specific situations, or specialized equipment now did he? He asked on his phone. In general you want to take a picture in landscape mode.
Thanks for the answers all. I know it was dumbo question but I basically just wanted to know how you all shoot with this great camera. I text pictures a lot to fam members and Im coming from an iPhone and ran into some issues with the way the photos were being sent and viewed.
Thanks much

Hence 'In general'. And the same can be said about vertical video, but Google camera app completely blocks that, so....

Again, says who? In my general, i take just as many portrait shots (friends, family, neat things outside) as i do actual landscape shots. There is no "in general".. there is only the right orientation for the picture at hand. If you really feel that every shot should be landscape, knock yourself out, but you are missing alot shooting only one way.

You led with "rule". Hence "There is no 'rule'..."
That said, photos are not "generally" taken in landscape. It is completely dependent on subject, composition, and artistic choice.
As for vertical video, I never claimed there was a rule, but 40+ years of video and 100+ years of motion pictures are horizontal, so it is the accepted orientation. We've had "vertical video" for less than 5 years now, and it only makes sense if you are watching the video on a phone; anywhere else and it's idiotic.
The answer depends on the scene you're trying to capture. If you want a wide shot or your subject requires a wider angle, usually landscape is better. If you're taking a picture of a single person or a tall object, then portrait is the way to go. This is my opinion, of course.
Not sure why people are giving strange (some, impolite) answers to your question. There are no stupid questions, really.

Use an exif viewer to get the unique id of a photo. You can see in mine where is says LS. That means it's a Sony. If it says LL then it's an isocell.
My Verizon Galaxy S6 32GB Black shows LS with ExifViewer thank goodness, if it was Samsung sensor ISOCELL this phone would be back on Swappa. Clearly Sony IMX 214 sensor is better from all those comparison photos.
Still bummed that mine is isocell.
Verizon Galaxy S6 64 GB Black shows LS.
Thanks for the tip on how to check.
isocell on mine, works fine, really don't see what the big deal is. Not like most users are professional photographers. Many don't even know basic photography framing and shot selection.
The camera is better than any other camera I've had on a smart phone hands down. Refreshing to take a picture and the phone actually takes the picture rather than waiting for a while to make up its mind doing it.
**** mine is ISOCELL. gay! @MKBHD shoulda gave us a heads up what to look for! i got this phone cuz of his review!

Kinda dumb comment. Most likely didn't know at the time of his review that there were different types. Full research of the phone is your responsibility before you buy. Why didn't you know what to look for assuming it really matters.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the isocell. I owned both and they take some of the best photos I have seen from a smartphone. I recently tried multiple DSLR's and could not justify keeping any on them after comparing hundreds of photos. This is just one of many I have. There is no need to get bummed out because you don't have the Sony, it's pretty much a ego thing the way I see it. I am speaking of my former thoughts on the different sensors before the ego thing gets misinterpreted. Take a look and be happy....

Here is another way to check what sensor you have without installing a EXIF viewer. Upload the pic to your computer, right click it, click on properties and then the detail tab. It will be under image ID.

Looks like front is isocell and back is Sony?

Is the camera worth it?

I really love the Oneplus 6, top to bottom, don't care the missing of the stereo speaker or the notch (cause OOS seem to deal with it quite good)
The only issue keeps me from buying it is the camera. I have seen a lot of reviews and comments about the camera and they are pretty mixed which confused me.
I need the phone to last for about 3 years or so and I mainly use it when I travel and to takes photos. I heard that there are updates that fix things but still read that there are issues.
Can you guys give me your own opinion about the camera and if I should go for it or move to the Galaxy S8 plus?
P/s: quite sure that I will try to use Gcam instead on both phone, have it on my old phone and it absolutely surprised me cuz the image came out quite nice for such an old phone.
Not a fan of any brands (except Iphone which I don't really like, but I do like Ipad and I don't hate Apple by any means) so if you have other recommendation under $500 then feels free to say, so far I only see these 2 are the best for what my budget can buy.
Thank you for your helps.
It's right there with the best cameras. It beats then in certain shots and they beat it on certain shots in the comparison tests. I still think it might be a hair behind the likes of the s9, pixel 2xl and I think it's better then the iPhone overall. It's close in low light to them, as good if not better in good light and it handled the bright areas better then dinner of this phones in not blowing out the highlights.
I have zero complaints and I'm an enthusiast photographer. Unless I'm doing a wedding or something really important, I have no issues using this camera. It more then does the job. Of course you can get a shot it doesn't handle well, but every PHONE is the same way. None will replace a dslr

Wow glad to hear from a photographer, I would definitely pick OP 6 if I don't mind the camera as I used to, but planned to go on multiple vacations with it and personally loves to take scenery photos so your reply helps a bunch.
Gonna take another look and get the OP 6. My friend has a deal for it with about 100$ off
No, it's not worth it. Theres bad oil painting effect in low light. Pics are very hit and miss, some are great, some are awful and now I have dust under the lens and I have a black spot I can't get rid of on photos. I certainly couldn't recommend it.

Its not bad. On my recent trip to Canada and USA, I packed my Nikon 850. I took over 1200 pictures during my 2 weeks vacation. I might have used my Nikon for less than 75 shots. Convenience of phone camera outweighs the hassle of lugging a complete system. Unless you are taking pictures for a luving, this phone camera will be more than suffice to satisfy your shutterbug needs.
I strongly believe that it's not the camera but eye behind the camera that make or break the picture. If you are little dissatisfied with extremely low light shots, you can enhance in post production. Make sure to keep HDR option on. I had S8+ abd my wife still has S9 and I can tell you from a bormal viewing distance, you could not tell the difference apart. Remember, you can always switch to pro camera mode for better control. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I do really understand why you bring the links here but seriously I read all of those (except the video one since I'm not fond of that anyway, have like 1 or 2 videos taken with my 2.5 years old phone) and it's really confusing, some said good some said bad (and they do have evidence)
I check on xda (which tbh my trusty place to find user experience) and they are mixed.
I check on youtube with those reviewers I think that are not bs, and it's still mixed.
I check all those reviews on the internet and other forums, and it's still mixed.
I don't usually do these Q&A on XDA (this actually my first) because this is just too hard to decide this time.
Thanks you for your help but it yet solve my confusions.

I'm still yet decided if I stick with Samsung software or move to a custom rom since they both have pros and cons (and somehow I find the S8 forum is not really active?)
but I totally love the experience that I saw on the OP 6 so far.

I am not sure who and why they are saying about the dust issues. Absolutely no dust issues here. Previously posted shots are the proof. You would have noticed diffraction if there was any dust. To put your mind at ease, spend $2 and buy tempered glass lens protector on Amazon, eBay, or Aliexpress. I dont even use cover or screen protector for my phone (never have used for the last 15 years or so). Rather than worrying about protecting, enjoy by actually using the gadget-my two cents worth advice.

Please help chosing a phone that dont make face droopy and longer

Hi
Can you please recommend me a phone that wont distort my face a lot and wont make It look long and droopy?
I know all phones have some face distortion of the front camera, but my last 2 phones Xiaomi Redmi 7 and Huawei P9 Lite Make a huge distortion and deform the face. They make the face very long and like if I have a square jaw and droopy lower face jowls. I Am 21 Years old so i don't Have any jowls or droopy face in real life, I even visited a plastic surgeon who told me my face looks fine, and it is phone distortion. I hace try my front camera on my parents and friends and it distort and deform their faces too.
The distortion is very big, not just a Little bit, and it is happening on videos with the front camera as well.
I have not been able to upload pictures to my Instagram due this problem for the Last 2 Years.
I want to change my phone, but I dont want this problem happening again, and I dont know which phone should I buy., I want a phone that take normal pictures, so I can use them in social media.
The only feature I care about the phone I want to buy is that it does not deform the face extremely, and it does not elongate it, I dont care about any other feature.
I hope someone can advice me, thanks in advance.
Change the shot angle and/or distance.

Thanks , I have try with all shot angles and distances ( desperate not to be able to upload a single picture on Instagram, so I spent many hours taking pictures from all angles and distances) , and it does not help, even with a selfie stick it make the head and the face super long and skinny ( both Xiaomi and huawei phones), the face look more like an ugly cartoon than like a normal girl. I am sure it is a lens problem, as I never had that problem with any of my previous phones. That is why I want to buy a new one. The faces of instagram influencers are not elongated or deformed, so there must be some brand phones that dont cause that problem. Even if I try an Instagram vídeo with ig filter the face look distorted.

Absolute correct: It's never the camera what malfunctions, but depending on the lighting or distance from the camera, one looks different.
It is due to the inability of OP to photograph properly.
OP should use the rear camera, move away from the camera and zoom in 2x-3x, then the elongated face will disappear.

That is interesting, but i need a phone that I can use the front camera, as I want to use real time filters and real time digiital make up while I do videos, and see which poses and facial expresions am I doing before taking my pictures, I dont want to take pictures with the rear camera, and mostly any girl use rear one when taking pictures and videos for social media, and my other previous phone did not have this problem, so I am sure some phone brands dont distort the face as much as my Xiaomi and Huawei. I had a Sony Xperia before that took nice pictures with the front camera.
I will try moving the camera away and zoom it, but still want a new phone that dont distort so much.

When you take a photo of yourself using some ( but not all ) apps or the front-facing camera on a phone, the resulting image captures your face as others see it: it's not the image you see when you look into a mirror.
That's why so many people are horrified when they see photos of themselves.

This is not the case of my phone problem, as I have had tons of mobiles sinceramente I was 10 years old, and I am used to see myself in pictures. I am not comparing myself with the mirror image!!!! I look fine on my friends phones and in my previous phones, my mom has the same phone than me and have the same problem, she takes pictures fron my aunty phone to be able to upload them.
I am not asking how to fix the phones cámaras, I am just asking which brand and model dont have this problem to buy it, the distorsión on my phones is not just a little bit like the pictures you uploaded, it is a huge distortion, whhen my friends try my phones it distort their face big time too .
Any young girl and many middle aged women spend really a lot of time taking selfies, so we all know how we normally look in phones. It is not my first phone or the first time I take a front camera picture as to freak out cos I look different than the mirror.
I upload a picture ,( not me, but a guy who wortte an article about this subject) but an example of my problem.
My face in other phones look maybe like the 2nd picture, on my phone it looks completely distorted ( not a bit) like the Last picture of the guy. And uy look like that fron far away too. not only in me, buy anyone using my phone look deformed in the picture or video.
I just want a phone that the lens is not so screw up that deform the face completely.

Thanks very much! Can you please delete the thread or my account here, I dont find a way to do It, and I am fed up of having immature men old enough to be my father or my grandfather trying to bully me and make fun of me.
I would love to delete my post as obviously I am not going to get any help, and my post seen to attract people who like to bully and are very rude.

Good morning, XDA universe! Allow me to commence the day with a radio... hmmm... Moderator Announcement!
Within less than 12 hours after the last thread cleaning by my esteemed team mate @mrjuniork I had to clean it again! And believe me, enough is enough!
Members, and it doesn't matter if mature, long-time or really new ones, who post a question do that because THEY have a quite often serious problem that might be none for others or could be neglected in other member's views.
But we're happy that new people permanently find their way to XDA in order to ask their questions and to seek support here. We do encourage this!
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do so. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably quite a few people with less experience than you, who could benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.

If you can't or don't want to follow above guidance just move on without posting. But if you post do it without making jokes of the enquirer or by belittling somebody. Be aware that both can be read as disrespect towards a XDA member and might lead to consequences to an account.

@Sonia2001 A very warm welcome to XDA; I do hope that you always get the support and assistance you require although you obviously currently have a different impression. Please consider to have a look at some other threads in this forum or all the other Q&A fora and see that usually the expectations of the authors are met. I'm convinced this will eventually also the case for your current one but also for all your future threads.
I'm very and honestly sorry to read your decision especially after you just joined yesterday. I'd really appreciate if you reconsider your decision. It's indeed as you stated you can't delete your account; even a moderator can't do. It always requires an administrator for that. I'd sincerely regret if you leave XDA but unless you decide to remain a XDA member, please use this form to request a GDPR compliant deletion of your account:
