Does anyone know if the hardware design of the Touch Diamond is that different from the Touch Pro so as to preclude USA 3G? The new Touch Diamond Americas offers the full quad band plus USA 3G and (I think) the European TD ROM has been modified to make US 3G work on it. How come our Touch Pro is still incapable of US 3G? ....is it a hardware limitation after all?

Hello,
Does any one know whether the upcoming North American 3G Touch Pro CDMA version will have the same aGPS as Touch Diamond or a newer and hopefully faster and more efficient eGPS???
Thanks a lot.
I knew when I got my Touch Pro which is the T7272 model that it would in all liklihood not work with T Mobile for 3G speeds. But is there a ROM Hack that allows it to?
Assuming nothing changes, if I get an AT and T account will I get 3G speeds on At and t?

No, no and no. No smartphone besides the T-Mobile G1 is known to support T-Mobile US's 3G band. The T7272 won't support AT&T's 3G bands. You'll want the AT&T Fuze for that. Best Buy sells the Touch Dual, Touch Diamond and soon the Sony Ericsson Xperia, which will all support both of AT&T's 3G bands. They are also unsubsidized and very expensive. The European Xperia supports AT&T's 1900 MHz 3G band but not their 850 Mz 3G band.
Hello,
I've been seeing in the flee market lots of HTC touch pro (not fuze) that claim to work with North American 3G networks. Are they not telling the truth? I thought that HTC touch pro does not do 3G networks in North America? Or is there another version of the phone that works? I'm talking about HTC touch pro and not the fuze or any other version of the phone.
Thank you.
Allegedly, there are Touch Pros made for the American market.
A websearch will reveal the specs - then all you have to do is lite up the phone and compare to see if it will work in US.
since there is no way of trying the phone since I want to buy it online, is there another way of telling if the phone works on north American 3G network or do I have to take the words of the seller?
Thank you

Ask them for the phone's Model ID. RAPH100, RAPH110, etc.
Once you have the Model ID, you can verify if it supports US 3G.

oh ok thank you
However which model supports US or Canadian 3G? I looked at the Raph_Specs in the wiki and I only found specs for Raphael 800 and Raphael 100; not 100/110. Plus I thought that the HTC Touch Pro has only two versions: the Raphael 100, which is GSM, and the Raphael 800, which is CDMA
Thank you again

The Fuze is RAPH110. Once you find out the Model ID, post it here and I'm sure someone can tell you for sure.
RAPH 110 is the fuze i believe
ok so in conclusion, there is no US or Canadian 3G unless its a fuze... Those that claim to have a touch pro that works on North American Network are scammers. and I'm only talking about the HTC touch pro that has only the HTC logo and no carrier logo. Correct???

A US 3G-compatible Touch Pro may exist. Once you know the Model ID, post it here, and someone should be able to confirm if it will work.
Touch pro
People there is no us 3g version of the Unbranded Touch pro Yet point Blank And FYI The Fuse And Unbranded Touch pro Are the Same phone Just Fuse has no Front Camera And Soft Touch Back other then that The Fuse is the Touch pro Same Speeds And Specs If you Flash the Oem Touch pro unbranded Rom to the Fuse And unlock the Sub Sid Bam there you Go Plus Fuse is Better We have Us 3g and World Wide Hsdpa Hell if i want a Front Camera I will pull out My TyTN II ....Lol
There is the the Diamond Touch (not the Pro) that is compatible with North American 3G. I saw it on www.mobileplanet.com I called HTC direct and confirmed that there is not a North American version of the Touch Pro Other than the Fuze. The will tell you that the Euro Touch Pro has the GSM support but not the 3G.

How about the HTC Touch 3g T3232? I just bought one and i'm having problems accessing the internet through AT&T...
I keep reading on this forum and websites the last 5 days and I'm getting tired from this. I need someone fulfill me with an answer that will let me decide between the original HTC touch pro and the ATT FUZE.
I know some differences between them like
1. FUZE has not front camera
2. different keyboard layout (I like the orignal more the FUZE)
3. fuze has PTT button extra
4. the cover back on the fuze is shiny like the diamond; the original pro is dark black (which I like more than the shiny one)
5. the big difference between the prices (which is I do not care about)
HOWEVER, my question is if I bought the original unlocked HTC Pro the Europe version or north American (don't know what the difference), will it work in US with AT&T network as good as the Fuze? (I mean with the data connection e.g. 3G, GMS, UTMS, Tri and quad band, etc)
I need someone to help me so I can decide, please...
Thanks in advance..
Bassil
i would assume it'll work in all locations... i bought my tytn2 in kuwait and it works on at&t 3g in the states and tmobile 3g in the states, also worked on 3g in bahrain, qatar, afghanistan and kuwait
I've been thinking of the same thing... The biggest benefit is the big price difference between the Fuze and the Touch Pro for me....
But, I'll be without bloatware from the get-go... And teh rubberized back is a nice feature.
Plus, I think the Touch Pro is packaged with earphones from the start...
jeez... guys it boils down to one thing; the original touch pro DOES NOT work on at&t 3G. everything else is skin deep. if you want 3g on at&t get the fuze

It does, but it does not have the proper frequency for 3G on At&T network. It will work on at&t edge network. At&t uses the 1900 (850 band in select places)(down)/2100(up) band is how i understand it. So to get 3G speeds you need to be able to pick up both. The rest of the world uses 900(down)/2100(up).
keyboard
does anyone know if the fuze's keyboard can changed to original pro's?
because I don't like the way that ATT organize the buttons in fuze's keyboard. I like the pro's coz its like the laptop's keyboard and of course easier to use and faster.

Thats subjective, I did not like it until I got it in hand and its much better having the symbols around the keys vs the numbers which I dont use often while typing. Especially since I use my thumbs vs my full hand.
There are different roms that have different files for the keyboard, and I believe you can remap some of it...how much I do not know.
The Truth
Here's The Facts The Htc Touch pro unbranded Has no us 3g The Htc Fuse Has us 3g The fuse has no front Camera The Uk Version has a Front Camera If you Dont want the Att Bloatware Crap you Can Flash the HTC unlocked Rom to your Fuse Now you have a Htc UK Version With us 3gb And your keyboard layout will be the Same as The Uk Version As Well Now So you can Turn your Fuse into the Uk Touch pro plus get us 3g And Get the keyboard layout And Save 300 Bucks more For the Same phone....you make the Smart Choice

Not really, 3G doesnt depend on two seperated frequency bands for bidirectional data/voice.
Some details of the bands used in the UK HERE, the 2100 band has always been 3G only, 900 for GSM (O2 and Vodafone), 1800 for GSM aswell (Tmobile and Orange).
Generally you only need two specific carriers inside the frequency band allocated to 3G so your mobile would transmit on (for example) 2101.1 MHz and the Base station would transmit on 2121.1 MHz. Its quite a poor use of frequencies to have such a huge gap between the two since you are lowering the bandwidth available on the lower frequency. I believe the gap between the two carrier signals (in terms of frequency) is the guard band??? Ive no idea what sort of bandwidth 3G would actually use overall but i would assume MHz rather than Khz (as with 2G) since we can cram 7.2Mbit down the line now using HSPA.

ummmmmmm sir I don't think I understand you. BUT, if you mean the HTC pro UK version uses 3G same as the AT&T frequency uses, you are wrong. I checked htc.com/UK and I didn't find one. Also, I checked the network coverage that UK use is 2100 for the 3G....
>>> here you go http://www.gsmarena.com/network-bands.php3?sCountry=UNITED+KINGDOM
I dont use data, so i could care less about the 3g. I would be happy to trade my fuze for a touch pro if anybody cares too, although the actual trade would be the hard part.
Hey guys, I just have a quick question. Does the G1 and Touch Pro share the exact same hardware when it comes to radios? If so, I would assume that the chipset in the Touch Pro would be capable with the Tmobile 3G bands but it just needs the proper drivers for it to work. I had the G1 but sold it because Tmobile wouldn't allow me to use my $6 data plan on the G1, or any other plan than the G1 data plan. I now have an HTC Fuze and am looking for any way to get 3G Tmobile data access. It doesn't seem like many phones out there has the Tmobile 3G bands. And also, it seems like the Rhodium is coming to Tmobile with the 3G bands and was wondering if anyone had access to the Rhodium radio firmware could flash the Touch Pro and see if it enabled the 3G bands for Tmobile.
AFAIK, flashing an at&t FUZE ROM (and radio) to a Touch PRO doesn't bring up at&t 3G speed at all.
