Hi there,
I have no problem to do my mail via exchange when I disconnected from my laptop. I can receive mail as usual.
But once I activesync with my laptop, the actives sync box will show error and ask me to check my connection settings. It will no longer sync with my outlook too.
Please advise.
Depends whether your using vista or xp.
If Vista, open WMDC and select "Connection Settings".
Make sure "This computer is connected to " and put "The Internet"
Same goes for XP but in different location
got it! Thanks

Hi all,
I have an XDA IQ (HTC Tornado) device that on the whole I'm very happy with but it keeps throwing an annoying error message at me, every time I try to sync with my desktop PC.
Activesync is set up to synchronise with our corporate Exchange server, which we connect to via a private GPRS APN, which has no Internet connectivity. For my private POP3 email, I use O2's Mobile Web GPRS APN, which resolves to Internet. I've created a domain exception to ensure that whilst mobile, the correct connection is established, depending on whether I'm synchronising my private or corporate e-mail.
All is well here but when I connect to my windows PC to synchronise my other PIM data (Contacts, Calendar, Tasks & Favourites), my phone throws an error message at me, because I guess it's trying to sync to the Exchange server via my desktop PC and there is no connectivity.
The error reads: "Your Internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in Data Connections".
It makes no difference if I change my ActiveSync connection settings so that "This computer is connected to:" "Internet", "Work" or "Automatic" the error message always appears on my handset when I sync with my PC.
Can any of you think of any way around this please?
Is there any way of persuading ActiveSync not to sync with Exchange whilst connected to my PC or better still, to exclusively associate the Exchange sync with the private GPRS APN connection?
My guess is that anyone setting their device up to sync with Exchange via an internal WiFi network might be facing the same issue..
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!
I've had issues like this before but usually a reboot of the computer and phone get it working again. Make sure you've installed the certificate for your webmail (if one is required) and that you can connect to the exchange server when you're not connected to the computer. You may also be having a problem on your internal network, try connecting to webmail from your desktop as well.
Is anyone else having problems lately? It used to work fine with my Treo 750 or with my Tilt, until a week ago. It will longer start up when the device is connected or by going tp start>programs>WMDC. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled about8 times with no luck. Firewall is off so its not that
That usually happens if you happened to sync with another computer on any of the available connection methods. I recommend you delete the connection profile in WMDC after disconnecting your device, followed by deleting the sync profile from the Sync Manager in Windows Vista (if there is one), then deleting your connection profile on ActiveSynce on your Treo, then restart BOTH your computer and your Treo, and then reconnect and rebuild the sync profile as your Treo or Windows says it should be done... this applies to all Windows Mobile devices...
WMDC sure is finicky little piece of..... nevermind... :-D
I hope it works for you!
I would retart it, but I cant get WMDC or Sync to open on my PC. I think Im just gonna try to upgrade my PC to Ultimate and see it that does it. otherwise Its gonna be dual booting with XP
open up windows firewall and add an exception for wmdc.exe (or the specific ports if you do a google search for wmdc ports).
Worked fine for me after that.
Anyone here tired of that installed FBI agent Windows Vista comes with? lol
I myself cannot, and have not ever been able to sync my tytn II to my vista.
I can get the computer to recognize the connection, but cannot get wmdc to.

To pull this off you will need a second account on your Vista machine.
Click start and >> switch user. Login to your alternate windows profile.
Run WMDC. You will notice that it works on this profile. Once it finds your device, log off switch back to your main profile.
In my case this allowed WMDC to continue recognising my device and synchronisation worked fine.
i found this after more than a day on forums!
that worked only one time so the new one found: on the forums..
It requires to edit (or create) a DWORD registry key called “AllowLSP” on the desktop, in the following registry path:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
The possible decimal values are:
0: Bypass LSPs for incoming and outgoing connections.
1: Bypass LSPs for incoming connection and use LSPs for outgoing connection.
2: Use LSPs for incoming and bypass LPSs outgoing connections.
3: Use LSPs for incoming and outgoing connections.
Does anyone know how to get this working?
I have paired both the phone and the PC and ticked the bluetooth option on the sync software. I forget what is called, as its not activesync with vista.
Also does anyone know why outlook does not want to talk to my Orbit. It syncs the contacts, but not the calander?
Cheers
I use a USB connection which is much quicker. I had no problem syncing the calender, I just open WMDC, selected 'Mobile Device Settings' and then selected 'change content sync settings'. From there I checked which items I wanted to sync.
All depends on which bluetooth drivers you are using....
As far as I know...Toshiba and Microsoft stack are crap
Use widcomm drivers.... you can literally setup any bluetooth device.
I have one irritating oddity that I've experienced across several builds of windows mobile, 6.1 and 6.5. I sync my phone with work outlook via usb.
In work we have access to the internet via a proxy. My desktop runs XP and activesync 4.5, and I understand the desktop proxy settings should be passed over to windows mobile so any apps on the phone would be able to reach the internet.
The proxy address does get passed, but it appears in the "socks" entry, not the HTTP entry. I can fix this by opening activesync, click on...
file, connection settings, change "this computer is connected to" - automatic
then
file, connection settings, change "this computer is connected to" - work
then
file, connection settings, change "this computer is connected to" - automatic
then the proxy address will be in the "HTTP" and "socks" entries.
Does anyone know of any good fixes for this?
I suspect I will have to move to windows 7, but would be nice to get a quick fix, so I can just connect and go.
