HI,
3 days ago my 8500 felt into a swimming pool. I pulled it out , dried it with a hair drier and then tried to switch it on again.
The display was blinking for about 10sec and then disappeared for ever.
The display is black now and I cant switch on the 8500 anymore.
Also, ActiveSync does not recognize the device anymore.
The only life sign i get from the phone now, is the lillte red light showing that the phone is charging, but only when i connect the power cable. But the red light stays red no matter how long i connect the phon eto power...
Is somebody here , who is able to give me some advice or repair my phone ?
I think a physical surgery is needed.
Thanks

Try to google a solution, I´ve read somewhere time ago that you have to inmediatly take out the battery and submerge it in a bowl of rice, as is the best humidity abosrber.
Hope it helps
Good luck

So I wanted to see if my phone would survive a 20min dip in the pool and well it just may have. I waited a day for it dry and had it in rice to help draw out the water. It wouldnt turn on. I took it to ATT and they put in a new battery and it turned on but turned off. I left it hooked up to the charger overnight and woke up this morning to find it at the please insert SIM screen. Now I can only get it to the bootloader screen and it turns off. Anybody have some suggestions on things I can try to get it running again? Nothing is off limits since it not like i have to worry about breaking it....
Tilt2
Update: Plugged it back in the charger and it went all the way to sense again. It says low battery and to connect to charger even though it is, so I'm thinking new battery?
First all leave it to dry some more, another day or so,then try it,i would also get another battery .
by the sound of it the device had not dried properly before you tried to power it on.
good luck.
I just went to ATT to try another battery, but it wouldnt turn on now. Maybe the battery contacts on the phone need to be replaced, is there a place to get parts or to test what needs to be replaced. I have a multimeter and soldering iron.
When you dried it did you have the pc board exposed or has the case still been sealed?
good day.
still sealed. it turned on, i refuse to believe there is still water in there even if that is the fact.

Get a bag of rice, fill a large bowl halfway and put the disassembled device ontop then fill the rest of the bowl of the rice and leave for a coule days or so. It fixed my soaked Palm Pilot over 10 years ago.

Take out the battery, sim card etc, leave in a dry warm room for 2-3 days, do not be tempted to turn it on before this time.
Good luck, you may be lucky and it dries out fine, but if water has been in there whilst the device was on for some time, then it may be not good news.

I Refuse To Believe A Fact.. (there might be a tee shirt here )
But anyway I'm quoting someone that would know. Our devices are like ships in a bottle. Just 1 spec of moisture across 2 legs of an integrated circuit under power will lead to certain failure.
good day.
Update: Last night I gave it another go and the phone turned on again. Earlier in the day I tried bringing it to ATT but a new battery didnt help. When it turned on for me, it would switch from battery mode to charging mode when I plugged in the charger but would still say battery low please plug in charger. Also the charging light doesn't come up when I plug it in, though the led mightve been shorted. Should I be trying to Task 29 and reflash or is this definitely a hardware problem?
Update: Today, I task29 and reflashed the rom with no problem. I even made a phone call and received a call. The speaker may be dead because it didnt ring, but it did vibrate. The main problem seems to be the power management. The phone says the battery is low and turns off after a few minutes. IT does recognize the charger in the taskbar but still has the low battery message pop up. Is there a piece of hardware that is involved in the power management that can be replaced? I was looking at this: http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-pro2-flex-cable-extusb-connector-vibrate-module-p-8259.html
Hello guys,
I got my Sony Xperia Z3 a few weeks ago and today I cleaned it quickly with water, since it's supposed to be waterproof.
A few minutes later my phone turned off and now it won't start up anymore.
When I press the power button, it shows the sony logo, the red led comes on, it vibrates 3 times and it turns off again.
When I plug the charger in, it goes to the sony logo, the red led comes on, it vibrates 3 times, turns off, and repeats the process.
Would anyone be able to help me fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Try charging it for 30 then try powering up
Did you make sure to close the USB/SD card ports?
I've been charging it for quite a while and it's still not working.
I've tried button combinations, not working either.
I've also tried the rubberband method but it just keeps connecting and disconnecting to my computer.
Yeah all covers on the phone were closed.
After leaving my phone in a bowl of rice last night, I managed to flash my phone with flashboot.
I hope it'll be working normally again now.
Im guessing your unit wasn't water proof, either becsuse flaps weren't tightly enough closed or your unit does'nt have enough glue between frame and glass in front or back.

This is a common practice for phones that have water inside it. It was commonly done for iPhones that had been submerged in water, pools or toilets.
The rice draws the water molecules out from the phone and into the grains, resulting in a 'dry' phone.

Hello im repairing an samsung galaxy s6, which was dropped in water by a firend(for cca 2 seconds). I told him to turn it off, and i cleaned it with alcohol when i got it in my hands. Now i do not know what to do, . When i plug it in my charger and try to turn it on, i get a blue light but just a black screen nothing happens. When i reset the phone( soft reset) there is a red light while charging but nothing happens on the screen. When i connect it too a pc it recognises a device but it cant load the drivers of the device. What could be wrong with it ? Could it be the battery, i cant get it to turn on

It does not matter if you turn it off straight away, the battery IS STILL CONNECTED inside the phone so any water inside will continue to damage the components. It is impossible to say what the damage is at this stage without taking the phone apart and testing each component.
Leave the phone somewhere warm to dry out completely, if after a few days it still does not turn on then the phone is broken.

ok so last night i put my S7 (running latest RR rom) on charge.. woke up. walked over to pick up my fone.. found it, as one would expect.. green led on (showing its charged) with the screen off.. BUT.... for some or other reason.. this os the only state this #&$+#ing phone wants to be in now..
tried force restart.. (vol- and power)
tried 3 button method...
tried 4 button method...
tried recovery mode... (vol+ and power)
tried connecting to pc.... nothing....
NO JOY..
STILL STUCK WITH THAT CHEERFULL green light and a black screen...
suspecting a hardware failure
contemplating getting my hammer and using it as a very expensive one time only stress reliever...
maybe some1 got any other ideas before i go bob the builder on this #-$&$ing phone..
ok.. so... i fixed it..!! used a pocket knife.. thumb prick.. and a lighter...
but....
id suggest a heat gun or a hairdryer...(lighter)
prying tool... playing cards.. or guitar pick (pocket knife)
and a small Phillips (star) skrewdriver.. (modified thumb prick)
ok.. so.. heat up the back all along the sides..( not to much ) just till you can pry it open... and for the love of gawd..!!! BE GENTLE..!!!
AFTER you removed the back cover..
remove the top 3 skrews and clip out the plastic panel... (Gently..!!!)
then remove the skrews (4) holding the panel that looks like it covers the battery... and remove cover..
now...
follow the small cable that ends on the electronic board.. clip it off.. ( its at this point you can take out the battery if you wanted to)
clip that cable back in place.. and reverse do what ya just did...
(after checking if your phone switches on off course)
after you place the back cover ... just heat it again and apply some pressure just to stick that bastard back there... ? yea.. your very expensive phone's back cover is stuck on with adhesive... fkn glue.. anyway.. ya done.. shouldnt take ya 5min... (more if you have to modify a fkn thumb tic cause theres not a skrewdriver at work that size..lol)
hope this helps some1 somewhere...
I realise this is an old thread, but I wanted to share that I also had the black screen, green light of death issue.
Before anyone else with this problem rips their phone apart, you MAY NOT need to. I was able to exit this black screen of death and enter into recovery.
After following every sensible suggestion on the internet aside from phone surgery to no avail, I thought my only resort was to drain my phones battery. I hooked up an OTG cable to the S7, plugged in a cable for my Oneplus and it was charging away. I them decided this would be a good time to also try one of the key combinations, The first one I tried was to enter download mode. and VOILA, green light was stuck on still but I now had download mode on the screen. I then tried for recovery and was able to enter.
I hope this helps someone as well!

Happened today with my Note 8 SM-950F as well , since my backcover was already open for some other repair, I was able to disconnect battery and restore it back to working condition. However there should be a known button combination to recover from such BSOD with Green Solid LED , didnt try any of the known combos so far.
Hey guys,
a few days ago I accidentally dropped an HTC One E8 in water and obviously it doesn't work anymore. Before buying a new one I wanted to ask, if some of our "HTC experts" may have suggestions on what else I could try before giving up.
The situation: I dropped it in water, didn't turn it off (dumb, I know) and it worked for around 10 minutes until it powered off. I left it in rice for a day and it didn't turn on or charge. At this point I nearly gave up.
I left it for in rice (about 48 hours) and - the orange led was flashing while charging. Even the screen turned on and it showed a charging symbol first and after a few seconds it showed a red circle and a white exclamation mark. After some time I could power it on and the touchscreen worked and I could use it, but it still was around 1%/0%. The screen flickered, but it was usable. I wanted to plug it in my computer then to rescue some data, but 5 seconds after I took it off power (to switch from the wall charger to my PC) it died.
Now I tried it to power it on for like 2 days, but with no charger connected nothing happens and when I connect the charger, the orange led is on constantly. I tried power/volume- and power/volume+, but nothing happens. Not even the charging indicator comes up, the screen is completely dead.
Are there any steps to try before giving up? By the way I don't want to disassemble it
Thanks in advance
