Eu Touch Pro vs. "Fuze" USA Touch Pro - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hey loyal HTC fan here. Been using 8125 (Wizard) for 2+ years now. Me and the ol' faithful have been through it all..thick and thin. Unfortunately, the phones life is prettty much over and now I'm upgrading. (I've already decided to get a Touch Pro).
Right now, I'm living near LOTS of tall buildings and barely get 30% signal within my apartment and whenever someone calls they complain I keep breaking up unless I'm literally next to certain windows. While I'm struggling in my own house with my phone my family who has 3G phones have no issues. My poor soul has yet to truly experience 3G. I was about to buy a Euro Touch Pro when I had the doubt of whether or not I would get 3G with it when Fuze starts (yeah the long debates about the 3g, I know I'm sorry for bringing it up).
Do you guys feel I should buy a Eu Touch Pro now or just wait 2 weeks and see what happens with Fuze and go for an American one. Either way, I'm getting one...I just dont know what I should do because I NEED to be able to talk at home comfortably without missing calls etc

I say just wait off a lil bit and see what how things go down with the Fuze. You'll get a better price and no waiting for it to get shipped, and although with your current location 3G seems useless, but it might come in handy later on.

[Q] Fuze really worth it!?

Hi, I see a few people complaining about how the TouchPRO is better than the ATT Fuze, because of X and Y reason. I saw a few reviews on you tube, and read a few topics in here.
I have a Few Qs:
-The screen of the FUZE/touch pro, is it hard (like the iphone) or is it soft (like the TILT screen) ??
-Read or see somewere that ATT take out the YouTube "program" (or what ever that is called), is that true!?? so the Fuze users cant use the "cool" youtube app the TouchPro has?
-I have a Tilt, should I buy the Fuze!?
-anything else i need to know before buying it!??
thanks 4 your help
1. Fuze is worth it. TP isn't. Fuze is $200 cheaper. Big difference. Unless you don't care
2. The screen is harder than the tilt, but softer than the iPhone
3. Youtube program is in the /Windows folder, Aee tee n tee just decided to take it out from the Internet tab on TF3D and from the Start menu
4. Yeah. I had a tilt, I still have a tilt, but I bought the fuze. So much better. Loving it since Nov 12.
5. Finger print magnet. Don't drop it. Get a case and invisibleSHIELD for it.
6. Also. Some of these has been asked before. Please search
There are benefits to both, if you really want the device go for it and be happy. Either one is a good phone.
I wanted to get the Fuze because I want 3g support. I have no regrets about it or their changes to the device really.
The Tilt has some good Roms for it and I know a few people who have held back upgrading because they did not feel the price was worth it for just looks when they could get their Tilts to work similarly. Upgraded hardware not mentioned by them.
Kraize;
Do you know where the list or shortcuts are pulled from for the "All Programs" button on the programs tab? I want to add YouTube to that vs my start menu but cant seem to locate that full list. At least not yet...
The Fuze is the better deal.. unless of course you have tmobile in an area that doesn't have 3G and are willing to shell out an extra $250 for a front camera.. then get the TP.
Because I've made my Fuze nothing short of the HTC Touch Pro, except for the camera.. and of course minor differences in housing (the back is very glossy)... which i change the housing to my phones every 4 months.. so it doesn't matter
thanks guys, the thing is that I have to b uy it to ATT at the full price, cause I dont even have 1 year on my 2 year comitment I made last december
I forgot to say that, so for me both the TOUCH PRO and FUZE cost basically the same.
I got the fuze today. THe phone it self is good but ATT sucks >_< im gona return it in a few weeks so i can actually benfit payn for the first month...

Go with the Fuze if you're in an area with AT&T 3G service. The Touch Pro doesn't support AT&T's 3G bands. It's that simple.
If you're comfortable enough with ROM flashing, you can make your Fuze exactly into a Touch Pro (with a PTT button on the side and no front camera) or you can get a cleaner, smooth-running AT&T ROM by installing the NATF Fuze ROM here on the ROM dev forum. This is highly recommended because AT&T limits the speed on the Fuze to UMTS, but their network and the Fuze are HSDPA-capable. It's still pretty snappy even with the stock ROM.
Read my info here to help with your decision too:

same here, except that I'm not broke. Just sold my tilt for $500
wow!! 500 for the TILT!!!
wow, how can I sell mine on that price!?, hehe
I want to sell my tilt so I can buy the Fuze, I would love to buy the Fuze, but i dont think is going to be possible for a long time, I still have 1 year more of contract so I cant buy it at the 2 year comitment price, and the no contract price its too high for me right now...

Talk to the store managers. I was 11 months into my 2 year on att. They let me have it for 299 and just added 13 months to my contract to make it 2 years again. They can do it without any hassle if they want to. Sold my tilt for 225 so it only cost me 75 bucks to upgrade (that and another 24 months stuck on att again)

Front Camera
Hi everyone.
This forum is amazing.
I read XDA almost everyday .
The only complain I have for the FUZE is why they removed the Front Camera.
That is the only part I can complain about the FUZE after having a cook rom on it.
I bought a Tilt with AT&T contract extension in late October, and then returned it under AT&T's 30-day return policy in order to buy the Fuze. Overall, I'm very happy I made the switch. I much prefer the form factor of the Fuze (totally flat front, smaller more manageable size), and the VGA screen is awesome. Upgraded hardware specs are nice, but frankly haven't given any noticeable performance difference over the Tilt.
The things I don't like about the Fuze are as follows:
- Glossy finish (prefer hard-rubberized surface)
- Screen is "hard", requiring more effort than the softer Tilt screen
- Although I still can't believe that this flaw passed the HTC design team, the back of the HTC phone is not flat, but has this lame Diamond pattern with little ridges that prevent the phone from lying flat on a desk.
- Fewer hard buttons than Tilt, and no jog wheel (admittedly, I've gotten used to the Fuze layout and don't miss the lack of hard buttons).
- I think TouchFlo3D is lame, and finally removed it from my device yesterday. I prefer the HTC Home interface from the Tilt (which I'm now using on my Fuze).
The AT&T Fuze was, for me, very slow out-of-the-box. I flashed a cooked HTC Rom, and I've very pleased with the results. Although I thought the Tilt was an awesome phone, I don't miss it one bit. I like to keep cell phones for at least 3 years (preferably 4), so wanted something with the best hardware specs that should hold up well over time.

HTC Touch HD Owners in the United States Help Out Us Wannabees

To those of you who've been brave enough to import the Touch HD, please enlighten the rest of us who are on the fence. I think we all know that the major issue is the lack of 3G for us in the states. Does EDGE work well enough for day to day mobile browsing? Is the lack of faster data speed a big enough minus to advise others against importing the phone? Are there other pitfalls that we may not be aware of at this point? Thanks for any information you guys can offer to the rest of us who may be considering buying The Touch HD for use with TMobile, AT&T, etc.
better wait
I am one of the people hesitating too. However I know I hate the EDGE speeds compared to the 3G network. In the my office the 3G reception is marginal and with my current HTC Trinity I change the E and H nets all day long.
What I hate about the E:
1. The phone is much more slow. by much I mean MUCH. browsing the internet on E speeds is amazingly slow.
2. If you happen to have the phone in a cradle like I do, and happen to have amplified speakers of the cheap kind , the one without magnetic protection, like most people will add to their office PC, spending few bucks, you will note how much interference is created by the phone while on the E network. Amazingly loud noise. While on the H network - quiet.
3. A co-worker of mine bought the Diamond before the US 3G version showed up. 3 months later the US version came out. It is different hardware so he will NEVER be on 3G with his over $500 investment.
4. I have consulted a reseller of the HD touch and he told me the chipset of the current HD touch will not support the US 3G frequency. it isn't that there will be a firmware or software tweak.
As much as I am eager to put put my hands on a new HD, I am waiting. If spending $850 will buy me a downgrade to EDGE networks, as good as reception is for me (Edge is working in a very nice coverage for me with AT&T in CA) I rather be patient. Either thee will be a US version, or maybe another phone. HTC already came up with 4G phone and Wimax support one, so I am sure they are not going to neglect the US market for long.
I personally believe as soon as they will finish milking the European market with 850 Euro per unit, it will have to appear here supporting US nets.
yeah...
I have one... cost me $710 shipped to me in two days from clove.
Edge is slower. 3G is faster.. some places more than twice as fast.
Depends on what you want... i absolutely love the phone... still having fun tweaking the heck out of it... the screen is to die for.. everyone wants to know what kind of phone it is.. i use slingplayer to watch shows at 350K on edge no problem... thats my highest bandwdith consumption piece. Side by side... my wifes iphone opens cnn in about 4 seconds less than my phone does it... i can give up 4 seconds for the goodness that is the Touch HD... really I can.. like i said.. some people will care more than others... me, Id do it all over again

might be moving to a BB Storm

Hi all,
I'm out of contract at the moment so I thought I'd see what was available, and settled on the BB Storm.
Originally I got my TP as I wanted a decent email machine but wasn't enthralled by anything else out there. And while I love the TP (thousands of available apps and themes, endlessly customisable, and excellent email support)...it's inability to hang on to a signal has tried my patience (despite me trying several different radios). What good is a phone that can't be used in my house!!
So, I have a BB storm waiting for me at home right now. The first thing I plan to do is try the vodafone sim in my TP and see if anything improves (currently with t-mob), failing that I will try the storm for a while. if it doesn't flick my switch then it'll be going back...and I'll be looking for something else.
anyone else any experience with the Storm?
My friend on Verizon has one, I played around with it at lunch.... that clicky touch screen pisses me off no end. As much as I dislike the Iphone3G I'd take that over a Storm.
I've come to realize that I require a hardware QWERTY on my phones, long emails are a snap with a real keyboard. The Raphael or X1 are really the best for that form factor so far.
What was wrong with your signal on the TP? Did you try different band settings?
I've tried all sorts of settings, in my house the absolute maximum I get is two bars, and as son as you move around it drops out. I really do think the phone has everything else, but a phone that doesn't work as a phone isn't much use to me.
I get good signal on my Raphael, compared to an old Nokia flip phone I keep around for backup the signal bars are always 5 on both phones.
If you try your T-Mobile SIM in a different phone do you get better signal than on the TP? It could be T-Mobile just has bad coverage in your area.
BB Storm is a great phone, with one caveat... the click screen forced them to have an open ridge around the screen, and I know of two people who have already complained that it attracts any lint from their pockets, and they've had to clean out that ridge a few times with a piece of paper (or toothpick).
I wonder what will get behind that screen after a few months, and will the click screen still work..
The SIM isn't activated by default and Verizon doesn't use the SIM in the US. The SIM is for international travel and it's a vodafone/Verizon SIM to enable their Canada access plan. You can have them enable that SIM, but it doesn't unlock the phone. They've apparently had a lot of people unlocking and dumping Verizon, so they've taken a hard stance on their 60-day unlocking policy. Sucks for us that actually travel. I had my first Storm unlocked with no issues, but got a replacement and can't get it unlocked now. Canceled my account and the phone is going back.
I have tried the Verizon version, and I can't get over the clicky screen. It's just plain annoying. I have been a BlackBerry user for 3 years, have had 20 different devices, and I will not get a Storm nor will I recommend it to anyone.

officially confused as of what to buy...or not buy.

so, as my Kaiser gets long in the tooth.... I start the hunt for a new phone. I'm still happy w/ it, it's gotten over a year and a half of use from me (avg is 1 year max). as I peruse the forums for info, this is the first time, in which I'm not so sure what to get.
I'll tell you a little more info so you guys understand.
I live in Hawaii, and use Tmobile w/ the tzones hack.. (i was actually using it as long as I can remember, w/ my unlocked w800) so my phone bill is just under $50 a month. If I switch to att, then my phone bill would do the jump up to about 80 a month.
att has 3g in hawaii, tmo does not, and will not for the near future either. tmo's market share is so high in hawaii, that I guess, they didn't feel the need to upgrade us early.
The reason I like having unlocked phones, is that I have the choice, if I wanted to jump networks (although, I never would to be honest)
I have figured out that the xperia x1i, the touch pro, and the hd don't work on the 3g att network, but the fuze, and x1a do.
do I buy an unlocked fuze? and reflash? an x1a? (most of the available x1's are i, best buy has a few a's for $799)
do i buy an HD, and never use the 3g anyway, since I'm on tmo.
or do I wait.... until the new snapdragon and newer t-mo 3g capable phones come out, and hope that I like them.
a few more things about my prefrences..
I don't like typing on a touch screen, even the iphone screen.
I DO like playing 4pinball (but it sucks juice, and eventually i will get bored w/ it.)
I do lots of texting, and websurfing, listen to podcasts (sports shows), not a lot of video watching (only recently added youtube to the kaiser)
I have odyssey nav on the tilt w/ map for Hawaii(also, livesearch, and google latitude)
obviously, I've read through all the pro's and con's in each individual thread about the respective phones, I would rather have a touch pro and extra coin, but which one of those do I get if I do get it? and back around in a circle again..
one last tidbit, I love the sliding mechanism of the tilt, as oppossed to the cheap looking one of the g-1, and the xperia's sliding seemed only ok.
go and bring forth comments everyone.. thanks in advance.
Fuze or touch hd.... Personally i love 3g but with an hd i think i could live without it
If you do get the fuze make sure you pick up the screen responsiveness hack.... it help ALOT
does htc make a fuze in htc form? i.e. us frequencies. or do i hve to buy an unlocked fuze. it was so much easier w/ the kaiser...
Wait for the 09 HTC devices
They seem to be great!!

I was thinking about it, but at the same time, the trend of HTC seems to 'localize" their phones to europe/asia, or america... The Kaiser seemed to be the last "jack of all trades", which is probably one reason why the thing is so damn heavy.
Honestly, I would buy an xperia x1-a but I've read so many problems w/ cracking cel phones. My kaiser has taken a beating, and it's done well, no wimpy silicone skin, or hard case for me, I am confident that I can drop it 6 feet to the ground, and it will be fine. I'm not so sure about the xperia.
If I could find a touch pro for american frequencies that's NOT a Fuze/att brand, I would be more inclined., but it's either Fuze or TP international branding.
Just because I don't plan to use att, doesn't mean I don't want the choice to switch and take advantage of their 3g network. I mean, for me, that's the whole point in having an unlocked phone... not being 'stuck' to one provider.
even, talking to cel phone experts, no one is ever sure which phone to buy, or what they are even selling.
one last thing about the xperia, their panel selection sucks... seriously, 6 aftermarket panels???? all worthless stuff?
The only benefit of getting the xperia 1a for me, is that it's fully warrantied through best buy, although i can get X1i's for way cheaper, and that take better photo's etc. (but no us 3g, IF I ever switched to ATT..lol)
If I had a better idea of both what is coming down the pipeline from htc, and when hawaii will get t-mo 3g, it would greatly help my decision.
bought an Xperia x1-a.. I figured, that I can always buy the next gen stuff later. I'm actually surprisingly happy w/ it.

Huge Dilemma: Have to choose new carrier>

My current situation is as follows:
I was on Alltel, then Verizon bought it. The location in which the account originated from (Orangeburg, SC area) is being divested and sold to some no-name company. In the process, even though we are on "Verizon" service, I have 1-2 bars.. constantly.
Now, the move is happening, our account is ending because we are refusing service, as we have no service.
The other two people on the account have already moved to AT&T, because that was their only choice as they live out in nowhere. Whereas, I'm in a semi-populated city, Charleston SC.
Heres my problem..
I want, or at least I think I do, the HTC Incredible.. It could be two weeks before its out.. two months, who the hell knows..
I wouldn't mind an iPhone, but the lack of user customization kills me.. the whole "loyalty" to apple blows and it probably wont be long till the next ver of iPhone is released (they found deeper in the iPad OS "iPhone 3.2" and "3.3"..).
I could even go with Sprint for the Evo 4g.. but, no I'm good..
Will Verizon allow me to sign a contract and honor a phone deal for a phone that isn't even out yet, for something they can't even price me for?
If I have no choice but to get an iPhone, do I just grab a simple 3G (I could care less about picture messaging) since a new one is around the corner.. or is the 3GS really that much better?
Help.. I'm at a wall.
I'm currently rockin an Touch Pro, but I need something with some power to it.
