o2 serra, which rom works - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi, sorry if this is a basic question, but i have recently purchased an o2 serra, and I am having the usual gps and radio problems.
I have seen that there is a german o2 rom available, but as I am in the uk will this work ok.??
Which is the best rom/roms that I should use on this device.

I've used the ROmeos2 1.40.1 ROM and am now using the Proven ROM 1.04. Both offer more functionability than the stock o2 one, and I'd recommend you trying either to find one you like. To get the GPS working on the Romeo ROM I installed GPSTest and let it run for about an hour to fix on the satellites. Once it had got a fix once, it can consistently fix now in about 10-20 seconds. I did the same process on the Proven ROM, but used the included VisualGPS tool.
Also have a look at the registry tweaks for GPS which helps too.
EDIT: Also, there doesn't appear to be a stock o2 UK ROM available, and it also appears several people would like it (here). Perhaps you could be so kind as to upload the stock ROM?
Thanks

is the o2 serra an CDMA phone or a gsm
Hi guys
Sorry to sound stupid, but is the O2 Serra phone, is it a CDMA phone? or a GSM phone?

mda vario3 no gps fix with all roms here

i tried all the roms present in this forum (wich are much better than mine in every aspect) but with my german t-mobile vario 3 there is no way to obtain a gps fix, only with its original rom ( 1.56.00.00 , radio 1.27.12.11)
does anybody has a solution ? Thanks a lot
I bought a Vario III here in China supposedly meant for the European market (or HK) I flashed with Duttys v4, 199 version 6.1 and his 716 UC and on all three I could get a lock in short time... did you use gps tool or gps test and Quickgps?
Have u tried changing radios

When on 3G it's impossible to make/receive phone calls

Hello, I've searched through the forum but I wasn't able to find a similar problem.
When my Polaris is connected to 3G it's impossible to:
_make/receive phone calls
_send/receive SMS
I've tried with several SIM cards, even with one that I use on 3G every day on another phone. No way to make my Polaris work.
The only way to phone is to force it to connect to GSM (G icon), doing this I can phone and send sms normally. It also works when connected to Edge (E icon).
I have an original italian ROM:
R 1.58.21.23
G 25.65.30.04H
D 1.25.00.00
Same problem is being reported by other 3 italian users, we all have the same R 1.58.21.23.
Any of you have any idea on how to fix the problem?
Do you think that flashing Murata radio rom could help?
Many thanks in advance. I don't know what to do.
same problen in spain
I have the same problem in South of Spain. In 2G (GSM) yes, but in 3G is impossible today. Anybody else?
I have the same Radio, Protocol version... And works fine. 2 out, 1 to go, I'd say there's a problem whith the original ITA ROM...
Did you try a Hard Reset to fix it? If you did was the fix only temporary? If so, there are two options...
warranty
Cooked ROM
Thanks for the answers!
Yes unfortunately even after hard-reset it doesn't work.
Apparently there are different 1.58.21.23 Radios according to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2171454#post2171454
I was wondering if it's worth to try the "Murata 1.58.21.23 Radio" which seems to be an official HTC Radio issued for russian customers and which seems to solve reception problems.
I could try it and if it doesn't work I could go back to the original 1.58 and original SPL.
I'm a little scared to install a cooked ROM instead, I bought the device 1 month ago, I'm still in warranty.
Thanks
I had the same problem and found only one solution: warranty replacement
HTC replaced my Cruise's motherboard and now it is working like a charme.
I'm living in Rome, Italy and they took 2 weeks for replacement.
Good luck!
At this point I'll send the device back to HTC for warranty replacement, I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks Cloudlord!
Ciao
Search the other forums (e.g. Kaiser/TyTN II) for the 3G problem. I had it with a Kaiser and they also told me that a motherboard replacement was needed. I changed the unit to a TC which did not have the problem.
The problem seems more than common...

Vodacom & TyTn II Radio/ROM

I have a strange problem with my TyTn II (brought over from Vodafone UK) and now trying to run on Vodacom in SA.
Everytime I hang up a call the connection status changes from EDGE to 3G and then I get "No Service"! It re-connects about 5 mins later but sometimes it only says it is "connected" but I can't receive calls or make calls.
I'm running one of the HyperDragon III ROM's (stunning ROM) and I have tried almost all the radio upgrades out there.
Does anybody have the same prob?
Or could any south africans not experiencing any problems using the TyTn II on Vodacom Network perhaps let me know what their set-up, ROM and Radio software versions are.
Much appreciated.
Thanks
Currently:
TyTn II
ROM: HD_III_Portege WWE (3.sj.hd.03)
Radio: 1.65.17.56
have you tried turning off the 3g with the comm manager? try making a call that way and see what happens
Have you tried asking this question in the hyperdragon thread in case it is rom related? If not you need to do so or try to flash another rom to your phone and see if you still get the same problem. If you think it was a radio problem you could ask in the radio thread which is very informative.
sd73ta,
Thanks that does solve the imediate problem. Tho it would be nice to have the 3G work
Cheers
Tytn II SA

spider 24 & matthieup
Thanks for the info. I'll check out Garmin DK 4 and see if that works beter.
Cheers
I've reverted back to the latest HTC Rom. Had little problems with almost all the custom ROMs.
hi hexa
I had the same problem. And also broke the phone from frustration.
Last week i did a sim card swap. my old sim card was 2+ years old and...
everything is fixed! no more issues, no more "no service", no more dropped calls. the phone is much faster as well.
i use a kaiser diamond rom and always run fring. no more connection issues!
Hey tpiece,
That's interesting. My sim is also about 2years old by now..
I'll see what a sim card upgrade does to the phone.
Thanks!
Cheers
well changes are that this is the problem. If your sim is that old, changes areit is a 2G sim, not 3G hance the problem you can when trying to connect to 3G. First thing i did when getting my tytn II was a sim swap
No Problems
I am running the latest HTC WM 6.1 from HTC site, Europe, and have not had any problems with Vodacom.
I think your problem could be related to "tower hand-overs".
I used to experience this with my old TyTN on cooked ROMS.
I reverted back to the OEM version of WM 6.1 and all the problems were resolved.
I know a while back even Leaf had radio problems on WM 6

Original ATT Fuze radio version

I bought a fuze to replace my 8525. I had no phone reception issues with my 8525 in my work place, it always stayed locked on 3g, even though it might be a bar or two signal strength.
I recently upgraded to the newest official rom from HTC with the new radio in hopes it would solve the call problems I have. Often times my Fuze will switch between Edge and 3g at work. Calls will have horrible sounding audio, dropping out or no audio at all. The newest radio v1.14 didn't help this.
I've recently loaded the standard Energy rom using TF3D 2 and decided to use the v1.12 radio. The jury is out yet on if this helps, but it seems better.
Anyway, my question is that I didn't write down the orginal version of the radio that came with my Fuze so I can avoid trying that again. I'm going to be trying out different radios to see which one works best.
Does anyone have any suggestions and/or can let me know what that original version was?
Thanks.
Find yourself an answer(s) here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Raphael_WM6.1_ROMs
Goodluck.
1.02.25.32
Thanks, I knew it was something like that.

Telstra TP2 questions

Hey guys,
I recently got a Telstra TP2 on a new contract, but I can't stand what they've done to the ROM. For those who don't know, Telstra have added 4 extra tabs on TF3D (downloads, telstra applications, tv, news and sport) which can't be removed or turned off, and they've put 12 locked (unremovable) program shortcuts on the start menu.
As I'm in a rural area, I need the 850 band the Telstra version of the phone supplies, and I'm worried that flashing a new cooked rom will lose this functionality (I'm very new to this). As it is, the shipped version of the Telstra rom isn't found on this site through the wiki (version 1.19.841.3 (51489) wwe), so I'm scared that I'll lose it forever and won't be able to put it back on if something goes squirly.
Is there anyway I can get around this besides flashing a cooked rom, and possibly losing the shipped rom forever?
Also, have any other telstra users been able to use HDWall on the phone to replace the crappy blue telstra background throughout the device?
Many thanks,
Tim
Welcome to forums
Have a look on Rhodium ROM development and choose another ROM!
Good luck,
Thanks for the welcome
I've had a look around, making some heads and tails of it, but I really need to know if I'm going to lose my 850 band with Telstra if I flash another cooked rom without all this Telstra garbage on it.
No you wont
850 is a hardware stuff related and you cant change it with any ROM, so you can install
Just have a deep read on the how to section in rhodium rom development
Enjoy,
Hi there, me again.
I was at the Windows 7/Windows Phone pre-launch in Melbourne on Tuesday, and picked the brains of the Microsoft employees manning the Windows Phone booth showing off Winmo 6.5 on the TP2 and D2. One of the first things I was asked during the conversation was if I had already flashed 6.5 on my phone, which I was surprised about. I mentioned my reservations about losing the 850mhz band with Telstra NextG, and the employee told me that the support for the band is built into Telstra's crappy ROM, and would be lost if flashed with anything else.
Are they yanking my chain or what?
I would like to know this too.
I`ve changed my ROM twice, saved my original one.. and I`ve finally encountered a connectivity issue...
Perhaps it`s my using a Telstra, Unlocked HTC Touch Pro 2 with an Athine ROM (though it really doesn`t make any difference what ROM I use... Maybe) on my Rogers BlackBerry Internet plan.
But I`ve used the Sony Ericsson Xperia on it and a few weeks prior to this date, have had no problem surfing the internet.
It MAY be the fact that Rogers is having problems with their network in downtown Toronto, so I`m hoping it`s not my TP2...
In any case, I`m using HDWalls on my phone.. but I`m just (un)installing the individual walls as I go along.
There`s something wrong with my computer that I have to fix because I cannot install the items necessary to use HDsWalls on the phone, and on the computer.
But so far, it`s been the best.
Although, I just have to say.. if you don`t have anything like "background for all" sort of cab files on the phone, I believe;
1) The phone runs faster
2) The background quality is crisper/better
Took me 2 weeks for me to get my Telstra Touch Pro 2 from Australia to Canada, and it was worth it.
I BELIEVE just changing the ROM will do nothing to the radio.
Moving into radio talk, I was wondering if I updated my Telstra phone with the latest AT&T radio build, because the hardware is for 850mhz and so is the build...
Will it enhance my connectivity?
Does anyone have any expertise on this and help shed some light?
