That phone is crap in the us. Sorry im sure someone will argue, but I have been Beta testing it for about month now and i hate it.

if u hate it! send it to me! i'll return it when it' time for u to return it to SE! haha

Its property of not me. Like I said im beta testing as well as about 35 other employees of AT&T. I cant say im to pleased with it. My tilt interacts with 3G better than the X1. As from what I have seen from the other tech's they are saying the same thing. One of the major problems with the device is when it looses the network it will not automatically pick it back up, always turning off and on again.
The battery life sucks in 3G (when it atucally works). If i was allowed to send it to you i WOULD. But im sure you would send it back in frustration.
Now don't get me wrong its one of the coolest phones I have used in a while. But I would rather have a phone first, then all the cool things that come with it.

i guess it depends on ATT network and what area u in. there' a few people saying the samething about Imate 9502 losing signals and not picking up again.
but my Imate 9502 rarely lose signals and when it does lose signals, it automatically pick it up again.

I start to hate Raphael. There is everything inside, but nothing, that can I normally use without problems. I am now on a bussiness trip,I was testing GPS while driving...****!!! Absolutely useless, 70% of time without satellites,25% with unacurrate positio(more than 200m away of the road),only 5% of the time that was working normally(quiet). Now I am on the hotel and viola! I can connect to wifi, but after some seconds rhe network is unavailable and it is still connecting/disconnecting all the time round and round. This text I am writing from my laptop, where Wifi is working correctly(50% of available signal strength and the router is located 10m away from me behind the door). What the hell is the HTC nowadays? Raphael should be NOT a lowend, but as it seems,it is!!! This company starts to sucks.
Has anyone same problems with wifi as me? I have wifi set to maximum performance, but still sucks.
You really seem pissed at HTC mate... I dint have any issues with mine so far though... Note that the Wifi receiver on your laptop is always better than on your phone. If its 50% on the laptop then it can't be within like 10 metres or there must be loads of obstacles...

Your wifi receiver will NEVER be as good as the equivalent from a laptop/pc. Remember if you wanted maximum wifi performance just like your laptop then your battery life will be VERY poor.
Remember dude this device is what?...a MONTH old? There are ALWAYS problems with HTC devices when they are stock, give the thing time to be developed for properly here.

So what if it's about a MONTH old?! It should work flawlessly when you take it from the box! That's why you've paid a lot of money.. not to wait for PARTIAL 3rd-party solutions that can avoid your warranty!
I see a lot of issues, a lot of unhappy people, etc etc.. will actually htc take an action to resolve all those bugs (I think the majority are software related) or they will close their eyes like usual (see previous device and htc attitude)?
if htc will do exactly nothing about those problemes, I think the only solution is to announce the mass of their stupid ignorance. i'm really upset and had enough of it.
I've made a topic with some of most common problems of htc touch pro. If noting gonna change i will forward that topic (including some other from here) to all the big mobiles news site (gsmarea, mobile-review, coolsmartphone, engadget, etc) to spread the real news about their latest overpriced devices. And should I mention about the previous devices? And about their care for their costumers? Nah.. THIS MUST BE STOPPED! It's time to correct their problems or drop it!
REALLY PISSED OF WHAT HTC HAS BECAME.
If you want great out-of-the-box phone, dont buy HTC.
Sorry, but thats just the way things are. My TyTN was almost unusable out of the box...
As far as I know, that no PPC from HTC was usable right out-of-the-box. Beginning with Himalaya, which WM2003 was unable to wake me up in that time, that alarm was set(yes,4 years of developing makes the device almost perfect),via Hurricane sold as SDA II(unusable without skills in WM,now it is pretty good),to this piece of terrible device. I bought Raphael due to presence of technologies,I want to use. Without these technologies,I can keep my lovely Himalaya, that is working perfectly. Only some devices I know, was problemless and they have all working, that I was expected:Typhoon and Oxygene. So my favorite HTC's are all the time Himalaya and Typhoon/Feeler/Sonata and all other PPC's branded by HTC origin sucks. HTC is no more the old good HTC,that we know without its own mark(beginning with Hermes as TyTN...OMG that was a big s..t).

Should my Mom flash her Fuze?

OK, so I've been building up the Fuze as a replacement for my moms blackjack which she's had for years and hates. I have a tilt, and love the added functionality and features that flashing it has brought (M2D to name a huge one). I would be doing the flashing of my Mom's phone, and she lives about 4 hours away, so just far enough that I don't get to see her that often. (hence not able to fix things easily for her if they don't work right)
As soon as she can get her hands on a fuze, she's getting it. Would flashing it to a ROM from here give any benefit to HER (ie she is not too technical and would she see any difference?) or should I just leave "well-enough" alone and tell her to enjoy her new phone?
Thanks guys

i mean if she doesn't care than it really doesn't matter. This way if God forbid something happens to the phone she can just take back to warranty for replacement without first having it reverted back to stock.
However, imo a clean light cooked rom will help her have a more speedy device
There's not a clean light ROM developed for the "Fuze" yet? Atleast, I didn't think there was.
I'd never let my mum get a WM phone. Mum phones have got to come from Sainsburys or Woolworths and can't cost any more than £19.99
and i'm not so sure if your mom appreciates you asking if she should flash her fuze in public like this...
can't help with the phone issue either..sorry....
OMG...
the mere thought of that title makes my stomach twist...
Did you actually read the title before you put it up?
i've been just keeping my mouth shut

hahaha.... funny....
my 2 cents, do not flash anything because if you happen to buy a lemon, you won't have warenty to fix or exchange and let ur mom try using it first on the stock speed and apps..... because she wont be able to apprecite the flash if she's never tried the origional.

Fuze Times Out on Data Connection

Half the time when I try to go to a website the Fuze just times out. Loads forever and times out.
When it doesn't time out, it's slow as molasses.
I can throw my SIM in either of my other two 3G phones, sitting in the exact same spot, and everything flows just fine.
Anyone else having this issue?
I'm about ready to take this back, after months of waiting for its release, because the data connection is so unreliable.
have you tried tweaking it and maybe flash to another rom?
or maybe you just have a lemon. Get it exchanged and see if problem persists.

Have already returned it for a different one. Exact same issue. Actually I've posted a lot of details about this, if you look at my other posts.
Many others are having this same issue. Many others in the threads on here, like the HSDPA / 3G Fuze threads. Here's a guy on ATT forums with the exact same symptoms as me: http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=108522
I do not want to flash to a different ROM because I saw someone in another thread post that they tried flashing back to the stock ATT ROM and it didn't work. Haven't seen anyone post saying that it DOES work for this specific phone to the ATT ROM.
If it was just "kinda slow" I would mess with tweaks and other ROMs, but the fact that it's literally unusable makes me want to just give up and possibly re-buy the phone if and when a REAL fix for it comes along.
The frustrating thing is it seems like about half people are getting awesome speeds on this phone, and the other half are getting abysmal, unusable speeds. I've seen a lot of posts on here of people saying they're just returning the Fuze as it's useless. I'm so disappointed, I really wanted this phone bad.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm actually on my second Fuze right now (returned the first one for some stupid reason). Both phones had around the same speed. It's not stellar, but at least it's not doing terribly worse than my friend's iphone 3g, which I use as a comparison cuz we all know they're the connection hoggers.
Have you tried calling AT&T tech support? They've been extremely helpful with some of my questions.
Lastly, why not just flash it? May people are having a bit of a problem getting stock ROM to work after flashing it back, but if you're going to exchange it, who said the stock ROM has to work flawlessly? Besides, someone will eventually find a way to fully re-flash stock ROM soon, not that I'd ever understand why anyone would want to do that aside for warranty purposes.
I would bring your phone to AT&T store, talk to the manager (chances are someone working there also has a Fuze). Tell them your problem and ask them to do a comparison. Cuz right now I can only think of two possibilities:
1) you got 2 lemons in a row
2) Stock ROM really sucks
Good luck
Thanks man. I might just try a flash and see. I have not called tech support yet even though I've been thinking about doing that for days, because it's such a hair pulling experience, i just hate going through the phone systems and then getting people who don't have a clue what your'e talking about.
I did email the manager of the store, mainly about a different issue I had with the process and the associate (who lied to my face repeatedly, but i wont go into details) and mentioned the problems i'm having with my phone and the fact that the replacement is the same way.
I also live in OC (southern cal) and have heard others are having issues w 3G in general here. However the fact remains that my other two 3G phones work perfectly for me.

[Q] Handset swap over

Hi everybody,
I've got a question about sending my phone back to orange. The thing is I have been complaining that my signal has been worse than crap for a month or so, so they are going to send me a replacement handset. The thing is, I am S-Off and rooted. Now I don't think I need it to be S-On again, I'm thinking the people at Orange would'nt be THAT savvy to look, or care about that. However, I am running cyanogen mod, so I want to take that off and put an orange stock one back on. Am I right in thinking that it would be as easy as just flashing one from this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506
Any advice would be appreciated, I just don't want to completely bugger it.
Cheers

Yes it looks like the Orange Uk RUU is there, and will restore you to stock and S-On if you used AlpharevX. If you used XTC Clip that's irreversible. But like you said I doubt they'd notice.
However it might be worth me mentioning, as an Orange sufferer myself, I also have terrible 3G signal despite my housing estate being ground zero for the biggest cell tower you've ever seen. Is it just 3G you are struggling with?
My phone I bought SIM-free and unlocked too. Tried various radios, same results.
It's more to do with Orange climbing into bed with T-Mobile and then proceeding to thoroughly bork their 3G network trying to merge them. I've had the 3G bandwidth of a slightly damp piece of string since February. It comes and goes though. They'll manage a full hour or two of 'H' before it bombs me back to 'G'. I had the old Desire back then, and service went from awesome to pony over the course of January/February so I know it wasn't my phone. Come the end of my contract (as I've been unsuccessful arguing my way out of it) I'm back off to Vodafone.
Just saying you may find you get another handset when there is nothing wrong with your current one. Have you tried popping in a friend's SIM card from another network?
Hiya mate,
Thanks for replying. You answered my question a couple of weeks ago as I remember, about my phone being stuck on gsm? Well I just kept ringing them and told them my signal was the pits and not getting any better, so they are sending me a replacement. I was pretty surprised that they would do this actually. I asked them what would happen if that didn't work, and they said just give them a call back. My sister had really poor reception as well, and she hounded them that much that they cancelled her contract, hell hath no fury and all that ha ha. So I might be going down the same route, if this handset doesn't work. To be fair, I cant see it making any difference.

Excellent mate, that worked like a charm. Back to stock ROM i'll see what happens with this new handset, If that doesn't work, gonna see about trying to get out of contact. On the plus Side, they only want the actuall phone back. So I score a spare battery and memory card ha ha. Thanks again, much appreciated.

[Q] If your cell phone did this every day what you you do? Drop data connetion

My droid razr drops it's data connetion, just about every day. some times it fall's back on 3G, but most of the time not. Now vid two was not the best at showing what happens most of the time, but vid one is. I have better videos, but they have to much info about me to upload with out cuting them up.
So if video one happened to you every day, with 3-5 bars or -69 to -86dbm. What would you do?
I would like to know so I can fix it.
thanks
P.S I have tryed:
New sim, reboots( lots and lots of that), Uninstalling most 3rd party apps, Leting it stay off over night. ( the tech guy said to do that.) and not using the phone for 24h.

Bootloader is locked and even it was not locked, I still would not because it does not seem to be software. There is a week spot on the lower right side of the phone that "gives in" way to easy vs my S2 and the build of this phone should be better than that.
P.S maybe Verizon is just the biggest pile of crap on earth?
yeah i would just make sure its rooted and install a good rom for it it might work.

Correct. Changing ROMs will do little or nothing to improve the situation and might even make it worse. It's either a poor antenna design or, more likely, poor signal in your location.

You said it, not me...
For the super-premium prices they charge, Verizon should be willing to help. T-Mobile US offers free home signal boosters to those who need them. Maybe Verizon has a program like that.
Sent from HTC G2
I don't think a signal boost will help if it drops data even in a 5 bar place and I can see the cell tower.
It just did it again and fell back on 3g. I was geting 4-5 bars, unsure if it's reading dbm right.
Edit: Free signal boosters and it does not cost you more $ per bill? If 100% free thats cool, AT&T does not do that for free, but never needed form them.
My data connection drops in the weirdest places!
underground shops for example, always have full bars..
out in the open.. no bars
I would be complaining to my service provider! but the few suggestions to root and rom your stock cell might work.. however rooting is not for everyone. so I would look for other solutions first. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed for your device and if you are still having issues, then maybe consider root.
bootloader is locked, so no roms. there is root, but i don't know how well it works yet.
I think the hardware has some kind of isuse. i think the battery reader is bad and is feeding the phone fake info. I will need more time to know for sure.
Try a different phone on the same provider and a different provider on the same phone.
Then either change provider, phone or both.
The phone is locked and even if you could unlock it, it uses bands no one else uses.
There are some good things about the EU like:
1) cell phones are all gsm and there for hot swapable.
2) 100mbs internet all over.
3) You make some fine cars.
Back on topic: I don't have a phone to swap sims with on same provider.
Thanks for the input and thanks for the worlds fastest car.
