The reason I am posting this in ROM development is due to the high number of posts I see in various ROMs asking about at&t internet and MMS settings.
When I upgraded to WM 6.1 I had to find out the hard way that the HTC autoconfig program that starts after a hard reset works, but causes various issues. When I tried to fix the issues, I caused different problems and could never get my email to send and receive until after it had done so on an automatic schedule, which is weird. Along with other anomalies.
I apologize for the redundant thread, but it might cut down on even more threads if more people on at&t were told not to use autoconfig and instead used this simple cab file:
at&t and MMS

Note: this cab may not fix problems that already occur, even if the settings are deleted before installing. If you ran the autoconfig instead of disabling it, then it might be time to have fun with a new ROM and/or setup
It's hard to keep all of this info organized and XDA does a great job. I hope that if this info is mass distributed, as it already is in the beginning posts of some ROMs, that it might save time for more important things.
I have never had any issues with HTC's Autoconfig not working perfectly for me on AT&T's network. The only network feature I don't use on my Tilt is Blackberry Connect.
could this be why my phone gets no service on 3G mode? i have tried everything but nothing is working. But the weird thing is that on edge it works perfectly fine. does anybody have a solution for this.
It really doesn't take long (a few minutes at most) to manually do the settings .. And this way you know and learn what your device is really set up for instead of relying on others.

pro, I don't think the internet settings are why you are dropping calls.
It is a setting in kaiser tweak. I could be wrong, but I think it is caused by a fast sleep option. I know I read it somewhere, but ages ago.
i dont have kaiser tweaks installed.. do you know what thread you read that in?
no, I am sorry but I have no time to help tonight. I would recommend a hard reset that will delete everything on your main device and restore it to factory default. Activesync should save your contacts. This will let you know if you have a possible hardware issue.
Read the wiki for directions, and then read some more. I'm always learning more about this phone.

IF you have hardspl and know how to flash a rom, you could try a different setup (ROM). If it doesn't work, then you need to revert your phone back to normal and send it in for warranty.

as long as you are using wap.cingular as your APN and [email protected] password1, it works.
When I flashed my rom, it auto detected (laurenitis26's v2) it put in isp.cingular as the apn, which as memory serves me right is the tethering portal, so if you don't have tethering set up, you will have issues. if you do have tethering, WAP.cingular is unlimited internet, isp.cingular is 5gb per month.

Actually you can now leave the username and password fields blank. ATT changed their settings and its no longer needed (but it still works with it if you choose). Its even documented in the KnowledgeBase article I posted above.

to be more specific the isp.cingular connection is the PDA connection is the straight connection not behind a proxy. WM is smart and some things it needs a connection without a proxy but Att offers media next cheaper than the PDA connect so most users (myself included) have to use wap.cingular otherwise the phone won't connect .
This isn't really a problem so much as really irritating, I'd like for ATT to come down on the price for the PDA connect....

you need to unlock the phone first of course. you can find the relevant information on this forum if you search for it. You don't necessarily have to flash it, but you prob don't want all the AT&T bloatware.
As far as I know, Telus is going to be the only carrier with Touch Pro, so you're better off buying a Fuze from the states and "smuggle" it across border (or you can always pay the tax at border )
Unlocking the Fuze
SlingPlayer Mobile is installed on the Fuze...
However, despite the 3G symbol being there, "Cannot Connect" shows up.
It leads to Settings for Connections.
Rogers Wireless 3G settings...Is there a tutorial?
Is there a step-by-step tutorial on setting up the Fuze with Rogers Wireless so that SlingPlayer Mobile works with 3G, instead of getting "Cannot Connect"?

not exactly but its really simple, first off, what have you done to your phone thus far? are you using a stock rom or custom rom? etc
I am also going to assume you have entered your slingbox info into the application.
I am using fuse on rogers network with NATF rom with Dara Plan, and nothing realy needed after i poped the sim in, it found anything there is to be found, and Ta-Da! It's working flawlessly so far.

1. I went Start, Settings, Connections Tab, Connections Icon, My ISP and Add a new modem connection.

Next
Access... : internet.com
Next
User... : wapuser1
Password: wap
Domain: left it blank
Finish
Now SlingPlayer Mobile and Weather works.
However, Internet browsing, E-mail, Messages...all don't work

Nice you found lurch's cab. install it anyways so you have mms working. I thought auto configuration was installed on the fuze by default, but it was a while ago. for internet you need to disable the proxy that is on the fuze (set up for AT&T users)
First on the overall end with the disable proxy cab
and then you need to do it in opera, since you clearly have made a decent attempt at using the search function, i will just attach the cabs here, let me know if it works

depending on how you unlocked the phone, you may have already lost the warranty. if that's the case, flash away~
oh...and even after you flash it, you can always reflash it back to stock rom

OK...first, about the warranty, the place I bought it from unlocked it and said 7 day replacement, 1 year servicing. I've never used the HardSPL, etc...I think I want to wait before I go that way until after the year is up.

Good news! Installing only "Lurch3559-Rogers.cab" (and not the VPN one) plus the two posted earlier in this thread did the trick. Everything works.
Next, learning how "Microsoft Direct Push" and "hotmail" work, and if they can work together. I got my hotmail addy working, but I have to go in and "Send and Receive" to get it to show new e-mails. I want it to do that automatically. Then, to get "Messenger" (IM) working. It just keeps saying "Signing in..."

did you ever have any luck with getting Messenger to work, and hotmail to be pushed? I just got my Fuze today but it didn't come with a USB, so theres no way to get the cab file to my phone . I also now have to wait to flash the ROM, boo lol

It doest connects to the 3G network, but i receive no data, can't display any information. I don't know if the Fuze is faulted or something. Any idea???? thanks in advance.

PD: weather update works, and it connects to the 3G network. but dont work in Opera/IE
there is nothing to configure with the fuze if you are on the AT&T network. all you do is put in your sim card.
I had a few issues myself. If you were using isp.cingular then it might not connect there any more unless you purchase the tethering plan. Even then, isp.cingular will only work for direct push and tethering.

Start>>>>Setting's>>>>Connections>>>>Connections>>>>set up my proxy server>>>un-check "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"
i wound a useful thread, where you can disable some sort of hidden proxy.cab thing installed on device (programs>proxy tools), now IE works but still no luck with Opera, im looking forward to upgrade this factory AT&T Rom because i don't feel my Fuze very smoothly
PD: also check on what you suggested, but it was already unchecked.

im into another network, i bought my fuze unlocked in eBay, i tried the .cab app to uninstall hidden proxy (programs>tools>proxy) and now i can browse using IE, but not into Opera.
Im looking forward to change the factory ROM because it doesn't feel too smoothly.
Any suggested ROM/Radio to install, i really don't want cooked roms with extra apps/games

If I remember right, the default Opera browser on the Fuze is set up to only work with the proxy, so you'll have to flash a new rom most likely (but you really should do that anyway.)

i know, my bad, because i was getting errors from server, but when i find out there was 2 topics i tried to del my post, but i couldn't do it, didn't find the option, i apologize.
To help out, I merged the two threads into this one.
I hail from Karnataka, India and I own an HTC P3350 since 8 months. There is a problem with GPRS for HTC in India (some compatibility issue between HTC and network providers in India, I heard.) The GPRS never works but yet i get charged for the kb i download and it even shows up on the SPB GPRS Monitor. That's really ridiculous.
Does anyone else face the same problem? Or is it just a problem with my handset? If its a common prob, does anyone have any solution to it??
Would appreciate any inputs..

You "Heard" wrong.
it would be best if you would describe your problem in detail.
My exact simple problem is that the GPRS just wont connect. When i start something like internet explorer, it attempts to connect and ends up with the error message 'Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings.' I tapped Settings and tapped everything i could! But the result is the same.IT NEVER CONNECTS!
My network is Vodafone. I tried searching xda forums and came up with these threads -

Sorry, But you have failed to mention Which WM version you are on.
i'll Assume you are on 6.0 and above and try to help you.
You will have to follow the steps in the Airtel Live Thread to Configure your settings.
(Proxy Setting)
IMPORTANT- After you configure your proxy settings you will NOT be able to use Internet through WIFI untill you delete the Proxy Server.
In Settings > Connection > Advanced Setting you will see an option similar to "When an application request to connect to internet, use this" change it to the second option, after this you might have to reconfigure your "Vodafone GPRS" Settings. (Sorry for being so vague, but i dont use my WinMo phone anymore, however these are the Settings i needed to change to Use GPRS on it.
Even after doing this, not all applications will work.
Poke around, and if you are still getting stuck somewhere, i'll charge my phone and give you the exact procedure.

I saw some DFT clutter on some other ROM threads. It was suggested to make a new thread. I have permission from Mwang to make an error reporting thread so... here it is. Also... for all those who don't have DFT's ROM for the Gold_C you can PM Mwang for download instructions. I am working on getting permission to put links and dl instructions on this thread as well so look for updates. Thank you.
Has a newer version of the DFT rom for GOLD_C been released? One major bug is that wifi mac address changes with every reboot.

-Some programs you cant see well unless you have the theme on dark, I think I read somewhere that it was a common bug in his wp7 roms.
-Maybe not a bug but an issue (If Mwang used sprints rom as a base) the sms bug that limits you to 160 characters per text is present like in the sprint rom
It is soo much better than the the official sprint rom tho
I have been having data connection issues. I will have full service and my data connection on and apps will say I have no connection. I have tried to update my network connection and prl and this continues to be an issue. For whatever reason I can usually go into internet explorer and go to a website and that will work and then return to an app I was having issues with and then the connection works. Seems really strange to me. Anybody else else having similar problems? Any solutions out there?

I can't connect with zune anymore. Two hard resets and two reflashes later my phone is still not recognized by zune software.
I've been having issues sending MMS quite often. To fix it every time I have to go to Settings -> Cellular -> Change Network Profile & Change PRL. That and I have had a handful of random freezes occur all while in the Messaging Hub.

I had issues with mms too a hard reset resolved those
Is a newer version coming out soon for the Gold C that corrects the wifi mac issue?

I have had something similar, although I've found that the internet is working still but incredibly slow, even when connected to Wi-fi, it seems like even with Wi-fi on, the phone prefers to use the network connection. I've found that turning on airplane mode and then using Wi-fi makes the internet work fine and quick, but with both on it seems to go much slower (but not always). Other than that it seems to be working fine

I love this ROM, much better then stock but when I am on a call and the computer voice says" press 1 for xxx press 2 for yyy" I press the buttons but the system doesn;t respond like I didn't press anything at all. Also the Speaker volume seems to be 1/2 as loud. Last but not least is there a GPS program I can d/l? I used navigator all the time but since this ROM doesn't come with it I don't know what to use.

you can search for "TeleNav" in the market, "Waze" in the Bazaar, or you can search online for "Nokia Drive" xap where you would have to deploy from your computer. I'm not going to link to the Nokia Drive as I don't know how legal it is to do so.

If you didn't yet, try a hard reset. That solved all my issues. I should have remembered that from the TP2 days...
I too am having issues with the internet speeds. My phone is constantly going into 1x. i can have full bars and it still goes 1x. even with Wifi on the phone still tries to use the cellular data and if that says 1x well its slow as hell. I have re flashed the rom and also done hard resets a few times, it didn't fix it for me, i mean it works great for a little while than the same problems persist.
According to what people are saying in ansar rom, it has the same problem with the connectivity. Hopefully there will be an update to fix this.
Another bug is that picture mail fails 95% of the time. i found that if you switch wifi off and than do a reset it usually works for a few times.
I wonder if we can fix our DATA issue if we input the APN settings into the rom. I used to run droid on my tp2 and we had to configure the APN for things to work as expected. I have searched around google and such and cannot find any working APN settings. Does anyone know of any that will work or have tried it?
Hey guys first off happy Easter to everyone! Secondly, I think I might have found a workaround for the WiFi cutting out on DFT sprint rom for the arrive. If you are on this rom and you have sprint well than you probably noticed the phone always going into 1x and than the WiFi taking forever to load. I had seen a post about shutting off cellular data and that was suppose to help. Well, I tried that and it worked for a little bit but than it stopped.
What I found is that if you change the network setting from automatic to home only that the WiFi no longer cuts out. The phone still says 1x but my WiFi hasn't cut one time and beforehand it was constantly working slow and or not working at all. Also, every picture mail that I have tried to send has went through without a single fail which it was a real pain in the butt to get one to send before. I haven't done too much testing as to whether the phone works better when not in WiFi but since I'm always in the office or at home, I'm always connected. But at least now it's working much much better!
