MWG Phones - General Topics

just wondered if the MWG phones like the Zinc 2, Atom V are as good as the HTC ones, because they are so much cheaper and i want to buy one but dont know why they are cheap compared to HTC. Somebody any views?
Example the Zinc 2 is faster than my HTC and it cost £199 brand new/unlocked! very tempting,.
Appreciate anu feedback before i make my decision and buy it

I have the zinc 2 excellent phone solid and fast good battery life and for only £199 bargin. I always wanted the htc touch cruise but a bit out of my price range so i got this then a mate of mine got the htc cruise and he had the diamond, had a mess round with them and i would have my mwg over the them 2 any day.

thanks, exactly what i thought! very cheap compared to htc and they seem very similar. time to order! thanks

The Zinc-II is a decent device for the price, BUT the GPS takes quite some time to acquire its initial position fix, and if you go into areas where the signal coverage is weak it will quickly lose the signal.
The keyboard is useless, it is like typing on a slab of illuminated plastic there is no feedback from the keys at all.
The screen is one of the best I have seen on a PDA, very vibrant colours and excellent contrast, battery life is good, although the battery meter seems to have a mind of its own
I have been using the Zinc-II for a number of months now, it is far from the best device, but for the price it is a good buy - Mike

Is HTC Diamond a good new Phone to get ?

I been struggling between these new phone, and wondering which is the best to get. I'm leaning toward Diamond since I could get it by tomorrow, but heard many bad things with it's battery life, lack of memory card slot, and such. So can anyone tell me if I should get the Diamond or should I just give it alittle wait for something else ?
HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Touch HD, Samsung Omnia, IPhone 3G, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Andoid? ......... etc.
Thanks in advance !
The diamond is a decent choice for a new phone, however if you can afford it, hold out for the Touch HD, Xperia, Or Dream/G1.
Those 3 phones will be the most killer handsets to hit the market this year.
Touch Diamond is right below them, still making a great handset. But go with a more powerful device if you can. They become outdated quickly.
The thing with the touch HD is that is is almost exactly the same spec to the touch pro including the same chipset and battery, combined with a massive screen the HD must draw more power, its basic physics and since it uses the same chipset its doubtful it will have much in the way of more power efficency so to the point the battery must be pretty poor compared to a pro.
So Yes the HD sounds great but the battery question needs to be answered first
Diamond in my opinion is a bit to small and the battery is very poor otherwise its very good
Pro is a bit more chunky than the diamond but is actually much the same size as previous generation of phones even with a keyboard its smaller than an O2 Orbit.
Iphone looks nice, and does its job well, but in my opinion its poor quality your very limited in what you can do with it and i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole due to its big brother style atitude to software, music and phone contract.
the other two i have no experiece with so cant really comment, for me im going to see how i like the Pro when O2 releases it, hopefully the question on HD battery life can be answered by then, then i can make my mind up.
As stated above, wait for the last models of 2008:
Omnia, HD, G1, Xperia
And after that you can make your choice
Diamond is not bad, but there are much better models
Depends on how much you want to spend.............
Diamonds are forever!
I know people go on about the Diamonds' battery life, but considering the power and size of this little device, I wouldn't consider it useless!
I get a good two days use out of mine... a few calls, loads of internet browsing, WiFi use, games, and music via a bluetooth headset. I really don't think that's bad. Let's face it, the only phones that last a week on one charge these days are feeble lack-lustre, brick sized devices.
Another point to remember is that because the TF3D interface is sooo much fun to play with, people are probably using their Diamonds' a whole lot more than their previous devices, therefore giving the impression that the battery life is poor.
The Touch HD does look good, but remember it's bigger and will be more power hungry! I think the Diamond is the best in it's class... best size... best specs... best TFT... I LOVE IT!!!
I was researching the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro; But I have now pre-ordered the HTC Touch HD due to it's spec's & state-of-art design!

My Orbit can last up to ~8 hours using its GPS on a standard 1250 battery
HTC Touch Diamond according to HTC, will last 2 hours, even taking in to account battery sizes, the diamond isnt very power economical.
But your right, dont use the GPS and the phone isnt to bad, indeed it would probably last as long as my orbit so in that respect it does a a good job, the problem with that way of thinking is if i leave it on my desk in standby and never use it at all it will last for a week or more
but seriously its a great little PDA and if size is important than thats a winner, if high usability is, than perhaps its not the phone for you.

Thats a bold thing to do, unreviewed, unproven apart from a couple of vids an a few snaps, ignoring the bigger screen and the better camera that the HD has and the keyboard that the Pro has they are identical i believe, oh not forgetting the 3.5mm jack on the HD.
What im concerned about is the battery on the HD, running that thing may take a lot more juice an the pro wasnt great in the first place.
Thats a bold gamble, one i think i'll wait until the reviews start flying about giving ideas of its good and bad points.
Thank alot for the reply guys !
I have decided just to get the Diamond since it's a decent phone and I could get my hand on it right now. I'll pass on those new phones since they might have the same flaw or even more problems. I'll be a proud owner of Diamond in a few hours.

Which htc should i buy?

I guys i want you guys to give me a opinion on what to buy. I had the htc tytn 1 and ll but they were to big. Then i tried something smaller, the htc touch dual but was just slow and performance wasn't what i expect it. From that i went to htc touch diamond, it was beautifull, small everything i could ask for but first day i used batterie was so poor. In a half day my batterie is always dead i ended up selling it. I have a nokia but i miss my windows mobile. What should i buy ? Htc diamond was almost perfect but battery was very bad. I use my phone alot and battery as to last at least a day. Plz guys give me your opinion. Thanks
try the motorola q 9c it has really good battery life and it is small. no touch screen though
It has to have touch screen other wise it wont feel like a full windows mobile. Someone told me there a extended batterie for diamond. They say phone will look bigger and all that. Have anyone try that and does the extended batterie really makes a difference?
Just to warn you, I hear that you can't use the Diamond's GPS if you're also using the extended battery.
I heard the Touch HD's battery life is excellent.
But the dimension of htc touch hd is bit big like tytn isn't it? Wat about the new htc touch 3g? And can someone confirm that extended batterie will make the gps stop working? If it does why does that happen ? :-(

why does it make the gps not work?
I read after doing a search that some batteries do that, maybe cause bad quality. But some extended batteries dont affect anything on the phone. What u guys say about htc touch 3g?
Touch HD is About 1/2 thinner than the Tytn...
Touch Cruise 2009 maybe?
gr. Rob
I think the hd is about same dimension and weight as the omnia and that's to big and heavy for me. That's why i say htc diamond was almost perfect. I dont like something to big and heavy.

Thank you for the info. I think diamond is gonna be phone that suites me the most with a extended battery. I know other htc are brilliant machines like the hd but is just to big for me. The htc touch pro is it about the same size as htc diamond with extended battery? And how battery on htc touch pro? I would of like aswell some info on touch 3g but i guess ain't so popular yet..

Tera Vs TP2 (Rhodium)

Hi All,
I went to the shop today looking for a new phone, originally it was to be the HD2, but the phone is just way too big for my liking.
I am now back to square one as I held back getting the Rhodium thinking the HD2 would be the one for me.
I have now see the Tera and was wondering if it is worth the wait, and if it is technically better. (I don't mind the smaller screen in comparison to the Rhodium)
Please could you guys advise me.
Cheers,
Jason

I personally would not go for a screen smaller than 3.5" so I prefer Rhodium
Tera pros: 3.6mm, a slightly better processor, but other than that they are almost the same.
Rhodium for me
Get the TP2 or the HD2 depending on your keyb pref. See there respective sections for all the scoop!
i perfer tp2 since i am using video call and second camera is needed.

cheers for that, its very useful
There is no front camera on the Tera? Hmmm, but I dont use 3G calls anyways.
The slightly better processor is the only thing that's keeping me waiting right now.
I also prefer that the Tera is smaller.
Do you think it will be noticeable.
Also do you think there will be a large price premium when it comes out? TP2 has dropped a lot in price now and is a good excuse to get one.
Glad to know it helped
Well all devices when first launched are high priced, then comes a new model and prices go down, that is the way this days...
And everyday faster the "old" devices go down, even if they don´t have a year
I´ll stay with Rhodium (I payed a fair price back in october) till something really really good and a great improvement then I´ll go for it!
Perhaps a Touch Pro 3 in 2011
Hey again,
I'm pretty much on the verge of buying a TP2 now. Bidding on eBay waiting for the right price.
Any last remarks about why I should wait for the Tera? (I'm bidding really low haha)
How superior is the HD2 compared to the TP2? Will you be able to run ROM's like the HD2 on the TP2?
Thanks!
Also check Marketplace, there are a couple of Rhodiums there in a fair price
As said before I would go for Rhodium, Tera is not for me really.
Leo is better in processor and size screen, have a look on pdadb.com to see a full specs comparative.
That will depend if you need a hardware keyboard or not
Good luck and let us know what you´ve got

Help needed. :)

Hi Sensation people. Im thinking of buying the Sensation, off contract - costs a good bit of money as you all know.. So, if im investing that much money in a smartphone i need to make sure its good. According to reviews it is good, but what i really need is feedback from users. So, all i need from you is to post your thoughts/experiences about/with the Sensation so far. Thank you all, and have a nice day.

HTC Sensation + Cyanogenmod 7 = The fastest phone i've ever seen. I love it so much and can't stop touching it.
Sent from my Sensation using Cyanogenmod
HTC Sensation + ARHD 3.6.1 = 1.5ghz monster performance, awesome Beats audio quality, reasonable battery life (upgrade to Anker 1900mah highly recommended) and rock solid build quality. Kicks the Galaxy S2s ass performance wise once flashed and doesn't feel plastic fantastic. IMHO it's the best dual core phone available to date.
buy it u won't b disappointed ....its good quality and there is a lot of dev for it ....HTC is excellent with their updates compare to other devices ....I currently have g2x and sensation and I'm thinking of getting the the new galaxy but the sensation is pretty much top of the line but one thing for sure do what jedi2011 said and get the anker battery cuz it makes a big difference .....longest lasting battery on any android device I ever owned ..... get it ! u won't b dissapointed

The phone is truly just amazing. For a phone so good, and so fast though, there are a few things that take away from it's greatness.
Screen is So Big!
This is both good and bad, good, because who doesn't love a huge screen? Bad, because every 10 games I download I'd say, about, two of them either make the screen looked washed until you shut off phone, or they only take up about 60% of the screen... which rly sucks.
Battery Life'
With a phone so beast, of course battery life is going to be an issue.. if you use your phone often during the day, pick up another battery, preferably an Anker 1900 mAh off a trust ebay seller, don't think a 1900 mAh for $10 or less is real.. trust me..
Other
My old phone was a Samsung Vibrant and I loved it. Is old it on ebay, and bought an HTC Sensation off craigslist BRAND NEW, for $410, no contract. Out of 10 stars I would give the sensation an 8.5 because the phone is just amazing, beats the iphone 4 any day, and is just amazing, but here and there it has a few problems, nothing big, but a decent amount of very small ones. Some include:
-Screen Creaks when the phone is squeezed.
-It is so light I could crush it in my hand.
-I hear many users get Dust under the screen, which can't be cleaned.
-Rooting is simple, yet more difficult compared to other phones.
-Wallpapers never work fine. They get too stretched, and ones that are HD that you think are fine, are clear, but you can never get the full pic for a wallpaper, I have no idea why HTC never did anything about this.
So In my opinion, get the phone if you're paying around $400 or less for a brand new one, otherwise pay no more than $300 for a used one. Check craigslist in your area, then maybe check on ebay for better deals on the phone. It's a fantastic device, and you will not be disappointed!

[Q] Which WP7.5 to buy?

Hi there,
My HTC HD2 (WP7.5) died on me last week, now I'm considering buying a new phone. I need at least a 4.3" screen and good battery life, I was thinking about the HTC Titan, any other advice?
Thanks!
but the Lumia 900...that's the best phone with a very good battery life
Titan doesn't sport a good battery life as compared to lumia
Yep Lumia 900 is probably the better option, I have owned a Titan and even with the Evo 3D battery which fits nicely @ 1730mah compared to the standard 1600mah and used to last me on average usage about two days, Heavier use would be just over a day& half, Better than most but not quite good enough in my opinion.
Lumia 900 All the day but remember that phone does not get lot of hacks. So if you dont want those, 900 is the best choice.
thanks for the replies guys, I considered the Lumia 900 but it's almost double of the price of a Titan over here.
With my HD2 I had only 1 day battery life with WP7.5, so I think I can manage with 2 days on the Titan
I picked up the Dell Venue Pro on eBay for $125 and upgrades to 7.5, 4.1 inch screen plus a slide down keyboard,i deff like it, might be worth a shot..
http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cell-Phones-Smartphones-/9355/i.html?_sop=1&_nkw=dell+venue+pro
Samsung Focus S - non-pentile screen, can easily use WindowBreak to put homebrew apps on, good battery life, really thin, 4.3" screen.
Its not LTE, but on HPSA I get anywhere between 2-4 mb/sec which is good enough.
I bought mine off contract on Ebay from Gazelle - under $180 shipped in excellent condition.
Oh wow thats pretty sweet, should have thought to check out Gazelle. Might have to give them a look. I wish this Dell had a Micro-SD card slot tho..

@bigkevbosky: The Focus has a 4.0" screen, not 4.3". It's a nice screen, but it will feel noticeably smaller in the hand of somebody used to the HD2/HD7.

No I meant the Focus S - it's 4.3. I had a Focus, great phone, but the Focus S is basically a Galaxy S II clone, which isn't a bad thing at all. Plus the Focus S has a non-pentile screen, so not only is it a bit bigger, but there's less jagged edges around things like white text on a black background and such.
Go for the Lumia 900 of course. Don't look elsewhere.
It got the hardware, it got the LOOKS, plus, its Nokia
And i guess, it meets all your demands.
finished buying the Titan, received it today, first impression is WOW!
