Same Here
Im having the same problem. I have tried a few of the tweaks in the general threads but still no luck. I started a registry comparison against my Tilt that works but havn't found anything yet. If you find a solution please post it.
good luck!

Tried replacing VoiceCommand with older version that works on the Mogul - and that doesn't fix this problem.
When an incoming call is received, MSVC creates a .wav file in \Application Data\Volatile called TTSCallerID.wav.
At least on my TP, this file is being created when each call is received - and when the .wav file is played through Windows Media Player, it has the correct announcement for the incoming call.
The problem may not be with MSVC but with how the TP phone is handling the ring.
Using a Registry Editor, I forced the ringtone by setting \\HKCU\ControlPanel\Sound\RingTone0\Sound to the \Application Data\Volatile\TTSCallerID.wav.
When the next call comes in, then there isn't any ringtone - just the called ID announcement.
Unfortunately, manually changing this creates some side-effects...
It breaks the toggle between Vibrate mode and Ringer set by using the "Quick" menu (long hold END key). Vibrate turns on, but restoring to Ringer doesn't work.
And, when the phone ringer screen is entered, the above override is removed and replaced with a ring tone.
I've compared the registry settings with my Mogul - which was working properly for incoming call announcements - and everything seems to match.
I also did a hard reset of the phone, and tried doing incoming call announcements immediately after the hard reset - and on my phone - I can not get the incoming call announcements to work - even without any additional applications or settings installed.
Seems like the hard part is working - getting the caller ID announcement generated - the failure is in getting the generated .wav file played as the ringtone.
Friends!
I always keem my system volume low but ring volume at 80%. But when I receive the SMS it Notificatio plays at system volume, not at ring volume. Now how can I recover SMS notification Volume at ringer volume.
Is it so that, SMS alert Volume is System based Volume, not Phone base Volume ?
Previously I was using Photo Contact Pro but I have removed that, after that this issue arise.
I have this problem too..i dont want my System Volume at 100%, but i want to hear my incoming SMS...
Any solutions? Its it possible to put SMS and Mail tones into the Ringtone category?

Any help on this would be useful; as stated, it seems that the sms alert is system volume rather than ring volume, is this correct?
Thanks.
I have to +1 this, on my touch hd same thing, it's just plain stupid that MS put the reminders, sms and stuff to system volume!!! I see no point in doiing so, nobody with a fix for that?
Anything on this?
A bit different, but: Is there a programm that forces SMS notifications to vibrate/ring more than one time?

Not a real solution but a work around is you can increase the volume of the wav file you use for SMS notification.
Its very simple, copy the wav file to your XP desktop (not sure if vista is similar) and right cligh the file and choose record. Then from Effect choose "Increase Volume" and save file and copy back to your phone and use it as you SMS notification. If you need it to sound higher, click "Increase Volume" as many time as you want.
same problem here!
so far, i merged the system and ringer together and kip all of them at 100%, but i have to remember every time I'm listening to some music and decrees the volume to put the volume up again!
there must be a way ... please help
I have added to "my Ring Tones" a couple of tracks which fit the pitch of my hearing (which isn't the best). However, If i change to profile (silent) then return, the factory based ring tones show - not my specifics even though those specifics remain in my RingTones folder.
This phone - which I like, has so many really annoying idiosyncracies. Like defaulting to Touch Keypad when I've set the default to Key Pad!
Would someone tell me what i might be doing wrong - or have left out.
Yhanks

I have a 12 Lite, but I'm guessing this might be similar for all 12 models.
I'm using the standard Google Messages app, and I like to set different sound notifications for text messages from certain contacts. So to start, I go into the main Messages settings area, then Notifications, Incoming Messages, and set a universal ringtone sound we'll call "A". So far so good. Then I go into a conversion I want to make unique, hit the three dots, Details, Notifications, and change the Sound to ringtone "B".
Problem is, changing to ringtone "B" for a specific contact also goes back and changes it to "B" for the universal ringtone for everybody. Then if I go back to re-set the universal ringtone to "A", it also overwrites the specific one I had set for my unique contact. I can't keep them separate.
I've also tried doing this from the main Settings app, and it behaves the same way (I think they both end up in the same place anyhow)
Has anyone successfully set unique text notification sounds for specific contacts?
