Hello, is the latest OS version and build (I believe it´s the CE OS 5.2.1413 (build 17913)) the most stable and optimized? why some people still preffer older versions??
If you want to find that out, I would suggest you read each thread about each version and it will tell you what's working and what isn't with each one and if it had been fixed or not and then decide for yourself.
hummm is there a topic describing all the differences between each build? or topics dedicated to "what´s new" and "bugs" ?? I don´t see why a newer build would have stuff not working while older have it working, since new builds are supposed to fix bugs, not destroy working stuff...

Once you read all of the stickies, read up on how kitchens work, and read all of the custom ROM threads, you'll understand.
that seems a lot of reading and I´m in a little hurry here!!

If you are in a hurry, then flashing a custom rom is not for you. If you don't understand what you are doing and why, then you could brick your phone. Just grabbing and flashing is NOT smart and not what this stuff is about.
Each version has pros and cons. Its up to YOU (and you alone) to determine what you think will work for you. Unlike most things for geeks, having the latest and greatest version is not always the best thing (sometimes it is, but definetly not in this area).
Unfortunately, you've made it clear you have no interest in learning about things here, and nobody is going to spoon feed you.
what about the battery and camera, wich one has the better of them?

Amen!!!!!!
Excuse me but what part of "nobody is going to spoon feed you" didn't you grasp?
You have to read and then read some more. This is really for your benefit. If you don't want to take the time to do this right then please don't do it at all.

Look, as another n00b to the scene, just read, read, read... I've screwed my MDA up several times, making "leaps" of understanding, to realize someone else already screwed that up before, fixed it, and posted How/Why not to eFF that up ever again, if I'd only read it.
Your, at best, voiding the warranty and walking "naked" with a rather expensive piece of consumer technology. IMHO you should, at the very least, understand what is going to happen when you do run some code that is suggested herein. I'm still trying to figure out which Radio is best for my area
Do you realise how dangerous flashing a ROM can be? You must know what you are doing... so please, read the stickys before trying anything... that way you won't feel sorry if something goes wrong... trust me on this, been there, done that... but fortunatly I've seen the light... AMEN again
man I've flashed my MDA over 50 times day when building a rom..I've never bricked

If you are talking about hermes ROMs, then, you may be right, but, if you are talking about universal, then, there are not more than 10-15 ROMs(for wm6)
Lets me re-frase my question: which room would you say is with least errors?
here is your answer, set aside a few hours, install the latest ones and decide which one you like the most.
there is no 'best' rom, only those that suit your tastes/needs more.

Come on man!!...whats the matter with you?..use your brains! People spend THEIR own time building and releasing roms here for the rest of us to try and test and report back and you suddenly jump in and ask the stupidest question this side of the century. Go and do your own homework..you work it out yourself..read whats written in these forums then come back and you will no longer be a NOOB. No one is gonna hold up the toilet seat whilst you take a p***.
best rom is PDAVIET 2.10.11 ROM, with Radio 1.18 ... and it is the only ROM I've tried ;-)
Best WM5 ROM is the official WM5 ROM.
Best WM6 ROM depends on your preference. No ROM has the "least Errors/Bugs". They have the same amount of Errors/bugs. If you don't believe me, try them all.
Once you're done, you are no longer a n00b. And you are no longer new in this "Business". You are now out of what you thought was xda-noobies. Welcome to xda-developers.

this is the best rom in my experience! I had installed all WM6 Rom. like hermes, PDA VIET... event with some rom of Ivan! But this rom is very stable, ram recovering well after using some software, especially when log in internet through wifi! May be with my device is the best but I think you should try it first to save your time!

For sure...Read and try the differents roms avalaible and you could make your own choice : you'll find the better rom ...
It's not because your noob that you don't have to read : quite to the contrary ... you should read more than everyone...Being a noob is not a good excuse !!
I've tried certainly all wm6 released on universal. Each rom have advantage and inconvenient...
The best way is to test it yourself !
In my case i've stopped on leo's Rom because i like his kitchen base !

Wow, I can see you have that British sense of humor, well known in WHOLE WORLD.....
Do you find it hard to comprehend, these ROMs are home brew, the people using them are techie people that like messing with these things, and different tastes suit different people.
Why do you think so much variety exists in everything in life? It's because different people come to different conclusions.
It's why there are so many damn versions of linux.

Hey,
There are a lot of us Brits on this forum, not a wise move from someone asking for help.
We were all "noobs" once, the best way to deal with your issues is read the damn threads, and when you still don't find any answers ask "POLITELY" for assistance.
We are all here to help each other, and we will help, but please abide by the rules (You may have failed to read those too!!) and try to be polite.
None of us here make any financial gain from what we do, and the help and knowledge that we pass on is free of charge.
So have a little respect and expect to be criticised if you can't bother to learn by a little reading.

Hello pipl,
I'm new in house, and 1st, I have to say...a great forum! Now,I need some help,I'm looking forward,to flash WM6 on my Xda and hope,to find something closely looking to he tytnII ROM or something like the Touch. With or without touchflow function,I already tried the TF aplication with WM5 and it works great...a program is offered,to get the full TF experience.
Please, help me,link me...PS:It's going to be my firs ROM flash...
Tnx,
bye.

Yo hah if you think this is a great forum, why didn't you bother to read ANYTHING on it hah.. sorry, but thats hilarious.
Too many new folks on XDA these days, kinda saddening to be honest. Despite the usual folks saying "read read read" in almost every thread, it appears that a good 99% of new peeps don't bother to read ANYTHING at all before posting. Not even the stickies..
read about CID unlocking, i'm sure you'll need it.
moral is why even waste the bandwidth asking, when its all there in front of you to research. Give it a shot
I've raead some posts, saying that not,is not true.I just asked for help, cause your pipl are "gurus"!
Sorry for asking!
May i upgrade with Dutty's Official WM6.1 directly over original tilt rom 6.0?
It is better to flash with TYTN II rom before ?
Thanks

no you cant flash dutty's 6.1 over a 6.0 rom. you either need some special hardware or you need a phone that is shipped with a 6.1 rom, which does not exist yet
this specific reason is why almost nobody uses dutty's 6.1 rom at all. if you take a look in dutty's thread, you will see hundreds of post of ppl who wish that they are able to use dutty's 6.1 rom.....if you had read a little more, you would find that dutty's rom is probably one of the least popular roms around here
sorry for the wonderfulness of sarcasm, but I'm pretty new to this as I just got my Tilt a month ago and decided to customized my phone recently.... maybe I need to search more extensively through the "ROM Flashing FAQ for Newbies" thread to find out whether I can flash Dutty's new 6.1 ROM directly over my original at&t 6.0 ROM. Beside its fun, is it necessary to perform a ROM update whenever an "improved" cooked ROM is officially release or can I just find a popular tweaked out ROM and stick to it for the rest of year?

Point #1: You are not "newer" than I am. If I can do it so can you.
Point #2: It is not a maybe but a DEFINITE need for you to read more.
Point #3: Car dealers come out with updated models of cars each year. Do you NEED to buy the new model each year? Flash a ROM, if you like it keep it if not try another one. You will find that even when you find the ROM of your dreams a master chef like Dutty comes along and makes the ROM you loved feel like you are running a triathlon in chain mail.

point #1: i am newer despite the fact i joined before you. I joined in December and only browse through the forum just enough to decide if this phone is worth buying over an Iphone. in terms of flashing, I am new. Yes i can do it if you can, so encouraging of you.
point #2: Glad i found this forum, but I did not read enough to know how exactly how I can flash. i've been flashing satellite boxes for years so yes I definitely need to read more if i didn't know something so simple about flashing a ROM in a phone. I guess installling Windows Vista over XP on a desktop is no different than trying to install Mobile Windows 6.1 over 6.0 or over 5.0 DUH...i feel stupid, thanks for pointing that out
point #3: Not a good analogy, cars require monetary investment and undergo drastic changes typically every 4 years while cook ROM only your own "personal peference" and some good knowledge and understanding on how to flash. That is what i'm trying to do, I already know the procedures but if i get bash left to right by seniors just by asking one simple question in a thread i did not start, i'll go get help elsewhere.

Welcome to the wonderful world of sarcasm
Yes - you can flash Dutty's 6.1 rom (or any other 6.1) directly on a 6.0 rom.
No - you don't need to upgrade whenever a new rom comes out... only if you want to try new or better aspects of your rom, or if you become a flash addict like the rest of us.
Before you start make sure you have installed Hard SPL - if you can't get that flashed to your phone then don't go any further or you run the risk of bricking your phone.
Also, read the threads in the WIKI and all of THIS STICKY before you start. Even if some of them don't seem relevant to what you want to do they give you pointers to what can go wrong.
Lastly, when you flash, if you get problems such as no sound, camera not working, keyboard layout wrong etc do a search - most problems have been found before and can be easily resolved.

I am new to flashing roms on the Kaiser as well, but I managed to read through a handful of postings to find out the steps and files necessary. All the resources are out there and they are easy to find. Just hope that you don't have an important incoming call before you install the 6.1 radio. That happened to me. Good luck and make sure you do your homework before you start.

Okay, so I have been doing a lot of reading about all this, and it appears there are a lot of roms for the Tmobile wing. I was curious which one you guys think is better, which one you have, ease of the upgrade (flashing the rom), wm6.1, etc.. Looks like if you make some noob mistakes, you could end up with a fancy paperweight. Thanks.

All ROMs are good and all ROMs need the same amount of effort to install.
Every ROM has his pros and cons. Easiest way to find your favourite ROM is to test 2, 3 or more ROMs.
You also should now what you want from a ROM.

Open touch is definitely awesome. You can start out by flashing your roms with hard-spl which is pretty safe (you wont end up with a paperweight). However if you do manage to brick your phone, its not really a big deal as long as you dont mess with the boot loader. Good luck with your flashing. Have fun
Yeah, I obviously have some more reading and ivestigating to do, but I do have a question. What is hard spl? I'm a noob, yes, but a gadget geek/computer geek, and I'm blown away at all the info on this site.
