Need help retrieving files that a browser forcibly deleted from a LG M153 "Fortune" - General Questions and Answers

Hey, sometime ago I uninstalled a browser app from my phone out of paranoia that is was spying on me (it wasn't a mainstream browser) and the thing deleted all the files that I downloaded from the browser off my phone. Although I wish to retrieve all of my files, I kind of given up hope, so I come here wondering if that's possible. What I really want are my music and video files, so I don't mind rooting my phone or obtaining some kind of log files that has the names of the files in them. Which ever way you think is better, basically since I can't find much info on my phone. Anyway thanks in advance!

All images displayed on Gallery with ICS

Does anyone get annoyed with this ics bug since they upgraded to ics?
My photo Gallery is now displaying all photos and images on my Xoom, even thumbnail images from all my app folders and music folders. All of sudden, my gallery now has over thousand of images instead only photos from DCIM folder.
Does anybody know any way to work around this? Is there a filtering option in the settings somewhere?
Btw, I'm still on official ics, unrooted.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
from what I understand
I think you need to make a file called (dot)nomedia or .nomedia and put it in any folder you don't want to show up in the gallery. I could be thinking of something else, but I'm pretty sure that's how you do it. That would require you to be rooted though I believe.

Thanks for the tips guys
@liftman-, Will first try your method, seems to be easiest to way out for now for me
@dtrud0h, My Xoom is fairly new, not brave enough wipe it yet. Been reading up the Root procedures @XDA though, but I think you guys are doing a fabulous job. Will take the plunge once i'm sick of the stock ICS. Cheers!
Even with an unrooted Xoom, I believe that you can still add the .nomedia file to any accessible folders (not in the system area). Without root and an app to explore further (like Root Explorer), one should still be able to explore the user folders and create the file. Maybe the easiest way would be to connect to a PC or laptop, create the file on your PC then copy it to the needed folders that you can access. No doubt using quickpic is simpler but you should be able to drop some .nomedia files if needed without root.
Now is the best time to root anyway! Once you've had it for a while, got it all set up exactly the way you want, personalized just for you then you'll really hate to root and start all over from scratch. If you plan to root, just take the plunge! You'll be glad later when you don't have to redo every little setting PLUS Team EOS has done so much more for us that Google and Motorola ever have or ever will! Plenty of good folks here to help you out if you get into trouble but the process has been pretty easy and painless by our devs. Just my opinion anyway...whatever works for you!

I have the same problem on my Xoom running OTA ICS, but worse, my gallery app is ignoring .nomedia files and still displaying the media files.
I found a support ticket here that indicates the problem has been fixed with a patch --> AOS .nomedia patch
Wonder if this has been fixed in any of the custom ROMS?

[Q]Phone not responding CD1004

When I'm transferring media files over to my phone it has around 2gbs of space left. However when i transfer anymore media files it gives me an error:
PHONE ISN'T RESPONDING
Your device isn't responding. Please disconnect it,rstart it, then try again.
To see if theres's more information about this error, click Web Help.
Error Code
C00D124D
The only fix for this is to delete some videos in order to sync more which is a b****h seeing how i have 2gb space left. Has anyone also encountered this problem? is there a fix for it?
Bumpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
I haven't seen any other reports of that error.
Did you try clicking Web Help?
Did you try searching for that error code and/or error message?
If that doesn't work, you might need to hard-reset the phone. It sucks, but if something is messed up, that's the easiest way to recover.
The thing is i have games which i want to keep the saved games, and its annoying reinstalling everything.
Is it possible to back it up and hard reset it and afterwards use the backup?
Is that possible? Yes, sure (assuming the phone can be backed up, and your weird error doesn't et in the way).
Will it fix anything? Probably not. If you restore a backup after hard-resetting the phone, it's like you never did the hard reset. That's not going to help if there's a problem to fix!
Is there are way just to backup apps and contacts etc?(I know sms can be backed up)
Contacts should already be stored on your WLID, Google, Hotmail, Exchange, Facebook, etc. accounts ("cloud" services). The phone doesn't actually store them locally, except for a cached copy in case it doesn't have data connectivity at some point.
Your list of purchased apps is already known. You can use the Marketplace website to see your purchased apps and re-install them, free. However, the data for those apps will be gone forever unless you manually back up it. This process is not particularly simple using the software available for Samsung, but it can be done. You need to copy the contents of the IsolatedStore directory for each app that you want to back up to a PC. The IsoStore folder is located at \Applications\Data\<GUID_FOR_THE_APP>\Data\IsolatedStore. There will also be an IsolatedStorageSettings file that should be backed up.
You can use WP7 Root Tools to copy your isostore files to a location that they can be removed from the phone, for example by putting them in the WP7 Root Tools IsoStore folder and then using an Isolated Storage Explorer tool (there are several) or by putting them in the Mango Webserver app's IsoStore and using the Webserver (on the phone) and web browser (on the PC) to download the files. As I said, though, the tools for doing this on Samsung aren't great; WP7 Root Tools isn't designed as a backup app and it is tedious to copy multiple files\folders.

[Q] CM9 Dev Tools Fake Albums media provider [SOLVED]

So in CM9's dev tools under media provider there is a button called insert 20 albums. I innocently hit it trying to see what it did. As expected it made 20 fake albums on my device. However I can't find a way to remove these. Others have said that when they reboot they're gone, but mine stick around. I can't find any files with these names on my device. I also tried adding 20 new ones and rebooting to see if it was just a glitch and they would go away after that, so now I have 40 fake albums on my device. Does anyone know how to get rid of them?
I don't know how that feature works, but have you already tried clearing music app data?
yeah sorry I should have mentioned that. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the player even.
I don't mean to be rude, but I'mbumping this in hopes that someone smarter than me can find it
After posting I decided to try my luck again. I found the media provider databases internal.db and external.db in /data/data/com.android.providers.media/databases
after poking around in them I found reference to the fake albums in the external.db they seem to reference some bogey url instead of a file, so I just deleted the external.db and rebooted. It appears to have repopulated with normal settings afterwards.
Here the case is old, but as still same case here with me. By the way, Thanks for helping!

Any way to access android file logs?

To make a short story even shorter, some browser deleted all of my files off my phone when I uninstalled it. The phone in question is a M153 "Fortune". I can't really find a reliable way to root it, so I was wondering if its possible to access the file logs. The files I really want back are my music and video files, so I'm hopping I can find the names of the files I lost so I can re-download them. Thanks in advance!

Lost Old Whatsapp Folder - see description

Hi Guys,
I'm hoping someone might be able to help.
I'll try to explain - I updated my phone last year and I used one of these apps to send all my files to my new phone etc etc.
And I noticed within the photo gallery I had two whatsapp image, and video folders. I didnt really think too much about it at the time.
But within the last few days I have now lost the old folder and within the gallery and everything that was in it.
I have tried to use es file explorer to find the other photos/videos but it would appear they have gone.
Something has obviously tidied/deleted them somehow, but I dont know what.
Any ideas how I might be able to get them back?
Thanks in advance
