Hi, I am using ActiveSync 4 with Windows Mobile 5 on the HTC Universal Pocket PC.
I have 565 Contacts in Outlook, however Activesync only leaves about 100 on the device after the 2nd sync (all 565 copy successfully on the 1st sync).
I also have many Mobile Favourites organised into folders on the PC. Again, only a fraction of them ever stay on the device after the 2nd sync.
I have tried:
Deleting the partnership on the PC and PPC
Checking the Contacts filters
Copying all my Contacts on Outlook to a new folder to delete them from the PPC
Recopying them back to Contacts to recreate them on the PPC (works until 2nd sync)
Manually copying Favourites to the device (they appear correctly until the next sync)
Rebooting device between all the above
Please could somebody help?
I dont know if applies to you but, it did to me; if any of the contacts in Outlook on your computer have pictures for the comtact it wont copy them back across.
I noticed this after setting up my contacts, mostly with pictures, then I had to do a Hard Reboot, and the contacts with pictures would sync back to the phone.
I had to remove all the pics from the contacts on my computer, then sync, then put the pics back on - major hassle.
Thanks but I only have a few with pics and they sync'd fine. Any other ideas?
I don't think I have any photo's on my contacts... but none of them sync, even though Activesync says all is done?
I just created a test contact on the M5000 and it wouldn't sync it back to my PC.
Anyone any ideas?
I ended up moving all Contacts out of my Contacts folder in Outlook and onto a desktop folder, then deleting the partnership in ActiveSync, then recreating the partnership, and finally dragging the Contacts back into my Outlook Contacts folder. They all copied to the device and have stayed put.
Strangley enough, I disconnected and reconnected and all seems fine...

So i finally upgraded to WM6 and used the Perfect English package.
now since I'm not too sure how but I lost all my contacts, and they werent saved on my SIM. I was lucky that my contacts were saved on Outlook though, so I'm wondering how exactly I can copy these contacts (or sync) to my phone directly.
Manually adding 122 contacts would be a chore!
thanks
Just sync your phone via Active Sync, it would be synced back
You shouldnt use Perfect English, but this

i forgot to mention I'm using Vista,...so i have no active sync...I used VMware to update and the contacts are currently on Outlook 2007 on my host pc.
Vista got Windows Mobile Device Center thingy wad
right, but everytime it syncs, the contacts dont!...
Hi there,
I got a WM6 phone full of contacts. I've been using the phone with Windows
Live and I have spent hours tidying up contacts with MSN live accounts and
so on.
As I reinstalled the OS on my PC, I deleted the partnership of my WM6 phone in order to start fresh. Everything works fine if wasn't for the fact that my existing contacts simply WON'T SYNC. I'm using Windows XP SP2 with Activesync 4.5.0 and Outlook 2007 (installing SP1 as I write this).
I tried to tick/untick the option to sync my contacts. All I got as a result is that ALL of my non live-enable contacts have been whiped out (yes, OUCH!)
If I create a new contact on the phone (outlook contact only) or on the PC the new contact will sync. But as for existing contacts they are simply ignored!
If I copy an existing contact, IT WON'T SYNC
If I try to modify an existing contact, IT WON'T SYNC
If I try to create a new Windows Live contact, IT WON'T SYNC
I tried to delete the profile and parterships to start fresh but I got no luck. Could someone please advise? I'm about to to flip out here!
Thank you all in advance!
Regards,
P
I've cleaned up my contact list and deleted all the contacts on my phone to transfer the fresh ones from outlook. But mobile device center deletes my outlook contacts instead of transfering them to my phone! What do i do?

read my answer in this thread
there are no active sync on Vista. But i think i found it, there are two alternatives if there is a conflict:
Replace elements on unit
Replace elements on desktop
Either doesn't do any good. the sync still tries to delete my outlook contacts.
I've tried the pimbackup also, but all the contacts end up as unknown on my phone.
So recently I formated my computer to Windows 7. And today I wanted to update my Rom on my tilt. So before doing so, I already had outlook installed, and I installed Mobile Device Center, and synced my phone. It said contacts were already being synced. So after it was done syncing, I updated my rom. After all is done, I went ahead and plugged it in, planned on syncing my contacts back on right?
Contacts, tasks, calender were all grayed out in Mobile Device center. And it said something about outlook not being configured. I opened up outlook... none of my contacts are in there...
So, I'm guessing my initial sync didn't go right, and I have lost all my contacts??
fml
regardless of the device center settings did you have all the contacts in your outlook when you looked?
If so I would FIRST backup you're outlook pst, then in sync device settings delete your old device relationship and then connect your device. you should be prompted to setup a new relationship and be able to sync your contacts back.
If your Outlook seems to be missing the contacts and/or corrupted you could try to run the Outlook PST Scan / Repair utility on your Outlook PST and see if that helps.
FYI the PST file is the store file for all your Outlook email, contacts, calendar, etc.
Hope that helps!
Experts, I'm desperate! I gave my lil bro my old phone, but stupid enough of me, I left all of my settings the way it was, also the exchange settings with work. He logged on with msn and synced all his contacts, agenda, tasks etc with my contacts etc. And now I lost everything! How can I do a roll back?
Old phone is an WM 6.1 HTC touch cruise (phone of my lil bro), the new phone is the HTC HD2 WM 6.5 (my own), don't think this will matter though.
Thanks!

I still have the old outlook.ost file, where I found my 'old' contacts and calendar items. But when I tried to sync it says it need to make contact with the server, but I dont want that! How can I achieve this?
Windows 7 with windows mobile device centre 6.1
Hi,
- disconnect the line to the server, that there is no syncronization
- put the .ost file in the Outlook directory
- start Outlook
- copy inside of the open outlook the folders calender and contacts from the exchange part to the personal part of outlook
- export these two new folders to .pst files
- connect to the exchange server and sycronize
- import the .pst files into the syncronized exhange folders
That's it

LOL idd, I did this just an hour ago and it works ! Tnx for your reply!
Would now be a good time to suggest installing PIMBackup and scheduling a regular backup of PIM data?
Mine does it at 4am and has saved my bacon on more than one occasion. My own fault for trying to maintain OTA synch with more than one source.
