GPS Lag related - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi Guys,
I have a Vodafone branded Touch Pro. I recently got Tomtom 7 maps and installed them on the TP. I realised there was a serious mismatch with the position on the map vis-a-vis my physical position. I thought it could be a problem with Tomtom. So I tried Googlemaps and Windows Live Maps - again the same problem. Then I did something which I should have done earlier go through the xda forum and I found out that this is known issue.
So I called up HTC UK customer support and after explaining the whole problem to the lady, I was told that this is an issue with Tomtom and not the handset. So I tried explaining to her that its the same thing with Googlemaps and Windows Live maps. She kept on insisting that I contact Tomtom.
I am quite surprised at their attitude. Anybody else had a similar experience?
Vin

Did you read the rest of the threads of Raphael where we talk about this issue millions of times??????
Before opening new threads read the ****ing ones that exist.

Sorry, I thought I was posting in that area, no idea how I managed to start a new thread.
I apologise.

Yes I know Daniel but sometime I loose my temper.
Most of the guys that come to XDA or other forumĀ“s don't make the single effort to look for a while before opening new threads.

Bluetooth on Dutty's new ROM *Fix*

Hey all,
A few people (myself included) are experiencing a few issues when sending/receiving/pairing with other bluetooth devices on Dutty's new ROM.
I came across this which seems to have fixed my problem. It basically just re-adds the FTP tab in the Bluetooth settings (Settings>Connections>Bluetooth). Have a fiddle with it for 5 mins, and bluetooth should then send/receive just as it used to.
Cheers
thanks!! BT now working
FANTASTIC!! it works!
Dutty should include this in the next 6.1 version.
Great ROM by the way - have finally got everything working video calls and now BT.

Might I ask....
Why, oh why, is this not in the thread for said ROM? Hast thou not seen the long dissertation being assembled on redundant threads? Hast thou not looked thine eyes upon the link in my sig provided by Sir _Alex_ of Patience? Shoulds thou not do these things before starting a new thread rather than posting in an existing one?
And if I can't ask that...tough...I'm gonna do it anyway.

Actually, no, thou cannot ask this, because if thou would have bothered to look at the date of the said thread (_Alex_'s), and the date of thy's thread (this one), thou would've spotted that thy's thread was posted PRIOR to the said thread.
So pay attention before you post. And besides, have you searched for "Bluetooth fix" in Dutty's ROM's thread? It brings up more post's than you'll find on a highway...
It's called "sharing the knowledge"...

Regardless of who posted when and who didn't, it still should have been posted in the Dutty's rom forum from whence it came.<<(couldn't resist)
All joking aside, the insight is greatly appreciated but for future reference, it would have been better to post it in Dutty's thread so as to not clutter the forum with new threads, to which some care nothing about due to the fact that they dont use Dutty's ROM's. Regardless of how many bluetooth patches are posted in that thread, it still would have been better suited for that thread.
Can't we all just get along?
I'm no hardcore veteran of this forum stuff, but I must say, sometimes this sort of thing does belong in its own thread because it may pertain to more of Dutty's roms than simply one single thread for one single rom. This being said, perhaps this new thread was a good idea gone bad. I wish that there were more than 2 useful posts in this thread so that perhaps I could have more information about what good this bluetooth "fix" might do for me, as I have been experiencing some odd issues with bluetooth connectivity in my car, with my earpiece and with a few notebooks here at my office. Either way, let's consider him properly flamed, please, and move on.
That's my 2 cents. Thank you.
I would like to add my 2c
I have little time and find it extremely difficult to search the entirity of Duttys thread for tidbits of info I require. ie - I have a few issues which I'm sure already have fixes in duttys thread - however - spending half an hour searching for the solution is not viable at this point in time.
My suggestion would be to allow popular ROMS there own forum or for dutty to get a bugzilla / JIRA (or other) tracking software so issues can be raised and solutions shared in a browsable / searchable format.
Feel free to disagree!

LOL don't be bitter now

Open touch 7.x ring issue

Sorry for starting a new thread. ttran has put lot of work in 7.x roms and they are the best rom till date. Excellent response time and out of the world UI and features. However it has a serious issue which is present is almost every 7.x rom.
If there a call coming from blocked number and your backlight is off (as most of time it will be) the phone doesn't ring/vibrate. Just the backlight turns on it shows the number on screen. But it doesn't ring/vibrate.
This is the issue with virgin 7.x rom installed. No additional software installed or no additional settings done. I have flashed 7.3, 7.4.1, 7.6 (with phonecanvas and without phonecanvas) roms and have issue in all of these roms. Now I flashed back to 6.5 and it is working as expected.
It is very easy to reproduce. With any 7.x rom
1) switch off the backlight if it is not already off by pressing the button on top of phone
2) call your phone from another phone with caller id blocked. (If in US, you can put *67 in front of number you are dialing. e.g. instead of dialing 12345671234 dial *6712345671234)
You will see that screen turns on and shows a private call, but it doesn't ring.
Without this working I miss several important calls.
If anyone has a solution or need more info please reply to this thread.
EDIT: Good news.. This isssue is no longer present in OTP 7.7.. I just flashed to 7.7 biggy and it doesn't have that issue. Thanks TTRAN !!
I'm using OTP 7.3 STD and this happens. But honestly I think of it more as a
special feature - since I'm the kind of guy who doesn't want to be bothered by
anyone who is blocking or has a blocked ID. Callers can still leave voice mail and
that comes with an audible and visual alert - and if I like 'em, I can call 'em back.

I third this problem,
DrStinkbomb, i have exactly the same thoughts about not answering those who want to be private, but it has its down aswell.
Just day before yesterday i was waiting for a call from NYC Police because they have fix my car for damaging it while trying to catch a suspect. They did call me back, but from a private number, lucky for me i had my phone on my desk beside my computer and saw the light coming up. Thats when i relialzed that i almost missed a very important call.
So yes it is important to get it fixed.
yea i dont answer if they block their number anyway... they can just leave a message if i dont know who it is... so this is actually a good feature
Unfortunately, with the doctors and lawyers (not to mention the couple generally paranoid quacks) in the family I foresee this being a potential issue for me. I haven't noticed it yet, but the holiday's aren't yet in everyone's mind...
Though some users like not answering calls from blocked number, however as tatail mentioned, sometimes it is very important to take calls.
Several times banks, hospital, doctor etc. call from a blocked number and you really don't want to miss those calls.
I have to revert back to 6.5 rom just because of this issue.
I hope someone knowledgeable can come up with solution.

chill dude.. I am not complaining. I am pointing out a issue. finding out bugs is part of development process so cook can put it in next rom or people can find solution together. If you read my posts, you will see that I have been a big fan of ttran's rom. I have posted solution myself for a bluetooth issue I found in one of the earlier roms. As you would have noticed I have tried to do my part by doing debugging (flashing different roms, about 12 to 13 times with different options and finally isolating the issue)
We are in this together to make it better.

No, he is not trying to help, he is trying to be helped, and if you're looking for some assistance with an issue you can at least follow forum etiquette rules as dumpydooby pointed out. The development forum is not for help, its for developing new roms, he can either post in the rom thread if he wants to help the cook debug the rom, or he can post in a forum for assistance. I think a mod should remove this thread.

i think you answered your question yourself. the OTP thread is so massive with 'irrelevant' posts that the big issues get buried. And if you had taken time to read the actual OTP thread, I had posted it in that thread (don't tell me you never read the OTP thread).
In fact ttran himself had offered to fix this issue ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2756237&highlight=vibrate#post2756237 ) . But I think because of ton's of posts after that it got buried. I did not want to bug ttran with PM's. He already has tons of things to do.
I am just hoping to find a solution collectively.
If you had not started whining about this thread, maybe we would be closer to fix which can be given to ttran so he can add it to his next rom.

What's wrong with pointing out a potentially serious issue and offering to help ?
Here are the rules from forum (in case you forgot to read them)
- ROM discussion
- ROM release
- ROM issus due to the release thread
I never said I need it fixed now. I have already flashed back to 6.5.
I am offering to help anyone and provide any required info who knows more about roms than me.

but you're right, i'm whining, when i should have just ignored the question and questioner, duly noted.

Way ahead of you. My eyesight must be weaker than you since even after reading all the posts, I could not find the solution. I had reposted it couple of times in original thread. Also if you had read the thread carefully, you will find that several other people have exactly same issue. Though none of them could reproduce it. I was able to isolate and reproduce it after spending lot of time. What have you done to contribute to development of the ROM's (except trolling in forums)
If you can find solution to all your problems by searching, good for you.
This is a public forum (meant for discussing issues), and there are owners/moderators defining the rules. As per rules they permit posting the issues. You seem to be hell bent on policing the forum, and enforcing your own views (I see you just joined this forum a month back).
I had repeatedly said that this is not a "please-fix-it-for-me-i-must-have-it" thread (though it would be good to have this fixed ) since I have already switched to previous version which doesn't have this issue. In addition I am offering to help others isolate/debug the problem.
Just for kicks, why don't you try to switch off the backlight of your phone and try calling from blocked number ?
You know.... Tran did make a thread for rom issues... dont forget that, and i quote
"Please post your issues here since the original thread is getting way too big.
Also, please post your fixes for possible minor issues, this will help new users until I update the rom.
Do not post any thing else in this thread besides issue related stuff."
WOW, he even says please in his thread... what a little reading will do...
And so, the moral to this story is...
I'm not sure. All I'm getting from all
this is 'I am holier than thou'....
'nuff said. It's not funny anymore.

Thanks to all who don't use search and open directly a new thread, it is more difficult to find something for the searching people (like me), because you get a huge number of hits with irrelevant threads... Get it?
I don't want to demotivate but motivate to search and read. When you give directly a helping link, they stay doing it.
Seeing every time new opened threads from newbies with every time the same silly questions, that's very demotivating for us, the people who supposed to help you. And that's what you'r looking for here, somebody who wants to help you. We don't have to do it, but we like it because this forum is a bit like a hobby for us.
So, we can shoose, saying nothing more or trying to teach you how a forum works. I prefer the last thing... And if somebody like me (the bad one) point you in the right direction, it's not for beeing bad, but for getting a better usefull forum. You can see in my posthistory that it's really multiple times a day that new useless threads were opened...
Normally it's a work for the moderators, but they also have a live and can not be always here, because also them are doing this as a hobby. Be all glad that I don't be one of them or it was the same comment and also closing the thread directly.
I take some time for this post because I can quote him for futur use when I get comments again from not-readers, not-searchers, new-post-openers and silly-question-posters...

I'm from Belgium. Here we speak Dutch, French and a bit German. Most of my English I've learned here and on the internet in general by reading and even now at the moment my online Google translator is opened... So no excuse for that...
But even with the exact words it's difficult to find the right thread or post if you're searching something. And that was not a problem about 2 years ago. That's started with all the new users now. It takes a little work, but if everybody does a little effort, this forum can be a strong instrument again...
Before htc was only buyed by people who were really interested. Now htc is a more commercial product. People buy it and thereafter they can not work with it. They are not interested, they just want that it works. So they don't read, don't search... They just want an instant solution or link for there problem... Result: 100's questions of the same type... It's really demotivating for people who love there device and want to learn and share knowledge here...
I really hope that mods can do something at that, but i'm afraid it's a hopeless situation. I'm allready happy if I can prevent somebody of opening a second useless thread, even the first one is allready one to much...

Like I said, there are a TON of threads about this problem already.
People are working VERY HARD on trying to find a way to fix this (me being one of them) -- don't irritate them by asking the same question that someone already asked AGES AGO IN NUMEROUS THREADS.
defaultdotxbe's response is priceless: "Let me Google that for you" - I love it.
FWIW... I put "touch pro2" cdma "FM radio" into Google and it came up with TEN PAGES OF RESULTS.
BTW... I'm not an angry person. "There are no stupid questions - only stupid people".

Really Good Data Speeds for Inspire 4G

ok i'm sorry ahead of time for posting this and there is already something posted somewhere else...the search function isn't working for some reason.....
Ok so i live in Spokane, Washington where i have 3G but no 4G yet and i was getting terrible data speeds everywhere i went...i couldn't even get pandora to load a song....so i started looking around on different forums and did a little research myself and this is what i have found....
i started with playing with the build.prop file in android commander and then did some research/trial and error on what the settings should be and what would work better for ME....the settings i found are here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Speed_Downlink_Packet_Access....this wiki shows the technology behind hsdpa and the category's and everything that belongs to the tech.....the settings i choose is HSPA+ Release 7 category 20 @ 42.2 mbps....so i changed the text in build.prop to hsdpa=20, then changed the hsxpa=3 and the hsupa=6 and i left the APN stock with the APN=phone.....and these are the results that i got..... please post your results and let me know if this helped anyone out.....
btw...just noticed that the screen shots of the two results the lower speed one is showing hsdpa and the higher speed one is showing umts.....how does that work??? lol

Hey, let's everyone flame the OP on this. Even though he posted "ok i'm sorry ahead of time for posting this and there is already something posted somewhere else...the search function isn't working for some reason"
I can verify that the search feature DOES NOT always work properly. Just yesterday I was looking for a radio file...Used the search feature and it displayed NO RESULTS. But then when searching the EXACT same name (cut and paste, so it wasn't a mistype) through Google, it popped right up.
We are a community. Apparently some of you have forgotten what that means. That means when someone posts something like this and it has already been posted...YOU DO NOT FLAME THEM, you help them. You tell them that this has already been posted, post the link if you have it, and request a mod to move it and/or merge it. In some cases, yes, it can be closed.
BTW. "Flaming" is against the rules!
2.3 Flaming: XDA was founded as a group of people sharing information about certain mobile phones. Sharing does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) it does involve working together to solve problems in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Losing your temper and flaming another member, or group of members, is not acceptable behavior.

Wow! There it is.
Isreal's thread "how to build.prop yada data speeds etc et al"
Not to mention that regarding radios nearly every single dev suggests radio version.
You make a good point however.
Time and effort also go a long way toward not cluttering up a forum.
Can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. And such cliche'
Support a 2k+ post thread respite with repetition and bootloops based on random "look what I found - flash this" threads - as a lot of these devs do. Then go read your 2.3 subsection etc and see how warm and fuzzy it makes you.

No one is intending to flame but this is getting pretty exhausting and not to mention counterproductive. Significant progress was made in this thread just a few days ago:

We shouldn't have to re-invent the wheel now. No offense to the OP but you don't have to search far, it was on the second page in development.

If nothing else the guy posted this in the wrong forum, it belongs in general. Just for not reading the 1st post at the top of the page should be enough for a little razzing. Don't you think?
As big as XDA is people need to learn to post in the right sub forums, if not they need a little slap on the hand. The mod's need to stiffen up a bit and start handing out temp bans.
Case in point v9.0.1.6

[Q] HTC Inspire Will not turn on. and battery is charged.

XDA and the like are primarily based in:

thank you for not being a ass, and understanding you have been thanked because of it.....
Now that you've had a chance to fire back this thread may be of use to you .

Most people don't realize the danger in messing with the build prop, APN settings give the best results when done correctly.

Sorry -- maybe you missed it near the bottom of Development Forum:
OR THIS THREAD
THIS ONE TOO
Not to mention that nearly all ROM threads are riddled with days upon days of data speed dialogue.
Not on my high horse.
Simply dealing with reality on reality's terms.
Yes, the OP posted in the wrong section. It should have been in "general."
Yes, the search results DID show up for me as well, showing a similar post has already been made. (Several actually)
If the OP should be reprimanded for posting in the wrong section, or "not properly using the search feature", etc... then those that flame should be too. Now THAT, makes me feel "warm and fuzzy." ;-)
n00b or not... 2k+ post thread or not... Doesn't change the fact that rules are rules. when it comes down to it, the OP's post should have been added to the other thread, and the OP notified of this change via PM.
Anyways, I'm not trying to start anything with anyone here...Just trying to say that people shouldn't be so quick to fly off the handle.

You're right. In trying to express my point, I too, went over the edge. For that, I apologize.
Mr. Clown posted this at the beginning:

Thinking of posting a new thread???
Use the search button on the top bar between "New Posts" and "Quick Links"
If any mod, including myself, continue to find new threads about topics that have threads already existing.
The thread will be locked with no notice and/or up to a temp BAN!!.
Mods, including myself, are not here to keep the forum organized after the fact, we need your help to keep it organized, clean and grouped.
To the dedicated members that care to keep this forum, subforums included, clean and organized and grouped.
Please start reporting threads to the mods to take action. Using this button.
Thank You and happy easy searching.

I think that by stating it and not following through makes it too easy for those to continue not following the rules. If you say you're going to temp ban then temp ban. I'm not saying a week but 24hrs for 1st offense and escalate up from there. It will give the offenders time to read.
Also as I've stated before, I think access to starting threads in the Dev sub forums should be restricted to the Dev's. It would save the mods time & energy.
