I know it can be deleted because I deleted it from mine. I don't remember how exactly I did it, though.
From what I can remember...
If you go to \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FavoritesEntries there are Keys for all of the IE Favorites.
Click on the one for MEdia Net and delete the ReadOnly entry.
Then you should be able to remove it from the IE favorites.
For that matter, you can probably just delete the MEdia Net key altogether and skip a step but I didn't try that.

Super. I deleted the entire folder and away it went. Thanks. That seemed so easy!

Memory card and deleting files

I just got my sprint HTC Pro and I cannot find anywhere in the instructions how to make the darn thing default to saving files to the memory card. Second how in the heck do you delete those annoying music files that come pre-installed?!!
Also once the memory card is inserted i see no easy way to remove it?
Sorry for the nooby questions.

Hey and welcome...reading not only the manual but here on XDA will help you alot. You need to install Diamond Tweak and or Advanced Config they will do alot for your device such as storing items to default locations... example pictures, videos, music etc.... If you read, you will educate yourself and get more responses. Typically questions like this go unanswered.
I dont think you can delete system files, but you can try using total commander...do a search for it and see if it will let you.
The music files are actually in the My Documents folder, and I believe there are others in a different folder, though I can't recall the name since it isn't in my device anymore..
The best thing to do and the best way to learn is to use the search button, explore the forum, and explore your device.
Btw when you say to change the default location to save files, what program are you referring to? and what do you mean by installing the memory card, and what would you consider an easy way to uninstall it?
Have fun with your new device! It's really the most amazing on the market

Delete HTC links in windows start menu

Hi!
How could I delete HTC default links in windows start menu (footprints, music, etc...)
I've tried to delete them from (\windows\start menu\etc...), but when i reboot the phone they are still there !
Many thanks
no one has the same problem ?
thx
To be honest, they don't bother me in the slightest, but I was just able to delete the HTC messaging link, and it's still not reappeared after 2 resets.
I know that some files will be replaced if they're deleted, but these links don't appear to come under that heading, on my phone at least.
Maybe create a sub-folder in the programs folder and just try moving them to there. It may not recreate them unless they're actually deleted.

Like I said, I'm personally not bothered whether they're there or not, but I've just checked that registry entry, and it's set to 1 but I can delete the links and they don't come back.
Weird.
Edit: I take it back. The only that doesn't get recreated is the one I tried as a test - the messaging one. The other 4 (calendar, music, people & twitter) do come back. Never mind!

[Q] CM9 Dev Tools Fake Albums media provider [SOLVED]

So in CM9's dev tools under media provider there is a button called insert 20 albums. I innocently hit it trying to see what it did. As expected it made 20 fake albums on my device. However I can't find a way to remove these. Others have said that when they reboot they're gone, but mine stick around. I can't find any files with these names on my device. I also tried adding 20 new ones and rebooting to see if it was just a glitch and they would go away after that, so now I have 40 fake albums on my device. Does anyone know how to get rid of them?
I don't know how that feature works, but have you already tried clearing music app data?
yeah sorry I should have mentioned that. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the player even.
I don't mean to be rude, but I'mbumping this in hopes that someone smarter than me can find it
After posting I decided to try my luck again. I found the media provider databases internal.db and external.db in /data/data/com.android.providers.media/databases
after poking around in them I found reference to the fake albums in the external.db they seem to reference some bogey url instead of a file, so I just deleted the external.db and rebooted. It appears to have repopulated with normal settings afterwards.
Here the case is old, but as still same case here with me. By the way, Thanks for helping!

Need help retrieving files that a browser forcibly deleted from a LG M153 "Fortune"

Hey, sometime ago I uninstalled a browser app from my phone out of paranoia that is was spying on me (it wasn't a mainstream browser) and the thing deleted all the files that I downloaded from the browser off my phone. Although I wish to retrieve all of my files, I kind of given up hope, so I come here wondering if that's possible. What I really want are my music and video files, so I don't mind rooting my phone or obtaining some kind of log files that has the names of the files in them. Which ever way you think is better, basically since I can't find much info on my phone. Anyway thanks in advance!
