Issue after installing Roms - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

After I install a ROM, it always seems that my connection settings are off.
I can never get my 3G connection, or MMS / Email does not work as well.
I have searched the form to see what i could set as a connection, but do not know what to fill out for the proxy / WAP / etc... settings
please help
Thank You

Newbie here, but will try to help.
Most will tell you to do a search on the forums as you will be able to find limitless answers regarding most answers. That is still the proper way to go as you can find specific answers to your specific needs.
That being said, I may be able to help you if you are on AT&T. You can check this forum as they posted an answer to how to connect to MediaNet...
http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/...ngular&message.id=73574&query.id=25045#M73574
You may also want to look at the Radio sticky. From what I understand, different cooks use different radios in their ROMs and, while they may be very good, radios are very fickle things. Radios that work great in LA may not work so great in NYC, etc. So, if changing your settings don't work, maybe a new radio will...
Hope this helps...

GPS always trying to connect via MY ISP GPRS with WM6.1

Ok so every time I try to connect to my GPS via Google Maps and Live Search my phone trys to connect to "MY ISP GPRS" and I get:
Dialed isp.cingular
cannot connect
error. I do not know why it does this. I have tried to remove hidden proxy still does it. tried restoring hidden proxy still the same. manually connected to COM4 still the same thing.
I have no GPS, is there a fix to this?
Also I am using ALEX's WM 6.1
first off what operating sys are you on att..vodafone..etc??
it looks to me that you have att...well you would first need to get the cab that you can find around here just search that would set all of your internet configuration....also with all these 6.1 roms there has been a problem with gps that has not been solved yet.....but fyi google will use your gps plus your operators internet to get access....it used both so if you dont have internet google is no good.....after that you just need to sit tight until one of these great chefs find the gps prob on 6.1...if you cant wait revert back to 6.0 for now....also check your radio version i think that has to do with a lot with gps also!!!
search search search...thats the way of the gods!!!!
good luck!!
thanks i have been looking for a while I may go back to 6.0 for a minute until everything is fixed.
I had this problem too. I performed a hard reset and didn't allow the connection setup to run. I entered the data conection info by hand. I also only have the single my isp created. it just points to wap.cingular
I also haven't turned on a-gps in schaps adv config.
so far no issues with the dial error cropping up.

_Alex's_ 6.1 ROM Issues

I've had this problem int he past. I put a ROM on a friends phone and everything works great including internet, TCP-IP apps work good.
Except E-Mail.
When using E-Mail connecting to GPRS, 3G shows up twice ending with a dialog that says:
CANNOT CONNECT FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again.

I tried to fix by installing Cingular WAP MediaNet MMS Settingsv2a.cab but this did not help.
Again I've been out of the ROM flashing scene for a while so any advice for someone who hasn't flashed a ROM in about 5 months is welcome. If Alex's ROM is obsolete and poor on the new Tilt's, let me know.
We're on ATT of course.
I've fixed the issue.
For those who want to know, I changed the connection ISP.CINGULAR to WAP.CINGULAR.
The username changed from [email protected] to [email protected].
This was done under connection settings.
I actually had to do this about 6 months ago as well. However either moderators deleted the old thread about it, or Google does not index the forums that far. As always, the forums built-in search sucks.
Thanks for reading.

Skyfire not working with cooked rom

Hi,
I have tried everything I can think of from changing the data settings to disabling HSDPA. When I use a custom ROM (and I have tried many different ROMs), there are times that I cannot connect to the internet through Skyfire or Opera (and some times PIE). This does not happen all the time, it seems to happen more when I am connected through HSDPA; yet turning HSDPA off does not change anything. Does anyone know if AT&T USA needs a special connection setting? I show that I am connected through "MEdia Net (HSDPA)" when this happens and not 3G or E.
[[edit]] The reason it is posted in the Rom forum is becasue this only happens when using a cooked ROM
You are correct you this post will most probably be booted from here since you should post the problem in the specific rom development thread, but there are no special settings for at&t it should work right off the bat, try establishing a connection with IE first and see if that fixes anything. Also you may want to check and see if the proxy is enabled if so disable it, the at&t proxy does sometimes stop connections with certain programs, i know it stopped the weather app for a while.
Definitely will not work right out of the box. erandhawa is on the right track with the ATT settings. you do need to kill off the proxy.
it sounds like you go from cooked rom to stock just to get your phone working. with that in mind it would seam also that your not changing the radio. make sure that your changing the radio too as just about every rom performs differently with every radio.
I did not post it in the spicific Rom thread becasue this happens on 5 of the roms I use. Well after talking to Skyfire for a while it turns out I do need to disable the proxy (thanks Erandhawa and Peterfnet). As soon as I disabeled the proxy {Start --> Settings --> Connections --> Connections --> Advanced --> Select networks --> MEdia Net --> Edit... --> Proxy Settings --> Uncheck "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet"} I than soft reset and it works great. I also now get weather and my active sync still works. Thanks guys
I know this is a simular post to another skyfire, the difference is this only happened with custom roms.
good to see things worked...just remember everytime u flash a new rom ur gonna have to disable that proxy...also didn't mean an offence i've just seen mods toss posts because they are in the wrong section but the good thing is u got it resolved before the posts got tossed

Bluetooth PAN problem

Hi everyone. I looked for this but didn't find any response.
First to get everything clear:
I use Timolol's stock-like WM6.5 b23007 ROM for Touch Pro and having difficulties with the Bluetooth PAN connection.
My computer does not recognize the device and on the device I cannot change the settings for bluetooth PAN (IP address and so on...)
Should I ask this question in the ROM thread?
I am still a noob so please take me easily. Also tell me if this has already been asked and I'm too dumb to find it. In that case I apologize.

Thanks for response. Yes, I did read that but got stuck at the first point:
1.Go to Start > Settings > Conections > Network Cards
The reason? I have no such thing in my settings > Connections, Settings > Personal, Settings > System or the main Settings tab in the start menu. I mentioned that I use WM 6.5 and this ROM doesn't have those settings as it seems...
Anyway, not a problem anymore because if I connect my phone via activesync, I can browse the internet anyway and check my email. Just out of curiosity, is this a WM 6.5 only feature? Or it's available on 6.1 too?
Thanks for the response anyway.
in wm6.1 it's located in
settings->connections->WI-FI->Network adapters
even if it's tech not wifi then all network adapters are located in there
can't say for wm6.5
just checked the wm6.5 emulator and there it's in
settings->connections->network cards
I managed to get it working thanks.

Here is my own aGPS settings cab.
Created originally for my Raphael, but works perfectly fine on my Rhodium (Touch Pro 2) and should work on any other WM6.1/5 aGPS capable device.
This replaces the default aGPS server to the one GOOGLE aGPS server. This has been found to dramaticaly increase GPS lock speed! After applying this cab i get cold Locks in about 20 seconds and warm gps lock in under 15!
Don't be scared to try it out as its easy to revert to defualt settings!
Try it out and report your results!
I created this so I can just add it to my UC list making life easier in setting up a rom after flashing and thought others might benefit from it.
Feel free to comment, hate, or appreciate
If there is a demand, i can easily delete the At&t bit and so its more generic, also if you want this adapted for your provider, reply with your APN and GPRSConnection and i can create the cab for you
It sets the following in the [HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL aGPS\] Registry
DynamicURL to supl.google.com (searched on the internet and many people claim much faster locks than the default h-slp.mnc410.mcc310.pub.3gppnetwork.org)
EnableAGPS 1 (so aGPS is enabled in settings)
EnableLocInfo 0 Unchecks "Enable AGPS loation information to network services. Operator can get your location information." From the Privacy tab of the AGPS Settings
ServerIP to 74.125.113.192
ServerURL and TLSHostName to supl.google.com
Decided to just make a Generic one that sets the nokia aGPS server, enables aGPS, disables Location info and no network configuration.
[UPDATE: The cabs are the SAME as the previous ones titled FF ATT/Fido/Generic Nokia aGPS Settings, I just changed Nokia to Ultimate because I was getting PMs on how to install them on nokia devices]
update 3/30/10: updated the cabs to use the google supl which is provided on android devices!
There is no need for carrier specific settings, they should automaticly fill in from info already on your device. If you go to HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL aGPS\ and APN, Network, and GPRSConnection are empty after you've installed the cab and soft reseted, then post here and i will make carrier specific cabs.
[06/08/2010] Re-attached the supl.nokia cab as requested. Please test and compare to the newly attached "FF Ultimate aGPS Tweak_supl.google_Generic.cab" and report your results.
When i ping supl.nokia.com requests time out leading me to believe nokia's servers are down, or they changed them to something else.
With FF Ultimate aGPS Tweak_suple.google_Generic.cab i get a lock in under 15seconds, even after hard reset!!

Finch, did you try the cab? what's the feedback on it working with Fido?
Now only thing left is to find a way to trick the phone into thinking it's on Roger's instead of Fido and get rid of that roaming problem.

If you don't want to try the fido cab, go ahead and try the Generic cab which doesn't touch any of the apn/data settings.

Auto Connect?
Hi, I have installed the generic cab. But one question: do I have to establish the data connection by myself manually? I mean, applications like explorer or email do connect automatically once they need it. Apparently AGPS doesn't.
Further, as far as I understand, the generic cab should work everywhere if not limited by your carrier, right? I wonder if it works in Singapore though. Any ideas?

Not 100% sure if it is supposed to activate the data connection or not. If it doesn't, just fire up internet explorer before you decide to use your GPS to have a data connection.
And the generic cab is without data settings, so yes it should work in singapore or with any carrier

and about the big brother comment, thats why this cab does the following
EnableLocInfo 0 Unchecks "Enable AGPS loation information to network services. Operator can get your location information." From the Privacy tab of the AGPS Settings

so this doesn't let big brother follow, although, if he did want to he really could and we can't do anything about that
glad this helping people out as it did me!
So wait, we can use any of them on any carrier or....
Which one do i use for tmobile>?
I installed the generic one on my TP which is on T-Mobile UK.
It did not seem to get a quick lock when I had the data connection disabled.
I enabled the data connection and it seemed to get a quick lock.
So I take it that the generic one will not fire up your data connection itself, but if you get an operator specific one it can?
If so, could I have a version for T-Mobile UK please? I am not sure what the password is, these are the settings I can find on my phone:
APN: general.t-mobile.co.uk
User: T-mobile
Pass: ??? (Starred out)
Is there not maybe some way of taking this info from the phone or automating this process so you dont have to make unique versions of this app?
And what about QuickGPS, does this make it redundant?
Thanks
What about touch pro cdma? Should this work for CDMA? I see no APN key in registry. How could I make it work?
Thanks.
