Hi all,
After few day using the Touch Diamond, I went back to Kaiser (the 6th already). Now the Touch Pro is available in my country, I also want to get it.
But in term of the touched screen, I do think that the screen of TP is responsive badly as the one of Diamond. Could you pls share your experience?
Thanks!
Yes,the touchscreen sensitivity was very bad in comparison with Himalaya. Bad sensitivity, small size and big resolution made the device very difficult to use without stylus. But I have increased the sensitivity in registry and is much, much better then default. Now I am satisfied.
Use e.g. Advanced Config Tool 3.2 to increase sensitivity. Works like a charm
I changed the Registry in Diamond to increase the sensitivity of touch screen to 400 it was just a bit better. The middle of the screen was quite responsive but I had to press the other space (especially near the edges) hardly with the stylus.
So I think the sensitivity of the Touch Pro is the same as Diamond.
In Advanced Config go to HTC TouchFlo and change the Pressure threshold and Finger pressure values to Extremely high.

Hi all - thanks for such an informative forum! I'm looking to replace my beloved aging (and dying) Dell AximX50v, and the info at this site is very helpful.
I took this photo at my AT&T store, comparing the google homepage on the Axim's VGA screen, the iPhone, and the Tilt (the Touch Pro will have VGA resolution, but the screen size will be the same, I think).
The photo overemphasizes iPhone's brightness, just because it was directly below the camera lens and the other two devices were at an angle to the camera (the camera was close to the devices).
Touch Pro specs are awesome, but even the iPhone's screen is smaller than the x50v's...sigh. Why can't we have a great tool AND eye candy??!

cant be sure but are you sure the other two phones were not using dimmed screen, i know for a fact that th diamond and my old Orbit has a significantly better screen brightness then those.
Hey, Dazza - no, the screens weren't dimmed. As a matter of fact, the photo posted above was the 2nd picture I took because the Tilt did dim the screen just as I took my first shot - here's what it looked like dimmed!
While the iPhone's screen was brightest, there's no question that both the Axim and the HTC screens looked substantially brigher than shows up in this photo. I can see a substantial difference on my Axim if I look at the screen straight on and if I look at it at even a very slight angle. When I got close to the 3 devices for the picture, the angle of the lens to screen didn't do any favors to the Axim or the HTC.
My purpose in sharing the photo was to illustrate screen SIZES though - there's a big difference between the Axim, the nearly same size iPhone, and that of the HTC! 'Natch, all are loads better than my Razr V3xx screen, though!

The screen of the tilt still looks quite dim (although you said it looked brighter in real life.
Are you sure you also put the screen brightness on highest? By default, my TP adjusts its brightness according to the environment lighting.
I've uploaded some pics (the ones with my laptop (Asus G1S, full brightness) in the background are alternated between autoadjust/full brightness)

I hear you! I love my Tilt, and have been looking at the Touch Pro as a good upgrade just to have my VGA back.
Having used the x50v, and just recently retiring my x51v, I understand what you mean by screen size. It would be nice if HTC and the others would make us spoiled by true PDAs something with a real screen.
I work with a guy who uses an HP PDA that has a 4" screen. It is absolutely wonderful to work off of. The only offering from HTC that is close, is the 5" Advantage, and is overkill for most.
Well I still have my glorious LOOX 720 and I can tell you, its screen is great (and even compared to the other VGA devices of the time, if you remember the tests), BUT, I easily moved to Touch Pro anyway.
ah, that would actually make sence, sorry i was bit stupid there, viewing angles!
Obviously need to exercise that part of my brain some more.
Hi tp owners ..
I currently own an imate jam, which I'm about to replace.
So far I am quite content with the performance of the jam, the reponsiveness and so on.
I recently got my hands on an eten m800 with vga .. I'm going to return it since the performance usgin it just as a telephone sucks (getting up the contacts list and so on has too much delay - plus touch sensitive is NOT the way to go)
My question is, is there anyone here upgrading from a jam (or even not) that can say what the performance comparison is for regular phone stuff .. ?
I really font need the tf3d stuff.
Thanks

All I can say is that compared to my Touch Dual, even with TF3D enabled on the Touch Pro, the overall responsiveness in the Windows Mobile menues, etc, is much much better..
Hello,
Looking at the specs of these nice smart phones and apart form the screen being bigger I can't see much hardware difference, I currently have the touch pro 2 and i love it, but does any one have both of them, if you do how do they compare?
Hopefuly I've missed some large hareware improves of touch pro 2! Let me no.
Thanks
Hi, try the Rhodium section...there were a number of comparisons with the TP2 on top

One vote for TP2
The HTC Touch Pro 2 is a larger device and with a larger screen. So I prefer TP2.(I always like the phone with a large screen)
I think is´s more of a preference rather than one being better than the other.
Pro: Smaller, cheaper, LED flashlight, non-tilt screen (more robust?)
Pro2: Larger screen and higher resolution, tilt screen, better battery
A Better comparison can be found here.

Yeah this where I was looking and comparing them side by side, I wasnt sure if there more features of TP2 that we're missed of this site.
Thanks

I catch your drift. From what I gather (google) it´s more or less down to the bulkyness of the Pro2 because it´s not thinner. The extra height doesn´t seem to be as big of an issue.
There might also be better speaker quality in the Pro2 if you look at the Speakerphone Innovation at the HTC website.

Arrh forgot about the stero speaker and extra microphone! good point.
Hi there
I currently own a Touch Diamond 2 and I like the resistive screen. I like to be able to press with my nails and I feel better using this screen than all the new capacitive screens.
But what are my options? My TD2 is getting a bit worn out (already replaced the digitizer 2 times).
I would like a slightly bigger screen - resistive
Slightly better battery life - if possible
but are there any options? It seems like all phones coming out are capacitive

the HD maybe? or, the Toshi TG01 (if you don't mind switching to Toshi, with all its problems because not being supported by this board?)
They aren't new - but are only slightly worse than their successors (HD2/ TG02).
yeah that's actually not so bad suggestions. but i had the HD2 And i found it too big and the screen irritating. so i don't think i could live with the size and the speed of the HD -and the problems and size of toshi.. maybe to get a TD2 again, just seems weird when there are newer and quicker phones. out there...
Acer neotouch! with 1G cpu, 3.8" wvga! and resistive screen!
i hate capacitive screen too!, maybe it' good when you are young, but when you get older, your fingers is not that nice to you.
your fingers will get sore after awhile on capacitive screen!
hey netnerd! Cool that's a very good bet!! The thing is - I don't think it's released here in Denmark - trying to find out I wish it's bezel had been a tad narrower though - otherwise it looks pretty cool i think!
Hello, diehard Graffiti user here.
I have just upgraded from a resistive screen to a capacitive screen.
I have looked at the stylus that are available for capacitive screens and they are all like crayons. I think this is because the software for screen input recognition is catered to fingers. Is there a registry value that can be changed so that a thinner stylus is used?
Samsung is coming out with thinner tipped stylus and so is HTC, but am concerned they may not work with existing OS.
Any info on the registry values is appreciated. NOT a request for stylus advice!
Thanks
