Im having the same problem. I have tried a few of the tweaks in the general threads but still no luck. I started a registry comparison against my Tilt that works but havn't found anything yet. If you find a solution please post it.
good luck!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440094

Tried replacing VoiceCommand with older version that works on the Mogul - and that doesn't fix this problem.
When an incoming call is received, MSVC creates a .wav file in \Application Data\Volatile called TTSCallerID.wav.
At least on my TP, this file is being created when each call is received - and when the .wav file is played through Windows Media Player, it has the correct announcement for the incoming call.
The problem may not be with MSVC but with how the TP phone is handling the ring.
Using a Registry Editor, I forced the ringtone by setting \\HKCU\ControlPanel\Sound\RingTone0\Sound to the \Application Data\Volatile\TTSCallerID.wav.
When the next call comes in, then there isn't any ringtone - just the called ID announcement.
Unfortunately, manually changing this creates some side-effects...
It breaks the toggle between Vibrate mode and Ringer set by using the "Quick" menu (long hold END key). Vibrate turns on, but restoring to Ringer doesn't work.
And, when the phone ringer screen is entered, the above override is removed and replaced with a ring tone.
I've compared the registry settings with my Mogul - which was working properly for incoming call announcements - and everything seems to match.
I also did a hard reset of the phone, and tried doing incoming call announcements immediately after the hard reset - and on my phone - I can not get the incoming call announcements to work - even without any additional applications or settings installed.
Seems like the hard part is working - getting the caller ID announcement generated - the failure is in getting the generated .wav file played as the ringtone.

Losing SMS & Email Alert Tones

Hi All, I've noticed that a few times my TC has stopped playing alerts for SMS & Emails. I've gone into the "alerts & notifications" page, and when I select the SMS or Email drop down and hit the play button, it still doesn't work. (Standard phone call ringer still works though)
As soon as I change the choice of alert, and back again, it starts working again.
Any idea what's causing it to stop, or maybe hang? I've tried using different tones, but it's still the same; works for a while and then doesn't.
try after changing u,r sound profile.
FWIW, I had the same problem with my Touch/Elf when using an MP3 for alerts. Sounds like a little software bug to me.
jefmcg, I've tried changing the MP3s to WAV but it still happens.
Alipi, you seem to be right, it happens after I've change to silent and back again. It doesn't seem to put the email and SMS tone back to normal volume.
Does anyone else have this issue?
I'm using the O2 profiles app to change profiles, as the HTC home one doesn't allow you to put any additional ones on. I like to have a "sleep" profile, which doesn't beep for SMS or email, but does ring the phone.
Open to any suggestions or workarounds!

Hi,
I have the same problem. But until today I though I´m alone . And I haven´t investigate that it arises after I switched form silent to "normal". Have to look into this as well...
Sorry, but I haven´t got any workaround, maybe someone else...
Pobably dont belong in this thread but i have the exact same issue/problem with my Tmo Wing, everytime i change the sms tone (incoming text) it works fine for the first 5 or so text but after that just goes silent when receiving new ones...a fix or advice would really be appreciated...i have no clue
UPDATE!
Ok, so I'm an idiot!
I thought I had deleted the mp3 versions of my ringtones and replaced them with wav files, but I hadn't. I've since done it, and whilst they do sound slightly different (crap converter?), it SEEMS to have fixed the problem....
...at least I've tried to move in and out of silent a few times, and the tones still sound!
So, guys, perhaps try converting them to WAV and go from there. FYI, my tones sit in the windows folder.

No - for some strange reason, ring tones need to be in \WINDOWS\RINGS, but SMS and other notification tones need to be in \WINDOWS.
Yet Another Update!
OK, so converting to WAV, only worked for a while, it did eventually stop beeping for texts and emails.
HOWEVER... philip gave me a great recommendation of PocketZenPhone, which is much more powerful at managing profiles, and especially on the text and email alerts, ACTUALLY WORKS!

Partial fix for Voice Command call announcements

This isn't a complete solution - but it's an improvement.
With this fix - the ring tone will play for a second and then be cut off by the call announcement. The announcement will be at a lower volume. The announcement will repeat - the ring tone will not be played again.
NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD ATTEMPT THIS FIX IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE IN UPDATING YOUR REGISTRY.
Change the following registry keys:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\TTSAnnounce\Category
change from VoiceCommand1 to Ring
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\TTSAnnounce\Script
change from as5p to v0p (that's v-zero-p) - for vibrate & ring, or p (ring only)
The above fix seems to get the announcements reliably, and doesn't break the set vibrate/set ringer features in the TF3D interface.
Hopefully we can find a better solution - that will restore the full functionality of Voice Command incoming call announcements - and not need this hack.
Another option is to manually overwrite the ringtone file name:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Sound
change to \Application Data\Volatile\TTSCallerID.wav
This fix replaces the ringtone with the call announcement - and at full volume.
BUT this solution has several problems, including breaking the set vibrate/set ringer feature in TF3D.

Ringer delay causing lots of missed calls.

My phone has a very noticeable delay on incoming calls. I'll see it light up and flash for a bit, take a few seconds to get caller ID, then it will finally ring once before going to voicemail. All the while the caller is hearing the phone ring but I'm not...I tested it. Since I don't stare at my phone all day I have a high volume of missed calls because many times I only get the last ring. Any ideas what's going on? I tinkered with settings in Advanced Config and DiamondTweak. No dice. I'm using the stock Fuze Rom.
Isn't this normal behavior?
I've set my Kaiser on GSM mode and I can hear calls coming in on my computer's speakers a full 2-3 seconds before the phone actually rings.

I have the same problem (htc org. rom)
Maybe this will work
I noticed that when someone calls my phone, they get two rings before my ringtone turns on.
After a second, my Fuze's LED starts flashing, then my ringtone starts playing after another second.
I have an idea:
1. Go into "Start > Settings > Phone"
2. Go to the "Services" tab
3. Highlight "Call forwarding" and then click the "Get Settings..." button.
4. Change the "Forward after:" dropdown box to something higher (e.g. "30 seconds")
It won't help the ring delay, but I think this will give you a little more time before the call is sent to your voicemail. I haven't tried it, but let me know if that helps

I wouldn't call this normal. This is the first mobile phone that I've had that has had delays that long. If I didn't keep my phone next to me for most of the day, I'd probably miss more of my calls as well.

I agree with you, this lag is very big problem, I missed a lot of calls, most of people must call me again because they are forwarding to voicemail at first time before I find TP (I cannot change in forwarding to 30 sec.
I'm wondering how it is in Diamond.
This is very frustrating. Nothing seems to fix this problem. I've reduced the call ID match to five digits instead of eight. I've made sure that Ring Time is set to "without delay" in DiamondTweak. I'll try the idea to change the call forwarding time but this seems to be a major problem in the OS itself. With this issue, Voice Command problems, the GPS lag and other issues I might have to jump to another phone.
Do cooked ROMS have these same issues?
I've got the same issue.. using T.I.R. V8R ROM, so yes, this delay is present also on custom ROMS. It has to do with the dialer skin?
This was discussed in a thread on an app that causes the vibrate pattern to match the ring pattern in hacks & discussions (I think called VAlert). The vibrate pattern starts immediately and the ring is delayed so the app isn't perfect (unless you build a delay into the vibrate but that's separate). The solution seems to be an app from tweaks2k2.net that I hear removes the delay. This is an issue with all WM phones. I haven't tried tweaks2k2 but I hear it works.
the tweaks2k2 fix - to eliminate the 3 second ringer delay - didn't work for me. so i went into the network phone settings and set the call forwarding to 25 seconds (it was 10). that didn't fix the ringer delay but now at least my phone rings three or four times before going to voicemail. i guess that will have to do for now.

it don't work sorry
Doing some debugging, on the Fuze at least the ringer delay seems to be tied to the bloatedness of the dialer.. it has a whole bunch of imports so its loading alot of stuff up every time you get an incoming call.. I'm afraid the only solution for this will be a dialer that does not bring in those kind of dependancies (PTT, Video Share, G-Sensor, etc)
The fastest way to go would be using the default windows dialer, but you'd lose all that functionality.. but hey. It would ring instantly!
I'll look into stripping the dialer from my clean ROM and providing a cab..
Confirmed. Removed the AT&T dialer skin from my rom and called my phone, rang as fast as any other phone would.. So the dialer skin is indeed the culprit.
Dang AT&T. Dang them and all their bloatware.
I'm going to corporate store to complaint. To all of them within a 10 mile radios.
I've posted my Beta 1.5 with the dialer removed. It's not an official fix by AT&T, but it is a fix..
I'll see if I can whip up a .cab to stop the dialer from loading in the stock AT&T ROM, that should help there too.
i like this dialer...but not that much. how do i disable it? in advanced config, i saw an option to enable the phone dialer skin or the default windows mobile dialer. would switching to the default fix it without causing any other problems?
EDIT: switched to default dialer and that fixed it. it also seems to have fixed the problem of having to re-enter the data connection password after a soft reset.
This set of cab's should do the job for anyone who doesn't want to install Advanced Config (it's a single registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin - Enabled=0/1)
Wow it really is about two seconds before the phone rings. Hm I never missed a call yet on this phone. where do you keep your phone that it takes so long to answer it?
AT&T's network lets you set the number of seconds before the call rolls over to voicemail, as do others, I believe the default on AT&T is 20 seconds, with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 30, so if someone has it set to 5, that leaves only 3 seconds..
Of course they could just set it higher, but that's a different issue
So then a simple fix would be to go into your voicemail and set it to 22 seconds and then you still have the same time to pick up that phone. But still how does the 2 second dely really make you miss all them calls?

vibration duration?

I'm Running NATF v4.7 on my fuze and everything works great nice and speedy. The only question I have and this really isn't ROM specific I don't think, is there a way to change the duration of the vibrate when you get a new sms? I keep my phone on vibrate most of the day on my desk and the way it is now it's about a 8 second vibrate and its more of a ringtone then a quick alert.
~Thanks
have you looked into the sms notification in sounds and notifications in settings
to see what you can do with the settings there?
I have , all you can do from there is turn vibration on and off but not change how long it will vibrate.
I was also wondering the same thing. I just got my fuze the other day and first thing i did was flash NATF's 4.7 so i thought it was the device.. Do other roms not vibrate as long for a sms?
Also there are registry keys to edit the script of rings and alarms etc.. if we can find the one for sms we can tell if its fixable or not.
theres actually an app for this....its called VA alert and you can find it on blownfuze.org
Thanks for recommending that site, got some interesting apps on it. BUT VAlert (i think thats what you were referring to) only edits the ringtone script.
blownfuze.org said:
For incoming calls you definitely want VAlert1.21 (updated) by this guy which will let you customize down to the millisecond the pulsing patterns of the vibrator so that it gets your attention better than it otherwise would. I don't know if there's a similar thing for text and email but get this and subscribe to the thread for updates.

I searched through the registry and could not find a script for text messages.
Anyone that has used NATF's 4.7 rom and another rom, is the text vibrate duration the same, or shorter on other roms?

I've used about ∞ roms and so far with all of them they all have a long vibration for if you have the phone on any setting above just vibrate, and then have a three pulse vibration for if you have the phone set on just vibrate. I've also wanted to change this too a different setting, but unfortunately the closest thing thats ever came up is VAlert, and that doesnt deal with SMS . I've also looked in the registry, but I couldn't find anything
if you go to [HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Ringtone0\] You have the String Value "Script" By default it is av0pw3r [a=activate, v=vibrate, 0, p=play, w=wait, 3 seconds, r=repeat]
So this tells the device when you get a call it should activate the device, vibrate 0 (continuoulsy, if it was 1, it would only vibrate for a second) play the ringtone, wait 3 seconds, then repeat.
I'm pretty sure VAlert is just so you don't have to edit the registry manually.
NOW to our situation, since "Ringtone0" is for incoming call ringtone, maybe we can manually add a new key that refers to the new message sound and manually add a script and see if that works? ANyone have any ideas what the device refers to for new messages?

Ringtone1? Ringtone2? Maybe the numbers are used to designate different types of incoming data

Please help: my PPC won't ring at ALL! :(

Everything worked fine until I installed MS Voice command 1.6. At first incoming calls would still ring fine, but then I tried to enable the "announce incoming calls" option and instead the phone stopped ringing completely AND also did not announce incoming calls.
I've tried disabling that option, disabling Voice Command altogether, uninstalling Voice Command completely and rebooting, and all without success. Incoming calls produce no ring sound at all, under any circumstances. I've checked and double checked all sound & notification settings, ring volume, settings etc, and nothing makes any difference. Voice command must have changed some registry setting somewhere and I just cannot get it to change back, no matter what I do.
Can anyone help? Is there any way to restore the ring function? The little incoming call window pops up but there is just no ring sound, at all, ever. It works fine when I test/preview the ring under settings, but not when a call comes in!!
