Strange problem with Active Sync - Touch Cruise General

My phone syncs alright with Active Sync 4.5 but it gives me some error when trying to Sync Notes. Keeps saying it can't sync a certain file "Dogbark" because it may be in use. This file is neither on my system nor on my phone. Then why this error? Any help thanks.

Dogbark should be one of media files (ringtones). Check did you select media sync...

The problem was not that file, there was some issue in general with notes synching, I deleted all notes and synched without Notes option enabled. Then created a Note in Outlook on my PC. Then synched again. It worked. Thanks.

ActiveSync only syncs fraction of Contacts & Favourites

Hi, I am using ActiveSync 4 with Windows Mobile 5 on the HTC Universal Pocket PC.
I have 565 Contacts in Outlook, however Activesync only leaves about 100 on the device after the 2nd sync (all 565 copy successfully on the 1st sync).
I also have many Mobile Favourites organised into folders on the PC. Again, only a fraction of them ever stay on the device after the 2nd sync.
I have tried:
Deleting the partnership on the PC and PPC
Checking the Contacts filters
Copying all my Contacts on Outlook to a new folder to delete them from the PPC
Recopying them back to Contacts to recreate them on the PPC (works until 2nd sync)
Manually copying Favourites to the device (they appear correctly until the next sync)
Rebooting device between all the above
Please could somebody help?
I dont know if applies to you but, it did to me; if any of the contacts in Outlook on your computer have pictures for the comtact it wont copy them back across.
I noticed this after setting up my contacts, mostly with pictures, then I had to do a Hard Reboot, and the contacts with pictures would sync back to the phone.
I had to remove all the pics from the contacts on my computer, then sync, then put the pics back on - major hassle.
Thanks but I only have a few with pics and they sync'd fine. Any other ideas?
I don't think I have any photo's on my contacts... but none of them sync, even though Activesync says all is done?
I just created a test contact on the M5000 and it wouldn't sync it back to my PC.
Anyone any ideas?
I ended up moving all Contacts out of my Contacts folder in Outlook and onto a desktop folder, then deleting the partnership in ActiveSync, then recreating the partnership, and finally dragging the Contacts back into my Outlook Contacts folder. They all copied to the device and have stayed put.
Strangley enough, I disconnected and reconnected and all seems fine...

ActiveSync not syncing inbox

Done a search and found nothing that fixes my problem - but I'm sure others must have come across this problem.
Active sync 3.8 and MDA compACT. Outlook and Pockect outlook used to sync contacts - notes - calendar and Inbox just fine - but it seems to have stopped working.
I can't think of anything that I've done with Active sync or outlook or PO that might have caused a problem.
I have scanned my inbox for errors. deleted the pairing and recreated and re-installed Active sync.
The Inbox Dialogue also appear in the config - but when it come to the syncing itself the inbox does not appear or get syncronised.
Any Ideas :?:
Thanks
if you open activesync on the pc and go to the list of sync objects you can click on the inbox and choose settings and look if it's disabled in there
inbox not syncing
Thanks for the reply - the check box is not present
so even though you can choose to sync the inbox in the connection building part - it is not enabled for the sync
I have tried everything on the PC - I'm thinking its something on the PPC telling activev sync that it is not available but ...
lost in terms of what to try next ....
:?:
maybe this thread will help

or you can get more by searching for
Activesync AND inbox

Thank you
Thanks your link was spot on
For others having this problem
If you having problems with ActiveSync inbox after restoring it from a backup, using Sprite Backup.
There is a program called cleanmail.exe on Sprite site that will solve this (clears the Pocket outlook DBs).

ActiveSync error syncing notes

I have just changed my Outlook profile (in order to overcome a problem where I couldn't get ActiveSync to sync contacts) but am now having a problem syncing notes. I get the following error message:
"Microsoft Outlook
Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the netowork and access information."
After clicking "Ok" everything else syncs fine (contacts, tasks, e-mail and calendar and a third party Outlook Journal sync). When the sync finishes there is an entry in the sync list next to notes saying "Attention required".
I am syncing with ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP SP3 and Outlook 2002 on a local computer not an exchange server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated for this annoying problem.
I have the same OS's and versions and same problem. Only, it sometimes gives the error, sometimes doesn't
SOLVED
After much trial and error and some pretty fruitless searching on the internet I seem to have hit on a solution:
Delete the original ActiveSync relationship (File/Delete Mobile Device)
Create a new Outlook Profile (Start/Control Panel/Mail)
Start Outlook...which creates a new .pst file
Copy the data from your old .pst file accross (this the tedious bit especially since you need to re-create custom views and e-mail accounts)
Re-sync which will create a new relationship with the new Outlook profile
Hope that helps anyone else with the problem.
Also, when you have started outlook (visible mode) there is no worries

HTC Sync cannot detect the phone if iTunes installed

If any of you is having trouble to let HTC Sync detect the phone, try to rename the "iTunes" folder in your "My Documents\Music" folder.
When I bought the phone, I installed the HTC Sync v3.0.5517 (which was on the SD card and newer than the online version) on my Windows 7 x64 SP1 e never could see it detected by the software. Every time I launched it, the notification icon showed that the phone was detected and after 2 seconds disappeared (htcUPCTLoader.exe also disappeared from task manager).
I tryed the software in a WinXP Virtual Machine and it worked fine, so I decided to contact the HTC Support in order to know if there was some incompatibility with Win7 x64 SP1: the told me that the problem was my PC
After a few search, I found a similar problem in another forum, and tried to rename the iTunes folder, and I finally got HTC Sync starting and synching like a charm. The problem is when the software tries to detect our iTunes playlist in order to show them in the Media synchronization.
I replied back to the HTC Support telling them this issue, hoping that they will fix it.
Thanks
Thanks for the Info,
I've same problem with XP-Media Center, Sync installed from SD-Card and then a connect and nothing. The HTC Sync is starting up and then "updating HTC...." for ever.
When leaving the room with Device connect it started up after a while (1hour probably - was not in the room) and then I could set up the sync but it never started.
Will give it a try in the evening.
Cheers
Mike
What are you guys syncing with HTC Sync?
I found that Google's own sync tools were best for calendars and contacts?
I originally uploaded all my Outlook calendar & contacts into my Google account in the cloud and now the phone syncs itself without the need for HTC Sync.
If you need to continue to still use Outlook you can do as Google Calendar Sync will continue to sync both ways.
works perfect!
Thanks a lot,
I've renamed the I-Tunes folder and HTC-Sync was running perfect.
Cheers
Mike

I'm using HTC Sync with Outlook for 2 reasons:
- I can sync my Outlook contacts with my 2nd phone
- I hate having unuseful mail contacts (eg: work mail, mailing-list senders) in my phone

[Q] Google contacts not syncronizing on sensation

Hi,
unfortunately my Sensation is not syncronizing the contacts from my google account. Mail an calander ist syncing o.k. I have no clue where to look for a solution, because there is no error message. Any hints?
Heinzelrumpel
go to settings->accounts and sync->google->click sync contacts
or go to contacts->menu->view->click google
this is not a matter of how to syncronize my contacts. I know where to find manual settings, but when I hit sync now on contacts nothing syncs. It says june 22th as date for the last syncronisaton. Calander was synced this morning. No problem there.
i came across the same problem on a friend's Desire where they also had Sim contacts available, then the whole of 'contacts' would not sync
try selecting only google contacts in your people app, then sync
This unfortunately does not work either
Tried a reset?
try this
>on pc, export google contacts to your desktop (to google csv file)
>on pc, delete all contacts
>on phone, delete all contacts
>on phone sync - do this to check that nothing actually reappears to confirm you have no other contact list showing up
>on pc, import google csv conacts
>on phone, sync
that's all i've got

What do you mean with "on pc" ? In which application should I delete an import the csv?
p.s
o.k. I figured it out, and... it worked. Many thanks

well, after reviewing I found out, that the contacts synced again, but still the display shows an error and the date remains on june 22th. I will try to see what happens, if I ad new contacts on pc.
so, syncing both ways is succesfull even with error message.
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem - the last Contacts sync date shown there is 19th July. This is the date I had got and installed my official ICS update, and had to format my sd card (due to some office Exchange restriction). Since then, no matter what I do, it doesn't sync the newer contacts. I don't completely understand the suggestion given above. I have newer contacts added on my phone, which are not getting synced to Google contacts. (And not the other way round) - so while I can export and import back Gmail desktop contacts, if I delete the phone contacts there'd be no way to get them back.
Any suggestions?
Thanks...
